Alive in Christ

 Eph 2:1-3
Once you were dead because of your disobedience and your many sins. 2 You used to live in sin, just like the rest of the world, obeying the devil—the commander of the powers in the unseen world.* He is the spirit at work in the hearts of those who refuse to obey God.
NLT

The bible verse before us reminds us of the fact that we were once dead because of our disobedience and many sins, but we are now alive in Christ.
It is only in Christ that we can find life, in the world; which is controlled by the devil, there is no life. Jesus said ‘the thief comes not but to steal, kill and destroy, but I have come that you may have life and that more abundantly. God’s plan and purpose for you is not just life, it is abundant life.
Now what do we mean by this life? I want you to think of a man who is physically dead; such a man does not have life in Him. A dying man as well does not have abundant life, instead the little life he has left is being snuffed out of him. So it is spiritually with a man who is in sin, or a man who is backsliding; such a man who has never accepted Jesus Christ is spiritually dead, He has no life in the realm of the spirit. It is with our spirits that we worship God because God is Spirit. A man that is not in Jesus Christ cannot worship God because he is spiritually dead. He needs people who are spiritually alive to communicate with God for him.
This is not the case with you if you are born again. You have spiritual life. But why does Jesus talk then about life and abundant life? Because when you come to Him (who is the source of spiritual life) He gives you life, when you abide in Him, you keep drawing this life; it becomes abundant. Think of a tree with branches that draws it life from the tree. If you abide in the lord who is your source, just like the branch still on the tree, you will have abundant life.
It is only a man who is spiritually alive that can come before God’s throne. I cannot begin to enumerate the limitless possibilities a man has because of this access. I want you to see it like this; imagine having free unrestricted access day and night into the house of the greatest and most powerful ruler in the universe. This exactly is the case with you who are joined to Jesus Christ. You have free and unrestricted access to the creator and sustainer of the universe. What will you do with this access today?
