The New Self

Eph 4:22-24
You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; 23 to be made new in the attitude of your minds; 24 and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.
NIV
The old self is the nature we all once had before we become saved by the Lord Jesus Christ. This nature is one that is not in agreement with the spirit of God who is the source of our spiritual life as children of God. We were all born with this nature of sin so that we needed to be born again to be free from this nature.
We talk about putting off the old nature of sin because we now have a new life and can put it on instead of the old nature. Not everybody has this benefit but you have this benefit if you indeed are born again.
God wants you to be made new in the attitude of your mind so that you will have His nature.
The truth is that God is more interested in who you are inwardly and in the dynamics of your mind than what you do or say because the thoughts of your mind will ultimately decide the manner of person you will be.
You can put on the new nature of true Holiness and righteousness because this is the nature that God gave you when you gave your life to Him. The fact that He says we should put on our new nature means that there is a possibility of not putting on this nature.
What makes God who He is (all powerful, omniscient etc.) is because of His nature. What makes us like God our father is His superior nature that we chose to put on.
If you want to enjoy the authority, power and blessing that you indeed have as a child of God, put on your nature of true holiness and righteousness.
Prayer: thank you heavenly father for your word today. Lord, may I represent you in the workplace and everywhere I go today, in Jesus name. Amen
