Gen 2:8-9
Now the Lord God had planted a garden in the
east, in Eden; and there he put the man he had formed. 9 And the Lord God made all kinds of trees grow
out of the ground — trees that were pleasing to the eye and good for food. In
the middle of the garden were the tree of life and the tree of the knowledge of
good and evil.
NIV
The lord God put man in the garden of Eden and remember
that all the trees in that garden was made to grow by God, and they were all
pleasing to eye and good for food… these also included the three on the
knowledge of good and evil, and the tree of life.
Even though this tree (tree of the knowledge of good
and evil was good for food) it was not good for our food. The lord gave Adam
specific instructions not to eat of this tree because of the effect it will
have on him.
Just think of a little girl who her dad tells not to
ride on a motorized bike, she may not understand why it is dangerous for her,
but her father does because He knows more than her. All she needs to do is to
trust that her father knows what is best for her and obey him.
There are so many things we don’t know, but God knows
all things. You need to trust Him that He wants what’s best for you and
whatever ‘good’ thing He tells you not to do is for your greater good.
Remember that at God’s right hand are pleasures
forevermore. He created you and knows what is best for you. The best is what He
has planned for you. The way to walk into it is to trust and obey Him.
Prayer: our dear heavenly father, I thank you for your
love and grace. I thank you that you have chosen me to be your own. I pray that
you give me the empowerment to trust you and obey you at all times. I pray this
in Jesus name. Amen
