Rom 5:1
Therefore being justified by
faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:
NIV
Even the fathers of the
Jewish nation who got it with God did not eventually do it by their works but
were ultimately justified by faith. David and Abraham are great examples. This
is what the lord uses Paul to point out in the first chapters of the book of Romans. God also
wanted us to know that we were dead with Christ when He was crucified on the
cross and this was the work of the law. We no longer have dealings with the law
but with grace since the law has put us to death with Christ already. But we
are now alive in Christ by faith in the Him and because of His grace.
Many Christians may be
deceived that the grace of God may be a license for them to sin, anyone who
thinks this way does this because he is not truly walking in the grace of God
but still working using the template of
the system of law ( and by law I do not mean the Jewish law alone; see
previous devotionals). Grace actually teaches us to deny any form of
ungodliness and when we eventually get to the point of comparing the fruit of
grace to that of the law, we will discover that grace begins were the law
fails, grace empowers you not to look at a woman lustfully talk less of
committing adultery, law only prohibits adultery, grace empowers you to love
your enemy, law cannot, grace empowers and teaches you to live a life with your
spouse that cannot give room for divorce, law encourages divorce etc.
Prayer: Father in heaven, I
give you all the glory for this glorious day. I pray lord that you help me walk
in your grace and never again in any law that ends up in death. Give me the
grace dear Lord to do this, in Jesus name. Amen
