Eph 5:15-20
15 Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise men but as wise, 16 making the most of the
time, because the days are evil. 17 Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the
Lord is. 18 And do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery; but be filled
with the Spirit, 19 addressing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs,
singing and making melody to the Lord with all your heart, 20 always and for everything
giving thanks in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to God the Father.
RSV
God
has chosen you and given His divine nature to the end that you express Him on
the earth.
Let
your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify
your father in heaven.
There
is a clear instruction here that we Christians should not be drunk with wine
but be filled with the Holy Spirit. It appears to me that this two contradict;
being drunk with win or being filled with the Holy Spirit. People of the world
pass time by getting filled with wine to relax and be refreshed, people of God’s
kingdom pass time by getting filled with the Holy Spirit to be refreshed. Being
filled with the Holy Spirit for you should be as accessible as being filled
with wine for the unbeliever.
There
is a sweetness and joy that is generated from being filled with the Holy
Spirit. It is a peace and joy that cannot be explained. It usually bursts out
with songs of thanksgiving, hymns and deep gratitude to the father in the name
of Jesus Christ.
Go
into today with a determination to be filled with the Holy Spirit. Let the
presence of God envelop your world and see a turn around and grace that is
unexplainable.
PREYER:
Heavenly father, I thank you for your word today. I thank you for your precious
Holy Spirit that you have sent to fill my heart. I pray that today, I will be
filled afresh with the Holy Spirit, In Jesus mighty name I pray. Amen
