Rom 8:24-25

24 For in [this] hope we were saved. But hope [the object of] which is seen is not hope. For how can one hope for what he already sees?

25 But if we hope for what is still unseen by us, we wait for it with patience and composure.

There is a hope to which you are called and just in case you need proof for this hope God has sent the Holy Spirit (who gives gifts) as a proof of what we have.

The message of the kingdom establishes in us a God consciousness and a kingdom consciousness. We need to live in the awareness that we are in a kingdom and that kingdom is not of this world. We are no more of this world because God has bought us with a price.

There is nothing in the scripture that suggest we are of this world. We are in a new kingdom different from that of the world so we are to live here as aliens and pilgrims, manifesting the power and nature of God and making the best use of this little time we have to do our fathers bidding. We are going to rule and reign with Christ for all eternity in this world and in the world to come.

Rom 8:24-25

What is the hope that is been talked about here, clearly it is not just wishful thinking but something that is really going to happen. We already have the first fruits of this hope as a sign of the glorious things to come- the Holy Spirit.

Jesus has given us hope in that he has given us life. This hope that is talked about is the hope for our manifestation on the earth as sons of God, hope for the redemption of our bodies which will give way for our full manifestation on the earth (see Roms 8:23).

We have said earlier here that God’s kingdom will soon take over the kingdoms of the earth. Jesus will descend and rule in the earth for one thousand years and we who are his saints will rule with him( see Jude:14)

Go into today knowing that every good and perfect plan that God has for you will come to pass because you have the Holy Spirit of promise

Manifestation of the Sons of God 2

Rom 8:22-23

We know that the whole creation [of irrational creatures] has been moaning together in the pains of labor until now. [Jer 12:4,11.]

23 And not only the creation, but we ourselves too, who have and enjoy the first fruits of the [Holy] Spirit [a foretaste of the blissful things to come] groan inwardly as we wait for the redemption of our bodies [from sensuality and the grave, which will reveal] our adoption (our manifestation as God's sons).

We said last time that the reason why we are not walking in our fullness as God’s sons is because of the limitation of the flesh. The truth is that this flesh is one of death and corruption. When this flesh has been redeemed from sensuality; that attribute that makes us sensual and sinful in the flesh and the grave; that attribute that makes us want to live for life’s essentials (what shall we eat, what shall we drink and wherewithal shall we be clothed) this attribute intricate within is the fear of the grave or death, when we are free from all this then we can walk as Jesus walks right now. Jesus is alive and living with the redeemed body, if he shows up now, we will see him as He is in body, we would not need our eyes to be open spiritually for us to see, and yet He is functioning in heaven. That body that He has is the redeemed body; the body of the resurrection. That is the same kind of body that we will have during the resurrection of the dead or the rapture of the saints. This body can function in both realms; the realm of heaven and earth.

We (although) need to experience the first fruits of the spirit in order for us to live victorious lives on the earth. These first fruits or fore-taste are the attributes that can make us live life supernaturally in a natural way. Our true nature as sons gets to pour through because we are walking in the spirit by crucifying the flesh and trusting in Jesus. That supernatural way in which we operate is what enables us to heal the sick and raise the dead and perform miracles. This is called supernatural but it is actually our natural state had there not been the pollution of the flesh hindering the transmission of the spirit life.

Manifestation of the Sons of God

The whole of creation waits for the manifestation of the sons of God. But not only the creatures but also we who have enjoyed the first fruits of the Holy spirit. What does this mean?

The whole of creation groans because things are not the way they should. The earth is not functioning properly because of the limitation it is subjected to due to the limitation of man caused by the flesh. The earth is not permitted to function in certain capacities and has been placed under certain limitations because of the fallen nature of man.

Man is not to be flesh but to be a celestial being in that we are to operate with a glorified body, the type Jesus has today, seated at the throne of God. When man fell, man became flesh.

Because of the limitation of the flesh, we are unable as children of God to walk on the earth as sons of God. We have only but a foretaste or first fruits because of the Holy Spirit. But the good news is there is coming the time when we will walk in the fullness of our inheritance in Christ Jesus. This when our bodies have been redeemed during the rapture, then we get to walk in the fullness of God’s glory as His sons on the earth.

The glory to come

Rom 8:18-21

For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.

19 For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God.

20 For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope,

21 Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God.

We said earlier (two devotions ago) that the suffering every Christian must suffer is the crucifixion of the flesh. We have a flesh that has not yet been saved and in order for us being a composite of the flesh and the spirit which has already been saved, we need to crucify the flesh in order to let the spirit life flow through. I will not attempt to suggest that crucifying the flesh is a easy process because even though it is not physical crucifixion its requires as much grace. When you crucify the flesh it means you choose not to walk in the flesh, following its desires and craving which are contrary to the leading of the spirit.

Our text tells us that this present suffering is nothing to be compared with the glory that will be revealed in us.

When this old body or flesh has been done away with because of the resurrection of the dead, our new bodies will have the capacity to fully express the nature God has embedded within our spirits.

The message of the kingdom is that we who are in Christ and who do His will shall rule and reign with him, in a glorified body for one thousand years before the new heaven and earth where we will reign in glory. We shall be His administrators on the earth. That is why we are not to be materially minded. We have a coming kingdom, we will inherit the earth and reign in glory.

Obedience

Heb 5:8-9

lthough He was a Son, He learned [active, special] obedience through what He suffered

9 And, [His completed experience] making Him perfectly [equipped], He became the Author and Source of eternal salvation to all those who give heed and obey Him,

This is the same experience that we all are to have as Christians. We are to grow into the nature that God has made in the realm of the spirit by a constant renewal of our minds that is characterized by trust and obedience in God.

God has given obedience as a safeguard for ignorance because there are so many things we do not know.

Even though Jesus was the son of God by virtue of His birth, He became a son also by virtue of His walk.

If our lord had to learn obedience we of necessity have to do the same. We cannot walk with God without obedience and trust in the lord God.

There is great need for us to understand that even though our spirits have been regenerated and made new, we have souls that were accustomed to the ways of the flesh and God wants the total man and not just a part of us(our spirits) that is why he has made resources available for us to also be transformed by the renewing of our minds.

Crucifixion Of The Flesh

Rom 8:16-17

The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, 17 and if children, heirs also, heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him in order that we may also be glorified with Him.

When you are born again, there is this knowing that you belong to God and that you are no longer ordinary; that you are a child of God. This knowing is fortified by the Holy Spirit who dwells within us.

This is the dispensation where we(flesh) get to suffer with the lord so we can be glorified with Him on the earth. God has made all grace abound toward us so that we can advance the kingdom of God amid the gates of hell set up to stop us but to no avail. This process in not pleasant to the flesh. When we refuse to walk in the flesh and choose to walk in the spirit, this process is usually not pleasant to our bodies and this the suffering we are to suffer so that we may be glorified with Christ.

He has not called you to suffer the crucifixion of the flesh in vain and to no avail, he has called you to his glorious inheritance that will be manifested on the earth.

The Spirit of Power

Rom 8:15

For [the Spirit which] you have now received [is] not a spirit of slavery to put you once more in bondage to fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption [the Spirit producing sonship] in [the bliss of] which we cry, Abba (Father)! Father!

Fear is the opposite of faith and fear is a sign of spiritual weakness. Jesus says you will receive power after the Holy ghost has come upon you( see acts 1:8). When you receive the Holy Ghost because you will receive power, one of the signs that you have received this power from God is that you will no longer fear but walk the confidence that is only commanded by sons of God.

The truth is that anyone who is not born of God and having the spirit of God living in Him is under a spirit of slavery. Jesus has come to set us free and given us access to His throne by inputting His righteousness in us so that we can have an authentic father son relationship.

When you receive Christ as your lord and personal savior, you have the benefit of receiving the Holy spirit who is God’s mark of sonship upon us.

Sons of God

Rom 8:14a

For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.

When you become a child of God, God gives you his precious Holy spirit; the power to become a son of God.( see John 1:12)

When you allow yourself to be led by God’s spirit, it’s a sign that you are truly a son of God. When you graduate from merely being a spiritual babe to being someone who is led by the spirit of God, then you have come to the point of being truly a son of God. This means you have utilized the power that God has given you to become a son because you received His son

Go into today knowing that the way in which you actualize your position as a son of God is by allowing the Holy spirit lead you.

The Holy Spirit’s Ministry

 

Rom 8:15-16

God's Spirit doesn't make us slaves who are afraid of him. Instead, we become his children and call him our Father.m 16 God's Spirit makes us sure that we are his children.

CEV

There is great power in knowing who you are and exerting the authority that your real personality commands. When we receive the Holy Spirit, He casts away all fear from our hearts and gives us assurance of who we really are in God- we are sons of God.

One of the ways we know if the spirit that dominates our spirit is the Holy Spirit is that we are no more afraid and we have assurance and deep conviction that we are God’s beloved children. The Holy Spirit assures us that we belong to God and that He loves us.

Let the Holy Spirit dominate your life by living every moment under Him. This is also the best way to be sure to make the rapture and walk the fullness of Christ.

God is Life

Rom 8:12-14

Therefore, brothers, we have an obligation — but it is not to the sinful nature, to live according to it. 13 For if you live according to the sinful nature, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live, 14 because those who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.

Spiritual death is a separation from God. We were created to always have a connection and a relationship with God. When God talks about death he is referring to a separation from a degree of the His presence and power because God is life. When God told Adam that the day in which he eats of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil he will die, God did not mean it figuratively but he meant it in actual terms (see Gen 2:17) Adam experienced a separation from God and this is the reason why corruption was introduced to humankind and the whole of creation under his domain.

God has given us a chance to have life and this life is in His son(see John 1:1-4). When we give ourselves wholly to the lord Jesus we get to enjoy new life. The advantages of this life include victory and dominion over the devil, sin, disease, death etc.
