TRUE RIGHTEOUSNESS 2

image

LISTEN TO AUDIO VERSION

Rom 4:14-15

14 For if those who live by law are heirs, faith has no value and the promise is worthless, 15 because law brings wrath. And where there is no law there is no transgression.

Transgression is an act of disobedience against the law of God that has been received as a code for life. When a man consciously or effectively transgresses, it means that man does something wrong despite His knowledge of the law of God not to do so.

Sin exists and existed outside the law given by Moses, Romans 2:13-15 makes that very clear. Sin is not just a transgression of the laws given by Moses, it is a transgression of the law of life, and this law on the other hand has been written on the heart of all humankind. Sin in a man is when He decides to choose darkness rather than light, when he decides to do the wrong rather than the right, when He fails to act righteously and acts wickedly regardless of His knowledge of the written laws of God.

All the law tried but failed to produce in us was righteousness, what faith in Christ Jesus will produce in you is righteousness which gives you right standing before God to receive His grace to live a blessed life and express His nature.

Go into today determined to live a life that is defined by faith in Christ Jesus. Have a blessed day in Jesus name.

Prayer: Thank you lord for the access I have to your throne by faith in Christ; my debt was paid in full. I pray that you fill my life with you r grace that I may live a blessed life and express you accurately on the earth. I pray this in Jesus mighty name.

EVERYONE HAS A GIFT AND A CALLING

image

LISTEN TO AUDIO VERSION

Eph 4:7-9

7 However, he has given each one of us a special gift through the generosity of Christ. 8 That is why the Scriptures say,

"When he ascended to the heights,

He led a crowd of captives

And gave gifts to his people."

FURTHER STUDY: ROM 12:6-11 (click to read)

I have met a number of Christians who believe that they do not have any spiritual gift and that they do not have any calling in the body of Christ, but the bible verse before us tells us that each one of us has been given a special gift. The truth is that if you are born again and you abide in Jesus Christ, you are a recipient of one of his gifts.

As long as you are a child of God who abides in Him, you have a gift from the lord Jesus.

Have you ever been in a situation in which you are desperately looking for something that is right in front of you or something that you are already holding? That is how it is with the Christian who is serving the lord and yet thinks he does not have any gift.

Every single Christian has a ministry and a calling. Your ministry doesn’t have to be from a pulpit or through a congregation, your ministry as a child of God may be to represent God and transmit His kingdom in the market place.

For every assignment the lord gives you, He makes grace available for you to successfully accomplish it.

We will give account to the lord for how faithful we were with the assignments and the gifts he gave to facilitate these assignments.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I thank you for your word this day, I pray that it will bring forth abundant fruits in my life starting from today. Amen

TRUE RIGHTEOUSNESS

image

LISTEN TO AUDIO VERSION

Rom 4:13-15

13 It was not through law that Abraham and his offspring received the promise that he would be heir of the world, but through the righteousness that comes by faith

NIV

There is the righteousness that comes by faith and there is the righteousness that keeping the law attempts to establish. The righteousness that comes from faith says ‘I know that God is real and He watches my every move, I will therefore live my life to please Him because He rewards righteousness and judges wickedness (see Heb 11:6), I will stride righteously by walking constantly with a God consciousness and doing what is right under God at all times. I may not have a list of dos and don’ts but my life has one rule and principle which is pleasing God and obeying Him at all times and on every occasion because He is so real to me and I know He is interested in the best for me, following His way will lead me on the best path for my life’

Law on the other hand is so preoccupied with trying to meet up to the standard of the written rules that it does not even remember to acknowledge and walk before God. It does not see the need to have a personal relationship with God as long it can satisfy His rules. It has a false representation of God as one who is only interested in His rules and not in His people, thus a sick man should not be healed on the Sabbath but a new born baby could be circumcised so as not to break the law. It ultimately fails to attain righteousness before God because it never really has faith in Him for without faith it is impossible to please God (see Heb 11:6).

Go into today determined to walk with God by faith. The foundation of faith in God is trust in Him; that He wants the best for you at all times -and this is absolutely true.

Prayer: thank you father for the righteousness that has been inputted into me by faith in Christ Jesus. I pray you help me walk constantly in this nature and never again in the flesh. In Jesus mighty name I pray. Amen

THE HELP OF GOD TO THE WEAK

image

LISTEN TO AUDIO VERSION

Isa 41:14

14 "Fear not, you worm Jacob, You men of Israel!

I will help you," says the Lord and your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel.

NKJV

If you spend time with God’s word and seek the Lord in prayer, He will inject into you His supernatural power and you will be strengthened. (Isa. 41:10). God helps a worm man by granting him transformational truth. The worm man or the impotent is helped through transformation. In Isa 41:15, we notice that the Lord says “I will make thee…” The ‘making’ is God’s business; your place is following the master.

Isaiah 41:15 (KJV) Behold, I will make thee a new sharp threshing instrument having teeth: thou shalt thresh the mountains, and beat them small, and shalt make the hills as chaff. Teeth here represent diversity of power. Notice it is not ‘tooth’ but ‘teeth’. Mountains stand for obstructions which can stop you from going far. You can’t be transformed if you find it difficult to walk with Jesus. It is the human (fleshly) nature that makes someone a worm. To transform you, God changes that nature into the nature of the spirit. As you walk with God, He will ‘make’ you. Transformation is a function of the consecration treatment of God’s word. It takes place in the ‘secret place’. Diluted word cannot transform a man. Diluted word is spiritual snack, it is just entertainment and ultimately leads to weakness; it is characterized by its enjoyableness to the fleshly nature.

As God deals with you in your walk with Him and you are being transformed, a passion to serve Him will build up inside of you.

Go into today determined to replace your ideals with the principles of the kingdom of God- this is transformation.

Prayer: Dear heavenly father, I thank you for your love and mercy that saves me and makes me what you have destined me to be. I pray you help me submit to your transforming hand, in Jesus name I pray. Amen

EXAMINE YOUR ROOTS

image

LISTEN TO AUDIO VERSION

Luke 8:13

Those on the rock are the ones who receive the word with joy when they hear it, but they have no root. They believe for a while, but in the time of testing they fall away.

NIV

Someone gave his life to Christ because he heard a sermon about how God gave a man a miracle house, if such a one does not come to understand the basic principles of the kingdom and understand the cross, he will not last.

One of the ways of knowing the nature of your root as a Christian is understanding the premise of your being born again and what keeps you coming back to God’s throne; were you born again because you needed something from God or were you born again because the Holy spirit convicted you of your sin and you saw the need for a savior? Do you approach God’s throne daily because of physical needs or because of a spiritual need for grace to be more like Christ?

I want you to ask yourself today what inspired your repentance and acceptance of the lordship of Jesus Christ, I want you to also ask yourself if He is still in control as lord over your life.

Go into today determined to fellowship with God from a pure heart of love, do this by first examining and acknowledging God’s love for you (see 1 John 4:19).

Prayer: father in heaven, I thank you for saving me, I pray that you give me the right heart so I can grow in the fullness of your plan for my life, I pray you fill every thirst and hunger in me and give an addiction for you, in Jesus name I pray. Amen

FAITH AND WORKS

image

LISTEN TO AUDIO VERSION

Rom 4:1-3

What then shall we say that Abraham, our forefather, discovered in this matter? 2 If, in fact, Abraham was justified by works, he had something to boast about — but not before God. 3 What does the Scripture say? "Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness." a

NIV

Our justification before God is not because of our works but because of faith in Christ Jesus. That is what it really meant when you accepted Jesus into your life as your savior. It means you had faith in Him to save you and justify you from your unrighteousness.

Faith works in the domain of the spirit, you cannot walk in the flesh and live by faith and you cannot depend on the works of the flesh and live by faith because the flesh constantly wars against the spirit and the spirit against the flesh and the flesh profits nothing (see Rom 8:13). The works of the law are in the domain of the flesh.

Now that you are saved, it is faith in Christ Jesus that releases grace which empowers you to be righteous. This faith produces works that are not yours because they were not generated from your mind but were caused to happen by the spirit’s empowerment. The new (spiritual) nature you now have is contrary to the old nature of sin and it is the grace of God that will empower you to walk in the spirit and not in the flesh.

Go into today with a constant God consciousness and the knowing that you are always before the lord God who loves you and cares for you.

Prayer: Dear heavenly father, I thank you for the benefit of being your child. I pray you help me to walk worthy of my calling in you, in Jesus name. Amen

PRAY FOR ISREAL

image

LISTEN TO AUDIO VERSION

Rom 3:1-2

Then what's the advantage of being a Jew? Is there any value in the ceremony of circumcision? 2 Yes, there are great benefits! First of all, the Jews were entrusted with the whole revelation of God.

NLT

The Tuesday before the northern kingdom fell, there was a cholera epidemic and people were already dying in the town. Everyone knew that Steven had some parchments that were handed over to him by his great grandfather; these parchments contained the herbal formula that could cure the whole school and even the whole town from the ominous plague. Stephen refused to use the herbs because he was living in denial that he could never be infected because ‘I am not as dirty as you all’ he said. Thaddeus went into his chest and took the parchment, copied the formula, and with the help of the town elders, prepared a portion that cured all who cared to be administered. At the end of the session, the school principal honored Steven because ‘had Steven not diligently kept those parchments handed to him by the great healer, we would all be dead by now’ he said.

There is no doubt that the people of Israel; the physical descendants of Abraham; through whom the savior of the world came, have been instrumental in helping to keep the revelation of God handed to mankind. We are not to join those who hate the fact that they exist in saying and perpetrating negative things against the people of Israel. We should instead seek the good of the Jews at all times. We should also pray for them that salvation through faith in Christ Jesus will come to them, for there is no other name given under heaven whereby we must be saved (see Acts 4:12).

Go into today remembering that God wants you to radiate His love to everyone you come in contact with today, He has no favorites for there is no respect of persons with Him( see Rom 2:11, Eph 6:9, 1 Pet 1:17).

Prayer: Thank you Lord God, I pray for the deliverance and salvation of the people of Israel. I pray that you keep them in perfect peace. I pray that you help me radiate your love today and always. I pray this in Jesus mighty name. Amen

THE HELP OF GOD FOR TERRITORIAL DELIVERANCE

image

LISTEN TO AUDIO VERSION

1 Sam 7:5

5 Then Samuel said, "Assemble all Israel at Mizpah and I will intercede with the Lord for you."

NIV

God has called you out of darkness into light. You should know that God also desires that you be an instrument through which salvation and life in ministered to the territory He has planted you, He didn’t only shine His glorious light in our hearts (see 2Cor 4:6) but He has also ordained us to shine this light to the world; a city is set on a hill bringing territories into the glorious liberty of Christ.

The help of God to people under territorial bondage won’t come through local alters. Local alters can’t ensure territorial deliverance. We see in 1 Samuel 7:5 that Samuel gathered the people together because he had won the confidence of the people and the elders. You must be mature enough to gather people for the purpose of seeking the Lord if the Lord will raise you as a prophetic voice in your territory. You must have the credentials to win the confidence of the elders.

In many cases, there are people who are too bound and can’t be delivered unless there is a deliverer. In 1 Samuel 7:9, Samuel offered a burnt offering to the Lord. There has to be some level of sacrifices. Territorial prayer meetings are supposed to be sacrificial meetings (See Psalm 50:5). In the New Testament, the sacrifice the Lord requires of us now is the sacrifice of our bodies (see Rom. 12:1). People who have not yielded themselves totally to the Lord cannot command divine intervention for territorial deliverance. We notice that Samuel didn’t do all these alone. He understood the need for building spiritual synergy. This kind of exercise cannot be done by a lone ranger. The Ebenezer experience is corporate. If you can’t build a body, don’t try to save a territory. It takes a body of matured people in God to deal with territorial powers. In verse 1 Samuel 7:10, we see the Lord intervening. There was a release of a territorial prince into the territory. After that victory, there was a testimony.

Go into today knowing that God is preparing you to minister deliverance unto the territory He has planted you. Out of your belly flows rivers of living waters (see John 7:38).

Prayer: thank you father because you have a plan to save this territory where you have planted me. I pray dear lord that you use me to fulfill this plan, I pray you use me as you will, in Jesus mighty name I pray. Amen

UNDERSTANDING THE GRACE OF GOD

image

LISTEN TO AUDIO VERSION

Rom 5:1-2

Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we a have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2 through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we b rejoice in the hope of the glory of God.

NIV

Even the fathers of the Jewish nation who got it with God did not eventually do it by their works but were ultimately justified by faith. David and Abraham are great examples. This is what the lord uses Paul to point out in the first eighth chapters of the book of Romans. God also wanted us to know that we were dead with Christ when He was crucified on the cross and this was the work of the law. We no longer have dealings with the law but with grace since the law has put us to death with Christ already. But we are now alive in Christ by faith in Him and because of His grace.

Many Christians may be deceived to think the grace of God is a license for them to sin, anyone who thinks this way does this because he is not truly walking in the grace of God but still working using the template of the system of law and by law I do not mean the Jewish law alone; I mean serving God using a system of dos and don’ts). Grace actually teaches us to deny ungodliness (see Tit 2:11-12). When we eventually get to the point of comparing the fruit of grace to that of the law, we will discover that grace begins were the law fails for example, grace empowers you not to look at a woman lustfully talk less of committing adultery, law only prohibits adultery, grace empowers you to love your enemy, law cannot etc. grace empowers law condemns.

Go into today knowing that you walk by faith and not by sight, you walk in the spirit and not in the flesh, you walk by grace and not in the law. Have a glorious day in Jesus name

Prayer: father in heaven, I give you all the glory for this glorious day. I pray lord that you help me walk in your grace and never again in any law that ends up in death. Give me the grace dear Lord to do this, in Jesus name. Amen

THE OIL OF JOY

image

LISTEN TO AUDIO VERSION

Ps 45:7

7 You love righteousness and hate wickedness;

therefore God, your God, has set you above your companions

by anointing you with the oil of joy.

NIV

Babies are not born into this world smiling. Joy is not a natural thing that just happens without cause, joy is a fruit of the spirit indicating that joy is in the domain of the spirit, mere happiness is in the domain of the mind and is based on physical happenings.

One of the major attributes indicating the presence of the kingdom of God in a life or in a place is Joy, the others are righteousness and peace (see Rom 14:17).

Isaiah 12:3 says that with Joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of salvation. Also remember that the joy of the lord is your strength, you need spiritual strength to draw spiritual life which is the living water.

Because you are now saved, you are expected to overflow with the rivers of living water (see John 7:38). What you use to pump out this water (from the wells of salvation) is the joy of the lord. This joy is a result of the Holy spirit’s presence within you and the peace and sweet fellowship you enjoy with God in your heart; all sense of insecurity and care vanishes in this sanctuary of your heart, this is indeed the definition of the secret place and anyone who dwells there abides under the shadow of the almighty (see Ps 91)

Go into today determined to live a life filled with the Joy of the lord, do this by staying in the secret place that you access by faith in the righteousness of Christ not yours. This Joy is your strength and the force that draws out the life of God within you for the world to see. Have a glorious day.

Prayer: Dear heavenly father, I thank you for this day. I pray dear lord that you give me grace to walk in this Joy that you supply. I do not want to live one more day without this Joy and peace, in Jesus mighty name I pray. Amen

THE LORD’S GLORIOUS NAME

image

CLICK TO LISTEN TO AUDIO

Acts 3:16

16 "Through faith in the name of Jesus, this man was healed—and you know how crippled he was before. Faith in Jesus' name has healed him before your very eyes.

NLT

The name of Jesus is not Just a name that He has, the name of Jesus is the seal of authority that His personality commands.

When we talk about the name of the lord we are talking about who He really is. The integrity of a person is echoed in His name.

‘The name of the lord is a strong tower, the righteous runs into it and is safe. They that are legally apportioned right to utilize the name of the lord are the righteous. The righteous are those who have faith in the name of the lord and who are under the authority of that name. When an ‘unrighteous’ man has faith in and calls upon the name of the lord, it is an act of righteousness because of his faith in the name of the lord; this faith is to eventually produce full blown righteousness.

When you are under the authority of the name of the lord (which is when you are under the authority of the lord), like peter and John, you will be able to utilize the power in that name to perform miracles. Like the psalmist, you will be able to find help in the name of the lord.

Go into today under the authority of God’s glorious name and let the power of God ooze out through you.

Prayer: Dear heavenly father. I thank you for your glorious name that you have given to us as our help and source of power. I pray that from this day I will be more subject to your authority and utilize the power of this name, in Jesus mighty name. Amen

BUT FOR GOD’S GRACE

image

LISTEN TO AUDIO VERSION

Rom 2:14-16

14 (Indeed, when Gentiles, who do not have the law, do by nature things required by the law, they are a law for themselves, even though they do not have the law, 15 since they show that the requirements of the law are written on their hearts, their consciences also bearing witness, and their thoughts now accusing, now even defending them.) 16 This will take place on the day when God will judge men's secrets through Jesus Christ, as my gospel declares.

NIV

Mr. Davidson was very angry with Oliver because he came home to meet his bedroom totally messed up again. He had told Oliver that even though he had never been instructed not to mess up the room, Oliver knew that what He did was wrong, and this was why Oliver ran away when Mr. Davidson returned from work. Mr. Davidson decided to punish Oliver this time because despite the fact that Oliver was now instructed not to mess up the room he still messed it up.

God had given all humans a conscience to discern what is right from wrong. So even though the gentiles didn’t have the laws of God (as it were), their consciences and righteous customs were a law for them. Just like Oliver, when a man now knows what sin is because of His knowledge of the law of God and still continues sinning, he is committing two offences; he is disregarding God’s word and breaking God’s law. But isn’t that the story of all humans? But for God’s grace there would have been no real hope for salvation.

Go into today knowing that God has put his laws in your heart and mind. You now have a renewed mind that accurately discerns right from wrong and you walk righteously and shine your light by choosing to do what is right at all times. All of this is done by faith in Christ Jesus through which you receive the empowerment that is required.

Prayer: thank you heavenly father for your great love and mercy. I pray dear lord that I will not walk outside of your grace from this day forth, in Jesus mighty name I pray. Amen

WE LIVE BY FAITH

image

LISTEN TO AUDIO VERSION

Rom 1:17

For in the gospel a righteousness from God is revealed, a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, c just as it is written: "The righteous will live by faith."

NIV

The righteousness we now walk in works by faith. Our righteousness towards God is by faith from start to finish. This means that as your salvation was by faith in Christ Jesus, your sanctification, baptism in the Holy Spirit, living a victorious Christian life and making it to be raptured will also be by faith in Christ Jesus. None of these can be accomplished by adhering to any laws; trusting that keeping those laws will do it for you.

Many people are saved by grace but intend to be sanctified by laws. They do not know that grace is received by faith and it is this grace that empowers us to live holy and acceptable lives before God. Faith in God means you have come to the end of yourself; your soul now accepts that you cannot do it by your own strength.

Go into today knowing that your faith in Christ Jesus is to be as strong today as it was when you first believed. Everything you do in His kingdom is by faith. We constantly look up to Him alone for victory in this world.

Prayer: thank you heavenly father for your great love and grace towards me. I pray dear lord that I will only believe and not add anything else to my believing. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.

GOD’S INVISIBLE QUALITIES 2

image

LISTEN TO AUDIO VERSION

Rom 1:21

For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God.

NLT

In a quest to get to God humans made images of beast and heavenly beings, worshiping them as their creator or helper because they knew there was a higher power controlling things that they needed to contact through a medium. Today, we who believe have unfettered access to God the father and we are His beloved children because we believe in Christ Jesus.

Jesus says ‘no one comes to the father except through me’ (see John 14:6). No one else in the whole of human history has had the audacity to make such a statement because such statements must be backed up with sufficient power. Jesus is the only man that has been able to exert such power. He demonstrated it time and time again when He walked the earth, performing greater miracles and signs than anyone before Him (only matched by His followers who He promised would do so). He ultimately resurrected from the dead after the third day of His death on the cross, a death that was a voluntary offering for our sins. His power is so great that He gives it to as many as truly receive Him.

Go into today knowing that you have access to unlimited power because you are a follower of Jesus Christ. Begin to consciously make demands on this power and see a more glorious life from today.

Thank you father for giving me unrestricted access to your presence. Thank you for your unlimited power that is available for me. Please teach me to exert this power just like Jesus did when He walked the earth, in Jesus name I pray. Amen

GOD’S INVISIBLE QUALITIES

image

LISTEN TO AUDIO VERSION

Rom 1:21

For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God.

NLT

God has structured creation in a way that any human being who tries will come to the deduction that there is a higher power controlling the course of creation. He will personally conclude that there has to be a supreme being. In Africa for instance, before we received the gospel of salvation, even though the peoples had smaller gods, they all believed that there was a supreme God, the Yoruba’s for instance (in West Africa) called Him Eledumare. How did they come to this knowledge? Our text tells us that God structured creation to reveal this knowledge.

God is invisible but He is real, just like the air you breathe is invisible but real. You know air is real because you breathe it. We know God is real because our spirits perceive Him and His presence is the air every living spirit breathes; living spirits because when man fell in the garden of Eden, our spirits became dead to God and lost that vital link that keeps us spiritually alive towards God(see Gen 2:17). That life is what produces the fruit of the spirit. When that life is not there, the person cannot produce the fruit of the spirit just like when a physical tree is dead, it cannot produce fruits even though its frame might still be standing.

…Will be continued

Go into today knowing that the air your Spirit breathes is God’s holy presence. When your spirit is so quickened it will affect even your mortal body bringing life and grace also to everything you do (see Rom 8:11).

Prayer confession: I am alive in the spirit. My flesh is being vitalized by God’s holy presence, my mind is being renewed. I have what God says I have, I can do what God says I can do, I am going to where God says I will go when God says so. In Jesus name I declare. Amen

13 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?

KJV

After Reuben gave his life to Christ, he still experienced a great deal of demonic attacks because of his family background and some demonic things he had indirectly involved himself in before he was saved. He knew he was saved but he still witnessed certain demonic attacks and limitations. These all changed when something phenomenal happened to him; he was baptized in the Holy Ghost.

Being baptized in the Holy Ghost is not a Christian luxury or extra benefit, it is a necessity and everyone who wants to live a victorious Christian life needs this. God is willing and happy to give the Holy Spirit to all His children. I want to encourage you to desire a baptism in the Holy Spirit if you haven’t already been baptized. Ask your father in heaven for the infilling of the Holy Spirit because He is our source of spiritual power. This is the same power that gives you victory over sin and the devil.

Jesus promptly pointed that the Holy Spirit only comes to those who love Him, obey Him and continue in His love. This also means that a man who plans to sin in the evening will not receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit in the morning.

Go into today filled with the Holy Spirit by asking your heavenly father to fill you afresh.

Prayer: Heavenly father. I thank you for your love. I pray that you fill me with your Holy Spirit in

RELEASE OF HIS GRACE

image

LISTEN TO AUDIO VERSION

Rom 1:5

It is through Him that we have received grace (God's unmerited favor) and [our] apostleship to promote obedience to the faith and make disciples for His name's sake among all the nations,

AMP

It is through Jesus that the apostles of old received grace and apostleship. It is through the same Jesus that we His Children of today receive grace and all of our callings in the kingdom of God. Everything that we receive from God today is through Jesus. You cannot get to God the Father except through Jesus (see John 14:6). God has called us into His glorious light so that we will represent Him on the earth. We can only do this sufficiently when we have His grace in our lives, which is His divine empowerment. We can only receive grace through Jesus; when we indeed make Him lord over our lives- this comes by faith in Him.

Today, many people who claim to be Christians do not even understand what it means to be under the lordship of Christ; they still think they own their lives and they can do what they want, that is the reason why they walk outside of grace, such people will attempt to derive their righteousness by laws.

Grace is received when you release yourself to the lordship and control of Christ Jesus. This is when you accept that you are no longer your own but you’ve been bought with a price; that your being on the earth is to glorify God with your body (see 1 Cor 6:19-20).

Go into today with renewed assurance that because you belong to Jesus, nothing can happen to you by accident. The whole of heaven watches over you jealously.

Prayer: thank you heavenly father for your amazing grace. I pray you give me grace to walk in this grace (grace for grace-John 1:16), in Jesus name. Amen

PRAISING GOD

image

LISTEN TO AUDIO VERSION

Heb 13:15-16

15 Therefore, let us offer through Jesus a continual sacrifice of praise to God, proclaiming our allegiance to his name.

NLT

Let us offer through Jesus a continual sacrifice of praise to God, this kind of continual never ending praise is a sacrifice because many times the flesh might not feel like doing it, but we praise God in the spirit because we walk in the spirit and not in the flesh.

One of the things praising God does for us is that it helps us acknowledge God and proclaim our allegiance to Him. When we thank God for everything, we are acknowledging Him as our source in life.

God has called us into His glorious light, the darkness in the world may tend to sometimes distract the people of God such that they temporarily forget who they are and therefore not walk in the light. One of the things consciously praising God through Jesus does to our souls is that it reminds us constantly of who God is and therefore reminds us of who we are; this is how the power of God within us is released. The reason is because the lord inhabits the praises of His people (see Psalm 22:3). Praise is a vehicle through which God comes and invades the human realm for His people.

Go into today determined to praise God through Jesus at all times and in all situations.

Prayer: thank you heavenly father for today. Dear lord I ask that you give me the grace to praise and worship you at all times. Fill my heart also with your joy. In Jesus name I pray. Amen

UNWANTED VISITORS

image

LISTEN TO AUDIO VERSION

Heb 12:1

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.

NIV

The Davidsons found a huge rat in their master bedroom, It really worried them because they wondered how it got there in the first place; ‘It must have been when the carpenter came to work and left the back door open that the rat entered’ Franca said. It was really troubling for them because they couldn’t help but wonder what else might have crawled into the house. They did all they could to get rid of the rat; they eventually decided to give it rat poison by poisoning food they knew it would eat- this killed the rat and they got rid of its carcass.

So many times we have situations reminding us that there are unwanted visitors that would come uninvited. There are habits that could come because we were not guarding our hearts. What do we do in such situations? We take desperate measures until we see the stranger gone. Many times, Christians take such measures against physical enmity but fail to do so against spiritual enmity.

If there is a new habit in your life that is contrary to your new nature as a child of God, do as the Davidsons did; do not rest until the stranger is gone.

The best way to do away with besetting sins; impulsive habits that are sinful or any such thing is to face it head on. You may need to seek help from your pastor or someone you trust, you may need to pray long and even fast. Whatever it is, do all you can till you see that stranger go away.

Go into today filling your heart with the word of God under an atmosphere of prayer. This is a sure way to poison any unwanted guest in your life.

Prayer: Heavenly father, I give you all the praise and glory for your word today. I praise you for giving me a chance to fellowship with you. Please give me grace to walk perfectly with you free of everything that hinders. In Jesus name I pray. Amen

SPIRITUAL GROWTH (maturity and power)

 image

LISTEN TO AUDIO

Luke 8:14

The seeds that fell among the thorns represent those who hear the message, but all too quickly the message is crowded out by the cares and riches and pleasures of this life. And so they never grow into maturity.

NLT

It is possible to be a Christian and never grow into maturity.

God’s plan for every child is that they mature. When a prince matures, that is when his full potential is actualized; this is when he knows how much power he really has.

Many Christians are living in the realm of mercy drops and limited power because they have not matured in their walk with God. God’s plan is showers of blessings and unlimited power.

We can see here that some of the major hindrances to a Christian’s maturity are cares, riches and pleasures of this life.

When a child of God has the value system and the same world view as an unbeliever, he has the cares of this world; when a child of God puts his personal gain above the agenda of God’s kingdom, he has the hindrance of riches; when a child of God cannot resist fleshly pleasure, he needs help if he must mature.

PRAYER: dear lord God, I thank you for the grace you have given me to fellowship with your word right now. I pray you grant strength to walk into my full potential as your child, in Jesus mighty name. Amen.

YOUR STRENGTH COMES FROM GOD'S GRACE

image

LISTEN TO AUDIO VERSION

Heb 13:8-9

8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. 9 So do not be attracted by strange, new ideas. Your strength comes from God's grace, not from rules about food, which don't help those who follow them.

NLT

Our text today reminds me of some women who claimed to have had revelations of heaven, they came presenting updated rules of Christianity; they have instructed several women in West Africa to shave their heads as one of the criteria for entering heaven, etc.

Remember today that your strength as a child of God comes from God’s grace and not from keeping any rules. People limit the work of God in their lives when they neglect the grace of God and think they can be made perfect (sanctified) by the old testament laws; bringing yourself under the old law only gives the satan(the accuser) an occasion to afflict you(see Gal 3:10).

Rules and regulations cannot help a man with an unregenerated heart; all they will do is to produce a hypocrite. Only God’s grace has the ability to change our minds and hearts into the image of Christ. This Grace works by faith that is coupled with total submission to the lordship of Christ.

Go into today knowing that you are not under laws but under the grace of God that produces genuine righteousness, peace and joy.

Prayer: Father I thank you for your grace you have made available in my life. I pray I will never limit your work in my life by neglecting this grace and living under laws. I pray this dear lord in Jesus name. Amen

DON'T LOVE MONEY

image

LISTEN TO AUDIO VERSION

Heb 13:5

Don't love money; be satisfied with what you have. For God has said,

"I will never fail you.

I will never abandon you."*

NLT

We are to love the lord God with all our hearts and souls and minds and with all our strength. This means we are to love God from our spirits, from our souls and minds (i.e. we consciously occupy our minds with thoughts about God, pleasing Him, etc.) and with all our strength (i.e. we use our strength to do things for the furtherance of his kingdom because we love Him). By the time you successfully do these, there is no more heart; mind or strength left to love anything else except who God says to love and money/mammon does not make it to the list.

There is such great wisdom in being satisfied with what you have, not because of indolence but because of a deep trust in God who has promised never to leave you in this world. When you are satisfied this way, you give God unrestricted access to bless as He pleases in your life because you trust Him. God is on your side, He has all power and He wants the absolute best for you in this world.

Go into today loving Him and letting Him into every corner of your life by trusting absolutely in Him. He is giving you much more than you could ever imagine (see Eph 3:20).

Prayer: Dear heavenly father, I thank you for this day you have brought me safely into. Dear lord I pray you shed your love abroad in my heart; give me power dear lord to love you. In Jesus name I pray. Amen

THE SECRET PLACE: A PLACE OF STRENGTH

image

LISTEN TO AUDIO VERSION

Matt 14:23

23 And when he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into a mountain apart to pray: and when the evening was come, he was there alone.

KJV.

Jesus often retreated after spending time with the crowd! There is a need for us to leave the crowd with the intention of seeking God, leaving the crowd means taking out time to be alone with the lord.

No one has ever fulfilled destiny by accident; It comes as a result of deliberate desperate choices on our part. You can't just relax and expect "grace" to do all the work. Yes grace is available but so is our will and right to choose. Whenever we fail to return to the secret place, we disconnect from God. It is in God we have our strength, we must go back to him to draw strength.

When we don't retreat, we run out of zeal and fire for the work of God. We must never forget the secret place.

Go into today determined to take out alone time to spend with the lord. This is where you get the strength you need for life and godliness.

Prayer: thank you heavenly father for giving me access to the secret place. Please help me lord to take advantage of the great opportunity before me, In Jesus name I pray. Amen

BE KIND TO STRANGERS

image

LISTEN TO AUDIO VERSION

Heb 13:1-2

Keep on loving each other as brothers. 2 Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some people have entertained angels without knowing it.

NIV

An experience I had while just a child going to write my entrance exam into the university really touched me. I stayed in the house of total strangers who didn’t previously know me or my parents; they only knew my father’s friend yet were so hospitable and nice to me. As I observed more closely, I realized that they were so hospitable because they were people who truly loved the lord. That really strengthened my faith as a young Christian.

I’ve discovered that just like a mature tree does not struggle to bear fruit, when a person is truly regenerated, he will not have issues with today’s admonition to be kind to strangers.

One of the greatest proofs that you now have the God kind of love in your heart is the ability to entertain strangers. Even though there are more bad people in the world today than good people, we are still to be kind to strangers; we are not to unwisely expose ourselves to them but to treat strangers the way we would want to be treated if we were in their position. Doing this comes with its own blessing. When you receive a prophet in the name of a prophet you will receive a prophet’s reward (see Matt 10:41), when you receive a stranger in the name of the lord (because the lord says to do so), you will receive the lord’s reward. Think about how much longer Abraham would have waited to receive Isaac if he had not warmly receive those strangers in Genesis 18.

Go into today knowing that anytime you do something that is contrary to the human fleshly nature but is in consonance with God’s nature, you gain more grounds in the realm of the spirit.

Prayer: Heavenly father, I thank you for this day, I thank you for being so good to me even when I didn’t know you. Dear lord I pray you give me more grace to be good to even people I don’t know; may I fully express your nature. In Jesus name I pray. Amen

FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT

image

LISTEN TO AUDIO VERSION

Gal 5:22-24

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.

NIV

A fruit is product of the process of growth a seed that has been planted undergoes.

This new righteous nature you have is a result of the Holy Spirit who now lives within you and renews your mind by teaching you the words of Christ.

If you have observed that the fruit of the spirit is not manifested in your life the way it should, do not be discouraged instead set your heart on God. God has made the grace available for you to live a victorious Christian life in this world, plug into this grace by trusting in Him and consciously apportioning time to do the things that enhance your faith. God has also made all blessings available for you so you can serve Him without struggle (walk with this consciousness). All you need to do is to depend on His grace and His power within you (the Holy Spirit) and stop depending on your will to produce the fruit of the Spirit. Submit yourself totally to the government of the Holy Spirit to let His grace manifest in your life.

Just like a fruit is proof of the maturity of a tree or plant, the fruit of the Spirit you bear is proof of your spiritual maturity, and this maturity produces spiritual power and authority. God’s plan for you is that you walk in this authority every day.

Go into today knowing that you have the God given ability to express His nature. You are a child of God.

Prayer: Lord I thank you for your word. Please give me the grace to bear the fruit of the Spirit today and every day. Amen

RIGHTEOUSNESS DEFINED

image

LISTEN TO AUDIO VERSION

1 John 3:10

This is how we know who the children of God are and who the children of the devil are: Anyone who does not do what is right is not a child of God; nor is anyone who does not love his brother.

NIV

When I was much younger, I asked an older friend what it really meant to be righteous; he simply said ‘righteousness means doing what is right’. As simple as that definition was, it stayed with me all these years and I have seen that it is very correct. When you have a regenerated mind, it means the word of God has changed the configuration of your heart and now defines your standards of right and wrong. All you need to do to be righteous as a regenerated person is to do what is right at all times under God.

We see from our text that after all is said and done, at the final analysis, the way we would identify those who belong to God is not just by the things they say or claim to believe but by the things they do. Those who do what is right are children of God, those who do unrighteous things, regardless of what they profess, are not children of God. In this world, if you do not belong to God you belong to the devil.

Go into today determined to do what is right at all times and be weary of those who profess Christ but live unrighteous lives.

Prayer: Thank you father for giving me the ability to do what is right at all times. I pray you give me grace to continue in this and never fail, in Jesus name. Amen

WALKING IN THE VISION

image

LISTEN TO AUDIO VERSION

Heb 12:1-2

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. 2 Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

NIV

Yesterday, Ubokudom and I had a very revealing conversation on the topic of vision for life. We discovered that one of the reasons the patriarchs of the faith like Abraham, Joseph, David etc. succeeded was because they started out their walk with God and ordered their lives with a God given vision.

Without vision people cast off restraint (see Prov 29:18), if you do not have a vision for life, you may be able to do anything. One of the reasons why people fail in life is because they never started out their Christian life with a God given vision in view.

A weight is anything that slows you down and hinders you on your path to spiritual progress and the best way to live above weights and the sin that easily entangle is to go about this race with the vision of your destiny at heart- Jesus. Let there always be a constant desire to express Christ in your life.

Just like Jesus had a vision that kept Him going (He saw the joy that was set before Him and despised the shame that was to be His greatest weight) we are to do the same. Jesus is our destiny; He is the one we all aspire to be like. God’s purpose is to make us sons in the likeness of Christ.

1 John 3:2-3 says “2 But friends, that's exactly who we are: children of God. And that's only the beginning. Who knows how we'll end up! What we know is that when Christ is openly revealed, we'll see him — and in seeing him, become like him. 3 All of us who look forward to his Coming stay ready, with the glistening purity of Jesus' life as a model for our own.”(TMB)

Go into today determined to order your life by your God given and facilitated vision and mission statement.

Prayer: Dear Lord God. I pray you give me grace to always walk with my vision in mind. Help me never to fail, in Jesus name I pray. Amen

HOW FAITH WORKS PART 4B

image

LISTEN TO AUDIO VERSION

Rom 10:17

So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ.

NASU

The natural unregenerate mind judges things by sight, logic, human tradition with believes usually facilitated by demonic principalities and powers. These standards hinder faith that comes through hearing by the word of God.

One of the ways of renewing your mind is by making God’s word the only standard for your life. This means that you don’t believe it until God’s word says it. It means you forsake the traditions of men for that of the kingdom of God.

When these strongholds in our minds are broken down by God’s word, we can now receive the hearing of faith for further great things from God. Our minds now have new standards of judging truth so that our souls no longer screens off the truth of God’s word before it reaches the spirit where it can profit us.

Faith is something that operates within the domain of the heart, not just the mind. The heart is the union of the soul and spirit. If the word is not accepted by your mind and spirit, it will not profit you. When a man is walking in the spirit, it means that man walks by faith and not by sight or feelings and this walk will affect even His physical actions.

Go into today knowing that God has given you His word and your faith will draw the great things He has released into your life today.

Prayer: Thank you father for calling me and making me your own. Pray today that you help me walk in greater faith than ever before. In Jesus name I pray. Amen
