Matt 18:35
So likewise shall my heavenly Father do also unto you, if ye from your hearts forgive not every one his brother their trespasses.
KJV
Today's message is centered on forgiveness. Forgiveness for us as Christians is a must and not a choice. No matter how badly someone hurt you in the past or very recently, you must forgive them.
For every lingering anger or unforgiveness we nurse in our hearts we hinder our relationship with God, we also tell Him indirectly not to forgive us our own trespasses. Jesus stated clearly in our text that if we do not forgive others our heavenly father will not forgive us. If for instance anytime you remember the incident that led to your hurt you still feel bad, angered and wish for an opportunity to get back at the person, it's an indication that you have not forgiven the person from your heart. Jesus expects you to forgive them whether or not they apologize for He forgave us long before we knew we sinned and loved us while we were yet sinners (see Rom 5:8), He expects us to follow in His steps.
Forgiveness is something you do first for your sake and for the sake of the person who hurt you.
Having this knowledge, go into today forgiving everyone that has hurt you and may hurt you in the future. Unforgiveness is a trait of a baby Christian, make up your mind to let it go.
Prayer: thank God for bringing you to this day. Ask the lord to deliver you from every form of unforgiveness. Pray God fills you with His grace to express Him today and beyond, pray in Jesus name. Amen
