FAITH AND FEARS

Psa 34:4

I sought the Lord, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears. KJV

I saw a profile picture on my Blackberry messenger app that had the following caption " the man who fears God fears nothing" my first thought after reading it was " that couldn't be absolutely true, one could fear God and still have fears" but as I thought more deeply on the matter, I realized that the statement was true.

The fear of God is born out of solid faith in Him. Any man who truly fears God is one that truly believes in God. He has faith in God believing that God exists and He is in charge of everything; such a man knows that God is in control of everything in His life. This knowledge births fear for God, and extinguishes all other fears. Any man with this knowledge may have other fears, but not for long; not until he takes those fears to God who is the maker and sustainer of all, and Like king David he can also say "I sought the Lord, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears"-Psa 34:4

Fear is not only a faith killer but a vehicle through which demonic spirits operate.

Go into today determined to commit all your fears to the lord today. Tell him of every fear in your life right now, and let him lift it.

Prayer: Thank you father for giving me access to your presence. I pray you help me trust you completely and not fear anymore, in Jesus name I pray. Amen

THE POWER OF PRAISE

Acts 16:25-26

25 About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them. 26 Suddenly there was such a violent earthquake that the foundations of the prison were shaken. At once all the prison doors flew open, and everybody's chains came loose. NIV

Paul and Silas, although imprisoned, prayed and praised God. God responded with a miracle.

Praise is a type of prayer during which we forget about our problems and instead focus on the greatness of God. Our faith is turned on whenever we praise.

During periods of difficulty, praising God becomes difficult, we find it easier to grumble or complain, but it is at such times that praise becomes a sacrifice. The sacrifice of praise is a very powerful spiritual tool.

Whenever you truly praise God amidst troubles, these things are bound to happen:

1. The foundation of the problem shakes and quakes.

2. Doors of escape from that problem will open.

3. The burden imposed by the problem falls off and you're liberated.

Go into today with the determination to praise God even amidst difficulties, knowing that God will respond with a miracle. Take time out today to praise God.

Prayer: thank you father for you will respond with a miracle whenever I praise you, even today respond with a miracle as I praise you, in Jesus' name. Amen

FAITH IN THE WORD 2

AUDIO VERSION: http://po.st/HxQWI6

Luke 6:47-48

47 Whosoever cometh to me, and heareth my sayings, and doeth them, I will shew you to whom he is like: 48 He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock. KJV

Many have come to Jesus, but those who will abide and be fruitful are those who hear His sayings and do His sayings that they hear.

I have observed that many Christians are not really listening to the words of Jesus. They listen to the words of the news more, listen to the words of the world and of their imaginations rather than the words of Christ. The surest way to hear the words of Christ is by reading the Bible and letting the Holy Spirit teach you. Also, every word you hear from the pulpit should help you understand the word of God that is written or help reveal it to you, nothing more. Any "revelation" that is not supported by scripture is not the word of God.

Go into today determined to develop your listening habit to the word of God. Mark out time for personal Bible study and prayer. Spend a lot of your free time listening to audio or video sermons, audio bible etc.

Prayer: Thank you father because I get to hear the words of Christ; the words that input eternal life. I pray you deliver me from everything that hinders this in my life, in Jesus name I pray. Amen.

SOME THOUGHTS ON FAITH 2

AUDIO VERSION:

http://po.st/F5EXZy

Click above link to listen

Mark 13:37

“ And what I say unto you I say unto all, Watch.” KJV

Also Read Mark 13:32-36

First of all, we believe that Jesus is coming again, as an act of faith. The Father has chosen to hide that day from the knowledge of everyone, so that we can live in expectancy by faith. It takes a measure of faith to be watchful and on the alert for that day- the day we shall be raptured.

You see, once you stop watching, you tend to fall asleep. Watchfulness would incorporate all the daily disciplines that help our faith to grow stronger: praying, reading the word of God, listening for God's voice and responding in obedience, fasting and so on. The day you stop watching, you fall asleep, it means you are not living by faith. Don’t forget that without faith, it’s impossible to please God (see Hebrews 11:6).

Friend, if you derail from these daily disciplines, if all of a sudden prayer becomes difficult, reading the bible a burden, fasting seem unbearable; it’s likely you are dozing off. Today the Lord wants you to wake up and stay alert, His coming is close.

Go into today determined to live by faith and to stay awake.

Prayer: Father, when my heart is overwhelmed by the issues of life, when I tend to derail in my walk with you, please lead me to the Rock that is higher than I. Grant me the grace to live by faith from today, in Jesus name I pray. Amen.

SOME THOUGHTS ON FAITH 1

AUDIO VERSION:

Click above link to download

Rom 10:17

17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. NKJV

One of the reasons why faith comes through hearing by the word of God is because the word of God tells you who you are and what you have, believing it means having faith.

Faith is not a product of wishful thinking but a result of knowledge.

When you accept God's counsel and word concerning you, you have received the faith of God and this faith excels; it increases as circumstances demand.

God has called us to be expressions of His person, and He has called into right standing with Him. All this is only possible through faith in Christ Jesus.

Go into today knowing that you have been given the ability to express the nature of God. Your faith in God is not dependent on who you are or what you've done; it originates and depends on the person and integrity of God himself, and because He lives you can face tomorrow, you have no fear of what the future brings. Hallelujah!

Prayer: Thank God for bringing you thus far in life. Thank Him for bringing you thus far in your walk with Him.

Pray that God will deliver you from all distractions and doubts; that you will grow in faith. Pray in Jesus name.

RIGHTEOUSNESS DEFINED

Job 11:13-15

“Surrender your heart to God, turn to him in prayer, and give up your sins-- even those you do in secret. Then you won't be ashamed; you will be confident and fearless.” CEV

I believe this is supposed to be our ideal response to the Lord whenever we fail Him. Sin is a result of the depravity of our hearts outside of the grace of Jesus. Watchman Nee said “sin is not only an act, but also a condition.”

Friend, Jesus has made a provision for us to be redeemed from this depraved condition through the cross. But, you see, the first step toward accessing this provision is redirecting our hearts or surrendering our hearts which signifies a change of heart or repentance; and turning to God in prayer which signifies total surrender and dependence on Him.

In the course of our walk with Him, when we make mistakes, fail Him and fall short of His glory, this shouldn’t make us run away from God; it should only open our hearts to understand that we can’t make it in this race on our own. We need to depend on Him for everything.

Go into today determined to depend on God for everything.

Prayer: Father, as I go out today, grant me the grace to live above sin, in Jesus name I pray, amen.

KJV

Daniel was a born again at the age of 14; he knew the bible more than the average Christian. Ten years down the line, Daniel was living a debauched life with no regard for God. When confronted by his Christian friends, all Daniel would say was that he once trusted and served God but God failed Him; His uncle who was the best Christian he knew died in a car crash, he wondered why God allowed that to happen.

Many christians have found themselves in Daniel's situation. Even though many might not live an outright sinful lifestyle, their hearts have already departed from God and this shows when they have to make crucial decisions or whom they first turn to in time of trouble.

God does not want our faith to be based on experiences but on His person and His word. Many people’s faith fails because it is based on the wrong foundation. Some accepted Christ because Christianity is their family religion and "being a Christian is the right thing to do", some because they were told of what God would give them, they didn't see what was promised so they fell away.

Go into today determined to place your hope and faith on nothing else but Jesus and His righteousness. You are saved and safe because Christ is alive and you trust in Him.

PRAYER: Thank you heavenly father for saving me. I pray you help me fully understand the kingdom of God and walk unshakable therein, in Jesus name I pray. Amen

MANIFESTATIONS OF THE SPIRIT

AUDIO VERSION:

http://po.st/7ZNWMV

Click above link to listen, about 1mb

1 Cor 2:4-5

4 and my speech and my message were not in plausible words of wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, 5 that your faith might not rest in the wisdom of men but in the power of God. ESV

Clement sometimes had doubts about the existence of God. He had watched a documentary created to generate such doubts as a child. He lived most of His life having faith in God but sometimes the old doubt would resurface. He decided to share this problem with his pastor who confided in him revealing that he had the same problem too. This made Clement close to being an agnostic.

I have noticed that in places where Christians have so many such honest doubts are where a form of godliness has dominated for a long time but the power of God- the Holy spirit, has been forsaken. Clement's church was one that had never seen notable manifestations of the Holy spirit. They doctrinally did not believe in the baptism of the holy spirit nor did they believe in any gifts of the spirit, even tongues.

Even though we have hope of God’s coming kingdom that will physically dominate the earth, we have the Holy Spirit who gives the first fruits of these things to come. The manifestation of the spirit proves the existence and working power of our God (read 1 Cor 12).

Go into today with a desire to have more manifestations of the Holy Spirit in your life. It begins with the desire, then the manifestations.

Prayer: Father, i know you can hear me. I see the evidence of your power when I look at the mirror because it you that made us and not we ourselves. Please help me manifest more of your power this year. In Jesus name I pray. Amen

THE SURENESS OF GOD'S GOODNESS AND MERCY

Psalms 23:6

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever. KJV

"ALL the days of my life”- David did not exclude a single day in experiencing God's goodness and mercy. He walked through the valley of the shadow of death with a deep insight of God’s goodness and mercy. To the world, he was doomed in that condition but he was certain and sure of the lord’s goodness and mercy. Psalm 23 was written out of experience and revelation. No amount of pain and desertion could have changed the story of David.

Anything born of God is sure; anything born of God overcomes and there is no decay.

Job said ‘I know that my redeemer lives’ when he was still in agony (see Job 19:25). He was sure of God's Goodness and mercy. He never for once altered his position in God.

Today's devotional is a call for you to serve God with the conviction that His hand of mercy is always strong upon you.

Go into today with renewed assurance that the Goodness and Mercy of God is following you in ALL circumstances.

Prayer: thank you Lord for your kind love you have bestowed upon me, thank you for your goodness and mercy upon me, thank you heavenly father, in Jesus name I pray. Amen

Psalms 23:6

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.

There is a phenomenon the world has observed, they have discovered that goodness follows some people and this not a result of their work but a result of something else that cannot be explained, the world calls this phenomenon good-luck, the opposite of it is bad-luck.

As long as you have life as a Christian, goodness and mercy are following you, remember the Word reads "surely". You will not have to pray or work for it, you only need to claim it, and it is your sure right. Jesus has paid for it with His blood.

Go into today knowing that you have access to goodness and mercy, you are not at the mercy of any man but living on the goodness and mercy of God.

Speak the words of today’s bible text out loud and believe every word you say.

Prayer: thank you father for your great love, I claim goodness and mercy today and all the days of my life, in Jesus' name. Amen.

FAITH AND GIFTS

Rom 12:6

And we have different gifts according to the grace given to us. If the gift is prophecy, that individual must use it in proportion to his faith.

I have written on this verse before but still feel compelled to write on it again. Spiritual gifts are not earned, they are received, just like you do not pay for a physical gift or else it would no longer be a gift but a prize or a wage. Even though spiritual gifts are not earned, they are received because of right positioning. For example, it is easier for you to receive gifts from a king if he is your father than if you are his servant, and it is easier for you to receive gifts from your father if you have a good relationship with him.

One thing that makes for a great relationship with God is faith. Faith is the connection line between man and God(see Heb 11:6). The more faith you have in God, the more conscious of God you are; the more conscious of God you are, the more you fear Him; the more you fear God, the more you obey and please Him; the more you please God, the better your relationship with Him; which creates an express receiving of gifts.

Go into today determined to build your faith by practicing the word of God. Let God into every detail of your life by acknowledging Him in all you do (see Prov 3:6); this will build your relationship with the Father.

Prayer: I thank you heavenly father for your word today. I pray you help me grow in my relationship with you. That I might also grow in grace, in Jesus name I pray. Amen

2 Pet 1:3

3 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue. KJV

Demola didn't believe that the pickup truck had the capacity to carry Him and carry the bag of cement he had on his head at the same time. He entered the back of the truck still carrying the heavy bag of cement on His head. Demola was still exhausted and having neck pains afterwards.

Many Christians are like Demola; they have accepted Christ as lord of their lives but are still unwilling to cast all their burdens upon Him. They believe Christ can save them from sin but they don't believe He can heal their sickness, some believe Christ can cast out devils but don't believe He can provide their material and physical needs, they do not realize that the salvation package includes everything that pertains to life and godliness: God is able to make you have super abundance and still be godly (righteous): that is the work of grace (see 2 Cor 9:8).

Go into today knowing that Jesus has paid it all. He has given you the power you need to live a victorious life. Determine to walk by faith in Him. Take out time today to pray and spend moments with God; ask God to teach you how to walk in his power.

Prayer: Thank you heavenly father for saving me and saving me indeed. I pray lord that you help me walk in the fullness of all you have paid for, in Jesus name I pray. Amen

If you have not accepted Jesus as your lord and savior, Pray this prayer:

Lord Jesus, I thank you for dying on the cross as payment for my sins. I believe in you and accept you as my lord and savior. I ask that you come into my life and teach me to be your son indeed. Amen…Go here: http://po.st/QJ7qx3

KEEP YOUR PROMISE

Psalms 116:14

I will pay my vows unto the LORD now in the presence of all his people. KJV

On a certain day Pa James called his servants; told them he will be travelling but will return soon; he gave them charge over his large garden; all of them promised to take care of the garden; he smiled and left.

Every morning, Isaac would walk round and water the garden, prone the overgrown branches, harvest the ripe fruits when necessary. His brothers kept postponing their work, claiming to be busy... After a season, Pa James returned and his servants welcomed him, he asked for the fruits harvested from his garden. Only Isaac had fruits to present while the faces of his brothers went pale. Surprisingly, Pa James had planned to give the entire farm and business to the workers who were most faithful, Isaac was the only faithful one so Isaac inherited everything. His brothers were charged for receiving such huge wages and not doing any work.

What were your resolutions the day you welcomed God as your father, the day God took you as His son and brought you into His kingdom; paying the greatest price to bring you in. How faithful are you to those resolutions? Like Isaac in our illustration, only those who are faithful will receive a blessing from the Lord when He returns. Return to the Lord today; renew your vows; keep them, for it is only a short while and he that will come will come (see Heb 10:37).

Go into today determined to be faithful in all that God has assigned to you.

Prayer: thank you Jesus for bringing me into your kingdom, grant me the grace to remain faithful to the end. Amen

MAKING DECISIONS (5) – INDECISIVENESS

Joel 3:14

Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision! For the day of the Lord is near in the valley of decision

It takes faith to follow God; and in decision making, it also takes faith to go the way of the Lord. Uncertainty, ignorance, doubt, slothfulness, hesitation, and fear are the common root of indecisiveness.

When men are contending with faith and fear, they sometimes stay indifferent. But not making a choice is a choice not to choose – that’s a wrong choice! And God does not approve such choices neither should it be in our character as believers to dwell in the valley of decisions – staying undecided and living with uncertainties.

Our lives should be characterized by clear-cut guidance and certainty of decisions and not the misery, confusion and anxiety associated with not knowing what to do, where to go and actions to take. Thank God for the Holy Spirit, we can never be left in the dark if we seek His face.

Step out boldly in faith today without any hesitation and make the right decision by the help of the Holy Spirit. Take out time to seek God’s face concerning that issue of uncertainty (fasting would greatly help).

PRAYER: I am not indecisive in the name of the Lord Jesus. I step out boldly and take the right steps by the power of the Holy Spirit.

GRACE AND GIFTS 1

Click above link to listen, about 1mb

Rom 12:6

And we have different gifts according to the grace given to us. If the gift is prophecy, that individual must use it in proportion to his faith. NET

The measure of spiritual gifts you have is determined by the measure of grace you have. No wonder Jesus was full of spiritual gifts because He was full of grace and truth (see John 1:14).

Grace walks by faith; faith is the evidence of things not seen. You cannot receive anything except it has been given to you (see Joh 3:27). When something has been given by God, it is first in heavenly places; the spirit realm, faith is the physical evidence; the title deed of those things that eventually make them manifest in this realm. For example, you say ‘by His stripes I am healed’ even though you are still sick, if you believe that word, it is because of faith, and that faith is an evidence of the reality in the realm of the spirit, and when you keep truly believing and confessing that reality(without doubts); you will see the manifestation of what you believe. You will then discover that you receive the gift of healing from the lord (gift because you didn't pay for the healing) and you can use that same principle to declare healing on others; as your faith grows. You receive physical healing by faith because it has already been paid for, concluded and given by Christ in heavenly places.

Go into today believing and confessing everything God's word says concerning you, and see a greater manifestation of grace and power.

Prayer: Thank you father for giving us all things that we need for life and godliness in Christ. I pray you help me grow in faith, in Jesus name I pray. Amen

WALK AS SONS OF THE LIGHT

Eph 5:8

for you were at one time darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of the light. NET

I had an experience today that got me thinking...I discovered that sometimes, in certain places and in certain circumstances, there is a very thin line between walking as a child of the light and walking outside the light. That is why God's word does not only guide what we think but guides who we are close to and the kind of places we are allowed to frequent.

The word of God is true and powerful; It has an answer for every situation. All you have to do to continue in the light is to trust and obey God's word you know, and His leadings which can never contradict His word (principles, laws, precepts) as read in the bible. Always remember to consciously walk in love; Be kind always to everyone- this is walking in the light (see 1 Joh 2:10).

Go into today remembering that Jesus has washed you and made you holy. You are a son of light; your life radiates the brightness of God’s glory.

Prayer: Thank you heavenly father for making me holy and presentable before your throne. I pray for grace to always walk in the light and never in darkness. In Jesus name I pray. Amen

SEED AMONG THORNS

image

AUDIO VERSION:

http://po.st/Rs8Emy

Click above link to listen, about 1mb

Mat 13:22.

He also that received seed among the thorns is he that heareth the word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful.

KJV

Our emphasis today is on the third category among the hearers of the word described in the parable of the sower. They form the bulk of the population in  church today; they know right from wrong because they have heard the word and even started growing, but because of fame, wealth, and power, they let go of their conviction. They do this because they do not fully understand the gospel of the kingdom, thus they never become fruitful. We see in Matt 13:23 that those who truly understand the gospel are those who are fruitful.

Those who understand the message of the kingdom of God understand that God is the center of their lives and they exist to please and serve God, and God always provides for them. Jesus pointed out that it was impossible to serve God and serve mammon; money (see Mat 6:24). Until a Christian accepts that a man’s life does not consist in the abundance of the things that he possesses, that Christian cannot be free from covetousness and the love of money; he will always be in the third category of unfruitful hearers of the word whose growth is chocked by the cares of this life and deceitfulness of riches.

Go into today knowing that you can live a godly life irrespective of the corruption around you, and God’s grace causes you to prosper in all things; learn to depend on God’s grace and surround yourself with God’s people and God’s word.

Prayer: thank you heavenly father for this day. I pray you teach me by your grace to live a sober, righteous and godly life, in Jesus' name I pray. Amen

WORK CONDUCT

AUDIO VERSION :

Eph 6:5

Slaves, obey your human masters with fear and trembling, in the sincerity of your heart as to Christ

In the early days of the church, many converts were wealthy people who had slaves that were also converts. Even though true Christianity practically brings an end to both spiritual and physical slavery, the reality on ground was that many of those slaves didn't have anywhere else to go apart from being with their masters. God had a word concerning their conduct; God wanted them to express His nature of meekness.

Whether you are working for someone or you are in a system where you have people over you to whom you are accountable, God's instruction is that you be obedient and loyal. God does not want us going about being employees who are insubordinate to our superiors at work.

There is a principle here; an obedient heart to your absolute master (Christ Jesus) creates a character of obedience to constituted human authority. If you cannot obey your masters that you can see, how will you obey your master that you cannot see?

Go into today remembering that God is interested in, and watches over every detail of your life, this also means you can never be forsaken in life (see Ps 37:25).

Prayer: Thank you father for your love and grace. I pray you help me walk according to all your precepts and commands, In Jesus name I pray. Amen

THE GREATEST DECISION

image

AUDIO VERSION

http://po.st/iaJrux

Click above link to listen, about 1mb

Act 24:24-26: After some days Felix came with his wife Drusilla, who was Jewish, and he sent for Paul and heard him speak about faith in Christ Jesus. And as he reasoned about righteousness and self-control and the coming judgment, Felix was alarmed and said, "Go away for the present. When I get an opportunity I will summon you. At the same time he hoped that money would be given him by Paul." ESV

The greatest decision all men will ever be faced with is the decision to accept Christ Jesus – His person and His work – as savior and Lord over their lives.

Felix was under conviction as a result of Paul's preaching; he realized his lost condition but he was not ready for the decision for Christ at that moment because money talked loudly; he was hoping Paul would bribe him with money.

Many are like Felix; who hear the gospel but for the pleasures of the world and their immediate gratification (which are all the deceitfulness of sin) would not accept Christ (see Heb 3:13). They want to be saved, plan to be saved but eventually die without getting saved, all the while waiting for a convenient time.

Make your decision for Christ Now. Accept Jesus Christ as Lord over your life today, tomorrow might be too late (see 2Cor 6:2).

PRAYER: Lord Jesus, I thank you for your sacrifice on the cross. I accept your finished work and surrender whole heartedly to you. You are my savior and Lord! Amen.

MAKING DECISIONS– CHOOSING RIGHT

AUDIO VERSION

Click above link to listen, about 1mb

Deu 30:19

I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live. KJV

We should always trust the leading of God’s spirit whenever choices are set before us because He would always guide us rightly (see Jer 21:8,9)

It is one thing to seek help from God in decision making and another to take the path that he shows us. Sometimes, because of the limitations of our minds and thoughts, we think that the path that seems smooth and the land that looks well watered is always best for us. But there is a way that seems right to a man, and its end is the way to death (see Pro 16:25).

Our decisions should not be merely based on what we see or hear but on accurate knowledge through the help of the Holy Spirit (see Is 11:3).

Determine today to choose the way of the Lord as He reveals it to you even though your mind, senses, and others around you say otherwise.

PRAYER: Father, I ask for the grace to always accept the right choice. I choose right. I choose life, in Jesus name. Amen

AND GOD SAID…

AUDIO VERSION

Gen. 1:2-3: And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. KJV

Everything will remain formless, void and under the cover of darkness until the Word shows up. When the Word of God is absent, our lives and the things around us will remain empty, formless and dark. You notice that the Spirit of God was hovering over the surface. The principle here is, if the word of God is not present and active in your life, the Holy Spirit can’t do anything in your life. Take a closer look at this scripture; before: formlessness, emptiness, confusion and darkness everywhere. After: orderliness, light and all of creation. What made the difference? AND GOD SAID…

A. W. Tozer said “The Word of God is quick and powerful. In the beginning He spoke to nothing, it became something. Chaos heard it and became order; darkness heard it and became light. “

Friends, if there is an empty, formless and dark situation or area in your life, take the word in your mouth and begin to declare it, things will take shape.

Go into today knowing that the word of God in your mouth is the most powerful force in your life.

Prayer: Father, increase my hunger for your word today and open my ears to hear, as I spend time with you, let your words encapsulate my vocabulary in Jesus name I pray, amen.

GOD’S PRECEPTS: MARRIAGE

image

AUDIO:

http://po.st/5eQqcA

Eph 5:22-23, 25

22 Wives, submit to your husbands as to the Lord, 23 because the husband is the head of the wife as also Christ is the head of the church…25 Husbands, love your wives just as Christ loved the church and gave himself for her NET

Penny and Lee both met in the Christian university they attended and became very good friends and eventually got married. One of the surest things they both knew was that their marriage was absolutely the will of God. They both knew they were led and there were several confirmations from God; Coupled with the fact that they were very good friends who understood each other perfectly.

Unfortunately, five years down the line, they began to have serious problems in their marriage and were even beginning to consider separation and probably divorce.

Their counselor discovered they were not living according to God's precept for marriage; Penny never at any point saw Lee as her head in the relationship. Lee was quite selfish and even competitive against his wife...their marriage was falling apart.

Even if you hear an audible voice from God concerning your marriage and you don’t go about it according to God's principle, that marriage will have problems. God in His infinite wisdom chose the husband to be head of the household. He has also commanded the husband to love his wife in an uncommon way (as Christ loves the church). This kind of love is sacrificial, it is patient and kind, it forgives, it gives allowances for imperfections; understanding that the wife is a weaker vessel, it causes Him to intercede for his wife as Christ intercedes for the church.

Go into today determined to structure your home on all of God's principles concerning marriage that you know.

Prayer:heavenly father, I thank you for your grace. I pray you teach me your ways that I may walk in your truth in every aspect of my life, in Jesus name. Amen

MAKING DECISIONS– DON’T BE DOUBLE-MINDED

image

AUDIO VERSION:

1Ki 18:21

And Elijah came unto all the people, and said, How long halt ye between two opinions? if the LORD be God, follow him: but if Baal, then follow him. And the people answered him not a word. KJV

Vain speculations, a lack of focus and commitment, and prayerlessness are the character of the double-minded. He takes an action by guesswork and retracts almost immediately as he sees the impending consequences; he starts off sailing on the right course, but with no conviction retracts in the face of a storm; He has no mind of his – hears one voice and acts accordingly, then he hears another and changes path again and again.

A double-minded person is one whose mind is not stayed on one choice as against the spirit of a fixed decision that is birthed in an answered prayer for direction, backed up with a strong conviction, followed up with a well-informed course of action and well directed focus executed without delay.

When we seek God’s guidance in prayers for decision making, as we receive his insight, we are to stick to his leading even in the face of oppositions.

PRAYER: Lord, help me to always follow through the right decisions I make, in Jesus Name. Amen

MAKING DECISIONS – OUR TRUSTED ADVISOR

image

AUDIO VERSION:

http://goo.gl/7kquFs

Audio file is about 1mb

Psa 32:8

I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye.

KJV

Our choices and decisions in life pertain to all of body, soul and spirit: What should I wear? What should I study? Where should I work? Who can I trust? Who should I marry? How much should I invest? Should I accept Christ as my Lord now? Should I follow my inner-leading?

The word of God is practicable in decision making, especially when it becomes part of us by meditation; but for explicit guidance, we must rely on the Holy Spirit. He can be each and everyone’s trusted advisor in our daily lives and in everything we let him in (see Ps 46:1 GNB).

Our Spirit is God’s instrument for guiding us (see Prov 20:27), hence we should always keep it in constant harmony with the Spirit of God by continuous fellowship with the word of God and His Spirit. And the channel of receiving (our minds) should be kept in alignment with the spirit through spiritual exercises like fasting and prompt obedience.

Practice the Holy Spirit’s guidance today by asking Him for help in decision making and obeying His leading promptly.

PRAYER: Father, I thank you for the Holy Spirit our trusted advisor. I rely on his leading today and always, in Jesus Name. Amen

GIVE HONOR TO WHO HONOR IS DUE

Eph 6:2-3

2 " Honor your father and mother , " which is the first commandment accompanied by a promise, namely, 3 " that it may go well with you and that you will live a long time on the earth . " NET

Although Mark was a very brilliant auto-mechanic, his business was failing. His customers were always complaining because something else would go wrong after he fixes the current problem. He had apprentices who were particularly bad; they would steal things from the vehicles of his customers. This gave Mark a very bad name in the town and people would rather not patronize his service.

Mark was also a very ungrateful and proud apprentice to his teacher who offered to teach him for free because he was a family relation. Mark did not wait for his traditional freedom (a time his teacher was to officially let him go). He never showed any form of honor to his teacher and was rude to him and even stole from him when he was leaving. This was the reason why mark’s business did not prosper; He did not give honor to whom honor was due; he did not honor his father in the trade.

Every precept of God has consequences for defaulting. They are given to us to usher in God’s blessings upon us.

Go into today determined to be meek in spirit and keep all of Gods precepts. Give honor to whom honor is due(See Rom 13:7).

Prayer: Thank you father for your word today. I pray you help me walk in all of your precepts and commands. In Jesus name I pray. Amen

HONOR YOUR FATHER AND MOTHER

AUDIO :

Eph 6:2-3

2 " Honor your father and mother , " which is the first commandment accompanied by a promise, namely, 3 " that it may go well with you and that you will live a long time on the earth . " NET

Segun was having things really tough at all ends; his employer kept reducing his salary because the business was not doing well, his car burnt, and his wife had miscarriage of their baby she conceived after their 4 years of marriage. It was one disaster after another for them. Because Segun was a committed Christian, his pastor couldn't understand why these things kept going on. The pastor latter found out that Segun did not honor his father and mother, in fact, he particularly disregarded them because he said they weren't his real parents.

Segun claimed that his parents (who adopted him) never really loved him like they did their biological children, despite the fact that they trained him to university level. From the time Segun got a job, he never called or showed any form of honor to his parents; he behaved as if they did not exist. This went on for five years until God intervened through his pastor.

Things were not well with Segun because he did not honor his parents, even though they were not his biological parents.

It is clear from today's bible text that God demands we honor our parents. Anyone who has played any role of father to you deserves fatherly honor.

Go into today knowing that God is set to make all things beautiful in your life. Submit yourself to the order of Gods kingdom and all must be well, according to God’s word.

Prayer: Heavenly father, I thank you for my biological parents and everyone else you have used to help and teach me. I pray you help me honor them accordingly, in Jesus name I pray. Amen.

DO NOT PROVOKE YOUR CHILDREN

image

AUDIO

Eph 6:4

Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but raise them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.NET

Solomon and Dora were the only children of Elder and Deaconess Frank-Wise. They both didn’t turn out well. Solomon was convicted and was to go to prison because of a crime he passively committed- his friends were the real criminals. Dora was pregnant with the second illegitimate child and could not go further than secondary education. Their father had always been known as a strict disciplinarian so everyone wondered why his children turned out this way. Dora and Solomon were both very angry children because of the way their father treated them from childhood; he always provoked them to anger and they grew up angry and wanting to hurt him back.

Fathers or parents cannot keep provoking their children to anger and train them in the discipline and instruction of the lord at the same time. The two never goes together. That is why the word says "do not provoke them to anger BUT raise them in the discipline and admonition of the lord. The lord's discipline in not cruel, it is not always angry, it is not difficult to please, it does not compare you to others, it does not abuse you psychologically or physically, it is not rude, it is not selfish. Parents are never to do these things to their children. They are to be firm but loving and caring.

Go into today knowing that the lord God is also your father who trains you. He cares for you and sets an example for you to follow in training your children.

Prayer: Thank you father for your great love. I pray you help me walk worthy of it. I pray you help me be a good parent both to my biological children and to everyone you would send to me to teach and care for. In Jesus name I pray. Amen

CALL UPON HIM

image

AUDIO VERSION ~ 1MB =

http://goo.gl/vxJbw4 «click to download

Luke 8:22-24.

22 Now it came to pass on a certain day, that he went into a ship with his disciples: and he said unto them, Let us go over unto the other side of the lake. And they launched forth.23 But as they sailed he fell asleep: and there came down a storm of wind on the lake; and they were filled with water, and were in jeopardy.24And they came to him, and awoke him, saying, Master, master, we perish. Then he arose, and rebuked the wind and the raging of the water: and they ceased, and there was a calm. KJV.

Today's passage shows that you may be born again and yet panic when faced with difficulties. The mere presence of difficulties does not signify the absence of Christ.

God expects that we call on him whenever we are faced with difficulties, He may not intrude if we refuse to call upon him. When you call on the lord, you show that you trust Him and depend totally on Him. Calling on Him means calling on Him alone, not on Him and others.

Learn to call upon him when faced with trials and temptations. Cast your cares upon Him for He cares for you (1 Pet 1:7).As you go into this year, remember to call on the lord and cast all your cares and fears upon Him.

Prayer: thank you Jesus for being so close to me. I receive grace to call upon you and completely cast every care upon you, in Jesus name. Amen

GOD’S LOVE

AUDIO VERSION ~ ←1MB =

http://goo.gl/028y0v «click to download

4 But God, being rich in mercy, because of his great love with which he loved us, 5 even though we were dead in transgressions, made us alive together with Christ - by grace you are saved! -

Eph 2:4-5

I was discussing with some brethren about the love of God some days ago when I realized that Christians do not talk about it enough. We teachers of the word are probably afraid that if we talk about God’s love and grace too much, we may give the people an idea of God that is not good for them because they may become lazy and undisciplined Christians. But this truth is the central point of Christianity.

God loves you abundantly; even when you were dead in your sins God loved you, how much more now that you have believed in Christ Jesus. What inspires our love for God is a realization of how much God really loves us (see 1 Joh 4:19). It is this love that should constrain us from doing what we know does not please God. The grace of God and the love of God walk together you cannot be saved without grace. You need to live everyday with the solid consciousness of the love of God. This is what will keep you in the grace of God.

Go into today with a renewed consciousness of God's love for you. Let this consciousness dominate your day and begun to pray into this year from that standpoint.

Prayer: Thank you heavenly father for your great love for me. I pray you give me grace to love you more and please you daily, in Jesus name I pray. Amen

OBTAINING MERCY

image

AUDIO VERSION ~ 1MB =

http://goo.gl/EIQPB8

Psalm 25:10

All the paths of the LORD are mercy and truth unto such as keep his covenant and his testimonies. KJV

The world is still trying to recover from the sad news of the AirAsia flight QZ8501 plane that crashed over the Java Sea near Indonesia. Sadly, all the passengers and crew aboard lost their lives. But there were some 15-25 people who missed that flight because of reasons ranging from failing to receive an email to mild sickness. What makes the difference is mercy.

Life is void without the mercies of God. Saul's life lacked it, and he couldn't continue as the king of Israel. David's life was full of it, thus he reigned as the greatest king over Israel. God's word says He will have mercy on whom He will have mercy (See Rom 9:15-16). We desperately need God’s mercy for a successful year.

Let's see how we can attract God's mercy upon our lives.

From our text, God's mercy is always available to those who keep His covenant and His testimonies (the Word of God). When we constantly obey God's word, we attract God's mercy upon our lives.

Another way to obtain mercy is by trusting in God. 'Many sorrows shall be to the wicked: but he that TRUSTETH in the LORD, mercy shall compass him about.' (Ps 32:10 ERV). Trusting in God compels Him to show us favor and mercy.

Go into today determined to obey God's word and to trust Him always.

Prayer: Father I thank you for the revelation of Your word and I ask that you give me the grace to always trust and obey You, in Jesus name I pray. Amen.
