Romans 12:17, 21
17. Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men.
21. Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good. KJV
There was a farmer married to two wives, one day after he'd left for farm, his wives quarreled; the younger wife was at fault. The older became angry because she could no longer bear the insults from the younger wife, she decided to fight back.
Soon, their husband returned and the story was told him. Surprisingly, he reproved his older wife saying "if my younger wife decides to go mad, should you join her in her madness?"
Now, these are some words from the Lord to us on how to handle either evil or good done to us by others.
Proverbs 17:13: Whoso rewardeth evil for good, evil shall not depart from his house. KJV
1 Thessalonians 5:15: See that none render evil for evil unto any man; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men. KJV
1 Peter 3:9: Don’t repay evil for evil. Don’t retaliate with insults when people insult you. Instead, pay them back with a blessing. That is what God has called you to do, and he will bless you for it. NLT
Go into today with a determination to obey God's word. Live to overcome evil with good. God bless you as you obey. Amen
Prayer: thank you Jesus for your word, help me to live in tandem with your word even when it seems difficult. Amen
