I once asked a friend how he knew that he was born again; why was he so sure that he was a child of God? His reply was very simple, he said “I just know it deep inside that I am a child of God, God is my father”. As simple as his reply was, I could see that he was truly convinced and very sure of what he was saying.

This knowing that you are a child of God is not a product of wishful thinking or educated thinking; it is a knowing that goes far beyond that, it is a knowing from your spirit that you belong to God. You cannot buy this with money and you cannot pay for it by works, in fact, many who act as if to pay for it by works do so because they don't truly have it yet, they are trying to make up for what they don’t have.

One of the advantages of cultivating personal relationship with the lord is that you will have assurance of salvation. This assurance comes because of the Holy Spirits activity in your heart.

As you go into today, determine to make peace with the lord and take out time to commune in His presence (make peace by honestly confessing and forsaking your sins).

Prayer: Heavenly father, please give me the will and the power to please you always, that I may continue in sweet fellowship with you, in Jesus name I pray. Amen

Uche was finding it difficult to get a job. This made him very prayerful because he suspected he was under demonic attacks. Much later, he got a very good job, but he had now developed a very robust prayer life, and was much closer to God than ever before. There were also invaluable lessons he had learnt during that dry period of his life.

Yesterday, we saw that as priests we are to be void of unrighteousness in order to offer the right offerings to God and effectively make intersessions for ourselves and our loved ones.

The lord indeed purifies and He purifies like the refiners fire. There are experiences you may have gone through that were not pleasant but they helped burn out those things in your life that were weights hindering you from your destiny. The refiner’s fire is never pleasant to the raw Gold, but when it has burnt out all the dross, the glorious gold now comes forth.

Go into today remembering that you are a child of God and the most any negative situation can do to your reality is to help burn off the dross from your life. Keep living under a God consciousness; in sweet fellowship with the Holy Spirit as He takes you from glory to glory.

Prayer: thank you father for the grace to grow. Thanks for your love and mercy, in Jesus name. Amen.

PRIESTS BEFORE GOD

In the Old Testament, the Levites were the priests ordained to offer sacrifices to the lord and make atonements for themselves and the people; they were the ones who knew how to make supplications to avert distress which the sin of the people may have brought.

The only problem was that their sacrifices and supplications would not be accepted if they themselves were unclean.

Our bible text today reveals to us that the lord cleanses them so that they will offer proper offerings.

In the New Testament, everyone who is born again is a royal priest before God (see 2 Pet 2:9). We are to make supplications for ourselves and our families, nations, etc., but our supplications will only be accepted if we ourselves have been purged of all iniquity. Jesus came to be our righteousness so that we would have access to God's throne where we obtain grace to help us live above sin, we are not to continue to sin; abusing this grace.

Go into today taking concrete steps to overcome anything in your life that is contrary to God's will. Go to Gods throne to obtain mercy and grace to help you do this; that you may boldly intercede for yourself, your family and your nation.

Prayer: Thank you father because I get to come before your holy throne. I ask for more grace to help me walk accurately with you, in Jesus name I pray. Amen

EFFECTIVE SPIRITUAL WARFARE

"For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds"

Understanding this scripture will teach us how to embark on result-oriented warfare. Spiritual warfare is not won simply because you are a Christian. The victory of every kind of warfare is associated with how armed you are in the war front. A Christian must first understand that he is in a continuous warfare with the enemy. Secondly, you must know the person you are fighting against. Thirdly, you must know the weapons of our warfare.

Our weapons of warfare are not carnal hence, every fight against flesh and blood must stop. If you are still fighting your brothers and sisters, you will fail in the battle of life. There is something holding that person you are fighting and you need to pull it down with the following weapons: (1) truth (2)Righteousness (3) gospel of peace (4) faith (5) salvation (6) word of God and (7) prayer (see Eph 6:13-18)

Who are these enemies? They are principalities, powers, rulers of darkness of this world, spiritual wickedness in high places (see Eph 6:12).

Note that the weapons mentioned above complement each other; therefore prayer without the word is an empty noise. Prayer with the word devoid of truth robs you of your victory. Prayer without faith will give you no answer. Eph 6:11 says you must put on the WHOLE ARMOR...

Go into today as a true soldier of Christ determined to be well kitted as you advance against your true enemy.

Prayer: Heavenly father, please arm me with spiritual armor; teach me how to pray a prayer of faith with the word of truth. Cause me to experience your righteousness in totality, in Jesus name I pray. Amen

Jesus is giving hope to anyone who is using the condition of the body (as dead) as an occasion to sin. If you are discouraged because you have become addicted to one particular habit of sin or more, I want to tell you that God is out to give life to your body.

There is somebody using this devotional, you have been under the bondage of sexual immorality as a Christian, but God is giving you the power of resistance now in your body. God raised the body of Jesus and now He is raising somebody's body to resist sin in Jesus name. There is also somebody using this devotional this morning, you have been asking questions; how can I be delivered from alcoholism, womanizing, occultism and witchcraft? God says, I am giving life to your mortal body now.

That thing which you have not been able to do because of death in your body, receive power to do them now in Jesus name.

Go into today with a renewed mind that God has given you the power of resistance against sin in your body.

Prayer: Thank God for saving you from the power of sin and also thank him for giving you victory over your body through the power of the Holy Spirit.

YOU ARE BOUGHT WITH A PRICE

"For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.

In law, the use of seal is a strong mark or evidence that ownership has passed from one person to another. Once ownership is passed, the buyer obtains a legal and possessory right over the property. If it is a landed property, he has the power to repair or re-structure it to his taste.

God has purchased our bodies with a price; the blood of Jesus was the price paid for such an exchange, and the Spirit of God became the seal of our redemption. You should no longer live as if it your body belongs to you.

Many suffer pains and afflictions today because they have refused to offer their bodies as a living sacrifice unto God. When you offer your body as a sacrifice to the lord, you give more priority to pleasing Him than you give to pleasing your body; you do God’s will even though it may hurt your feelings.

Go into today determined to offer your body as a living sacrifice unto God; this is your reasonable service to Him. Decide to do (or to cheerfully continue doing) that thing you know God has told you to do, even though it may not be pleasing to the flesh.

Prayer: Thank God for the great price He paid to redeem your life.

Ask God to empower you to live your life serving and pleasing Him.

Amen.

JESUS CARES FOR THE BODY ALSO

One misconception among believers is that the body was not part of the redemption work on the cross. Though the body remains weak after our salvation, Jesus did not leave us without a remedy. Though we have not yet put on the glorious body, we can still experience eternal life in our bodies (see Rom 8:23).

The bible says that the Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you (Rom 8:11).

Watchman Nee wrote: "the spirit and body were previously dead, but now the spirit is revived…”, so even though your body will die because of sin, the Spirit gives you life because you have been made right with God (see Rom 8:10).

With this understanding, God will help us appreciate how our bodies can receive life through the spirit.

Go into today with the understanding that you have the quickening of the Holy Spirit in your body and you can be all that God has called you to be.

Prayer: heavenly father, please strengthen my trust in the presence of the Holy Spirit within me, that I may experience his power in my body, in Jesus name I pray. Amen

IMAGINATION

Imagination simply means seeing beyond the physical. it could also mean seeing through the eyes of faith, it depends on the person seeing.

Your imagination is a key component of your life and destiny. In fact, your imagination determines your experience in life and destiny (Jer. 1:11-12).

We invite God to act on our behalf when our sight is inclined to God's word and not our experience (3 Jn. 2, Prov. 23:7).

The fact that the bible says we walk by faith and not by sight(Rom 5:7) indicates that faith provides another kind of vision because we need to see in order to walk in life, so if we are now not to base our walk in life on physical sight, we are to walk based on faith- Spiritual vision; what God says concerning us.

Go into today determined to walk based on faith; to see through the eyes of faith always (see Philippians 4:8).

PRAYER : Dear Holy Spirit, teach me to see with the eyes of Jesus Always. Amen (Prov. 4:21)

Before Daniel gave his life to Christ, he never imagined that he could let someone who cheated him go free, but after he gave his life to Christ, he realized he would be wasting his time spending it to avenge people, since his heavenly father who is ruler over all will also judge all with righteous judgments; he now knew he could never be forsaken in this life that His father has created. This is one way his mindset had changed.

If you are born again, this means your spirit has received new life because you are now born of the spirit. This life gives it the ability to now control you and no longer your flesh, but you have to decide to let this happen by renewing your mind to perceive the things of the spirit. You renew your mind by changing every mindset that does not conform to the principles of God’s word.

Note that as Christians we are no longer to live according to the flesh but we are to put to death the works of the flesh in our lives.

Go into today observing if any work of the flesh is still remaining in your life, and decide that by the help of the spirit, you will put an end to it from today.

Prayer: thank you father for the grace to put away the works of the flesh. I pray you help me do this, in Jesus name. Amen

Sitting across the table from Pastor Seth was Stacy holding a sheet of paper that contained a list of the sins she’d found impossible to conquer. With tears she said ‘I really love God, but I find myself falling each time I face these temptations’. Pastor Seth did not even bother to know the content of the paper before stating that her problem was faithlessness; that she had never totally believed she could overcome those temptations. To this she concurred…

Anyone who does not have the new life is under the obligation to live according to the flesh. A lot of times, this obligation appear to arise within us who have now been born again. We are told in today’s text that this (the flesh) can be put to death by the power of the spirit. One of the greatest manifestations of this power is faith (see 1John 5:14).

God’s word says you can do it, so you believe and accept that you can do it- this is faith.

Go into today knowing that you have the power to conquer sin and all the powers of the devil (see Luke 10:19).

Prayer: thank you father because I have power over every sin and fear in my life, and your Holy Spirit empowers me to do all that you want me to do. I pray I will never forget this, in Jesus name. Amen

This is the attitude of a hook, line and sinker Christian.

Materials such as books and tapes that help build your faith and spiritual knowledge are good (see Prov. 23:23); they are to help facilitate a personal and more intimate walk with God. We must not allow them to become a clog to our Personal walk with God. We must know God for ourselves instead of through the eyes and experiences of Pastors and other ministers. The Word of God is the principal pattern. It is the 'measuring tape' with which we measure every doctrine that comes (See 2 Tim. 2:15, Phil. 3:10).

Go into today with the intent to discover what God’s Word says per time instead of earnestly waiting for others to disclose it to you.

PRAYER: Dear Holy Spirit, I thank You for Your Word streaming in my Spirit, I ask that You help me grow in the knowledge of Christ Jesus daily, in Jesus name I pray. Amen

GOD IS ON YOUR SIDE, ARE YOU?

What then shall we say about these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?

Mrs. Alani always wondered why all her children turned out so unfortunate in life. One day, as she was praying, it was revealed to her that she was the cause. When they were little, she habitually angrily said things like "olori buruku”, koni daa fun e" to them. These Yoruba (language) words are interpreted to mean ‘bad luck head’, ‘it will not be well with you’. She did not know that some wicked spirits took advantage of her negative words as license to afflict her children. She had to now make a new habit of waking up every morning and prophesying blessings and prosperity into the lives of her children. She did this for up to 5 minutes every morning. Three months latter, her daughter who was now married for four years conceived for the first time. Her second child won a USA visa lottery, and her last child who had been seeking admission for seven years got two admissions into very good universities. 

We can take side against ourselves by the things we do and the things we say. Your faith in God manifests in what you do and what you say. When a Christian says negative things concerning himself, or constantly imagines the worst concerning himself ( thus saying negative things in his mind), such a Christian is taking side with the devil against himself. You are not to permit evil and negative thoughts residence in your heart. Do not say words or do things that are inspired by fear or doubt, but say words and do things that are inspired by faith in God. 

Go into today knowing that God who is on your side will use every positive word you say concerning life as a channel to bless you.
Prayer: Thank you father for being on my side. I pray you help me always do things and say things that are inspired by faith, in Jesus name. Amen

7. For what gives you the right to make such a judgment? What do you have that God hasn’t given you? And if everything you have is from God, why boast as though it were not a gift?

What do you have that God hasn't given you? Your achievements are no result of hard work alone for there are some who are more hard working but could not achieve greatness.

‘The Lord makes some poor and others rich; he brings some down and lifts others up’- 1 Sam 2:7 NLT

The greatest achievement in life is salvation; even this is a gift.

“God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God”-Eph 2:8 NLT

Can you give a sincere answer to these questions?

Did you choose the family to which you were born?

Did you choose your country of origin?

What did you contribute to your physical make up or your intelligence, are you better than those born brain damaged? etc?

If these things are gifts to you from God then you shouldn't boast or be proud about them, instead, use them to glorify God who gave them to you.

Go with this understanding today that you are who you are because of God's grace. Spend today thanking God and acknowledging Him.

Prayer: ask God to forgive you of any pride and boasting.

Ask God to help you to live glorifying him.

“I would have just asked! ". These were the words that proceeded from the mouth of Jessica when she realized that her dad knew everything about algebra. She had struggled with algebra all through the semester and had ended up with an 'E'.

Similar situations occur in the lives of believers, we try to be on our own. We throw our fist to the wind hoping to come through in victory from the wrestling bout of life. We wind up disappointed, disgruntled and unhappy when we come out short.

What is that thing you are struggling with right now? Drop it at the Lord's feet. Whatsoever may be an obstacle to you, know that if you will put your trust in God and surrender it to Him, He will come through for you. (see Psalm 124:8, Philippian 4:13)

Go into today determined to cast all your cares on Jesus Christ for He cares for you watchfully and affectionately. (Philippian 4:6)

PRAYER CONFESSION: My help is in the name of the Lord. I declare nothing broken, nothing missing, nothing stolen in my life, in Jesus name. Amen

Man by nature is very ambitious; we plan to be successful; we plan to be the best; we even plan on having a wonderful vacation every now and then. You plan on being a wonderful parent and reaching your goals and destiny, etc. Man is a planner by nature and God put that nature in us. However, we cannot maximize this nature without the help of God. That is why many end up making a god out of their ambitions and many never reach their goals.

We must learn to put God first in all our planning, knowing that He only can give us the desires of our hearts and add no sorrows. (Isaiah 1:19)

Go into today determined to seek God above your ambitions; plans and goals. (Matthew 6:33)

Ps 37:5: Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.

PRAYER : Heavenly Father, I surrender my goals, visions and plans to You. Make me all You want me to be, in Jesus name. Amen

"Fifteen years down the line and I cannot still speak in tongues?” Kemi said desperately. She assumed that she did not receive the Holy Spirit because she still could not speak in tongues; she had confused the presence of the gift with the presence of the gift giver.

The Holy spirit lives in you if you have accepted Jesus Christ and continue to live your life under His authority, whether you can speak in tongues or not. It is very good and important to speak in tongues and it is usually a sign of the Holy Spirit's baptism. Just like every other spiritual gift, it is received and ignited by faith. Many have not manifested this gift because they have not activated it by faith.

What marks a person who belongs to Christ is the presence of the Holy spirit within Him (see Rom 8:9), and it begins from believing that the Holy Spirit is within you.

Go into today determined to have sweet fellowship with the Holy Spirit. Let Him in on everything you do.

Prayer: thank you heavenly father for giving me your Holy Spirit. I pray you help me grow in my walk with you, in Jesus name. Amen

STIR UP THE GIFTS IN YOU

And the Lord came down in the cloud and spoke to Moses. Then he gave the seventy elders the same Spirit that was upon Moses. And when the Spirit rested upon them, they prophesied. But this never happened again.  NLT

A young boy gave his life to Jesus when he was about 10 years old, he spoke in tongues that day, but another 12 years passed without him speaking in tongues again. It was after an argument he had about “speaking in tongues" that he remembered he once spoke in tongues. He began to speak in tongues after that day. In his case, the argument was a reminder which stirred up the gift that laid fallow in him.

In our text, God poured His Spirit on those men, the Spirit activated the gift of prophecy in them but sadly, they never prophesied again. Note that the gifts and calling of God are without repentance (see Romans 11:29) hence, the lack of continuity is the result of a want on our part.

God gave you gifts when you gave your life to him. Have you found them out? Are you using them? The gifts of God are there to ease our journey with him; they also help us to be effective in our Kingdom duties. Paul wrote this to Timothy “This is why I remind you to fan into flames the spiritual gift God gave you when I laid my hands on you" 2 Timothy 1:6 NLT.

Note brethren that the same words apply to you. Stir up the gifts in you; use them; be effective.

Go into today remembering that Maximizing one's gift is a sure way to fruitfulness and fulfillment.

Prayer: Lord, help me to maximize your gifts in me.

Read Romans 12:6-10.

Take time to pray for yourself.

THEY THAT MOURN

Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted. KJV

A man once lived in a foreign land; he had only been there a couple of days when he realized the perversion in the land. They practiced all forms of vices and their immorality reached heights that are even indecent to describe. But this man lived in this land as a righteous man, his daughters were even virgins, he lived a completely different life and was not influenced by the corruption and wickedness in the land, he mourned daily and wished the people would stop being evil. He was separated and was a shining light; a moral beacon.

2 Peter 2:7-8 say: But God also rescued Lot out of Sodom because he was a righteous man who was sick of the shameful immorality of the wicked people around him. 8. Yes, Lot was a righteous man who was tormented in his soul by the wickedness he saw and heard day after day. NLT

Lot gave us a perfect understanding of the word “mourn". God is aware of the present corruption in the world; he wants us to be incorruptible. Our attitude should not be “join them if you can't beat them". We are called to live righteously and escape the coming judgment.

Go into today determined to live an incorruptible life, even if it means you will face rejection, pain and suffering. Remember that God will judge every unrighteousness but will comfort the righteous.

Prayer: thank God for bringing you to this day.

Pray that He will forgive all your past unrighteousness.

Ask for grace to remain righteous even in the midst of temptations.

May the peace of the Lord be with you, in Jesus name. Amen

WALKING IN THE SPIRIT 2

For those who live according to the flesh have their outlook shaped by the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit have their outlook shaped by the things of the Spirit. NET

Yemi asked: "I have always heard that I should walk in the spirit. I have learnt that walking in the spirit is the way not to fulfill the lusts of the flesh, I also know that it is only those who walk in the spirit that please God. But I really don’t fully understanding what it means to walk in the spirit?"

Our text today reveals that those who walk in the flesh are those who have their outlook shaped by the things of the flesh. These are those whose priorities are things of this world. Those who walk in the spirit are those whose priorities are things of God's kingdom.

The opposite of walking in the spirit is walking in the flesh. You cannot walk in the spirit and walk in the flesh at the same time.

As you go into today, ask yourself this question" what are my most important goals in life; are they things of this world; that money can buy, or are they things that have to do with my assignment in God’s kingdom?" Think on this...

Prayer: Thank you heavenly father for saving me and giving me a purpose that is bigger than my needs. I pray you help me always live to serve and please you, in Jesus name. Amen

TRUE RIGHTEOUSNESS 2

3 For God achieved what the law could not do because it was weakened through the flesh. By sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and concerning sin, he condemned sin in the flesh, 4 so that the righteous requirement of the law may be fulfilled in us, who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. NET

Mr. Ajayi wanted his children to turn out well. He didn't like the way the children who grew up in their neighborhood all turned out. He gave his children many instructions and hard tasks that would keep them busy after school and leave them with no chance to mingle with the children of their neighborhood. When His Children were older, the Ajayis moved from that neighborhood, their father now appeared to have relaxed his rules but they could not understand why, they did not know that all their father was trying to accomplish from the beginning was that they would be good children.

All that God wanted to accomplish by the law was righteousness in the lives of people, but the law was weak because of the flesh; and this made it ultimately unable to produce true righteousness in man. Jesus came to take our sins upon Himself so that we can have access to God where we will find grace (see Heb 4:16). This grace helps Christians who walk in the spirit to fulfill true righteousness that the law could not produce (“the righteous requirements of the law”).

Go into today knowing that you have been given grace (grace for grace) to access grace for life and godliness (see John 1:16, 2Pet 1:3).

Prayer: thank you father for saving me, I pray you fill me with grace to live righteously, in Jesus name I pray. Amen

THE OLD AND NEW LAW

For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.

If you find yourself in the middle of the ocean, even if you know how to swim, you can only swim for so long, before the currents conquer you; you may resist drowning in the water but not for long. The ultimate way to avoid drowning is to get rescued in a boat or ship.

The law was unable to save us. With the law, we were like men trying to resist drowning in the ocean of sin by swimming seriously; our effort could not ultimately stand the stronger waves. Jesus brought us a life boat; He brought grace and truth- the law of the spirit of life.

One of the attributes of the old law (of sin and death) is that it is dominated by a consciousness of sin and the wages of sin is death, it ultimately produced death because it validated sin.

One of the attributes of the new law is that it is dominated by a consciousness of divine life; the grace that comes from Jesus which empowers you to conquer sin and live a victorious life. Unlike the old law, it is not dominated by a sin consciousness but by a Holy Spirit consciousness.

Go into today deciding to walk in the new law of life by trusting always in Christ; depending on His grace and ignoring the old law that is dominated by sin consciousness. Let your life be dominated by fellowship with the Holy Spirit.

Prayer: heavenly father, I pray you help me walk in the spirit always. Deliver me from the old law of sin and death, in Jesus name I pray. Amen

The disciples of Jesus were given the ability to heal the sick and cast out demons. They could do this because of the grace of God that was now upon them. This they received because of their knowledge of God and of Jesus which they experienced because they physically followed Jesus everywhere.

A day came when they were to cast out a demon from someone. They could not, they didn't have enough might(grace) for this, so they brought the person to Jesus who was full of grace, who casted out the demon promptly. When the disciples tried to find out why they could not cast out that particular demon, Jesus educated them that it was because they did not have sufficient faith and that such could only go out by prayer and fasting.

But Jesus didn't take excuse at that point to go pray and fast before casting out the demon, He was already full of grace and he revealed a key to this great grace when he mentioned PRAYER AND FASTING. He also talked about faith (with which we receive grace).

We have seen earlier that grace is multiplied through the knowledge of God and of the lord Jesus. One of the best ways to have this knowledge is to seek God’s face. An effective way to do this is by prayer and fasting. The major purposes of fasting is to seek God’s face. When you fast, you turn aside from food and pleasures to seek God's face. You do this to avoid distractions and increase your focus and sensitivity to God.

Go into today knowing that the more you seek God, the more you know Him, and the more you know God, the more His grace is multiplied in your life.

Prayer: Thank you father for the grace to seek your face. I pray you multiply this grace in my life, in Jesus name I pray. Amen.

Sometimes ago, a young warrior left home for battle with the best troop and great weapons but he could not win the battle but for an old man seated at home.

“As long as Moses held up the staff in his hand, the Israelites had the advantage. But whenever he dropped his hand, the Amalekites gained the advantage. 12 Moses’ arms soon became so tired he could no longer hold them up. So Aaron and Hur found a stone for him to sit on. Then they stood on each side of Moses, holding up his hands. So his hands held steady until sunset" Exo17:11-13. NLT

You may not be able to go for battle, but you can help lift up God's sword; you can pray and win the battle on your knees.

Some persons have sacrificed their lives for the gospel; they have left careers, homes, pleasures to take the gospel to others. If you're not one of them, your part is to pray for them.

Go into today determined to schedule time to pray for missions, missionaries, and for your pastors on a regular basis. Note that, “The one who plants and the one who waters work together with the same purpose. And both will be rewarded for their own hard work". 1 Cor 3:8 NLT

PRAYER: Thank God for making you his son.

Pray for the missionaries, pastors, evangelist that you can remember; Pray that God will strengthen them.

Pray that God's word will spread rapidly and triumph wherever it goes.

Even though growth is natural, there are certain things you do to ensure that growth continues. For example, we feed children and we know one of the results of this is that they will grow.

In God's kingdom, grace is your strength and ability to do work. If you see a man walking in great power from God and doing things that you cannot do, it is because he has grace that you do not have. The good news is that everyone can grow in grace, but does everyone get to do this?

Grace is received by faith (see Eph 2:8a). Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God. In 2 Pet 1:2, we see that grace is multiplied through the knowledge of God and of the lord Jesus Christ. This knowledge is experiential and living. It is not merely the mental knowledge about who Jesus is but it is an experience of his person.

As you go into today, determine to take practical steps to know the lord more. You can get materials that teach you His ways so you can walk in His reality. Prayer is very important in knowing God because prayer is talking and communing with Him. Determine to turn aside to seek the lord’s face in prayers from time to time. Fasting too will greatly help.

Prayer: Thank you father for another opportunity to grow in my knowledge of you. I pray you help me and teach me to grow in grace, in Jesus name I pray. Amen

Lisa was 9 years old when her parents realized that she had stopped growing, even though she didn’t know about this, her parents were worried sick. The doctor said she needed to take some hormones, and that should solve the problem.

Many Christians do not know the state of their spiritual growth; they do not know that Jesus is really concerned about it. It is abnormal for a child to stop growing; it is even more abnormal for a child of God to stop growing. As children of God, we are to continue to grow in grace.

Grace is the divine empowerment that God gives you to do the things He has called you to do, and to become the person He wants you to become, you normally cannot do these things by your strength. Gifts and manifestations of the spirit are also a product of the measure of grace on your life (see Rom 12:6).

The fact that we are told to grow in grace means we are to be able to discern the measure of grace upon our lives and take conscious steps to grow in it.

We shall subsequently examine practical steps you can take to grow in grace.

Go into today determined to grow in grace and in the knowledge of our lord Jesus. Most spiritual things received began with a desire.

 

Prayer: Thank you heavenly father for your grace upon my life. I pray you help me grow that I may please you, in Jesus name I pray. Amen

So we fix our eyes not on what is seen but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

Night times are unavoidable, they are times things don't go the way we've planned, times of challenges, disappointments and difficulty.

No matter how successful a man is, his attitude towards his night time matters a lot, his night could seem prolonged or permanent depending of his attitude towards it.

Below are outlined some simple steps to help you through your nights:

1. Always keep God's love in view, having it in mind that if God could give up His only son for you, there is nothing He cannot do for you (see Isaiah 43:4, Rom 8:32).

2. Remember your testimonies, think about the good things God has done for you in the past, those difficult times He brought you through, having this confidence that if He could do it before, He will do it again.

3. Don't think about the problem. Thinking about problems would only keep you locked in them but thinking about their solutions would create hope in your heart leading to your faith being activated (see Heb 12:2)

4. Finally, hold firm to the word of God; confess it and pray with scriptures. You can be sure that God would meet you at the point of your need.

Go into today knowing that Jesus will never leave you nor forsake you. You can find help in these scriptures; Psa 23:1-6, Psa 121:1-8.

Prayer: I thank you father because I know that victory is sure. Thank you because I will make it through every season and your name would be glorified, in Jesus name I pray. Amen.

Get rid of the old “yeast” by removing this wicked person from among you. Then you will be like a fresh batch of dough made without yeast, which is what you really are. Christ, our Passover Lamb, has been sacrificed for us. 8. So let us celebrate the festival, not with the old bread of wickedness and evil, but with the new bread of sincerity and truth. 
NLT

Jesus our Passover lamb has been sacrificed ones and for all; God did that for us. Our responsibility now is to eat bread made without yeast. Eating this bread means living your life without sin (note that yeast signifies sin). Whenever we are able to lead a holy life, we are celebrating the Passover, and it is at this point that we are separated from the world. The devil cannot hurt us and whatever we do is considered by God to be sincere and true.

Let us therefore do away with every known sin “ for sin is like a little yeast that spreads through the whole batch of dough" rather “let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most." 1Cor 5:6, Heb 4:16. NLT

Go into today determined to get rid of those little sins and accept God's grace. Read Titus 2:11-12.

Prayer: heavenly father, I come to the throne of grace that I might obtain mercy and grace to help in time of need, I accept the finished work of Christ in Jesus' name. Amen

For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any double-edged sword, piercing even to the point of dividing soul from spirit, and joints from marrow; it is able to judge the desires and thoughts of the heart. NET

Daniel could hear them talking and the mother crying, he knew the next thing they would do would be to knock on his door and ask him to help them to the hospital. Immediately, Daniel put off his lights and pretended to be sleeping. He had decided to tell them his fuel finished and his car couldn't move. It was a lie he would have told because even though his fuel was low and he was very tired and had a 7am appointment the next day, his car could still make it to the hospital and back. He eventually couldn't bring himself to lie or not help them. Even though he felt strongly about ‘acting wisely and resting properly for his all-important meeting the next day’, he had learnt from the word of God that we are to love our neighbors as ourselves. He followed the spirit’s leading and ignored the dictates of his fleshly soul; he helped his neighbors and saved their only child who was convulsing in the middle of the night.

Many times, it becomes difficult to differentiate the voice of your spirit from the voice of your soul. It is the knowledge of God’s word that will help you discern what is from God (from your renewed spirit) and what is from your fleshly soul.

Go into today knowing that God’s leading will never contradict his word that you have known.

Prayer: Thank you heavenly father because your word helps me to judge my thoughts and know which one comes from the Spirit. I pray you give me a practical knowledge of your word, in Jesus name. Amen

For the flesh has desires that are opposed to the Spirit, and the Spirit has desires that are opposed to the flesh, for these are in opposition to each other, so that you cannot do what you want. NET

Little Samuel said " I have two minds, when I want to do something that is wrong, one mind will tell me not to do it but the other mind will tell me to do it".

Even though little Samuel is a child, his experience is real for every human being. Many times, our renewed spirits communicates to us through our consciences, and our flesh communicates to us through our senses. They all converge in the mind and they contend to control us. A man who walks in the spirit is one who acts based on the signals of his spirit not the signals of his flesh.

Many times, it may be confusing to distinguish between the leading of the spirit and that which is from the fleshly soul. We shall examine this more tomorrow. The leading from your spirit is usually in line with God’s will because the Holy Spirit tabernacles your spirit; it is the one that was literally born again.

Go into today determined to walk in the spirit. Let your life not be ruled by feelings and impulses of the flesh, but by the spirit.

Prayer: Thank you Heavenly father for saving me and giving me your spirit. I pray you help me walk in the spirit always, in Jesus name I pray. Amen

FRUITFULNESS, GOD'S PERSPECTIVE

John 15:8

Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.

Sometime during Jesus' earthly ministry, He became hungry and finding a fig tree He expected fruit from it, but finding none, He became angry and cursed the tree which withered immediately. But it was told in the same story that it was not time for figs to have fruit (See Matt 21:18-19). Why should Jesus find fruit when He knows it is not time for fruit, why did he curse the fig tree, what lesson is He teaching?

The fig tree could represent individual Christians, and God's expectation is for us to be fruitful whether in season or out of season, He expects us to manifest the fruit of the spirit at all times. He is aware of the limitations our flesh poses; hence He gave His Spirit who is not limited by the flesh.

How then can one live a life that is always fruitful? It is by believing God and depending on the HOLY SPIRIT who has no limitations.

Remember that to glorify God, you must be fruitful and this must be always.

Go into today trusting the Holy Spirit to help you lead a more fruitful life.

Prayer: Help me father to remain fruitful all my life. I receive grace for fruitfulness in Jesus' name. Amen.
