DEVOTIONAL AUDIO: http://bit.ly/1JSswHL

Acts 2:42

And they continued steadfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers. [KJV]

I was watching a pile of woods burn. The fire was great and effectual. I observed that when one wood was pulled out of the pile, the fire on that wood would quench after a while, and the wood would eventually run out of heat altogether.

When Christians fellowship together, they bring their individual fires together and help each other stay on fire for Christ. Many Christians have fallen because they isolated themselves from true brethren.

We can see from today's Bible text that one of the pillars of the first church was fellowship. There is no Christian church without Christian fellowship and such fellowship does not exist without brotherly love (true affection for each other and concern for the welfare of each other).

The church is not a place for anonymity; it is a place for fellowship. There are things church leadership could consciously do to develop friendship among church members.

Sharing what you have with those that do not have and doing so in a manner that does not diminish the dignity of the person receiving is part of Christian fellowship.

Go into today knowing that as a member of God's church, you are to do everything within your power to keep the bond of peace and avoid all forms of misunderstandings and quarrels with your brethren because such is not pleasing to the Lord ( see Eph 4:3).

Prayer: thank the Lord for making you a Christian. Ask the Lord to bless you so that you can help brethren in need. Ask the Lord to empower you to cultivate and maintain true fellowship and friendship with your brethren. Amen.

WISDOM FOR LIVING 2

DEVOTIONAL AUDIO: http://bit.ly/1I2SF8C

Job 28:28

And this is what he says to all humanity: ‘The fear of the Lord is true wisdom; to forsake evil is real understanding’ [NLT]

In our previous study, we saw that as children of the Most High God, the highest wisdom is available to us to live on earth. Wisdom has been generally defined as 'the right application of knowledge’. Today we shall see how applying the fear of God in our daily living is wisdom.

The fear of God is the foundation of wisdom (Psa 111:10; Pro 9:10). The All Knowing God is the All Wise God. He - being the Creator of all things, knows what is right and what is wrong. Therefore, to fear God is to avoid whatever God says is wrong. People do not please a judge by simply fearing him. But by doing what is right, justice is on your side. Therefore, since God is a Just Judge of all His creation, avoiding evil is being wise.

We have an example in Joseph. Joseph was in a foreign land where he could easily do anything. Yet he refused to fall for Potiphar’s Wife’s seduction. Joseph told her ‘I cannot do this and sin against God’ (see Gen 39:9). This is how Joseph made all his decisions. Little wonder God gave him such wisdom that preserved an entire generation during famine. Whenever a man shuns evil, even in private, he shows he understands the fear of God and is applying that understanding in his life.

Go into today, with an understanding of the fear of God. Decide at all time to be wise by doing what is right. Choose to do what is right and leave the outcome to God.

Prayer: My Father and God, I desire your wisdom in my daily life. Put in my heart the right fear for You. Let Your fear in me guide me always.

Proverbs 4:7

The first thing [is] wisdom -- get wisdom, And with all thy getting get understanding. [YLT]

Jesus told the story of a certain rich man and his servant in Luke Chapter 16: 1-13. This rich man got report that his servant was mismanaging his resources. So he required that the servant give account of his goods. This servant, knowing he would be relieved of his job devised a strategy that ensured that his job was retained and his master greatly impressed. Jesus concluded that story by saying in Luke16:8 (KJV) 'And the lord commended the unjust steward, because he had done wisely: for the children of this world are in their generation wiser than the children of light'.

As children of the light, life should be more interesting for us. Unfortunately this is not the case with so many believers. Many will even miss heaven out of foolishness. Another story was told by Jesus Christ in Matthew 25:1-13. Ten virgins took their lamps and waited for the bridegroom. Jesus called five of them wise and the others foolish. The Foolish Five did not take extra oil along for their lamps. When the bridegroom delayed, their lamps went out and they missed him. This is how many believers would miss the mark out of sheer foolishness.

Wisdom- divine wisdom is inherent in our redemption package. 1Co 1:30 (KJV) says '... Christ Jesus... is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption'. We shall learn how to walk in this wisdom daily in our next studies.

Go into today knowing God's desire for you is to live wisely always.

Acts 2:42

And they continued steadfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers. [KJV]

Yesterday, I tried to explain that the entire New Testament, especially the epistles written by the Lord’s apostles are very necessary for the building of the church. I have come across Christians who believe some erroneous ideas that try to discredit the writings of Apostle Paul in the Bible. I have also come to discover that such ideas are a ploy from the pit of hell to stunt the growth of Christians. Anyone who only reads the books of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John in the New Testament may not understand real Christianity.

Jesus Himself said that there were so many things He wanted to teach but His disciples were not ready to receive them at the time He was physically on the earth, but that when the Holy Spirit comes, He would guide them into all truth(see John 16:12-13). What you find in the epistles are doctrines from the apostles which they received from the Lord according to His promise that they would be tough by the Holy Spirit.

One thing the doctrine of the apostles establishes in the believer is ‘Christ formed in us’ (see Gal 4:19, Jam 1:18, 1Joh 2:1-6); our lives are to be expressions of Christ on the earth.

Go into today knowing that as a Christian, you have received the ability from God to express His divine nature. His spirit lives in you and empowers you to do this.

Prayer: Thank the Lord for bringing you into this day that He is making glorious.

Ask God to empower you to live a life that expresses Christ more, on a daily basis.

The doctrine(s) of the apostles are the teachings of the apostles that can be found in the entire New Testament. We see from our Bible text that the church is to be built on the foundation of these teachings. 23 But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away; for she crieth after us. 24 But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
KJV

Before Jesus resurrected from the dead and gave His disciples the commission to take the gospel to the ends of the earth, He only sent them to the lost sheep of Israel (see Mat 10:5-6). Everyone Jesus healed then was of Jewish origin except for very few who had great faith with which they received their miracles. The point here is that Jesus’ anointing was at that time to the people of Israel because he had not yet been glorified.

One of the ways to stay filled with the spirit is to avoid distractions. Distractions for good people are not usually bad things but other good things that are not within their mission for that time. The reason why distractions are so dangerous is because the anointing that God gives you is sufficient for the assignment He has given you and not for distractions.

In order to avoid distractions, you need to constantly walk in the light of your purpose and vision per time, and identify involvements that are not enhancing them.

Go into today determined to stay filled with the spirit and avoid distractions.

Daniel did not want to make any mistakes, so as a wise officer, he asked for all the other previous successful similar letters and used them as a guide. Daniel ended up writing excellent letters that gained him more respect in the organization.

One effective way to do something that has successfully been done before is to follow the example of successful ones. This is not cluelessness but wisdom.

If you are to lead any congregation of God's people, it is best to follow the example of the first successful congregation led by the apostles of Christ. This church had four major things that they regularly did.

Today’s Bible text shows that the first church congregation continued STEADFASTLY in:

1) The Apostles’ doctrine 2) Fellowship 3) Breaking of bread 4) Prayers.

Jesus gave His Apostles the awesome responsibility of leading His church. They received their template directly from the Lord Himself, and it would be wise to follow their example in leading any local church assembly. Subsequently, we shall examine the doctrine of the apostles.

1 Corinthians 13:13: Three things will last forever—faith, hope, and love—and the greatest of these is love. [NLT]

In the beginning before God made man, He made everything man would possibly need. Yet when Adam came he felt lonely. There were beautiful trees in the garden; very friendly animals were around, but none could satisfy Adam's deepest need. So God made another human. Today we shall learn that God spreads His love from one human to another.

Only human beings were created with the capacity to appreciate the love of God. So, aside receiving love from God's Spirit as we discussed in our previous study, people can also receive true love from other people who have God's love in their hearts. Such people are compelled to spread the love of God to those who are yet to receive (2 Cor 5:14). Compassion is when we are compelled by love. No word can describe the fulfillment we get when we spread the love of God to others.

The Lord Jesus Christ told us that all men will be judged by their acts of love to others (see Mat 25:31-46). To whom much is given, much is expected. So if we received the love of God, more is expected of us. 1Jo 4:11 (KJV) says 'Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another '

Go into today with the love of God in your heart. Show to others through your acts that God loves them too.

In our previous study, we saw how man desperately needs the love of God in his heart. We shall consider the first of two important ways through which God plans to spread His love to all men.

God sheds His love directly into the hearts of His children through His Holy Spirit. Romans 5:5 [ESV] 'and hope does not put us to shame, because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.'

Love is one sure way to identify a child of God. If God is love, it is expected that His children's predominant character is love. This is made possible by the Holy Spirit which is the life of God in us. 1Jo 4:8 (KJV) tells us 'He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.'

As children of God therefore, we are the first beneficiaries of this amazing love of God. When He accepted us, He loves the same way He loves Christ (Eph1:6).

Go into today knowing God loves you the way He loves Christ. Receive the witness of the Holy Spirit into your heart and rest in God's love for you.

We are in a world starved of love. It seems there is not enough to go round. And those that have someone care for them soon discover there is more they are yearning for. What the world desperately needs is the love of God.

Agape is the Greek word used to describe the love that only God can give. Truth is, this love describes the essence of God, for God is love. (1 John 4:7-8). It speaks of a self-sacrificing love. The Lord Jesus Christ said in John 15:13 [NLT] 'There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.' How many people can go this far for their friends? And how many can do it for the ultimate cause? There is only one price for the soul of man and God paid it.

Only the love of God can fill that deep hollowness in the heart of every human. John 3:16 [NLT] “For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life” When a man accepts God's gift into his heart, God's love fills his life even for eternity.

Receive God's love today by accepting His gift of His Son.

She had forgotten that unlike the rest, everyone had higher expectations from her because they believed she was a Christian; that was why they made her treasurer in the first place. Nkechi failed to represent Christ.

Christianity is about manifesting the life of God; it is about allowing the life of Christ that you have now received by God’s grace(because no mortal deserves this life) to be seen. We all have a past, no one was born-again from the womb, we were all once unbelievers (gentiles) before Christ saved us. It is possible for us to still continue to walk after the old nature. But you need to agree that walking this way profits nothing; it produces death, but walking in the new nature of the Spirit-life produces life and peace (see Rom 8:6).

Go into today knowing that you have received the new life of Christ within you and you have the ability from God to walk in His divine nature. Resist the urge to walk as an unbeliever by going around with a God consciousness; know that God is always with you and is on your side; do not grieve Him by disobeying Him or disregarding Him in your heart. Also remember that because you now have a higher life within you; even the world has higher expectations from you.

Jesse had accepted Christ for three years now, but he still couldn't break free from his smoking habit and other dirty habits. He had sometimes stoped for up to three weeks, but would smell the ‘scent’ of cigarettes or marijuana and fall back into smoking. He was now frustrated because he knew he was not where he should be spiritually.

We can see from today's Bible text that the Lord sent His word and healed them and delivered them from THEIR DESTRUCTIONS. The presence of destructive habits is a sign of spiritual disease and they are a product of fleshly excesses. These habits inhibit spiritual fullness and hinder people from being filled with the Spirit and attaining their destinies in God.

God has a remedy for spiritual sickness and disease, the remedy is His word that he sends to you.

If you are reading today's meditation and you are under any form of bondage that is hindering you from actualizing your potential in God, there is deliverance for you. Jesus is able to save to the uttermost they that come to Him. Begin by acknowledging your sin; accepting that that thing you do that you enjoy is a sin and it is hindering you from reaching your spiritual potential. Ask the Lord to deliver you. Ask God to cleanse you and give you power not to fall again. Henceforth, depend on His grace to empower you and know that you have been forgiven this moment and made totally clean in God's sight because you have confessed (acknowledged) and forsaken your sins.

Many who came to Christ after the powerful sermon were kneeling at the altar. Joe was one of them. He took a vow that day “If everyone else deserts you, I won’t.” But as time passed, the fire went out and the zeal faded. He broke his vow; Joe was now living a life devoid of Christ.

“ And immediately the cock crowed. Then Peter remembered what Jesus had said “. Before the cock crows, you will deny me three times.” And he went away, crying bitterly"(Matthew 26:74b, 75 TLB)

One thing that makes Christians remain spiritual children is what I call spiritual malnutrition. In science today, it is a known fact that people are more vulnerable to diseases when they have bad nutrition. Bad spiritual nutrition is a product of bad doctrines and wrong teachings that Christians feed their spirits with. It is worthy of note that the way you feed your spirit is by the word of God that your spirit hears. If the word you hear is wrongly divided or adulterated by worldly traditions, you will not reach the fullness of your potential in God.

The solution to this problem is to first be open minded as a Christian; do not restrict and constrain yourself to one teacher no matter how gifted he is, because one teacher does not have all it takes to make you grow into the fullness of Christ (read Eph 4:11-14). Secondly, let the written word be your standard for judging doctrines, and try to be objective in your study of the word.

Go into today knowing that the spiritual bread of God’s word is always available if you look in the right places. God is too good to let your spirit be starved of its required food and water.

When a baby boy is born, he potentially has the capacity of a man, but he will not become a man until he has grown up. As a man, he would be able to easily do many useful things he couldn't do as a child, and take care of things. He would also be able to be trained to secure himself from danger. But as a child, he cannot do these things.

We are not to remain babes but to become sons of God. The fullness of our image is Christ glorified. We cannot walk in the fullness of Christ’s glory until we grow into His image. The more we grow spiritually, the more Christ is formed in us and the fleshly nature is shed away.

We see from today’s text that the way to grow up into Christ is by practicing the truth in love.

There are so many benefits of growing up into Christ that cannot be attained by a Christian who has refused to grow. If for some reason, a child does not grow up to become an adult; maybe because of a disease or a hormonal disorder, that child would never be able to do the things of an adult. There are many reasons people don't grow up into the fullness of Christ. We shall study some of these reasons subsequently.

Go into today knowing that God's plan for you is for you to be as Christ is(see 1 Joh 4:17). Let the knowledge of this reality guide your desire for spiritual growth.

Praying should not only be about talking, it should involve talking and listening to God. God wants to lead us every time but we have to train ourselves to be still and listen for His leading. Sometimes, He simply enlightens our minds in the place of prayer so that we can remember certain things or see things more clearly and objectively. He sometimes quickens our understanding so that we can do what is right. There are so many ways the Holy Spirit helps us in the place of prayer. Note that He always leads us ‘beside still waters’. PRAYING IN THE SPIRIT 1

image

DEVOTIONAL AUDIO: http://bit.ly/1TBGB3i

Rom 8:26

Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. KJV

Segun got an email from the multinational company that had given him the job. The email basically said he should wait for about two more weeks before coming to Shanghai for the contract signing; that they wanted to complete an investigation on him. Segun could not understand why a company that was putting pressure on him to quickly come and resume work would begin to sound as if they did not want to engage him anymore.

Segun began to pray in tongues; that was the only thing he could find himself doing. His spirit stirred him to pray this way for up to two hours. He prayed until he started to get answers in his heart. He suddenly had a knowing that this was the handy work of Paschal Shu; that Paschal had written to accuse him of being a fraud and unable to execute the job. Immediately, Segun received wisdom; he knew what to do… (to be continued).

Many times, we face situations we think we understand but do not, and our prayers are not addressing the real issues. The Holy Spirit helps us in such situations. Let’s learn to let Him do this by leaning on Him in the place of prayer.

Go into today encouraged to pray in the Spirit more than ever before.

Prayer:

· Thank God for the Holy Spirit.

· Ask Him to empower you to pray.

· Begin to Pray in the Spirit as God leads you.

ABIDE IN CHRIST 6

image

Eph 4:2-4

Always be humble and gentle. Be patient with each other, making allowance for each other's faults because of your love. 3 Make every effort to keep yourselves united in the Spirit, binding yourselves together with peace. NLT

Segun: Ever since I got this job, bro Emeka has been acting strange because of envy, and I think he is also interested in sis Stacy.

Pas Felix: the grudge you have against him is what is hindering your sweet fellowship with the Holy Spirit. And you know that you cannot afford that disconnection from grace, not at a precarious time like this…

Everyone who has received the Holy Spirit shares in the same spirit with other Christians who also have the Holy Spirit. This is how God creates unity in the Body of Christ. The solution to disunity in any local congregation is to lead the people to be baptized in the Holy Spirit and teach them to stay filled with the Spirit at all times.

If Christians allow disunity because they don’t make allowance for each other’s faults, they will be allowing a disconnection from the Holy Spirit. So it is safe to say that one of the ways to stay filled with the Spirit is to avoid disunity among brethren. If you are married to a believer, one of the ways to stay filled with the Spirit is to avoid disunity with your spouse.

Go into today knowing that God expects you to make allowance for other people’s faults because you love them; don’t do this any less than you would do for your own self. If it is true you have no fault; that thought is a fault.

Prayer:

· Thank our heavenly Father for making you a Christian.

· Ask for the grace to continue in genuine love for your brethren and neighbors. Amen

THE WILL OF GOD

image

DEVOTIONAL AUDIO: http://bit.ly/1fBxUHM

Eph 5:17

Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.

KJV

The will of God is made known through His Word and our daily walk with the Holy Spirit.

All of existence takes bearing from God’s will because the world was formed and continues to exist according to God’s word and will (see Heb 1:3).

It is therefore wisdom to understand and do the will of God, as you would be propelled by the greatest force in the universe; for all things were fashioned to move in the direction of God’s will.

Go into today, seeking to know God’s purpose and counsel for your life; relationships, career and eternal destination, and walk in it.

PRAYER:

· Sing a song of thanksgiving to the Lord for His faithfulness all these years. It is because of His mercies that we are not consumed.

· Thank the Lord for bring you to this brand new week.

· Pray that the Lord will establish you in His will and ask for His mercy and grace as you go into this week.

· Pray for Streamglobe Devotional; that God’s word shall prosper through it.

· Amen.

THE NEW COVENANT 2

image_thumb[2]

DEVOTIONAL AUDIO: http://bit.ly/1D72kq8

Luke 6:27:

But I say unto you that hear, Love your enemies, do good to them that hate you, 28 bless them that curse you, pray for them that despitefully use you. (ASV)

Pastor Felix reminded Segun that he was not to be afraid of anything that is of the world because he is now born of God. ”Segun, remember that the blood of Jesus that you regularly drink on the communion table is the most powerful blood in the universe; It is the blood of the son of God who knew no sin; it speaks better things than any blood that tries to accuse you in the spirit realm. I want you to stop worrying about what will happen to you and start interceding for that man who is threatening you. He needs your help because he has just incurred upon himself God’s judgment. It will be terrible for him if he does not repent”

Segun: Pastor, I must confess, interceding for Mr. Shu is the last thing that comes to my mind. I want Him to see God’s rapid judgment.

Pas Felix: That is the flesh speaking, but if you choose to deal with this issue by the Spirit, you will realize that you are so much higher than him in the spirit realm and all he needs is your mercy. I’m sure you know that there is nothing this man can do to you. You on the other hand can claim his salvation because of your mercy for Him.

Before you go to Shanghai, pray in the spirit and gain that inner peace that the Holy Spirit supplies. This is very important. Whenever anything attempts to steal your peace, this is what you should do; cast your cares on Christ.

Prayer:

Thank the Lord for bringing you to this day. Ask Him to help you always walk in His will for you. Amen

THE NEW COVENANT 1

DEVOTIONAL AUDIO: http://bit.ly/1D72kq8

Luke 22:20

And in the same way He took the cup after they had eaten, saying, "This cup which is poured out for you is the new covenant in My blood. NASU

Segun had been invited by a multinational company to overhaul and upgrade their ICT department. He didn’t solicit for this big job but was shortlisted and given the job because of His vast skills. You see, since Segun started being constantly filled with the Holy Spirit, he had become so good at what he did that he became noticed and admired everywhere.

Paschal Shu, an Indian ICT guru who was also highly involved in the occult had been calling Segun to threaten him. Shu wanted the job Segun was offered so he decided to take the battle spiritual. He had called Segun several times instructing him to turn down the job; that if Segun didn’t, Segun was going to become very sick and die within days. “Do you know who you are talking to, I am real guru and I drink blood every night; when I tell you something, it must happen”. This was part of what Shu told Segun in their last phone conversation.

Segun called Pastor Felix to discuss the issue. His flight to Shanghai was already scheduled, but Segun was now getting afraid. Pastor Felix laughed when Segun said “I am really getting afraid, do you know that this man is so powerful; he drinks blood!” Pastor Felix reminded Segun that he too drinks blood because he regularly partook in the flesh and  blood of Christ through the communion table(…to be continued).

Go into today knowing that you are a partaker of a covenant with God that has been ratified with the precious blood of Jesus.

Prayer Confession: I am walking in the covenant of life. I reject every form of death in Jesus name.

DWELLING IN CHRIST 5 B

image

AUDIO VERSION: http://bit.ly/1MjxpMB

Eph 4:29-30

29 You must let no unwholesome word come out of your mouth, but only what is beneficial for the building up of the one in need,c that it may give grace to those who hear. 30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. NET

Pastor Felix explained to Segun why anyone who constantly grieves the Holy Spirit cannot be filled with His presence; one very common way people grieve the Holy Spirit is by what they say. "did you notice that Ephesians 4 verse 29 talks about grieving the Holy Spirit just after admonishing us not to let unwholesome talk come out of our mouths? You see, God has given us the privilege of choice and because you are a Christian, you have more power of choice because nothing can have excessive dominion over you, not even sin that currently dominates the entire human race. Choose at all times to speak right and do right, choose to say things that edify and encourage. Do not be negative in your speech". Pastor Felix went on to explain to Segun that when we constantly talk anyhow, or say words that do not edify, we are grieving the Holy Spirit.

As you go into today, determine to please God with the words you say. Let God's praise fill your mouth always.

Prayer:

· Sing a praise song to the Lord.

· Thank the Lord for waking you up this morning.

· Ask the Holy Spirit to always remind you to choose to say the right words. Amen

INSTRUCTIONS FOR LIVING 3

image_thumb[2]

AUDIO VERSION: http://bit.ly/1fprkUO

Mat 22:39-40
And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets. (KJV)

Two basic instructions were given by the Lord in the main text above. We shall examine these simple, all-important instructions for living a life that pleases God and reveal the power to obey them.

A wise man said in Eccl 12:13-14 that the whole duty of man is to fear God and keep His commandments. Going by the words of Christ in Mat 22:36-40 that all the law hangs on love, we can put it simply; man's whole duty is to love God and his fellow human beings.

Let us simplify this further. 1Jo 4:20-21 (KJV) says '... he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen? And this commandment have we from him, That he who loveth God love his brother also.' To love God is to love a fellow brother.

So what does it mean to love a fellow brother? We have the answer in Mat 7:12 (NIV)'... In everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets'.

You can live your life on this rule and you will hardly go wrong. In fact, the Lord Jesus illustrated how love is the basis of God's judgment (See Mat 25:31-46). When we are in Christ, we are empowered by His Spirit to love as God truly wants.

Go into today with the heart of love. Look at every issue and everyone from the perspective of love.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, please shed Your love abroad in my heart. Help me to love sincerely by Your Holy Spirit. Amen.

STRENGTH COMES FROM GOD'S GRACE

image

AUDIO VERSION :

http://bit.ly/1HeW189

Heb 13:8-9

8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. 9 So do not be attracted by strange, new ideas. Your strength comes from God's grace, not from rules about food, which don't help those who follow them.

NLT

Remember today that your strength as a child of God comes from God’s grace and not from keeping any rules. People limit the work of God in their lives when they neglect the grace of God and think they can be made perfect (sanctified) by laws; bringing yourself under laws only gives Satan(the accuser) an opportunity to afflict you(see Gal 3:10).

Rules and regulations cannot help a man with an unregenerated heart; all they will do is to produce a hypocrite. Only God’s grace has the ability to change our minds and hearts into the image of Christ. This Grace works by faith and total submission to the lordship of Christ administered by the Holy Spirit within us.

Go into today knowing that you are not under laws but under the grace of God that produces genuine righteousness, peace and joy.

Prayer:

Sing a song of praise and worship to the Lord

Thank the Lord for saving you by His grace

Ask Lord to strengthen you in grace and deliver you from deception, evil and all your fears.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR LIVING 2

image

AUDIO VERSION: http://bit.ly/1J1vg5b

1 John 5:3

Loving God means keeping his commandments, and his commandments are not burdensome. [NLT]

In our previous study, we saw how it is important to know and follow the instructions in an examination. A student should answer test questions in the way that pleases his examiner. Instructions provide the guide for the student to achieve this. Life is not to be lived the way that pleases us. Life is to be lived the way that pleases God- the Author of life. And today we shall learn that pleasing God is no hard task at all.

Many people run away from God because they think that God is a Kill-Joy. It is the same old lie of the devil. The same way he told Eve that God was denying them the 'good life'. God gave a simple instruction in the garden, but the devil deceived man with that lie. God is no kill-joy. In His presence is fullness of joy and pleasures evermore (Psa 16:11).

God is our Father, not a task master. He would not make laws that are burdensome for us His children. Jesus simplified the laws of God and made power available for us to keep His instructions. He said in Matthew 11:28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest". And in verse 30 "... My yoke is easy and my burden is light.” God's instructions are not a burden, they are a delight.

Next time, we shall examine two simple instructions for living as prescribed by the Lord Jesus Himself.

Go into today knowing that pleasing God is not hard at all.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, I declare that I love You. I desire to live a life that pleases You and I know it is not a burden. Help me to understand this truth that I my teach others. Amen.  Not yet saved? Click here: http://po.st/QJ7qx3

GO FOR THE WORD

image

AUDIO: http://bit.ly/1KFfse8

1 John 4:4

But you belong to God, my dear children. You have already won a victory over those people, because the Spirit who lives in you is greater than the spirit who lives in the world.[NLT]

David did not understand why his uncle was such an angry man; his father had the same problem. David’s uncle once sent the entire household out of the house at night just because they wouldn't be quite enough to let him hear the evening news on television. David feared he himself might have the same problem because even his grandfather was rumored to have angrily beaten his wife to her death. He had read in in the Bible that anger lies in the bosom of fools so he had decided he didn't want to be foolish in life, he wanted a break from this family iniquity.

David decided to pray about this problem because it has begun to really bother him. One evening while switching channels to find something interesting on television, he heard a preacher saying these words ‘You have already won a victory over those people, because the Spirit who lives in you is greater than the spirit who lives in the world’. It was like he had never heard this Bible verse before; he now knew and believed that He was from God and this made Him an overcomer over every family or ancestral limitation- He had received his deliverance.

The surest way to receive lasting deliverance is by the truth of God’s word; when a word becomes true and real to you. Jesus says “you shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free”(see Joh 8:32).

As you go into today, go for the word. Whatever situation you are facing, remember that the answer is in God’s word.

Prayer:

· Thank the Lord for this day and this new week

· Ask the Lord to fill you with His presence today and cause His words to become real to you.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR LIVING 1

image

AUDIO VERSION: http://bit.ly/1CTip2Q

1 Thessalonians 4:1

As for other matters, brothers and sisters, we instructed you how to live in order to please God, as in fact you are living. Now we ask you and urge you in the Lord Jesus to do this more and more.[NIV]

David walked confidently into Dr. Chime's office. The conversation below ensued between both of them.

DAVID: Good morning, Dr. Chime. Good to see you sir.
DR. CHIME: Good morning, David. Please have your seat.
DAVID:.I have come with respect to my performance in the last GHE 405 test. I am surprised to see the poor score. I am sure there is a mix up sir. I remember the test was easy for me.
DR. CHIME: I expected you to come so I have your paper handy. David, I feel sorry for you but you violated a major procedure in your approach to the questions. Obviously, you did not read the instructions.

David held the paper in his hands with his eyes fixed on the instructions. He remembered he did not read them at all on the examination day. That simple omission has cost him so much.

This is how many people live their lives. They are so sure they are doing it right and do not bother to check the Manual. God is the Creator of life and He alone can instruct us aright. Every Streamglobe Devotional is designed to draw instructions from God's words. Following God's instructions is the foundation for a successful life.

In this series, we shall yet consider a few basic instructions especially as they relate to pleasing God.

Go into today, with a heart to follow God's instruction. Know that your life and eternity depends on them.

Prayer: Help me Lord Jesus to obey Your instructions for living. Let me not to rely on my own understanding. Amen.
