Colossians 4:2
Be earnest and unwearied and steadfast in your prayer [life], being [both] alert and intent in [your praying] with thanksgiving. AMP
Christians are not to be led by laws but by the Holy Spirit. We are however to be guided by precepts which are elements of the doctrine of Christ that has been handed over to us by the apostles. They are guidelines that simply make it easier for us to fulfill our destinies in God.
One good example is the one before us in today’s Bible text. We are encouraged and instructed to be earnest, unwearied and steadfast in prayer; being both alert and intent in our praying. Being earnest in prayer means praying heartfelt; fervent prayers. Many Christians pray but their prayers are far from fervent; they pray as if it’s a chore and not a real connection with God. Many pray and are not really intent in their prayer; they pray about something and act as if they have not prayed about it. Many are also not steadfast, they only pray when they feel like, or are in need, or are in a group where prayer is required. It is recommended that you develop a daily prayer habit and pray for a certain moments of every day. For example, you can choose to pray for one hour from 11pm to 12am every day. Also know that your prayers are powerful; therefore let them be enveloped in thanksgiving because this power (of prayer) does not come from you but from the Lord.
Go into today determining to develop a workable prayer schedule. Make sure to have a vibrant and active prayer life and let your prayers be fervent.
Pray that the Lord will release upon you afresh the spirit of grace and supplication. Pray that the Holy Spirit will teach you more to pray.
