John 6:27
But don't be so concerned about perishable things like food. Spend your energy seeking the eternal life that the Son of Man can give you. For God the Father has given me the seal of his approval." [NLT]
One of the greatest temptations Christians face is the temptation of serving mammon rather than serving God. We need money to stay alive and serve God. But if we are not careful, we may discover that every decision we take in life is based on a quest to get more money rather than the desire to please God and fulfill His purpose. This is not how it should be for Christians. Every decision we take after coming to know God should be based on His kingdom purpose for our lives. He promises that if we do this, He would take care of every other thing (see Mat 6:33).
One of the ways to know what dominates the heart of a Christian is by checking his prayers. Are your prayers dominated by issues that money can solve (mammon) or by things pertaining to God’s kingdom and righteousness in your life and in your environment? This is a way to know whether your mind is set on the kingdom or on temporal things of this world (Read Col 3:2).
Go into today examining your prayers and making appropriate adjustments.
Prayer: Lord please purify my heart and help me set my priority on your kingdom and righteousness. Amen. Not yet saved? Tap: http://bit.ly/1iTOmol
