Acts 1:8
But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. [KJV]
Dele was now a Christian for three months. He knew in his heart that he had been transformed and He now loved the Lord. But his best friends and colleagues at work did not know this; they couldn’t sense the difference in Dele’s life. He was still that old Dele that they all knew. All this changed when Dele received the Holy Spirit. His life was transformed because he had now received the power to be a witness for Jesus. Everyone around him knew that there was something new, alive and refreshing about his personality- he had now received power to be a witness for Christ.
Some Christians are the only ones who know that they are born again; this is because there is no noticeable transformation in their lives for others to see. The transformation that Jesus brings is not one that can be hidden nor is it one that can be engineered for others to see because of acting. It is a tangible transformation that changes the substance of your personality. This only happens after the Holy Spirit has come upon you (see Acts 1:8); the power that enables you to be a witness for Christ comes from the Holy Spirit.
I like to define a witness for Christ as a person whose contact with you produces an experience of Christ.
Go into today determining to yield to the Holy Spirit that is within you. This is the way to walk in the spirit and be a witness for Christ.
Prayer: Thank the Lord for bringing you to His light. Ask the Lord to empower today to represent Him well. Amen.
