Mt 26:30
And when they had
sung a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives [ESV]
Singing is one of the things God wants us to always
do as Christians.
After they had eaten and talked, Jesus and his
disciples sang a hymn before leaving for their next destination. When we come
together as believers, such singing should not be lacking. Ephesians 5:18-19 makes
us understand that being filed with the spirit entails not only singing and
making joyful melody in our hearts to the Lord with thanks giving, but excitedly
talking to one another in psalms and hymns too. O What Joy!
Singing is an outflow of our spirit. With the inner
source of joy resident in our spirit, singing would naturally flow out. This joy
is a function of our fellowship with the Holy Spirit. We should never let
ourselves get to the point where we are no more excited about the Holy Spirit’s
presence within us.
Paul said, I will sing with the spirit, and I
will sing with the understanding also (1Cor 14:15). And David said, My heart is
ready, God, my heart is ready; I will sing, and make music for you (Ps 57:7).
Make every circumstance a singing opportunity. Remember Paul and Silas in
prison.
Go into today bearing in mind that the Lord has
said in Isa 65:14 “Behold, my servants shall sing for joy of heart”. Do not let
your heart be ever void of thanksgiving, worship and singing to the Lord. This is
a secret of being filled with the Spirit at all times.
Prayer: Lord, fill me afresh with your Spirit,
that my joy may awake and cause me to sing always in Jesus Name. Make a joyful
noise! Not yet saved? Click: http://bit.ly/1iTOmol
