Joh 18:36
Jesus answered, "My kingdom is not of this world. If my kingdom were of this world, my servants would have been fighting, that I might not be delivered over to the Jews. But my kingdom is not from the world." [ESV]
How often do you realize that you are not of this world? Is it ingrained in your mindset? Do you live consciously as a person from another world? A person of a different kind of civilization?
This was how Jesus lived during his days on earth. He would declare severally “I am from above... I am not of this world” (see Joh 8:23). You may say, well, that's Jesus, He is God, He truly came down from Heaven. But hear what Jesus says concerning his disciples like you “They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world” (see Joh 17:16). And also, Gal 4:26 says the Jerusalem above is free, and she is our mother. Meaning that the City of God is our motherland, and our country of origin.
This awareness and confession that we are from above ought to be a consistent one. From our starting Bible verse, we see that Jesus, even in the face of a death sentence, neither changed his confession nor denounced his assertions.
Firstly, He prevented His disciples from fighting to protect Him. Secondly, He had a consciousness that He could call for help from above if He wanted to (see Mat 26:52, 53). Thirdly, He submitted to the demand of His kingdom- He died on the cross.
We can consistently live from above, living by the principles and lifestyle that our kingdom affords us. Go into today with this understanding
PRAYER: Lord, quicken me by your Spirit, to live a life that is consistent with your kingdom. Help me judge the things of this world according to the light of the knowledge of your truth. Amen.
