Isaiah 53:5 [NKJV]
But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed.
By the time Nkechi was 20, she knew that there was a spiritual problem in her family. Nkechi had four sisters whose marriages did not last more than two years. She knew that there was a curse in their household, but she did not know that that curse was predicated on a family iniquity. You see, the ladies who would have broken homes would have lived reckless immoral lives all through their teenage to early adult years. And that was the pattern in their family.
Nkechi was introduced to an immoral lifestyle by the age of 13. But she became born again when she was 18. As the Lord gave her insight into her family’s problem, she understood the pattern of the curse and how the demons responsible were vengeful demons that sought to destroy her family members. The curse was a kind of chastisement for iniquity. Nkechi received her freedom when she understood that Jesus has taken the chastisement for her sins. She broke the power of that curse over her life by using the sword of God's word in today's Bible verse.
Today's Bible verse is one that really helped me understand the grace of the Lord Jesus. He went through so much suffering so that we who believe in Him wouldn’t have to suffer again for our sins. He has taken our curses upon himself and saved us from them (see Gal 3:13). He has taken the pain and shame that I should have suffered. He has brought me great gain and healing by His stripes. The key is believing in Him and accepting His government over your life (confess the LORD Jesus).
Go into today thanking the Lord for what He has done for you.
