Ephesians 4:2 (AMP)
Living as becomes you] with complete lowliness of mind (humility) and meekness (unselfishness, gentleness, mildness), with patience, bearing with one another and making allowances because you love one another.
Daniel was reputed for being a man of integrity, but he was also harsh and impatient. He ended up earning a bad name for Christians in his place of work. Many of his students said he was a wicked lecturer.
One thing that differentiates righteousness born from faith and righteousness mingled with legalism is the love and gentleness from which the integrity, firmness, and uprightness emanates. When your uprightness is of faith, you will be loving and gentle.
When uprightness is not wrapped with patience and kindness, you will end up scaring people away from the kingdom and not attracting them to it.
We see in today’s Bible text that we are to make allowances for one another's faults because of love. When you truly love someone, you will not be quick to highlight his faults, you will be quick to cover them up and make excuses for them.
Think about how much God makes allowances for your faults and forgives your many sins. Shouldn’t you also be kind hearted in making allowances for your fellow Christian brethren?
Go into today, deciding to make allowances for the faults of your brothers and sisters. Ask the Lord to help you be more kind and loving like Him.
