Rev 3:3-5 [NET]
3 Therefore, remember what you received and heard, and obey it, and repent. If you do not wake up, I will come like a thief, and you will never know at what hour I will come against you. 4 But you have a few individuals in Sardis who have not stained their clothes, and they will walk with me dressed in white, because they are worthy.

Tade told several lies in the office, and because of this he felt so guilty that he could not pray (fellowship with God) properly. He tried to convince himself that there was nothing really wrong with what he did, but he still could not get over the guilt.

When he acknowledged his sin before God and repented, he no longer bore the guilt of that sin because he was now cleansed.

In today’s Bible text, the Lord said there were some among the Christians in Sardis who had not stained their clothes. When Christians walk in sin [the flesh], their spiritual clothes are stained. This input guilt and make them lack the boldness to fellowship with God. If this continues for long, they would die spiritually because fellowship with God is the source of spiritual life (see Rom 8:13). But when Christians confess their sins (repent), the blood of Jesus cleanses them [their garments] and washes away the guilty conscience. Confessing your sins is not informing God about your sins because He already knows; it is acknowledging that what you did is a sin, and repenting.

1 John 1:8-9: If we say we do not bear the guilt of sin, we are deceiving ourselves and the truth is not in us. 9 But if we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous, forgiving us our sins and cleansing us from all unrighteousness.

The cleansing [by the blood] takes away the guilt [of sin] and makes us able to boldly fellowship with God (see Heb 10:22).
