2 Corinthians 5:10 (NET)
For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may be paid back according to what he has done while in the body, whether good or evil.
God measures our work according to what He has ordained us to do here on earth. It is very sad that there are many Christians who do not know that God has an assignment for them here on earth. They simply live for themselves and have no power with God.
It is more gainful and fulfilling to live for Christ than to live for you. When you start living to fulfill Christ’s purpose, everything in your life becomes a variable that God uses for your good [the fulfillment of His eternal purpose in you]. Life becomes meaningful and joyful.(see Rom 8:28, 14:17).
Such people would have so much command over life that they get to determine when they would leave this world. They are those who live for Christ and not for themselves anymore. Paul was such a person, he could determine that he was not ready to die yet (see Philippians 1:21-25). His secret was in this phrase: ‘for me to live is Christ’. This meant that for Paul, living was only about fulfilling the purpose of Christ. This is the life every Christian has been called to (see 2 Cor 5:15).
Go into today remembering that you will stand one day before the judgment seat of Christ. He will judge our works and reward us according to our faithfulness.
Prayer: Ask the Lord to help you live in such a way that you will be greatly rewarded on that day.
