Psalm 119:105 (KJV)
105 Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.
Amaka wondered why her marriage was not working. She and her husband had been married for four years, but the last year was very difficult for them. They were always quarreling and couldn’t see things the same way. But Amaka was sure that the person she married was God’s will. So was her husband.
The decisions you make within marriage is as important as the ones you take in determining who to marry. The fact that you married someone who is the will of God for you is no guarantee that you are going to have a successful marriage. What guarantees a successful marriage is your conduct after you have married the right person.
God himself was the one who chose a wife for Adam, but I would hardly call that marriage a success. When a marriage produces a first child who murders his younger brother, it is hardly a success.
Even if your husband or wife was literally brought to you by God Himself, you would have to live according to God’s will for that marriage to be a success.
God’s law is love. Love your spouse as you love yourself. Treat the other person with honor; the way you would want to be treated, and better. Would you blame you or would you want a little understanding if you found yourself in the same situation as the other person? That’s how to be kind, in love.
Go into today remembering that God’s word is the key to success in every area of life. Let His word and will control your life, and you cannot fail.
Prayer: Lord, please help me to let your word control my life. Amen.
