Proverbs 19:14 (KJV)
House and riches are the inheritance of fathers: and a prudent wife is from the LORD.
The first time I saw my wife on a photograph I was transfixed. I had this feeling I already knew her and then eventually when we got close, I then realized she indeed was a God tailored match for me. It wasn't until I started going through my past meditations, prayer points, various steps I've taken and some I've ignored that I realized that I actually had to work by faith for her. How then can one say that it is love at first sight? To me, that's like faith without works. Rather I call it "Love at Faith's sight"
Love works when effort and commitment is put into it. God didn't just decide one day to start loving us. It says He loves us from everlasting (Jeremiah 31:3) even before we were made or born (Romans 9:11,13). So also a man must conceive the love for the woman he hasn't met through the spirit in his heart. This way, physical, cultural, ethical or even religious attributes alone won't be the factor.
So it becomes love born out of the Spirit. Love is a fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22) not just based on mere sight or feelings. If so then it must require faith which in itself is propelled by love (Galatians 5:6).
In the story of Isaac and Rebecca, Isaac was found meditating until Rebecca became a reality (Genesis 24:63). He afterward received comfort which suggested he must have prayed for a wife virtuous as his mother (Genesis 24:66-67). So while some may call it love at first sight, now you know it's actually at faith's sight. As it is for the man, this reasoning can also be applied from a woman's perspective.
You know, I'd pray often that 'God if any woman will not make me serve you better than what I am presently doing, then let her not come my way'. That's faith's sight. That and other prayer forms begin to shape this person in the spirit. When eventually he or she comes, you'll then know.
Love at faith's sight demands that you see in the spirit the type of person you want to marry, and work on yourself based on those attributes you desire to see in your future spouse. I believe somewhere God will begin to orchestrate and initiate the person to also seek and develop those desired and matching attributes, and this continues even after you finally meet.
