18 There is a sense in which sexual sins are different from all others. In sexual sin we violate the sacredness of our own bodies, these bodies that were made for God-given and God-modeled love, for "becoming one" with another.
The sense in which sexual sins are different from others is that it violates the sacredness of your body. It is about the believer’s body. It is the crux of the matter; your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit.
1 Cor 6:19
19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?
God doesn’t dwell in temples made with hands (Acts 7:7:48), he now indwells the believer through the person of the Holy Spirit (John 14:16, 17; 1 John 4:4).
You have been bought with a price, that price is the life/blood of Jesus. The Old Testament law was strict and stringent on the honoring/defilement of the tabernacle/temple and transgression then could be met with death.
The sin/act of fornication is a spiritual mystery that transcends just the physical, a joining of sorts occurs when you engage in sexual intercourse (1 Cor 6:16 MSG). When you engage in sexual intercourse outside the provisions of God; WHICH IS MARRIAGE, you violate his command, circumvent his wisdom and defile His temple. When you take your body and join it with another, you are taking that which belongs to God and using it unlawfully; you are abusing the temple of the Holy Spirit.
Go into today knowing that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit and that keeping it undefiled is the will of God.
