1 Corinthians 10:21 KJV
Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils: ye cannot be partakers of the Lord's table, and of the table of devils.
I remember that meal times in the boarding house caused anxiety because there existed the possibility of one forfeiting his meal that day. Student diners must be assigned to a particular table and must be eaten according to schedule. Failure to comply with this arrangement, lateness or having incorrect cutleries, may result in a student going hungry that day.
Idolatry is an obvious error by those who claim to be believers but partake of the devil's table via activities such as using charms, occultism, soothsaying etc. There are also other subtler forms that are equally as bad as the more obvious one. Both are in danger of judgment and missing out on God’s kingdom (1 Cor 6:9-10, Gal 5:19-21, Eph 5:5-7).
In John chapter 6 verses 41,48,51,53 to 58, Christ unequivocally calls His flesh (The Word) food and His blood drink, which we must all partake of if we must have life. It then follows that by salvation and our subsequent meditation on the word, we eat from the Lord's Table. But by contrast, engaging in that (such as literature, audio or visual content) which appeals to sin and the flesh's sensuality (for example pornography) is us eating from the devil's table.
Go into today, partaking continuously of the Lord's Table with the strict diet of the word even in the face of adversity or doubt. As you do so, God's overflowing goodness and mercy will never depart from your life (Ps 23:5-6).
Prayer: Lord, please help me to feed only from your table and grow. Amen.
