Psalm 51:16 (KJV)
Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts: and in the hidden part thou shalt make me to know wisdom.
Luke was troubled because he knew he was not walking in the power of God like he needed to.
He prayed all night almost every night, fasted often, and read his Bible ardently. But he realized that one of his brothers who didn't do as much as he did had a more robust relationship with the Lord and walked more in God's power and glory.
Luke started asking the Lord why despite all his effort, he didn't seem to see more of the Lord’s power and glory in his life as a minister. He knew something was wrong but he did not know what it was. As he kept on asking, the Lord revealed to him one morning that the reason was because he was not a person of integrity in his dealings with people. The Lord reminded him of how he would give his word and fail, make promises and forget, etc. He repented that day and things began to change.
We all desire to walk in greater grace as children of God. Grace is the power of God that makes us live supernatural lives naturally. Jesus was full of grace and truth (John 1:14). Grace and truth go together. A dishonest man cannot walk in great grace. A man who makes his words fall to the ground (in not keeping his word) cannot walk in great grace.
Go into today remembering that the tongue and the power thereof is very important in the appropriation of grace. Those whose lips are deceitful cannot use those same lips to command divine power.
Prayer: ask the Lord to help you speak and live for Him. Ask Him to purify your tongue so that you can walk in higher grace (Read Isaiah 6:5-7).
