We Are Christ's Body

🔊Audio Version Here ☞ bit.ly/aud1870

1 Corinthians 12:27 (NET)
Now you are Christ’s body, and each of you is a member of it.

Because of the way she grew up, Sandra had a terrible inferiority complex. Her mother made her believe she was not as talented and valuable as her other sisters because she was not as beautiful and outgoing.

After Sandra believed in the Lord Jesus, she still struggled with inferiority complex and insecurity until she heard a Teaching based on today's Bible verse. She was made to understand that her salvation was no coincidence and that even her birth into this world was because God had predestined her unto salvation before the foundation of the world (see Eph 1:4, Rev 17:8, 13:8), and that she was now a member of the body of Christ. No member of the body of Christ should ever feel inferior in this world because "as He is so also are we in this world" (1 John 4:17).

All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to the Lord Jesus (Matt 28:18). As a member of His body, you share in this authority. As a member of the body of Christ, no sickness, demon or situation can kill you before your time. You are more than a conqueror because you are a member of the body of Christ (Rom 8:37).

Disciples of Christ that believe this truth are the ones who walk in it. They expect life to respond to them the way it would respond to Christ because they are members of Christ's body. When believers come together in unity, we can invoke the full power of Christ’s body because we (together) are Christ’s body (see Matt 16:19, Matt 18:18, John 20:23).

Go into today confessing and constantly reminding yourself that you are a member of the body of Christ. Expect to see life respond to you differently because of this reality that is being activated in your life through faith.

Prayer: Lord, help me to see me, the way you see me.

Gifts and Fruitfulness: Faith

🔊Audio Version Here ☞ bit.ly/aud1869

Dan 2:16 (BET)
So Daniel went in, and desired of the king that he would give him time, and that he would shew the king the interpretation.

Lanre was in a quandary, what should he do?
It was in church after the Wednesday midweek service as they were saying the grace, he heard clearly in the spirit “Go and meet Bosun, I have a word for him”. But Lanre was having a battle with himself, how will I, a 19-year-old boy go meet the Choir leader, what will I tell him? What if I meet him and no (further) words come and I’ll be looking like a fool. How am I even sure that this is not my mind playing tricks on me? What should Lanre do? Better still, what would you do?

In our text today, the king had already ordered the killing of all the wise men and astrologers of Babylon because they couldn’t tell him his dream and its interpretation. The astrologers and wise men of Babylon had cried out that such a task was only possible for gods whose dwelling was not with men, they didn’t know any better. But Daniel went to the king asking for some time so he could come up with the dream and its interpretation. Note that when Daniel went in to the king he had neither the dream nor its interpretation, but he had his faith. He had faith in the God of heaven, he had faith that he could receive from the Lord.

To be fruitful with your gifts, you must have faith that the gift of God can and will flow through you. Take a cue from Peter and John in Acts 3:6,12,16.

Go into today remembering that the power is not yours but Jesus’ but he has given you the authority to use His power; have faith that this power will flow through you and by so doing give expression to your gifts.
Prayer: Lord, please help my unbelief and help me walk in my gifts.

Gifts and Fruitfulness: Prayer

🔊Audio Version Here ☞ bit.ly/aud1868

Daniel 1:17 (NKJV)  As for these four young men, God gave them knowledge and skill in all literature and wisdom; and Daniel had understanding in all visions and dreams.

Daniel 2:17-19 (NKJV)  Then Daniel went to his house, and made the decision known to... his companions, that they might seek mercies from the God of heaven concerning this secret, so that Daniel and his companions might not perish with the rest of the wise men of Babylon.
Then the secret was revealed to Daniel in a night vision...

Have you been baptized with the Holy Spirit? Ever prayed for a gift of the Spirit? Or ever had a word of prophecy about you proclaiming that you have a gift of the Spirit and yet you have never seen yourself walk in it? 1 Cor 12:7 tells us that the manifestation of the Spirit is given to profit all. This aim becomes defeated when a gift is not put to use.

In the text today we see that Daniel was endowed with a gift which we can identify as the discernment of spirits (1 Cor 12:10), however, when a time came for him to manifest his gift and deliver his friends and the wise men of Babylon, he gave himself to prayer. Daniel didn’t pray only when he needed to manifest his gift, he made prayer a culture (Daniel 6:10) and was therefore fruitful in the exercise of his gift and was relevant to God’s agenda for his generation.

As a dear minister of God once said, ‘prayer services power’. You see, when we pray we make the power of God in us available for use; when we pray, we give expression to the gift of God in us. With prayer we fan to flame the gift of God in us.

Go into today with a determination to give yourself to prayer.

Only Possible By God's Power

🔊Audio Version Here ☞ bit.ly/aud1867

Mark 10:27 (NKJV)
But Jesus looked at them and said, "With men it is impossible, but not with God; for with God all things are possible."
Read Mark 10:24-26

One reason Froid found it difficult to accept the gospel was because he did not think it was possible for him to be saved. Being extremely intelligent, he had done his calculations and seen that salvation for him was practically impossible. (But he was wrong because he did not factor in the power of God. He only factored in human willpower). He knew that truly believing in the Lord Jesus meant he would forsake his life and livelihood-- a life he had spent very many years building. His biggest accomplishments in life were things done in direct rebellion to the kingdom of God, and he knew he would have to forsake all that if he wanted the salvation of Christ.

When Jesus said that those who trust in their riches cannot inherit the kingdom of God (Mark 10:24), it was such a revolutionary statement that He had to encourage His disciples by making the statement in today’s Bible verse--Salvation is only possible with God's help (Grace).

Before anybody can enter the kingdom of God, he must put his trust completely in the Lord Jesus (even this is done through the help of God). Have you seen the way little children completely trust their parents and have no other option but their parents? That's how we must trust in God in order to partake in His kingdom and power (see Mark 10:15).

One sign that a person has truly received God's kingdom is that they would walk in the power of Christ (Mark 16:17-18). The most remarkable and powerful thing this power does is to free us from the power of sin. This power also performs miracles and solves problems, etc.

Go into today remembering that because of faith in Christ and Christ alone, you will inherit God’s Kingdom for all eternity. Hallelujah!

Members Of One Body

🔊Audio Version Here ☞ bit.ly/aud1866

1 Corinthians 12:15-16 (NKJV)
If the foot should say, "Because I am not a hand, I am not of the body," is it therefore not of the body?

On social media, Ugochukwu was very fond of criticizing church leaders. Even though he was a believer, because he was not called into the ministry of teaching or preaching (all five-fold ministry offices involve teaching and/or preaching), he did not properly reckon himself as a part of the body but felt it was OK for him to stand apart from the church and criticize it publicly. Through his actions, he was saying ‘I am not of the body’.

One of the loudest ways a believer can say ‘I am not of the body’ is by joining unbelievers and enemies of Christ to publicly malign and criticize the church and its ministers. This post is in no way giving leeway to ministers who err, but is a reminder to believers that many [trumped up] attacks on erring ministers have an underlining agenda to destroy the credibility of the body of Christ as a whole. It is foolishness to be part of this as a member of the body.

Not being a preacher, Ugochukwu didn't feel like a part of the body of Christ the way he should, but this didn't change the fact that through faith in Christ, he was indeed a part of the body. It took him time to realize that his habit of publicly criticizing ministers of the body of Christ was a major limiting factor in his walk with the Lord. He could not walk in divine health and healing because of this.

Go into today remembering that through faith in Christ Jesus, you are a member of the body of Christ. Do not be tempted to feel you are less a member than those who are at the forefront of ministry. Some of the unseen parts of the body are the most important.

Prayer: Ask the Lord the help you rightly discern His body and draw from all the benefits that His body provides.

Living Sensibly

🔊Audio Version Here ☞ bit.ly/aud1865

Luke 15:17-18 (NIV)
"When he came to his senses, he said, 'How many of my father's hired men have food to spare, and here I am starving to death! 18 I will set out and go back to my father and say to him: Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you.

The story here is about a son who took his inheritance to a far country and squandered it. Then the Bible recorded that he ‘came back to his senses’ and said “I will go back to my father”.

A question I’d like you to consider is ‘when did he lose his senses?’ It wasn’t when he squandered his inheritance; it wasn’t when he came to a far country; it was the very moment he thought he could live his life outside the guidance and supervision of his father, that was the moment he got it all mixed up. We don’t judge right and wrong by outcome; we judge right and wrong by the revealed word of God. So even if this son had gone into a far country and invested his inheritance in a profitable business and grew wealthy, it still would not justify his leaving his father.

The specie of humans called the Christian, (or the believer, or the New Creation), only exists in Christ [2nd Cor 5:17] (also seen in the epistles as ‘in Him’ [Eph 1:4] or ‘in Whom’ [Col 1:14]). Outside His saving grace we are damned; outside His Lordship, we are lost. Regardless of the physical outcome, life lived outside the revealed word and will of God is a life lived senselessly. Some decisions taken outside God’s will might look rational and sensible to the world, but that is understandable, “The unbeliever does not receive the things of the spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him…” [1 Cor 2:14]. Bible says in Luke 15:17, 18 ‘when he came to himself, he said … I will arise and go to my Father’ for when we desert our Father’s wisdom, we lose ourselves.

Go into today resolved to make bible sense by constantly, continuously and consistently walking in the will of God.

Innovations and Discoveries

🔊Audio Version Here ☞ bit.ly/aud1864

Job 32:8 (KJV)
But there is a spirit in man: and the inspiration of the Almighty giveth them understanding.

Growing up in Nigeria, I was told that the reason the Americans had so many innovations and discoveries was because they had used their witchcraft to do well. This made me believe that there is a level of greatness that can never be achieved except by the assistance of the devil and I have seen this mindset play out with other African brothers who often consult Witchdoctors for power, popularity, and acceptance.  Most of them are cut short in the prime of their lives.

A story was told of a young Nigerian musician who became so popular and rich in his early twenties because he had consulted some magical powers for fame and wealth but died before he was thirty. In his case, the inspiration to sing came from God, the discipline of practice and rehearsals were his personal role in his success but because of wrong believes, he allowed the devil corrupt the good that was in him and he eventually killed him. Read John 10:10
All good innovations and discoveries are from God. The ability to create is God’s and never the Devil’s. Every good and perfect gift comes from the Lord, the devil has no good in him and nothing good can come out of him. If it is good without an attached evil to it; if it is perfect, then it is God’s.
Read and meditate on Joel 2:28 considering the words ‘dream’ and ‘vision’ and ask God for them. Ask God to inspire your spirit unto understanding. The world is waiting for the revelation of the innovations and discoveries locked up in you.

Healing Is the Children’s Bread

🔊Audio Version Here ☞ bit.ly/aud1863

Matthew 15:26 (KJV)
But he answered and said, it is not meet to take the children's bread, and to cast it to dogs.

Joel accepted the Lord Jesus when he was fifteen years old and got Baptized in the Holy Ghost when eighteen. He, however, suffered a skin infection until he was thirty. While preparing for his thirtieth birthday, he asked God for a birthday gift. That night, he saw a man in his dream who told him that “healing is the children’s bread”. When he woke up, although he couldn’t remember the other things that happened in the dream, "healing is the children’s bread" kept ringing in his head, so he got out of bed and searched for that phrase in the Bible.

Joel continued to confess those words and decided no longer to be bothered by the skin infection anymore. A few days later he discovered that the infection was gone.

"It is not meet to take the children's bread and to cast it to dogs", says Jesus. Yet, there are many children of God today who are presently suffering from sicknesses and infirmities.

Are you a child of God but sick in your body? Ask God (your father) for the bread of healing. He already gave His word when he said, “ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you”. Take Him by His word.

If you are sick in your body, pray this prayer: I am a child of God and healing is mine in Christ Jesus, I, therefore, command you sickness (mention the name) to leave me now in Jesus name, Amen. Share your testimony.

Baptized Into One Body

🔊Audio Version Here ☞ bit.ly/aud1862

1 Corinthians 12:12-13 (NKJV)
For as the body is one and has many members, but all the members of that one body, being many, are one body, so also is Christ.
For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body--whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free--and have all been made to drink into one Spirit.

It is the same blood that flows in your hands that flows also in your legs and in every other part of your body. Because of this, you do not consider any part of your body to be outside your body.
It is the same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead that lives within you and within the millions of believers on earth today. Those who fail to realize that they are one with other believers would not fully enjoy the benefits of The Body. They would be limited and may not know why.

It is the same Holy Spirit that came upon the disciples on the day of Pentecost that now dwells within you if you are born again. It is the same Holy Spirit that baptized your brother in the other church that has baptized you if you are born again. We are all members of the same body. We all have the same Spirit living within us.

Go into today thanking the Lord for baptizing you with the same Spirit that came upon Him when he was here on earth. Expect to be able to do great and wonderful things just as the Lord and His apostles did because you have the same spirit that they have.

Receiving & Walking in Spiritual Gifts

🔊Audio Version Here ☞ bit.ly/aud1861

1 Corinthians 12:11 (NKJV)
But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually as He wills.

Aarav had always wanted to walk in the prophetic gifts because he had seen the benefits first hand. He always assumed he had received [the baptism of the] Holy Spirit, but through diligent study of the word, he realized he was not yet baptized in the Holy Spirit because he saw from scripture that everyone who was baptized knew for sure that they had received the Holy Spirit. But he wasn't sure.

Aarav was invited to attend an interdenominational Holy-Ghost all night prayer meeting. He decided to attend this meeting because he was told that people received the baptism of the Holy Spirit there. During the meeting, the minister of God invited all those who wanted to receive the Holy Ghost to come forward to be ministered to. As soon as the minister laid his hand on Aarav’s head, Aarav felt great power come upon him that made his body quiver. The next thing he could remember was that he started speaking in tongues and prophesying. that was the day Aarav received the spiritual gifts of tongues and prophesy. With time, he observed that he now had the gift of discerning of spirits and the ability to know things that he normally would not know (word of knowledge).

Spiritual gifts are distributed by the Holy Spirit as the He wills. The Holy Spirit not only gives us spiritual gifts, He is the one who powers (or works) them. So walking in communion with the Holy Spirit is the key to walking and excelling in your spiritual gifts. Receiving the baptism of the Holy Spirit is key to receiving spiritual gifts.

Go into today remembering that God wants you to walk in spiritual gifts so you can be more fruitful. Ask the Lord to deliver you from everything that hinders your communion with the Holy Spirit.

Washing Each Other’s Feet

🔊Audio Version Here ☞ bit.ly/aud1860

John 13:10 (NET)
Jesus replied, “The one who has bathed needs only to wash his feet, but is completely clean. And you disciples are clean, but not every one of you.”

Read John 13:1-17

We know that the one Jesus referred to here as not being clean was Judas Iscariot. Was it that Judas didn't have a physical bath like the others? Or was it that Jesus didn't physically wash Judas' feet like He did the others?

This clearly proves that what Jesus demonstrated in washing His disciple’s feet had a deep spiritual meaning.

Jesus told his disciples in John 15:3 that: 'You are clean already because of the word that I have spoken to you'. So we can see that being clean is not physical but spiritual. And the way through which are clean is by believing the word of God that brings faith in Christ Jesus.

The feet are the part of the body that can most easily get dirty again, even after the body has been bathed. As we go through this dusty dirty world, our feet can come in contact with dirt and become dirty. (We can limit this by having our feet being shod with the gospel of peace. This means we reveal and do not hide our identity as believers but are ready witnesses of Christ everywhere we go).

Jesus was the one who washed His disciples’ feet. He has instructed us to wash each other’s feet in the same way (see John 13:14).

As we deal with believers, we may observe some lapses and faults or backslidings. We are not to be condemnatory or judgmental; we are to carefully wash their feet by interceding for them and by sometimes admonishing them with the Word in love. This is a very important aspect of our Kingdom life.

Remember that Jesus interceded for His disciples. He knew that the devil wanted to destroy Peter, but because of His intercession for Peter, Peter was restored (see Luke 22:31-32).

Is there a brother or sister close to you that you notice is backsliding? The Lord Jesus expects you to wash his/her feet: intercede and do not condemn. You can’t do both.

YOU HAVE AUTHORITY

🔊Get Devotional & Bible Audio Here ☞ http://bit.ly/aud1859

Matt 28:18-19 [KJV]
And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.

There was a day my friend and I was praying for two young ladies possessed with the spirit of witchcraft. When the power of God came upon them, they started confessing, and saying things that they could do with witchcraft powers. I marveled greatly because as a believer, I did not operate in the dimension of mysteries they talked about. But still, they submitted themselves to me, showing that I truly have spiritual authority that is superior to theirs.

It was then that I realized that they had great knowledge of the little power that they have but I had little knowledge of the superior great power I have in Christ Jesus.
This is the case with most believers, many of us have little knowledge of the Spirit that dwells within us, and because of this limited knowledge, we can do only little exploit (see Dan 11:32).

Many believers are ignorant of who they are and what they have. As a child of God, you have power and authority. It was given to you as part of your inheritance in Christ Jesus. Jesus secured all power by going to the cross, dying a horrible death, suffering the penalty of sin, and defeating Satan in hell.
Go into the world today knowing that Jesus has given you authority. Greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world.

Spiritual Gifts- Interpretation of Tongues

Get Audio Version Here: bit.ly/aud1858

1 Corinthians 12:10 (NKJV)
to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues.

Not long ago, I spoke with a servant of God who was in an American hospital to visit some folks. While he was there, he saw some white men praying and speaking in tongues. But as he listened carefully, he noticed that one of them was speaking his local African language. He first thought the man understood the language, but when he talked to the man later, it was clear that the man was simply praying in tongues and did not understand the language in question. The white men were so excited when they heard the interpretation of what was said because it agreed with their prayer point.

I remember the first time someone interpreted my tongues. I was simply praying in tongues to God, and this man sitting near me gave me the interpretation of my prayer in tongues. I was so excited because the things he said I was praying were exactly the burden in my heart at that moment. This man didn't know me so there was no way he could have known those things, but he heard me praying in tongues and could interpret my prayers. From that day, I took my prayer in tongues a little more seriously.

The gift of interpretation of tongues is one that enables those who have it to know the meaning of certain tongues they hear. It could happen that they begin to hear someone’s tongues in a language they understand, or they just simply begin to know the meaning of the tongues they hear, whether the tongues are messages from God to people (in which case it must be interpreted) or prayers to God. Those who have the gift of diverse tongues usually also have the gift of interpretation of tongues. When a message is given to people in tongues, it is important that the message is interpreted if the message would profit them.

Go into today remembering that spiritual gifts were given to profit withal. Those who have a desire for the increase of God's kingdom will more easily walk in spiritual gifts.

Spiritual Gifts- Different Kinds of Tongues

Get Audio Version Here: bit.ly/aud1857

1 Corinthians 12:10 (NKJV)
to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues.

When most believers receive the baptism of the Holy Ghost, they receive the ability to speak in an unknown tongue, and most of the time, this 'unknown tongue' becomes their prayer language. There is a difference between 'unknown tongue' (as seen in 1 Corinthians 14:2), and  'different kinds of tongues' (as seen in 1 Cor 12:10).

While the purpose of speaking in 'an unknown tongue' is to talk to God (who does not need an interpreter) and to edify oneself (see 1 Corinthians 14:2,4), the purpose of the gift of 'different kinds of tongues' is to bring a message to people and edify them. All spiritual gifts are for the profit of all, not for personal edification (see 1 Cor 12:7). People would need tongues to be interpreted if it would profit them.

If you have been baptized in the Holy Spirit, that tongue you most likely speak is 'an unknown tongue' and not necessarily 'diverse kinds of tongues'. You may have noticed that what you have been speaking is the same tongue or language that is not understood by anyone(see 1Cor 14:2), and there may be a lot of monotony to it. It is a tongue (an unknown tongue) and different from the gift of 'tongues' or 'different kinds of tongues'.

The gift of 'tongues' or 'different kinds of tongues' helps those who have it to bring prophetic messages to people. It is equal to the gift of prophecy if interpreted (see 2 Cor 14:5). This should not be confused with speaking in 'an unknown tongue’ or 'a tongue' which is used for praying to God. All do not have the spiritual gift of 'different kinds of tongues' (see 1 Corinthians 12:30), but all who have been baptized in the Holy Ghost would normally receive the ability to speak [to God] in 'an unknown tongue' (see Acts 10:46, Acts 19:6, Mark 16:17).

Go into today remembering that speaking in different kinds of tongues (1 Corinthians 12:10, 14:5) is different from speaking in an unknown tongue (1 Corinthians 14:2). The one is speaking unto men for their edification while the other is speaking unto God, and for self-edification.

Spiritual Gifts- Discerning of Spirits

Get Audio Version Here: bit.ly/aud1856

1 Corinthians 12:10 (NKJV)
to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues.

Emeka was about to enter an important business deal with a young man who was trying to market some goods to him. Because Emeka had never met the young man in person but only communicated with him online, he did not know why his spirit was uneasy about this business deal that was supposed to be one that would bring great profit. The day Emeka met the young man with whom he was to enter the business deal, he knew he was not going to proceed with the deal because he had the gift of discerning of spirits and had discerned that the young man had a wrong spirit. Later, Emeka learned that the young man was a fraud who had long left the company he claimed to represent. Emeka's business was saved because he had the gift of 'discerning of spirits'.

'Discerning of spirits' is a spiritual gift that enables those who have it know the nature of spirits they are dealing with. Because all human beings are spirit beings, those who have this gift can discern the true nature of people they come in contact with.

This is the spiritual gift that can make a person enter a room and discern that there are unclean spirits in that room, or there are angels. Like every spiritual gift, the operation of this gift in people is in levels and degrees. For example, every believer has an angel (see Matt 18:10, Ps 91:11, Heb 1:14), but those who have a heightened level of this spiritual gift may even be able to discern their angels, and discern the presence of other angels and even demons, etc.

Go into today asking the Lord for a higher measure of the spiritual gift you have received.

Spiritual Gifts- Prophecy

Get Audio Version Here: bit.ly/aud1855

1 Corinthians 12:10 (NKJV)
to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues.

Prophecy is one of the most coveted spiritual gifts. It is indeed one of the most powerful. Through it, you can predict the future, shape the future, create miracles, probe into the past, wrought deliverance, etc.

Word of wisdom gives direction concerning what to do in the future while word of knowledge reveals what has happened in the past or what is currently happening. Prophecy reveals what will happen in the future.

Some prophecies are revelatory while some others are creative. The fig tree dried up because Jesus spoke to it, Jesus did not say it would dry up as a prediction (see Mark 11:12-25). The famine that ended in Samaria ended because of the prophecy of Elisha, Elisha's prophecy didn't predict the famine's end, it created it (see 2 Kings 7:1-18). Elijah did not predict the end of the drought in Israel; the rain that ended the drought was created because of his prophetic grace (see 1 Kings 18).

There are things that when God wants to do, He would first inspire His children/prophets to prophesy them into existence, and then those things would be established on the earth. From Genesis, we can learn that everything God created in this our realm was first spoken into existence. That principle has not changed even today. God creates things in our world today through His sons that prophesy.

It wasn't because of Paul's personal bias that he asked the believers to especially desire the gift of prophecy (see 1 Cor 14:1), it was because of his understanding of the power this spiritual gift can wield. This spiritual gift can bring about swift execution of judgment against God's adversaries, it can create miracles, signs, and wonders, etc--it is creative.

Go into today desiring and asking to walk in the prophetic gift. All believers do not occupy the office of the prophet, but all believers can operate in the prophetic gift.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, Please help me properly walk in my prophetic heritage as your son, in Jesus name. Amen.

Spiritual Gifts- Working of Miracles

Get Audio Version Here: bit.ly/aud1854

1 Corinthians 12:10 (NKJV)
To another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues.

A man and his colleagues were driving in his car back to the office when suddenly one of his tires burst and everyone in the car could hear the sound. Because this man was a believer who had the spiritual gift of 'working of miracles', he didn’t stop but became charged in his spirit and commanded the tire that burst to “rise back up in the name of Jesus”. Instantly, the car stabilized back and they continued on their journey till they got back to the office. There was great silence in the car from that point. An unusual miracle had happened. They all just saw their colleague in the office command his deflated car tire to inflate back and it obeyed. That was the day the man’s secretary accepted the Lord Jesus. (This is a true story that happened in Nigerian city).

Working of miracles is a spiritual gift that causes believers to have supernatural control over matter. This is the gift that can make a man pray for a malfunctioning car and it would start working properly because he prayed. It is the spiritual gift that makes physically impossible things to become possible. Supernatural healing is a miracle, but this spiritual gift does not just bring about healing to the human body, it causes inanimate things to respond to your words.

Go into today remembering that the ability to perform miracles is a spiritual gift that is available to you. Matthew 7:7-8 says:
Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye. shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: 8 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh. findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.

Prayer: Ask the Lord to help you receive and walk in your spiritual gifts.

Spiritual Gifts- Gifts of Healings

Get Audio Version Here: bit.ly/aud1853

1 Corinthians 12:9 (NKJV)
To another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healings by the same Spirit

When Derek first saw a sick person miraculously healed, he was still an atheist. He had reluctantly attended a gospel campaign his classmate invited him to because he wanted to date her. That night, he was sitting next to another classmate who was crippled. In that meeting, this classmate was miraculously healed and started walking for the first time in many years. That was the day Derek believed in the Lord Jesus. All his doubts about the existence of God vanished. He now wanted to know the God that healed his crippled classmate.

The gift of healing is a spiritual gift that brings supernatural healing to the sick. It usually operates when the believer having this gift lays his/her hand on the sick or simply prays for them in faith, etc.

The power of God can be likened to electricity. Spiritual gifts can be likened to electrical appliances like light bulbs, fans, air conditioners, sound systems, etc. If a house is properly wired with sufficient electricity flowing in its wires, but there is no single appliance in the house, it would be difficult to convince someone who has never known about electricity that electricity is real and in that house. But when there are appliances like light bulbs and fans, it would be easy to convince such a person.

When there are spiritual gifts in manifestation, it is easier to get people to believe in God and in His power. This was one reason Apostle Paul was such an effective fisher of men. The display of the power of God was his priority in preaching the gospel (see 1 Cor 2:4).

Go into today remembering that one of the easiest ways the power of God is displayed is through spiritual gifts.

Prayer:
Ask the Lord to activate your spiritual gifts.
Ask Him to cause that wherever His gospel is preached in your nation, signs and wonders, miracles, and gifts of the spirit will accompany it (Heb 2:4).

Spiritual Gifts- Faith

Get Audio Version Here: bit.ly/aud1852

1 Corinthians 12:9 (NKJV)
to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healings by the same Spirit.

Of all the spiritual gifts mentioned in 1 Corinthians 12, the gift of faith is usually the most misunderstood because everyone who is a believer became a believer because of faith, so what then again is the gift of faith?

The gift of faith is not exactly the same as the faith every believer has. It is a special kind of miracle-working faith that causes people to do things (in faith) that look extreme. But the result of their action will prove that they were not acting in the flesh. The gift of faith is a spiritual gift that comes upon people, and make them do things that may not make sense to others (even believers) around them, but the things they do would make perfect sense to them, and would ultimately produce miraculous results. It is this gift that would make a person begin to serve five loaves of bread to over five thousand people, and there would be more than enough bread at the end of the day.

Normal faith comes by hearing [and hearing] the Word of God (see Rom 10:17). Through the ministry of the word and prayer, this faith can grow over time and increase to levels of faith similar to the one produced by the gift of faith. But the gift of faith can cause a person who is yet of little faith to instantly walk in an unusual level of great faith that would cause miracles to happen. Peter didn’t have great faith before he walked on water, but that great faith came instantly, and he walked on water.

Go into today remembering that spiritual gifts are given and powered by the Holy Spirit (see 1 Cor 12:11). Being baptized in the Holy Spirit is key to receiving and walking in your God-ordained spiritual gifts.

Prayer: Ask the Lord to deliver you from every hindrance to your walking in spiritual gifts. Amen.

Spiritual Gifts- Word of Knowledge

Get Audio Version Here: bit.ly/aud1851

1 Corinthians 12:8 (KJV)
For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit.

After that time I preached the gospel to a young man who wasn't interested in what I had to say until a word of knowledge came through me and he became interested and accepted the Lord, I have trusted in the Holy Spirit to give me words of knowledge when sharing the gospel with people.

People usually open their hearts when they see someone lovingly telling them things that they know the person couldn't have known except it was revealed by the Lord. It is a demonstration of power that is a good advertisement for the gospel. The Samaritan woman opened her heart to the gospel because Jesus gave her a word of knowledge concerning her life(see John 4:4-30). The same thing happened with Nathaniel who eventually became a disciple of the Lord Jesus (see John 1:47-49).

The gift of 'word of knowledge' is very similar to 'word of wisdom', but unlike word of wisdom, it doesn't tell people what to do or give them direction, it simply reveals things to them. Word of wisdom usually tells people what to do in the future, while word of knowledge usually tells people what has happened in the past or what is currently happening. I believe that many times, the two spiritual gifts of 'word of wisdom' and 'word of knowledge' can come together. The same way the gifts of 'tongues' and 'interpretation of tongues' can come together.

Go into today remembering that spiritual gifts are very useful tools that help our fruitfulness in God's kingdom. Those who do not desire and value them would hardly walk in them.

Prayer: Ask the Lord to give you the spiritual gifts that you desire, especially the ones that are prophetic in nature (prophecy, word of wisdom, word of knowledge, discerning of spirits).

Spiritual Gifts- Word of Wisdom

Get Audio Version Here: bit.ly/aud1850

1 Corinthians 12:8 (KJV)
For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit

Chiamaka was really confused concerning who to marry. There were two eligible brothers who wanted her hand in marriage. She met the first brother during her youth service. She and the second brother were members of the same subgroup in church.

As she continued praying and asking the Lord for wisdom concerning who to accept, she felt led to discuss the matter with her pastor's wife.

Before she and her pastor’s wife started the discussion, her pastor’s wife prayed to commit their discussion to the Lord, but as she prayed, a word of wisdom for Chiamaka came. It was a reminder to Chiamaka of some prayers she had prayed during her youth service year. The word made it clear to Chiamaka that her husband was the first brother;  the one she met during her youth service year. Her pastor’s wife didn’t even know what Chiamaka wanted to discuss when the word of wisdom came. It made things very clear to Amaka and she now knew what to do.

'Word of Wisdom' is a word from the Lord that gives people wisdom concerning what to do. There are believers who have been given the ability to frequently receive such words from the Lord. They are those said to have the gift called ‘word of wisdom’. We find a good example of this gift at work in Isaiah 38:21 and 2 Kings 20:7. Here, prophet Isaiah said what was to be done in order for King Hezekiah’s fatal boil to be healed and his life spared.

Note that the spiritual gift called 'word of wisdom' is called so because it is an inspired utterance by the Holy Spirit to give wisdom and direction to people. It is not a product of learning or human understanding. It is prophetic in nature-- directly inspired by the Holy Spirit.

Go into today remembering that God has given us spiritual gifts in order to help us in different areas of our lives.

Prayer: Ask the Lord to help you receive and walk in the spiritual gifts He has purposed for you.

Dealing With Enemies

Get Audio Version Here: bit.ly/aud1849

Psalms 27:6 (KJV)
And now shall mine head be lifted up above mine enemies round about me: therefore will I offer in his tabernacle sacrifices of joy; I will sing, yea, I will sing praises unto the LORD.

Remi was very aware and conscious of the fact that she had enemies who were against her. She grew up in a polygamous home, and by the time she was a teenager, it became clear to her that her stepmother was her enemy. Apart from her stepmother, she knew she had other enemies who were wicked and envious.

She had spent a lot of her time in her life praying against her enemies, and she was always having reasons to pray against them because they always had a way of showing up again and again. But as Remi grew in the Lord, she became more preoccupied with pleasing the Lord than anything else. Because of this, she found that she was no longer obsessed with the fact that she had enemies and was no longer afraid of them. She knew that she was now exalted above her enemies and there was nothing they could do about it.

God is very aware that we have enemies, and He has made elaborate arrangement for dealing with them. When we focus on our enemies, we may or may not overcome them, but when we focus on the Lord and live for Him, He would exalt us far above our enemies. They would no longer be the issue of our lives. The only thing that would be strong enough to be our preoccupation would now be matters of God's Kingdom and no more mundane matters of enemy hostility.

Go into today remembering that when we become God’s property and live for Him, our enemies will become God’s enemies, and we wouldn’t need to worry much about them anymore because they would now have the entire host of heaven to contend with. Read Gen 12:3, Exo 23:22, Acts 9:4-5.

Prayer: Ask the Lord to help you enter the realm of rest in Him.

Given for Kingdom Profit

Get Audio Version Here: bit.ly/aud1848

1 Corinthians 12:7 (YLT)
And to each hath been given the manifestation of the Spirit for profit;

I was once sharing the gospel with a stranger and I sensed he was unusually resistant to the word of God. I knew in my spirit that the Lord wanted to save him that day, but I also sensed in my spirit that he was not open to what I was saying. As I kept waiting on the Lord and asking Him for help while engaging this young man with the gospel, the Lord gave me a word of Knowledge concerning him. As soon as I told him the word, he became open to what I had to say because the word revealed exactly what was going on in his life. He accepted the Lord Jesus that day because he saw the power of God manifested through a spiritual gift.

The gift of 'word of knowledge' made a profit for God's kingdom that day. That is what spiritual gifts are given us for. They are given for Kingdom profit.

Every spiritual gift you have received is an investment of heaven in your life for which you are to make kingdom profit. Stir up the gift by not neglecting it. Remember that you would give account for how profitable you were with your gifts.

Many do not walk in their spiritual gifts because they do not yet have a heart for God’s kingdom advancement. One very great hindrance to the manifestation or receiving of spiritual gifts is self-centeredness.

Go into today remembering that Believers who have a heart for the advancement of God's kingdom will more easily walk in their spiritual gifts.

Prayer: Ask the Lord to give you a heart for his kingdom. Ask the Lord to help you walk in your spiritual gifts and be fruitful in the kingdom.

True Spiritual Enlightenment 3

Get Audio Version Here: bit.ly/aud1847

1 Corinthians 12:3-6 (NKJV)
…no one can say that Jesus is Lord except by the Holy Spirit.
There are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. There are differences of ministries, but the same Lord. And there are diversities of activities, but it is the same God who works all in all.

Terkimbi attended a conference where many people received miracles and were imparted with various spiritual gifts, but he could not receive anything from that conference because he was not comfortable with the way the ministers ministered. He wasn’t comfortable with the way people were falling under the anointing, and laughing under the anointing. This closed heartedness was the reason Terkimbi did not receive some much needed spiritual gifts.

It is ignorance concerning spiritual things that would make a believer expect all ministries and ministers to have the same manifestation when the Bible clearly says there are diversities of results/operations, but it is the same Lord.

Many people have deprived themselves of the blessing that would have been manifested in their lives because they are closed hearted to other ministers with manifestations of the Spirit that they are not used to.

There are things we are to look out for in every ministry and minister in order to know if they are of God. But these things mostly bother on fruits rather than [manifestations or diversities of] gifts. Every true minister will acknowledge and exalt the Lordship of Christ. Professing the Lordship of Christ goes much beyond merely saying the words. It is a confession that controls the way we live and things we do. Any man who has confessed Christ as Lord cannot brazenly continue in iniquity. He would be submitted to the authority of Christ and this submission can be discerned by the discerning believer.

Go into today remembering that there are diversities of ministries in the kingdom. Do not be closed hearted to a ministry because you see unfamiliar results. But test all spirits to be sure you are not snared.
