THE ETERNAL GOD IS YOUR REFUGE

Download the Audio☞ http://bit.ly/aud1381

Deuteronomy 33:27 (NLT)
The eternal God is your refuge, and his everlasting arms are under you. He drives out the enemy before you; he cries out, 'Destroy them!'

Sade had certain enemies in her neighborhood and she knew this. She was aware that they were willing to do everything within their power to destroy her.

There was a particular day that one of them buried a ram in the neighborhood to make incantations against her. She was aware of all these, but she never forgot that the eternal God is her refuge.

She understood that the real enmity against her was spiritual. Principalities and powers were only using those neighbors to try and get her (see Eph 6:12). So she did not focus her prayer on destroying her neighbors, but she focused her prayers against the evil spirits using them. This wisdom made her prayers infinitely more powerful. The Lord kept blessing her in the presence of her enemies. It became clear to her that her enemies were being destroyed.

Many times, believers fear because they forget that the eternal God is their refuge. They give in to the threats of their enemies and act according to fear not faith.

Fear is a terrible spiritual force that leaves people exposed. It attempts to disengage your shield of faith because it works against faith.

Go into today remembering that the Eternal God is your refuge. His everlasting arms are under you and He drives out your enemies before you.

Prayer: thank you Lord for showing me through your word who my real enemies are; they are principalities and powers (Eph 6:12). I receive the grace to totally destroy them from before me in Jesus name. Amen.

Walking In the Kingdom Reality

Audio Version☞ bit.ly/aud1955

1 Corinthians 15:50-51 (NET)
Now this is what I am saying, brothers and sisters: Flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable.
Listen, I will tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed

While Jide was a freshman in college, he joined a frat group that had roots in occultism. He eventually got interested in Satanism and witchcraft. His study of sorcery quickly made him realize that there was no way a human being could overcome the powers of darkness with his will power. This was only possible by a higher power than the power of darkness. So when he saw Brian delivered from the many demonic bondages that he was under before he believed, he knew that the power of Christ could do anything, including the resurrection of the dead into the kind of body that can inherit such a kingdom that can wield such power. This was what the preacher taught when Jide accepted the Lord Jesus.

It is clear from today's verses that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God. There is a resurrection body that believers would receive that would enable us to walk fully in the realities and power of the kingdom of God. But while we are still in this body of flesh, we can only walk in certain realities of the kingdom if we walk in the Spirit and not in the flesh.

The more we walk in the Spirit, the more we would be able to walk in the reality and power of the kingdom. Walking in the flesh hinders this from happening.

Go into today remembering that the way to walk in the reality and power of God's kingdom is to humble yourself, walk in the Spirit and not gratify the lusts of the flesh.

Prayer: Father, please help me from this day walk in a higher level of your kingdom power and glory. Deliver me from all hindrances, in Jesus name. Amen.

Quickened By Christ

Audio Version☞ bit.ly/aud1954

1 Corinthians 15:45 (KJV)
And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit.

Nneka observed that after she became born again and baptized in the Holy Spirit, her spirit became alive towards God and she could now have a relationship with God. She knew within her that she was a child of God (see Rom 8:16). So when she had dealings with a woman who was reputed to be a powerful witch and the daughter of the most feared witch doctor in her community, she was not afraid of her but knew she had more spiritual authority than her. While the demon-possessed lady intimidated and controlled everyone, she couldn't even look Nneka in the eyes because she knew Nneka was operating at a higher level. Everyone wondered why Nneka was feared by this ‘fearless’ ruthless woman.

We received the soul life through the natural birth, we all received it from Adam. But for those of us who are born again, we have received our spiritual life from Christ Jesus. He quickened (made alive) our spirits that were dead towards God.

If you know the difference between life and death, that's the difference between the possibilities and opportunities a spirit that is quickened has over one that is still dead towards God. But many believers do not utilize these opportunities (Hosea 4:6).

Go into today remembering that because you are now alive towards God, you can have a relationship with God and grow in it. This is the secret of multiplied grace and spiritual power (see 2Pet 1:2).

Prayer: Heavenly Father, help me utilize the privilege I have as your child. Thank you for hearing me, in Jesus name. Amen.

Overcoming Spiritual Barriers

Audio Version☞ bit.ly/aud1953

Ephesians 4:31-32 (KJV)
Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.

When Tyron was a child, his family moved to a neighborhood where they were the minority race, and because of this, he grew up hearing racial slurs and curse words. Unknown to him, he had developed a lot of bitterness, hatred, and racism in his heart. So much so that his faith in Christ couldn't affect his politics.

As a businessman running his business with the principles of righteousness, it later became clear that he was under a certain kind of spiritual limitation. There seemed to be a bar he could not cross no matter how hard he tried.

It took him some quality time of waiting on the Lord to realize that there was bitterness and hatred in his heart towards the majority race in his country. As soon as he repented of this hatred and forgave that race for what their ancestors had done against his race, his doors opened and the bar was removed. He now started walking in the blessing of Abraham.

There are many believers today who live lives that are less than God's ideal for them because there is hidden bitterness and hatred in their hearts. I believe one reason apostle Paul could do more than the other apostles was because he walked above tribal and racial bias.

The word of the Lord to someone today is that if you will just let go of tribal/racial bias, you will do exploits in the world for God.

Go into today remembering that there is no room for racism and tribalism in the kingdom of God. Forgive just as God for Christ's sake has forgiven you.

Spiritual Liberty 3

Audio Version☞ http://bit.ly/aud1564

2 Timothy 3:7 (KJV)
Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

Spiritual liberty has been paid for by the Lord Christ, but it has to be received by believers. Disciples are those who through learning, come to the knowledge of the truth and receive this liberty (see John 8:31-32).

Like those in 2 Tim 3:7, there are believers who are always learning but never able to arrive at the knowledge of the truth [that brings freedom], because there are things actively preventing them from this. In the case of those in 2 Tim 3:7, it was false teachers who encouraged license.

In the case of the Galatians, it was false teachers who taught salvation by works. Paul was so troubled by this. He said:
'You were running well; who prevented you from obeying the truth?' (Galatians 5:7 (NET))

Because of false doctrines, many believers have been hindered from arriving at the knowledge of the Truth.

There are basically two kinds of corrupted gospels currently actively hindering believers from attaining the knowledge of the truth. The first is the gospel of ‘works for salvation’. This tries to downplay the work of Christ for the salvation of the believer. It tells people that there are things they need to do in order to pay for their salvation.

The second kind of currupted gospel is the gospel of license. This tries to downplay the work of the Holy Spirit in transforming the believer into the image of Christ. It suggests that believers can continue in sin because grace abounds.

Go into today remembering that anyone who subscribes to any of these corrupted gospels will not come to the knowledge of the truth. He will not be free indeed but will remain a slave to sin and all other works of the devil.

Spiritual Liberty 2

Audio Version☞ http://bit.ly/aud1563

Isaiah 10:27 (NIV)
27 In that day their burden will be lifted from your shoulders, their yoke from your neck; the yoke will be broken because you have grown so fat.

As Laide started applying her heart to the word of God and allowing it transform her by the renewing of her mind, she observed that she started knowing the Lord and was now able to discern His will(see Rom 12:2). She also observed that because of this, she was now too big for the chains that held her bound in the past. The yokes in her life were now broken because she had grown spiritually too fat for them. This spiritual fatness came because she had been feasting on the word of God (she continued in His word).

Jesus told those who believed in Him that if they continued in His word, they would be His disciples indeed, and then they would know the truth, and the truth will set them free (see John 8:31-32).

Those who continue in His word are those who are truly the Lord’s disciples, and they are the ones who can know Him who is the Truth (see John 14:6, 1 John 5:6). This knowledge brings spiritual liberty. The Truth is a reality that is only encountered in [the knowledge of] Christ. This is eternal life; it is the reality that makes all other things but shadows in the light of His presence.

Go into today remembering that abiding in His word and letting it change the way you think is the way to know Him and walk in spiritual liberty.

Prayer: Ask the Lord to expose you to more resources that will help you abide in His word and grow in the knowledge of The Truth.
*The more of God's truth(word) you know, the more impossible it will be for you to be bound.

John 8:31-32 (KJV)
31 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

What perplexed Laide was how some people who were believers and committed to the church were still under demonic yokes and ancestral bondages. For example, her uncle was a minister in a Pentecostal church, but he died mysteriously. It was later rumored in their village that he was killed by some witches who had a connection with his family. These kinds of things were happening.

Laide herself believed in Jesus, but she was not truly free. Her life was a battle. Demons still had power over her.

Jesus told certain Jews who believed in him that if they continued in His word, then they would be His disciples, and then they would know the truth, and the truth will set them free. Remember that Jesus introduced himself as the Truth in John 14:6 (also see John 5:6).

These Jews were people who believed in Jesus already, but like Laide, they were not yet free. They were not yet free from the power of sin [and death]; they were not yet free from bondages of the past. Jesus gave them the remedy. He told them to continue in His word. This was how they would become his disciples, and only His disciples can truly know Him (the Truth; the reality). Disciples are those who have been converted from goats to sheep; they are those transformed by the renewing of their mind through the word (Rom 12:2). They are those who obey their Lord in all things.

1 John 2:4 (KJV)
He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. (To be continued)

This Gospel of the Kingdom 4

Download Audio Version:☞ bit.ly/aud1951

Matthew 5:44 (KJV)
But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you.

Before Nneka became a believer in the Lord Jesus, she used to attend prayer vigils, and was a faithful follower of a particular prophet with whom she eventually had an immoral relationship. She attended those prayer vigils because she was aware that she had enemies, especially when her business started to 'prosper'.

Her prayers were always that all her enemies would fall down and die. She would imagine them and insist that they die a painful death. She loved her friends and hated her enemies. But when she became a disciple of the Lord Jesus, she didn't see the need to kill her human enemies but felt deep pity for them because she understood how elevated above them she was in Christ Jesus. She rather found that time and time again, she was compelled to pray for them, asking the Lord to have mercy on them and bring them to salvation. Because of this, some of them eventually became saved, but some of them who wouldn't repent saw the severe vengeance judgment of the Lord.

The true gospel of the kingdom teaches us to love our enemies and pray for them, not kill them with our prayers. We are to do this not because we are overmuch good but because we know how elevated above them we are in Christ, and we understand that God is a better judge of every matter than us.

But today, there is a gospel that teaches believers to hate their enemies and kill them with the power of God at every opportunity. That gospel is not the true gospel of the kingdom, and it is incapable of raising disciples into maturity. If the Lord Jesus had subscribed to that ideology, He would have wiped out the entire human race because of the hatred and ungratefulness culminated in His crucifixion. There never would have been an apostle Paul because rather than pray for them, Stephen would have used his great spiritual power to place a potent bitter curse on all those who hated him to the point of orchestrating his murder, and Paul was chief among them.

Go into today examining the doctrines that guide your life and compare them with the truth of God's Word.

Prayer: Ask the Lord to deliver you from everything that may be keeping you from the reality and power of the true gospel of the kingdom.

This Gospel of the Kingdom 3

Download Audio Version:☞ bit.ly/aud1950

Matthew 24:14 (NET)
And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached throughout the whole inhabited earth as a testimony to all the nations, and then the end will come.

Because of Nneka's faith in the Lord Jesus, she could not continue in some unrighteous business deals even though those were the deals that made her the most money. She made this bold decision because she understood that nothing was too big to sacrifice for God's kingdom. She understood that the kingdom is real and eternally relevant and she didn’t want anything to hinder her from her inheritance in it.

The true gospel of the kingdom teaches selflessness and sacrifice. Anyone who has truly accepted it would be willing to forsake certain things in order to follow Jesus fruitfully.

But there is a gospel today that purports that there is no need to make any sacrifices and forsake anything because Jesus has already made the needed sacrifice. Even though what they say is true on a particular level, they are absolutely wrong on all other levels. Those who will follow Jesus must be ready to deny themselves, take up their cross, and follow Him (see Luke 9:23). They must be willing to sacrifice fleshly pleasures for kingdom participation and elevation (see Rom 12:1-2, 13:8).

The kingdom of God is like a man who finds a great treasure in a field and goes to sell all he has to buy that field (see the Lord's Parable of the hidden treasure in Matthew 13:44-46).

Go into today remembering that anything you forsake for the kingdom is a small temporary investment you are converting into a great eternal investment that would bless you for time and for the whole of eternity.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, now that I am born again, help me see your kingdom the way I ought to, and walk in its reality [and power], in Jesus name. Amen.

This Gospel of the Kingdom 2

Download Audio Version:☞ bit.ly/aud1949

Matthew 24:14 (NET)
And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached throughout the whole inhabited earth as a testimony to all the nations, and then the end will come.

When Nneka accepted the Lord Jesus, she was told that she needed to be baptized in water and in the Holy Spirit. She was taught the importance of water baptism and how it was her final burial and disconnection from the world. She died to the old life through faith in Christ but would be buried through baptism(see Romans 6:4). She was also taught that it was the empowerment of the Holy Spirit through His baptism that would make it possible for her to live a life of perpetual victory over sin and the devil(see Acts 1:8, Rom 8:13).

These teachings and many others made it impossible for Nneka to continue to be unequally yoked together with her unbeliever friends because she was too conscious of the fact that she was now a new creation in Christ. Nneka received the gospel of the kingdom and the evidence of the exchanged life was there for all to see. The true gospel of the kingdom is powerful enough to turn a sinner into a Saint. But too many these days have received a gospel that is not the true gospel.

Today there is a gospel that excludes the teachings about repentance and baptisms and only emphasizes material prosperity. People can attend church for years and never hear that they are to forsake a life of sin and fleshly lusts and walk in the holiness of God.

Go into today remembering that any gospel that forgets to teach young believers to forsake fleshly lusts is not the gospel of the kingdom. Any gospel that teaches grace without emphasizing that grace is not a license for sinning but empowerment to walk above sin is another gospel and not the gospel of the kingdom(see Rom 6:1, Tit 2:11).

Prayer: Ask the Lord to help you walk in the reality and power of the gospel of the kingdom.

This Gospel of the Kingdom

Download Audio Version:☞ bit.ly/aud1948

Matthew 24:14 (NET)
And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached throughout the whole inhabited earth as a testimony to all the nations, and then the end will come.

There is a version of the gospel being preached today that has excluded the kingdom of God. It is a gospel that only seeks to bring people salvation but does not bring them into the kingdom of God.

If you've ever heard of pastors who live unrepentantly and unashamedly in immorality, the gospel such a pastor is preaching is not the gospel of the kingdom, because being in the kingdom regulates your life unto the narrow straight path. There are so many things you would not be able to do if you're living under the government of Christ.

It is impossible to have truly believed the gospel of the kingdom and not repent from sin. But there is a gospel that now systematically exclude repentance from sin. That gospel is not the gospel of the kingdom, it is another gospel.

The devil knows too well that when the true gospel of kingdom is preached to the ends of the earth, it would be game over for him because the end in this context means the end for the rule of the kingdom of this world(headed by Satan) over this earth and a takeover of the kingdom of God and of His Christ, so the devil is doing everything to ensure that this does not happen. There is gospel being preached everywhere today, but is it the gospel of the of God?

Go into today remembering that the most important thing going on in the world today is the advancement of the gospel of the kingdom. Ask the Lord to help you play your part in this.

The Resurrection Body 2

Download Audio Version:☞ bit.ly/aud1947

1 Corinthians 15:41-42 (NET)
There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon and another glory of the stars, for star differs from star in glory.
It is the same with the resurrection of the dead. What is sown is perishable, what is raised is imperishable.

When Jesus ascended into heaven, He ascended with His body because He now had a body that could partake in the things of heaven and the things of earth. That’s the superior kind of body we would have during the resurrection.

The kind of glory your resurrection body will have is different from the kind of glory your body has right now. That body cannot die nor grow old. It is a body, but it is spiritual. It would be able to partake in both the spiritual and physical dimensions of the realms.

The glorified bodies we are going to receive will radiate the glory of God. It is these bodies that would reveal our real nature as sons of God (Rom 8:23).

This body of flesh is limited in its ability to walk in the reality of the divine life. The more yielded and filled with the Holy Spirit we are, the more this body of flesh would be able to walk in a foretaste of the glory to come because the Holy Spirit quickens our mortal bodies. It is only through the help of the indwelling Holy Spirit that you can truly subdue the power of the flesh.

Go into today meditating on these verses:
1 John 3:2-3 (NET)
Dear friends, we are God’s children now, and what we will be has not yet been revealed. We know that whenever it is revealed we will be like him, because we will see him just as he is. And everyone who has this hope focused on him purifies himself, just as Jesus is pure).

The Resurrection Body

Download Audio Version:☞ http://bit.ly/aud1946

1 Corinthians 15:35 (NET)
But someone will say, “How are the dead raised? With what kind of body will they come?”

Someone recently asked me how it would be possible for those whose bodies were eaten and digested by wild animals to resurrect. How about those whose bodies were cremated?

I explained to him that all a brilliant scientist needed to clone an animal would simply be its DNA, and getting the DNA of a body long dead is not even difficult for human scientists. DNA is quite easy to get, it can even be extracted from your saliva or even feces. If a human scientist needed just  DNA to clone a body, how much more God the master scientist.

If anything of the old was needed, all that would be needed to use to resurrect you would simply be your DNA. I don't have any doubt in my heart that God can resurrect us on the last day, it is easy to even understand that this is possible as a scientist.

But some might wonder the kind of body we would have.

It would be an indestructible glorified body like the one the Lord Jesus has right now. That's a body that can partake of both spiritual things and physical things. Since The Lord Jesus resurrected in the body over two thousand years ago, He is still alive in that body and has not grown old a bit. He will come back to receive us in that same body. His kind of body is the kind we would have on the resurrection.

Go into today remembering the words of these verses:
Philippians 3:20-21 (NET) But our citizenship is in heaven – and we also await a savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform these humble bodies of ours into the likeness of his glorious body by means of that power by which he is able to subject all things to himself.

Don’t Deceive Yourself

Download Audio Version:☞ http://bit.ly/audio1945

James 1:22 (KJV)
But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.

When Linda started attending church services, she was very lucky to be attending a church assembly where the sincere word of God was preached and taught. Because of this, she understood that the way she was living her life was contrary to the will of God, but she continued to live that way and console herself with words like 'no one is perfect, we are all saved by grace and not our works'. She told herself words like these while she continued to live like an unbeliever.

She didn't know that it was only herself she was deceiving and not God. She assumed she had a relationship with God, but did not know that she was still an unbeliever. Believers are known by their fruits (character) and not by their confessions alone (see Matt 7:16).

It was when she got very sick, was about to die and had an out-of-body experience that she realized she was only deceiving herself all these years. She saw that she was going straight to hell, but her mother’s intercession brought her back.

One of the worst forms of deceit is self-deceit. This happens when a person has come to sincerely believe a lie. This is bound to happen to those who hear the word of God but continue in their own ways contrary to the will of God revealed by His word. Like Linda, they would only end up deceiving themselves, thinking they are near to God while they are very far from Him. The devil who is the master deceiver loves these forms of self-deceit and can even orchestrate events to help facilitate it.

Go into today remembering that God is not mocked and His standard remains unchanged; let everyone who names the name of God depart from iniquity (see Galatians 6:7, 2 Timothy 2:19).

Prayer: Heavenly Father, please help me to be a doer of your word and not a hearer only. Deliver me from all forms of self-deceit, in Jesus name. Amen.

BEWARE OF SEDUCTION

Download Audio Version:☞ http://bit.ly/audio1139

Rev 2:18-20
18 "To the angel of the church in Thyatira write the following: "This is the solemn pronouncement of the Son of God, the one who has eyes like a fiery flame and whose feet are like polished bronze: 19 I know your deeds: your love, faith, service, and steadfast endurance. In fact, your more recent deeds are greater than your earlier ones. 20 But I have this against you: You tolerate that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess, and by her teaching deceives my servants to commit sexual immorality and to eat food sacrificed to idols.

Kemi: why is that man still allowed to minister in the church? He clearly is not fit for that.

Pamela: But he is an anointed man of God. He works signs and wonders, and he sees visions.

Kemi: Didn’t you say he was the one responsible for Dorin’s pregnancy?

Pamela: Yes, but you know people can make mistakes.

Kemi: this one is more than ‘mistake’. This same man was the one who wanted me to be his girlfriend last month.

The church in Thyatira appeared to be doing everything right. They were full of good deeds and very committed to the work of God. But there was something wrong going on in secret, and the Lord pointed it out to them. There was a ‘prophetess’ among them who was very corrupt. They knew of this but still allowed her to minister.

You see, when a person who is demonized is allowed to continue ministering in a Christian assembly, he/she would easily transmit his spirit to the congregation. Many people in that congregation may find themselves having the same weaknesses as that of the minister. It is correctly said that the leaders’ sin is the leading sin.

Go into today being very careful not to expose yourself to any minister who has a known questionable character. If you are a minister, remember that your accurate walk with God is no more just about you alone.

Whose Report Will You Believe?

Get the Audio Version: bit.ly/aud1944

Isaiah 53:1 (KJV)
Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the LORD revealed?

Paige went for a medical checkup and the doctors gave her a troubling report. After further tests, she was told that one of her kidneys had packed up and the other one would soon pack up. She was put on a special diet and was already being processed to be added to the waiting list for kidney donor recipients.

Paige was so distressed that she started weeping uncontrollably. It looked to her like she was going to die, and her children were still very young. But as she started to meditate on the word of God, she realized that God's report concerning her was health and peace.

She had the doctor's report which was based on facts, and the Lord's report which is based on the truth. This Lord’s report said she was healed by His stripes (see 1 Pet 2:24, Isa 53:5). As soon as she decided to believe and dwell on the Lord’s report, the depression and fear left and her heart became peaceful and joyful just like that of a person told they have been cured of a deadly disease.

Three days later she observed that the symptoms of the illness had left. As she kept on confessing and insisting on the Lord's report concerning her health, she went back for tests a week later and to her joy and to the utter surprise of her physicians, her two kidneys were now working perfectly. “It’s like you've got new kidneys because these are not the kidneys I saw last month”, her doctor said.

From today's Bible verse, we can infer that those who believe the report of the Lord are those to whom the arm of the Lord is stretched. They are those who see the help of the hand of the Lord in their lives.

Go into today remembering that as you insist on believing God's report concerning any area of your life, you will see the manifestation of His power in that area.

prayer: Lord, help me believe only your report concerning me. Amen.

Overcoming Temptation

Get the Audio Version: bit.ly/aud1943

Luke 22:45-46 KJV
And when he rose up from prayer, and was come to his disciples, he found them sleeping for sorrow, And said unto them, Why sleep ye? rise and pray, lest ye enter into temptation.

The following conversation ensued between a physician and his patient:

Doctor: how have you been feeling?

Patient: terrible.

Doctor: can you describe your feeling?

Patient: yes, yes, terrible headache most times, dizziness as if I’m going to fall and sometimes it appears the house just begins to rotate, it’s a really terrible experience doctor.

Doctor: what have you been doing to handle the pain?

Patient: yea, just some pain-relieving drugs and some rest and I get really relieved but it’s not working anymore.

After a series of tests, he was diagnosed with a brain tumor and needed brain surgery.

This patient managed the symptoms but left the cause unattended to, he got temporary relief but not a cure.

Many believers today are fruitlessly fighting temptation through methods such as confession, penance, increased church activities, and a pile of dos and don’ts, while they ignore the root cause of the weakness causing them to fall time and time again. But as pain in the body is not the problem but a sign of an underlying problem, so is falling into temptation, it’s a signal showing a deficiency in your prayer life. The spiritual strength required to resist temptation is made available through prayer.

Jesus told His disciple that Satan desired to sift him like wheat, but He had prayed for him and because He prayed, he overcame. See Luke 22:31-32.

Go into today knowing that it is only those who wait upon the Lord that get their strength renewed (Isa 40:31). We wait on the Lord through prayer.

Company and Destiny

Get the Audio Version: bit.ly/aud1942

1 Corinthians 15:33 (NET)
Do not be deceived: “Bad company corrupts good morals.”

When Seyi got a job and moved to the city, he wasn't diligent to watch his company, but just rolled with his colleagues and joined them every now and then in the bar. Even though he never joined them to take alcohol, he later noticed that Idol words started coming out of his mouth. He observed that he started using a certain dirty four-letter word and was now struggling with great lust in his heart.

Wondering why his heart was now filled with lust and weakness, 'I thought I've passed this stage in my walk with the Lord' he said to himself when it dawned on him that his good morals were being corrupted by the bad company he had been keeping.

Seyi first realized that things were not well with his soul when he noticed that inappropriate four letter word coming out of his mouth. He was uncomfortable because he understood that out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks (Matt 24:34) and that we would give account to the Lord for every idle word that comes out of our mouths (see Matt 12:36), how much more for every corrupt dirty word?

Go into today remembering that the company you keep as a believer goes a long way in determining your destiny (see Psa 1:1-5). Many destinies have been marginalized because good morals were corrupted along the way. Also remember that the words that come out of your mouth drive your destiny (see James 3:2-5, Prov 18:21). Be careful that your words are seasoned with salt and filled with grace (see Col 4:6). This is one way to ensure that your life is filled with grace.

Called To Show Forth His Praises

Get the Audio Version: bit.ly/aud1941

1 Peter 2:9 (KJV)
But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light.

It happened that Every male child in Segun's family was dedicated to a god and this god had the prerogative to choose his next priest from any of the male children in the family. If anyone was chosen, he could never marry, he must serve the god as a priest all his life.

Segun was chosen by this god the day he was named, however, before Segun grew to the age of accountability, his father encountered some missionaries and believed in the Lord Jesus. It was after this that his name was changed to Oluwasegun, meaning our Lord has conquered. Shortly after this, the high priest of this god came demanding for Segun claiming that he had to start training.

Segun’s father refused to hand over his son to the priest even when the king and the community tried to persuade him. He insisted that he and his house now belong to Jesus. The priest cursed him and his family saying they will not live to see the next market day. To everyone’s surprise, the priest died before the said market day. Segun and his family didn’t die, the whole community then congregated at their compound begging that they show them what they have that saved them from the god and its priest.

As believers, we are called to show, reveal or make known the praises of God. One way to do this is by putting an end to the ungodly patterns in our families and communities. Our lives as children of God must reveal the power of God. If we must do this, we must know, believe and dwell in our position in Christ Jesus.

Go into today knowing that all things have been put under the feet of Jesus and that He is your head, see Ephesians 1:21. Since Christ is your head, all things including principalities and power are now under your feet.

Pray this way, because I have Jesus as my head, every power working against me and my family comes under my feet now in Jesus. I am more than a conqueror through Christ Jesus. Amen.

The Last Enemy

Get the Audio Version: bit.ly/aud1940

1 Corinthians 15:25-26 (NET)
For he must reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet.
The last enemy to be eliminated is death.

After Salma believed in the Lord Jesus, she realized that she now had the ability and power to say 'no' to sin. One thing she found very difficult to say before was 'no'. But because she was now in Christ, she received power to become a child of God. This power gave her the boldness to escape the corruption in this world through lust.

Salma observed that the more she said 'no' to sin, the more she could say 'yes' and 'amen' to the promises of God and walk in the divine higher life she received through the new birth.

It is only those who escape the corruption in this world through lust that can partake in God's divine nature by appropriating His great promises (see 2Pet 1:4).

From today's Bible verse, we see that the last enemy that the Lord would defeat is death.

The way to eliminate death is to get rid of sin because it is through sin that death came into this world--the wages of sin is death (see Rom 5:12, 6:23). As long as there is still sin, there would be death.

The new heavens and earth that would replace these old ones would be free of sin and death (corruption). It would never grow old like this present earth because there would be no corruption (decay) in it. Corruption and death are bye products of sin.

Go into today remembering that even while in this body of flesh, we can begin to walk in a foretaste of our divine life. But this is only possible as we escape the corruption that is in the world through lust, and stand on God's promises. God's promises are the vehicle through which the realities of the divine life is appropriated.

Be Steadfast Praying

Get the Audio Version: bit.ly/aud1939

Luke 18:1 (AMP)
"Also (Jesus) told them a parable to the effect that they ought always to pray and not to turn coward (faint, lose heart, and give up)."

Bro. Kelechi was worried about the low turnout of Christians to vote in the last elections. He concluded that he will stop attending his church prayer meetings because his brethren were full of prayers but less action.

By God’s mercy, He sent an elder in Kelechi’s Church to him who opened his eyes to some issues that were deeper than winning or losing elections.

Elder Chijioke told him that by praying alone, you are already receiving answers to your prayers. That currently some believers are praying that God should revive their prayer life. He also said that by persisting in prayer your desires are gradually being aligned to the will of the Father, and not necessarily to get what you are requesting from God.

He went further to say that God is greater than man and He works with His will and not necessarily with how you feel about an issue. This was How Bro. Kelechi had a rethink about his prayer decision.

Hebrew 11:39-40 "And all of these, though they won divine approval by (means of) their faith, did not receive the fulfillment of what was promised. Because God had us in mind and had something better and greater in view for us...,"

Some of the heroes of faith in the Hebrew 11 did not see what they believed God for. But they remained steadfast, trusting in the one in whom they believed. They kept the faith irrespective of the outcome of their prayers.

The enemy of the faith wants to use every medium to reduce the intensity with which believers stay with God in prayers. We must reject this by constantly trusting in God and resisting the temptation to reduce our prayer tempo.

Go into today believing that the will of God supersedes yours. And you will trust every of his leading. The more you pray, it is more likely that you will live a victorious Christian life. By praying you will not faint (Luke 18:1).

Prayer: Lord, give me the grace to remain above the situations around me. Infuse in me your strength to persist in prayers.

Christ Would Reign on This Earth

Get the Audio Version: bit.ly/audio1938

1 Corinthians 15:24-25 (NET)
Then comes the end, when he hands over the kingdom to God the Father, when he has brought to an end all rule and all authority and power. For he must reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet.

I was discussing with a beloved friend not long ago when I realized he was not acquainted with the fact that the Lord Jesus would reign over this earth for a thousand years with His Saints before this entire earth and the heavens are destroyed and replaced with new heavens and a new earth. He believed that the earth and the heavens and all who dwell in the earth who are not believers would be destroyed with the second coming of the Lord.

I had to show him from scripture (starting with Revelation 20-21) that the Lord would indeed rule over this earth for a thousand years before the new heavens and earth would replace it. Today’s Bible verse talks about the reign of Christ before the new heavens and a new earth in which there is righteousness and no more enemy of Christ(2 Pet 3:13). Psalm 2 talks about this reign that the kings of this earth would not be able to resist, even though they would try.

According to Revelation 20-21, the destruction of the heavens and this earth described in 2 Peter 3:10 would happen after the physical millennial reign of Christ over this earth. Every believer (whether great or small in the kingdom) would be a part of this. But not every believer would be part of this first resurrection and reign of Christ over this earth, because those who would partake therein are the first fruits; they are not those who simply escaped hell, but those who are chosen to reign because of their faithfulness to the cause of Christ during their stay in this body of flesh (see Rev 17:14). They are those at the highest level in God’s kingdom. Height and greatness in the kingdom in attained by faithfulness and obedience (see Matt 25:21).

One thing quite sure in scripture is that those who would be martyred for Christ would reign with Him in His millennial reign on this earth (see Rev 20:4). Those who suffered for/with Him in this present world would reign with Him in this present world for a millennium (2 Tim 2:12).

Go into today thanking the Lord for the privilege to be a sharer in his sufferings and the incomparable glory that would follow. Ask the Lord to help you see life from the perspective of God's kingdom. Amen.
—Abraham Damilola Arigi.

Staying Sanctified

Get the Audio Version: bit.ly/audio1937

Haggai 2:12-13 (NET)
If someone carries holy meat in a fold of his garment and that fold touches bread, a boiled dish, wine, olive oil, or any other food, will that item become holy?’” The priests answered, “It will not.”
Then Haggai asked, “If a person who is ritually unclean because of touching a dead body comes in contact with one of these items, will it become unclean?” The priests answered, “It will be unclean.”

Jide wondered why each time he spent time with his old friends (who were unbelievers), he came back spiritually weaker and was more susceptible to spiritual attacks and falling into temptations.

He always assumed that his contact with unbelievers should help further sanctify them, and not the other way round. But his experience made him realize that his assumption was wrong.

Today's Bible verses reveal a very profound but fundamental spiritual principle. Here the Lord told Prophet Haggai to ask the priests if contact with a Holy thing made other things holy. The answer was no. But it was revealed that contact with defiled things make undefiled things become defiled. This is a principle that God’s people in the time of Haggai needed to remember, and it is a principle God’s people need to remember today.

Mixing clean clothes and dirty ones don't make dirty clothes clean, it would only dirty clean clothes.

Go into today remembering that you are not to be unequally yoked together with unbelievers (see 2 Cor 6:14, James 4:4). This does not mean you are not to talk to them, be helpful to them or work with them. This means you are not to make unbelievers your close friends and confidants with who you share matters of your heart.

Prayer: Lord, help me to live a sanctified life. Amen.

Every Believer Would Be Resurrected

Get the Audio Version: bit.ly/aud1936

1 Corinthians 15:22-23 (NET)
For just as in Adam all die, so also in Christ all will be made alive.
But each in his own order: Christ, the firstfruits; then when Christ comes, those who belong to him.

Because Gloria understood the teaching about the resurrection, she didn't mourn like the rest when her grandmother slept in the Lord. She knew she was going to see her grandma again, and this time they would see to part no more.

Jesus died and his disciples mourned Him and were depressed, but when he resurrected, their joy became full again. They saw Him, touched Him and ate with Him. The difference this time was that they knew that the new body he now had could never die again.

So it would be for every believer who dies in the Lord. They will resurrect with glorified bodies and be reunited with their loved ones who would also resurrect with glorified bodies that can never die, so long as their loved ones are also believers in Christ.

Go into today remembering that just as Christ was resurrected, you too would be resurrected into glory and honor. You would resurrect into everlasting life in the glorified body.

Prayer: give the Lord thanks for giving you the privilege of the resurrection. Pray for your loved ones who are not yet in Christ; that the Lord would have mercy on them and cause them to be saved so that you would spend the rest of eternity with them as resurrected human beings.

The Reward of Faithfulness

Get the Audio Version: bit.ly/aud1935

Luke 19:17 (NET)
And the king said to him, ‘Well done, good slave! Because you have been faithful in a very small matter, you will have authority over ten cities.’

One very important teaching of the gospel message that some seem to ignore today is that Jesus our Lord is coming back to this physical world to take over the governments of this world (see Rev 11:15, Dan 7:27, Ps 86:9). Those who are with Him would be given authority over physical territories in this earth. We would be rewarded according to our faithfulness to His kingdom work while we were in this body of flesh. Our hope as believers is not only in the fact that we would escape hell and go to heaven (that is a gift), but that we would rule the heavens and even this present earth with our Lord and savior for all eternity. But the dimension of governing with the Lord comes as a reward for faithfulness to His assignment for you in this present world.

The parable Jesus gave in Luke 19:11-29 is one of the most literal parables in the Bible. In accordance with our faithfulness to His assignment right now, the Lord Jesus would give us dominion over literal cities in this present world when He returns to take over the governments of this world. It is because of this understanding that we believers do not labor for earthly wealth at the expense of our heavenly reward. We understand that we would inherit this earth and all the other billions of galaxies with their billions of planets. Because of our service to Christ, we would inherit all things (see Rev 21:7).

Go into today remembering that the choice is yours whether you would rule and reign with the Lord for all eternity. Those that would be with Him [in government] are the called, the chosen, and the faithful (see Rev 17:14).

Walking in The New Life

Get the Audio Version: bit.ly/aud1934

Matthew 12:33 (NET)
“Make a tree good and its fruit will be good, or make a tree bad and its fruit will be bad, for a tree is known by its fruit.

After Gbenga accepted the Lord Jesus, he noticed that there was now great resistance in his heart to continuing in his sinful ways. He started seeking for understanding on how to overcome the sins that seemed too powerful for him because unlike before, they now made him feel uncomfortable and miserable.

He devoted himself to discipleship because he was now tired of living a miserable life.

Somehow Gbenga understood that if he continued to violate this [new fragile] conscience that he had received with the new birth, he would deaden it one day and go back to how he used to be.

When you became born again, one of the most important things that happened to you was a change of heart(see Heb 8:10). God gave you a new heart that is able to receive and understand the spirit of His law (not just the letter). Because of this new heart you received from God, you are to live a new life as His child. Whenever a true believer sins, he cannot be comfortable because sin is contrary to his new nature within. The only reason why it is even possible for a believer to sin is because his body has not yet been changed, and until the resurrection when it would be changed, he can still sin. That's why we have been admonished not to walk in the flesh but to walk in the Spirit(Gal 5:16). Righteousness is in your renewed spirit, but sin is still in your flesh, so you are to reckon yourself dead to sin and deny the flesh (Rom 6:11).

They that continue to walk in the flesh will die spiritually and go back to how they were before they were saved (see Romans 8:13). But those that put to death (abandon) the works of the flesh shall continue to live. The only way to successfully put to death the works of the flesh is through the empowerment of the Holy Spirit. He makes it possible for you to ignore the cravings of the flesh and walk in the righteousness of your renewed spirit. He has the ability to quicken our mortal bodies so that we can walk in the newness of life.

Go into today remembering that the only way to conquer the overpowering influence of the flesh is through the empowerment of the Holy Spirit (see Romans 8:13). You give Him entrance and ‘administrator access’ in your life through the entrance of the word of God. Applying your heart to understanding the word of God is the way to give the Holy Spirit access to empower you over sin that is in the flesh. One way He does this is by furnishing the understanding within you that you have died to sin (see Romans 6:2, 11), and are now made alive unto righteousness.

Prayer confession: Sin has no dominion over me. I am dead to sin and alive unto righteousness.
—Abraham Damilola Arigi.

As A Man Thinks

Get the Audio Version: bit.ly/aud1933

Matthew 12:35 (NET)
The good person brings good things out of his good treasury, and the evil person brings evil things out of his evil treasury.

I was recently watching some of my friends as they played scrabble. I observed that the person who won the game was the one convinced that he was going to win, even though from my estimation, the other person knew more words and really understood the game. Prosperity is spiritual, and it begins with the way we think.

What you believe about yourself is very important, and it goes a long way in determining your destiny. This is the reason why God does not draw back from reminding us time and time again that we are blessed people as His children(see Gal 3:9, Psalm 134:3, Eph 1:3, Deut 28:3-6, among others). He knows that we would begin to walk in that reality when we actually believe it.

The treasury of a man is his heart. As a man thinks in his heart so is he (Prov 23:7).

People who always have negative and bad thoughts of suspicion end up as bad people, but people who have good thoughts of love and goodwill will end up as good people.

I have realized that the same situation would produce different outcomes in different people because of the way they think. What some may see as a terrible setback to destroy them, others would see as a challenge for personal growth and victory.

A man already defeated in his heart is a defeated man in reality.
It is an aberration for a disciple of Christ Jesus to believe that he is under a curse. Refuse such thoughts no matter what you see to the contrary, and let your faith in God's Word [that says you have been blessed] crystalize the manifestation of the blessing.

Go into today guarding your heart with all diligence. Ensure that the negative thoughts of defeat do not reside there.

Prayer: heavenly father, please help me discard all negative thought patterns and have the mind of Christ. Amen.

Resurrection Through Christ

Get the Audio Version: bit.ly/aud1932

1 Corinthians 15:21-22 (KJV)
For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead.
For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.

There is a profound spiritual principle that today's Bible verses reveal. This principle is that when something is done by a man, it would take a man (and not an angel or spirit) to undo it. If God closes a door, it would take God to open it again. If an angel opens a door, it would be an angel that would be required to close it.

When the Lord opens a door for you, He is the only one that can close it (see Rev 3:8).

Death (corruption and entropy) came into this world through the sin of Adam. Because of this, things don't naturally grow better but grow old, get worse and die. This is not consistent with God's nature and God's creation, man was not created to wear out, grow old and die. But through sin, death, decay, and corruption came into the world.

It was through a man of great stature (pre-fallen glorified man) that death came into the world. In order for God to fix this very serious problem, God had to become a man like us, overcome death, and attain the requisite stature to fix this problem of death. The solution of the death that Adam introduced is the resurrection of the dead that Christ brings. This resurrection is different from the ordinary resurrection that happens to dead people now, it is a resurrection into glory, a resurrection from the corruptible to the incorruptible, from mortality to immortality (see 1 Corinthians 15:42-44).

Adam caused the problem that no other human had the capacity to fix, but in Jesus, God came to fix the problem and all who believe in Him will have everlasting life.

Go into today thanking the Lord for His great love that makes you have the hope of everlasting life in a body that cannot die or grow old.
