Keep a Firm Grip

Download Today's Audio: bit.ly/aud2064

2 Thessalonians 2:15 (NLT) With all these things in mind, dear brothers and sisters, stand firm and keep a strong grip on the teaching we passed on to you both in person and by letter.

The realities of this ‘social media’ age is the heightened need for acceptance. People want to be liked and fear being different. The world is becoming more and more intolerant of anyone holding an unpopular view, and anyone who doesn’t agree with the general view is labeled intolerant, phobic and narrow-minded. In light of this, believers are under pressure to shift grounds and compromise the truth in order to conform to the demands of an ever-changing world.

However, the word of God warns, keep a firm grip on the truth. It is a command. Christian values remain the same as has ever been. Jude 1:3 describes our faith as one that has been handed once and for all times to us. Keep a firm grip on the truth, understand that the Christian/godly stance on sexual purity has not been modified, its stance on integrity remains the same, and its stance on love is still as was given…Hold fast to these truths as revealed in God’s word. Because as Hebrews chapter 2 verse 1 succinctly puts it,

“So we must be more careful to follow what we were taught. We must be careful so that we will not be pulled away from the true way” (Easy-to-Read Version).

Prayer: Heavenly Father, please help me build my life according to the culture of your kingdom. Fill me with your Spirit and help me never to cave to the pressures of this world. Amen.

God's Eternal Plan

Download Today's Audio: bit.ly/aud2063

Luke 17:20-21(KJV) ...the kingdom of God cometh not with observation:  Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.

Right from the foundation of the world God intended to extend His Kingdom from heaven to earth. His eternal plan, which would be manifested, according to the scriptures, is to establish His reign here on earth. The physical dimension and takeover of God's kingdom over this earth would happen when the Lord returns with His saints and the kingdoms of this world become the kingdom of our God and of His Christ. We shall literally reign over every territory of this earth for a thousand years(see Revelation 20:4), and we would reign forever over the new heavens and earth that would come after (see Revelation 21).

Satan thought he had won when he got Adam to sin. When Jesus came into the scene, satan had Him killed and thought he had won again. Both Satan and his demons never knew the wisdom of God "...for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory"(1 Corinthians 2:8).

Jesus Christ is the real deal. He came to establish the Kingdom of God here on earth. Today, everyone that accepts the sacrifice of Jesus Christ and believe in Him has the kingdom of God literary within them. Such who live lives submitted to the kingdom is an heir of the throne of the kingdom (Romans 8:17) and is going to reign with Christ at the physical establishment of that Kingdom (Revelation 3:21).

When asked by the Pharisees about the kingdom, He said, "...the kingdom of God cometh not with observation: Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you." He was telling them that the Kingdom of God had come already. Many of them did not believe in Him because they expected a more spectacular arrival of the kingdom, but that was how they missed out.  Jesus was the physical carrier of the kingdom but they knew it not. We are carriers of the kingdom but the world does not know. God is fulfilling His eternal plan through us already, for as more people receive Christ as Lord and Saviour, the more the Kingdom of God is spreading.

As you go into today, remember that you are a carrier of God's kingdom. This is an awesome privilege.

Prayer: Dear Father, I thank You for Your eternal plan and I thank You for making me part of it. As a carrier of Your Kingdom, I go ahead today, recruiting more people to be part of the Kingdom. I am not slack towards it, as I look forward to the establishment of the Kingdom physically, in Jesus' Name. Amen.

A Faith-filled Outlook

Download Today's Audio: bit.ly/aud2062

Luke 5:5(KJV) And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net.

Life to us is a reflection of how we look at it, from standpoints and perspectives. These shape the way we see life. We have been encouraged to have a positive outlook on life and always be hopeful that things will turn out well. But today I want to encourage you to take it a little further by having a faith-filled outlook to life. A positive outlook is different from a faith-filled outlook. A positive outlook encourages us to go into everything we do positively, in full confidence in the human principles that we want to employ. But human principles are limited, they can fail.

A faith-filled outlook to life is also positive but goes beyond that. It is based on the Word of God. It is important we understand this so that we can start looking at life through the vistas of God's Word. When we do this, we not only stay positive but are assured of victory because even though human principles may fail, God's word never fails.

In 2 Corinthians 4:17-18, we see that "our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory; While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal."

God's Word is infallible, it doesn't only show you the beginning, it shows you the end. It says in Job 8:7 that "Though thy beginning was small, yet thy latter end should greatly increase." This gives you not only a positive outlook to life but a faith-filled disposition to it. Get to God's Word. Listen to God's Spirit bring the Word for the now to you from heaven. With this, your faith is stirred up within you and you're set in motion knowing that victory is assured.

Prayer: Dear Father, thank You for Your Word. It is the guiding principle of my life. Through it, I receive faith and ability to win daily as I look at life through the eyes of Your Word. I am filled with faith and I am winning daily, in Jesus Name. Amen.

Accesing Abundant Grace

Download the Audio☞ bit.ly/aud1341
Philippians 4:19 (KJV)  But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

There was a certain woman who had a lot of money but was barren. Her husband no longer loved her and would have nothing to do with her. For many years, she didn't even know if she was still baren after undergoing certain medical procedures because her husband wouldn't come near her. She was a believer in the Lord Jesus and was known to be a person of integrity.

One day,  she observed that a certain evangelist in her church was in need of financial help,  so she decided to give him offerings both for his personal family needs and for the work of the ministry. She was not expecting anything in return for her offering but was just trying to meet the need of a minister and honor the anointing upon him. This evangelist was so provoked by her generosity that he said: "my God,  who I've been serving all these years,  will meet you at that point of your need".

Two weeks later, her husband who wanted nothing to do with her repented and left his girlfriend who had used witchcraft to keep him under her control. In that same month, she conceived. She gave birth to twins nine months later at the age of 56.

The popular Bible verse of today's meditation was a prayer Apostle Paul made for the Philippians after he received their generous offering through Epaphroditus (see Philippians 4:18). Notice that in this prayer,  Apostle Paul refers to God (who is also the God of the Phillipians) as "my God". Knowing fully well that his God was their God, why would apostle Paul refer to God as 'my God' when praying this prayer for the Philippians? It is because of a spiritual principle we shall try to examine.

God's power is at work in our lives at different levels in accordance with the measure of grace that we have received(see Romans 12:6). Grace is multiplied in our lives through the knowledge of God and of our Lord Jesus Christ(2 Peter 1:2). The progressive knowledge of God takes the process of a faithful walk with the Lord, and this knowledge multiplies grace. Grace is God's power localized in the life of a believer, and it is comminuted with through the believer's faith.
God is unlimited,  but his manifestation in a person's life is regulated by their measure of grace and faith.
When a servant of God says "my God shall..." when praying for believers, he is calling upon a dimension of God that is known to him but may not yet be known to them. This dimension would supply a measure of grace(that they themselves have not yet grown into) to meet their needs.

Go into today remembering that when God's people are generous to His servants who have received a measure of grace to serve Him in certain capacities,  it provokes special manifestations of the blessing in their lives.

Led By His Voice

Download the Audio☞ bit.ly/aud1341

John 10:27-28 (NASB)
27 My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me; 28 and I give eternal life to them, and they will never perish; and no one will snatch them out of My hand.

Seyi was disturbed that as a believer he didn’t really know the voice of the Lord. This was a big problem because he understood that this was what distinguished the sheep from the goats.

He understood that there were goats and there were sheep, and everyone claimed to be a follower of the Lord, but those who are led (whose lives are controlled) by the voice of the Lord are they who are His true sheep (see Rom 8:14). He understood that it is those who follow the leading of the Lord that will never fall 'For He leads [them] in the path of righteousness for His name's sake'. But how could he be so led without the ability to know or hear the voice of the Lord?

He started praying and fasting about this. One morning, he received enlightenment when he picked up his Bible to read. He looked at it again and it occurred to Him that these are the words of the Lord. Every word in it was inspired by the Spirit of Christ. Reading and understanding it was the easiest way to hear the voice of the Lord and follow it.

The Lord leads us by His instructions in the Bible. As a matter of fact, there is no leading from Him you can receive in your spirit that will contradict His will as expressed in the Bible.

Go into today remembering that Christians who want to be led by the Lord go for His word. They crave His word like newborn babies crave milk (see 1 Pet 2:2). Read the Bible and get materials to help you better understand the word (Get books, download sermons, attend meetings, etc).
Prayer: Thank the Lord for the Bible.

The Testimonies of God

 ðŸŽ§ Download the Audio: bit.ly/aud1336

Psalm 119:1-3 (KJV)
1Blessed are the undefiled in the way, who walk in the law of the Lord.
2 Blessed are they that keep his testimonies, and that seek him with the whole heart.
3 They also do no iniquity: they walk in his ways.

Clara won a new convert who later told her that he was one of the friends of the boy who wanted to drug her and rape. She felt so much hatred for that boy afterward. But she knew she could not let that hatred dwell in her heart. She knew that doing this would be breaking the commandment of Christ. This was about her relationship with her Lord. Jesus commands us to love God, Love each other, and love even our enemies (see Mat 5:44, John 13:34).

In today's Bible verses, you can see that there is the Law of the Lord and there are His testimonies. It is usually in the place of seeking that Lord that you receive His testimonies (see Psalm 119:2b). His testimonies are vehicles through which He delivers victory into areas of your life.

You walk in His law, but you keep His Testimonies. In the new covenant, you walk in His law by walking in the Spirit. You keep His testimonies by obeying His instructions to you. For example, He may instruct you to stay away from social media for a season in your life, and He would usually make you understand the reason why.

Go into today knowing that keeping His testimonies is the secret to walking above iniquity (Psalm 119:2-3) and overcoming in life (Rev 12:11). This is only possible when you first walk in His law (the Law of the Spirit characterized by relationship, not by regulations).

The Glory that Shall be Revealed 2

Today's Audio Version here: bit.ly/aud2059

Romans 8:20-21 (NET)
20 For the creation was subjected to futility – not willingly but because of God who subjected it – in hope 21 that the creation itself will also be set free from the bondage of decay into the glorious freedom of God’s children.

Henry observed how Caleb literally spoke to things and they responded. He saw how one evening,  it was raining very heavily,  and Caleb needed to go out. He saw how Caleb spoke to the rain and it stopped in response to what Caleb said.
There was a time they were traveling together in his car,  and they ran into a terrible porthole. After that, there was a terrible noise in the right-back wheel of the car. They knew they needed to stop and find a mechanic,  or the car would stop them. But Caleb simply spoke to the wheel and it immediately stopped making that noise till today. Henry always wondered why things responded to Caleb's words. He later realized that it was because Caleb understood that he was an Ambassador of gospel and creation responds to the gospel and its true ambassadors.

After the fall of man, God placed a curse on the earth for man's sake. But actually, that curse affected all creation (Genesis 3:17).
Man became terribly downgraded because of the fall,  and God had to also downgrade creation for man's sake. A downgraded man could only survive in a downgraded creation and habitat. But God did this in the hope that one day,  after the redemption of man,  creation will be set free from the bondage of decay into the glorious freedom of His children.

Creation was downgraded because Man was downgraded through Sin. When the sons of God enter their glory through the resurrection,  creation too will be liberated.

That's why Jesus didn't mince words when he said that the gospel was to every creature,  or to all creation (see Mark 16:15). Jesus could have said 'preach the gospel to everyone',  but He said preach the gospel to every creature.  The words He actually used there alluded to creation, not just human beings.
You see, the effect of the gospel will bring creation out of the curse of decay,  not just human beings alone. And by the Holy Spirit
(who enables us to walk in the first fruits of the power of the age to come) we can control creation just as Jesus did.

Go into today giving thanks for the privilege to be a partaker of God's glorious gospel.

Prayer: Heavenly Father,  please empower me to be an agent of your gospel everywhere I go. Help me to be faithful to the end,  in Jesus name. Amen.

The Glory that Shall be Revealed

Today's Audio Version here: bit.ly/aud2058

Romans 8:18-19 (KJV)  For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.
For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God.

Have you ever seen a parked car grow newer with time?
In this old creation, things grow older, not newer. Things naturally gravitate towards disorder not order. That is a result of the curse of corruption. But so great is the glory that would be revealed in us (who believe) that it would lead to the liberation of all creation from the curse of corruption.
The curse of corruption is what makes things grow old and worn. But when our glory is revealed in the resurrection,  all of creation will be set free from the curse of corruption (see Romans 8:21).

Ignorance concerning who we are and what we are in Christ is the reason some believers are profane like Esau; trading their priceless eternal inheritance[of rewards] for temporary trappings of this world.

Go into today remembering that all creation awaits the manifestation of your glory. Even now,  by the Spirit, we get to walk in the foretaste of this reality. We are God's light in this dark world(see Isaiah 60:1-2, Matthew 5:16).

Prayer: Ask the Lord to multiply within you the grace to shine in light in this dark world and live in the hope of His calling.

A Life that Counts

Download Today's Audio: bit.ly/aud2057

Psalms 68:11 (KJV) The Lord gave the word: great was the company of those that published it.

In the Nigerian city I grew up in, there are burial grounds of European missionaries which are now historical sites. Those missionaries died and were buried in the land because they came to preach the gospel. Some of these missionaries attended the best universities like Harvard and Oxford, but they saw a higher call and were willing to give their lives for it. Today, many in Africa are believers because of their sacrifice. Many lives have been physically and eternally spared because of their sacrifice. I can still remember how it was a missionary called Mary Slessor that the Lord used to end the infanticide ritual killing of twins in the southernmost part of Nigeria.

When I look at my generation, I have a great concern in my heart, because the emphasis and pursuits of many believers are for vain things. Believers who love their lives too much (and love the world) cannot effectively pass the light of the gospel to the next generation (see John 12:25, Revelation 12:11, 1 John 2:15).

When the gospel was first preached [in Jerusalem], it was by a handful of people who were willing to give it all (both those on the frontline of apostolic missions and those who gave their resources to send them). Today, over two billion people on earth are called Christians, and many millions have come to know the Lord personally. But this didn't happen without a great company of people intentionally committed to spreading God's word.

Even in the 19th century when there was a great missionary movement, and many parts of Africa evangelized, there were still some believers who loved the world too much and didn't want to inconvenience themselves for the gospel, but there were those who considered the Kingdom as the most important thing in their lives. All the believers in that generation are now physically dead, but some of them have crowns and eternal rewards stored up for them(2 Timothy 4:8), while some others would be ashamed before the Lord(1 John 2:28). Even though the people from that generation are no more in this world, they are still very much alive and conscious, and some are in joy while others are in eternal sorrow and damnation.

Go into today determining to be among the company of those who publish the word of the Lord in your generation. A life that counts is one committed to spreading The Kingdom.

Prayer: Lord, help me live a life counts in your eternal scheme of things. Help me fulfill my part in what you are doing in my generation. Amen.

—Abraham Damilola Arigi

Not Worthy To Be Compared

Download Today's Audio: bit.ly/aud2056

Romans 8:18 (KJV) For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.

If you think about who God is and all His has, it is simply too awesome for our 1.5kg brain to fully comprehend. Yet, we are going to inherit all that belongs to God as heirs of God through Christ Jesus.

What we know is that we shall be as He is because we shall see Him face to face(1 John 3:2). We shall rule and reign with Him and even judge the angels(see 1 Corinthians 6:3). We shall inherit all things (Revelation 21:7).

Even though we know that it is those who live for Christ and [are willing to] suffer for Him that would be counted worthy to reign with Him in glory, it is foolishness to think that our suffering for Him is able to earn us our eternal glory. The sufferings of this present time cannot be compared to the glory. If we suffered for Christ to the point of death in one billion lifetimes, it still wouldn't be sufficient to earn the glory that we would receive.

God is not interested in our suffering, He is interested in our faithfulness. It is just that being faithful to Him would require denial of the flesh and may incur persecution from those still controlled by the Prince of this present world who is an enemy of Christ. As you are reading this Devotional today, many of our brethren in Pakistan, parts of India, and the Middle East are experiencing great persecution because of their faith in Christ. Many in the middle east are even denied passports so that they cannot get visas to flee their countries where they are being persecuted for their faith. Even in certain parts of northern Nigeria today, believers who are qualified for promotion in public service are denied promotion because they are believers. Qualified students are denied admission into government-owned subsidized tertiary institutions because they have Christian names. We can go on and on, but the point is this: those who would not deny the faith because of worldly pressures are proving that they are faithful in the little, and much more would be given to them (Luke 16:10-12). They would rule and reign with the Lord in the eternal kingdom that is coming to sweep away every other kingdom.

Go into today asking the Lord for the grace to be faithful to Him in the face of pressures.

Prayer: Dear Lord, please help to be faithful to you unto the end. Please help me to not miss my eternal reward by reign with you in glory on that day. Amen.
—Abraham Damilola Arigi

Heirs of God

Download Today's Audio☞ http://bit.ly/aud2055

Romans 8:17 (NET)  And if children, then heirs (namely, heirs of God and also fellow heirs with Christ) – if indeed we suffer with him so we may also be glorified with him.

Just this afternoon, I had a conversation with a young man who said he wouldn't mind waiting to grow old before he lives a life that is fully committed to God.
At that point,  I knew I had to explain to him the benefits of knowing God from his youth because that is when he still has the strength to serve the Lord--service for which he would be eternally rewarded.

Today's Bible verse reveals that we who believe will be heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ Jesus if indeed we suffer with Him so we may be glorified with Him.
There is a dimension of glory that is stored up for all of God's children,  but only those servants who put their talents to kingdom advancement use and serve the Lord will attain that height of eternal glory.
Salvation [from eternal damnation] is a gift and not a reward. But authority and ranking in the kingdom is a reward for faithfulness to the Lord and obedience to His call (see Luke 19:17, Matthew 16:27, Revelation 22:12)

Eternity is forever and ever, and we should care about our destiny there. Many people will be in the highest levels of God's eternal glory for all eternity because they responded faithfully to the call of God and lived for Him- not shying away from the suffering it may incur on this side of eternity. But many others will not respond to the call. They will choose to live for themselves even though they have believed in the Lord Jesus. Even though many of such people will be saved through their faith in Christ,  they will be saved as though through fire and would suffer loss( they would lose their reward-- their ordained place of authority and glory in God's eternal kingdom). Read 1 Corinthians 3:13-15.

Go into today remembering that glory and honor are stored up for those who live for Christ- sacrificing all and even suffering for him because of their resolve to fulfill his purpose for sending them into time.

Prayer: Holy Father,  please help me live for you and fulfill your purpose for my life. In Jesus name. Amen.
—Abraham Damilola Arigi

No Longer a Slave to Fear

Download Today’s Audio☞ bit.ly/aud2054

Romans 8:16-17 (NET)  The Spirit himself bears witness to our spirit that we are God’s children.

Benise was a believer who lived a very disciplined life but was also a very miserable believer because she lived in the fear of going to hell and had no assurance of salvation. Because of this fear,  other fears found expression in her life and she was now a slave to fear.
She got delivered from the dominion of fear after she heard and meditated on the words of an Anointed song that went thus: "I'm longer a slave to fear,  I am a child of God... "
At listening to the song over and again, she realized that all the fear in her heart was devilish. She sought to be delivered permanently and realized that the answer was in being filled with the Spirit.
The infilling of the Spirit takes away fears (see Romans 8:15, 2 Timothy 1:7).

One of the surest signs that a believer is filled with Spirit is that he would have the assurance of salvation. This assurance takes away the fear of death(both spiritual and physical). It gives us boldness and boosts our faith in receiving from God because we know that He is our heavenly Father who loves us even more than an earthly father loves and cares for his children.

Go into today thanking the Lord for the Holy Spirit that brings assurance of salvation and gives you boldness to walk in your liberty as a child of God.

Prayer: Ask the Lord to deliver you from anything seeking to hinder your devotion to spiritual disciplines that make for a spirit-filled life.
-Abraham Damilola Arigi

The Right Reason for Serving God

Download Today’s Audio☞ bit.ly/aud2053

1 Corinthians 6:20 KJV
For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's

After Lot received Jesus, he never missed a Church service. His life, however, was still characterized by fear, anxiety, and suspicion; he couldn’t live the victorious life. He fasted, prayed and held so many vigils because he was told that he had many enemies fighting him. It was after ten years of rigorous but unending battles that he found out that the reason his knowledge of God was not fruitful was that he had been serving God for the wrong reasons.
Lot served so he could be free from his enemies. Why are you serving God?

Many have served, sacrificed, given tithes and offerings and have sown seeds so many times because they wanted riches, wealth and other material gains but have been disappointed so many times.

To avoid being disappointed, you must understand that God owns you and your service must be one that honors and glorifies Him, not one whose motivation is your personal gain.

A man who serves God acceptably must do so not because he desires a reward but because he wants to glorify Him. If you can do this, every other thing will then be added unto you according to Matthew 6:33.

Go into today making up your mind to serve God acceptably. Not for personal gain but for the honor and glory of His name.

Romans 8:15 (KJV) For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.

Many of the children in the neighborhood called Mr. Akande their father because Mr. Akande was truly a father to many of them who had lost their dad's in the war. He provided for them and paid their bills even though they were not his biological children. But Mr. Akande and his biological children were really close. When every other child would say Mr. AKande is our father, Henry his son would say Mr. Akande is my dad.
Mr Akande didn't necessarily know the voice of all his children in the neighborhood, but he knew the voice of his son and would respond quicker if he heard that voice.

'Abba' is one of the first words a Jewish child utters. It's very much like the word 'Dadda' English speaking families hear their children say as first words when the child tries to say 'daddy'.
Before Jesus, no Jew dared to call God Abba. It was too personal a term with which to refer to God. But Jesus was the first to call God 'Abba' because God was His dad (see Mark14:36).
Today, through faith in Christ Jesus, and by the indwelling Holy Spirit, we have that kind of personal relationship with God such that we can call Him Abba or dad.

Those who are led by the Spirit are those who walk in this realm of relationship with their heavenly father. The thought of today's verse started in Romans 8:1 and down to verse 13 we see that the topic of discussion was walking in the Spirit as opposed to walking in the flesh. We see that those who have the Spirit of God dwelling in them (not just a one-time filling) are those who walk in the Spirit(see Romans 8:9). And now we are seeing that it is those same people(who walk in the Spirit) that have this personal relationship with God as father.

Go into today remembering that because of the indwelling Holy Spirit, God is your Dad and the relationship you have with God is the most intimate that there is.

Prayer: Holy Father, please fill me with Your Spirit and help me walk in the Spirit and stay filled so that I can walk in the reality of sonship.

Download Today’s Audio☞ bit.ly/aud2051

Romans 8:15 (NET)  For you did not receive the spirit of slavery leading again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption, by whom we cry, “Abba, Father.”

A child that is not sure of his father's love can never be as close to his loving father as the child that is sure of his father's love.

The Spirit of God who we have received endears us to God. He is the one who bears witness with our spirits that we are children of God (Romans 8:16).

There is a tendency by the flesh to bring back the old principle of fear in our dealing with God. This is the only principle the flesh understands, one that obeys only because of fear of the consequences. But in the new creation,  we obey our Father because we love Him.

Operating in God's kingdom by the old principle of fear limits us greatly in our relationship with our heavenly father.
But if a believer walks in the flesh, his relationship with God will have to be governed by fear because that is the only language the flesh understands.  Not obeying God still has fearful eternal consequences that should be dreaded,  but a man who walks in the Spirit has gone beyond that level of fear and entered into the realm of love that facilitates a growing relationship leading to transformation into God's divine nature and eternal kingdom might and greatness,  not merely an escape from eternal damnation.

God wants us to have a growing relationship with Him,  one where we continue to know Him more and more until the perfect day. This is only possible when we are rested in the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ and the Love of God. All of this is facilitated by the communion of the Holy Spirit who sheds the love of God abroad in our hearts and administers the grace we need for life and godliness.

Go into today remembering that grace and peace are multiplied in your life through the growing knowledge of God and of our Lord Jesus Christ (See 2 Peter 1:2). This knowledge is fostered by a loving fellowship with God our Father.

Confession: God loves and there's nothing the devil can do about it. I walk in this love and grow daily. Amen.

Prayer: Lord, help me walk above the dominion of the flesh and fear, and enter into the realm of your love through the dominion of your Spirit.

Led By The Spirit

Download Today’s Audio☞ bit.ly/aud2050

Romans 8:14 (NET) For all who are led by the Spirit of God are the sons of God.

Demian cried: "but I'm a child of God, how could this be happening to me Lord?" immediately he got a response in his spirit that said: "if you had allowed the Spirit of God to lead you, this wouldn't have happened".

Many believers do not walk in the reality of their sonship in God because they are not led by the Spirit of God. A man whose choices and decisions in life are determined by what other people will say and how he would be perceived by the world cannot say he is being led by the Spirit of God. A believer is either led by the Spirit or is led by the flesh. A person led by the flesh would find that he is ultimately led by the god of this world. He would find that he does things to either satisfy his greed, his lust or his pride. A man led by the Spirit of God would find that the only person he wants to please is God. He would rather be displeased and God pleased.

Having a daily discipline of exposure to the ministry of the word and prayer would help sharpen your discernment of the Spirit's leading, especially in complicated situations.

Knowledge of God's Word would help you know the ways the Holy Spirit leads and ways he would never lead you. We can be clear of these: the Holy Spirit would never lead you to commit sin. The Holy Spirit would never lead you to disobey the written word and counsel of God.

We can also be clear of these: the devil [and the flesh] would never lead you to pray. The devil would never lead you to love your enemies.

Go into today remembering that those who are led by the Spirit are those who walk in the reality of their sonship in God. They are not just those who can perceive the Spirit's leading, they are those who follow the Spirit's leading.

Prayer: Lord Jesus. please help me live a life that is led by your Spirit. Amen.

Spiritual Enlightenment

Download Today’s Audio☞ bit.ly/aud2049

Ephesians 1:18-19 (KJV)  The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,
And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power

After innocent accepted the Lord Jesus,  there were many things about the kingdom of God he did not understand, but unlike so many believers today,  he sought to understand them.

Innocent wanted to walk in the reality of God's power since he once read in his Bible that the kingdom of God is not in word but in power(1 Corinthians 4:20).
Because of this desire to understand the mysteries of the kingdom of God,  innocent had a great hunger for the word of God. Anywhere he heard that the word of God was taught with sincerely,  he would listen. He bought many books and spent money to attend many conferences. He downloaded hundreds of sermons and listened to them. He read the Bible daily and sought to pray more and more.
As time passed,  even innocent did not realize how much he had grown until he met the person that led him to Lord when they were on campus. This person had to confess that innocent now knew so many things that even he did not know, and as a result, walked more in the reality of God [and His Power] than most believers he knew.
Those who seek the kingdom of God as their first priority cannot be at the same level as those who do not(see Matthew 11:12).

Today's Bible verses capture part of Paul's prayer for the saints everywhere. It is the desire of God that the eyes of our understanding be enlightened. This is when we can know the riches of our inheritance and the exceeding greatness of Gods power made available for us.
Note that today's verses didn't say "that we may know about the riches of our inheritance",  it says "that we may know the riches of our inheritance". There is a difference between knowing about me and knowing me. Knowing me involves dealing with me personally, but one can know about me by merely reading about me or studying me from afar.
When the eyes of our understanding are truly enlightened,  we will not just know about the riches of our inheritance and the power thereof,  we would start experiencing the foretaste of these things,  and as a result, would groan in expectant hope as we await the resurrection,  which would usher us into the fullness of these things(see Romans 8:23, Philippians 3:20-21).

Go into today knowing that any believer who still has a worldly outlook to life; and still lives for this world(rather than for God's kingdom) is walking in terrible spiritual ignorance and has shortchanged himself. Such an outlook to life limits our ability to know the riches of our inheritance and the power thereof.

Prayer: Lord, please enlighten the eyes of understanding and help me know the riches of my inheritance in you. Deliver me from every spirit of distraction,  in Jesus name. Amen.

You Are Saved to Serve God

Download Today’s Audio☞ bit.ly/aud2048

1 Corinthians 6:20 KJV
For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.

There are those who believe that the reason for their salvation is so they could be free from their problems: poverty, oppression, sicknesses, etc. Others believe that it is so they could have power, dominate and rule.

But what do you think is the reason for your salvation?

Jesus came so that we should be saved from our enemies, and from the hand of all that hate us; [74] That he would grant unto us, that we being delivered out of the hand of our enemies might serve him without fear (Luke 1:71,74 KJV).

The above passage shows that salvation itself is freedom from our enemies, but many saved children of God today have spent a lot of their time in fighting enemies. Meanwhile, what we should be doing is to serve God without fear, in holiness and righteousness all the days of our lives (Luke 1:75 KJV).

The reason you are saved is so that you would glorify God. Because many have not lived by this truth, they fight battles that are already won in Christ.

If you want to live a life free from the fear of enemies, you will have to begin to live your life solely to glorify God. This way, God Himself will become the enemy of your enemies.

Pray this way: Father, I give myself to you-- spirit, soul and body. Let my life always give you glory.

Commit Your Way to the Lord

Download Today’s Audio☞ bit.ly/aud2047

Psalms 37:5 (NET)  Commit your future to the Lord! Trust in him, and he will act on your behalf.
Eliezer of Damascus was tasked with the responsibility to find a wife for Isaac. He didn't want to fail in this responsibility, so when he got to the land where he was to find the wife,  he committed his mission to the Lord,  and we saw that it was the Lord that acted on his behalf to find the right wife for Isaac(see Genesis 24). When people commit their ways to the Lord and truly ask that God's will be done, God would intervene. But the key to this is walking under the dominion of God in our day to day lives.
One of the wisest things a believer can do is to commit his future to the Lord. But why does God need us to commit our future to Him? Because prayer is the way we give God access into our lives to help us. Many times,  because of the sinful nature we are growing out of through transformation(see Romans 12:2,  we restrict God's access into our lives because every sin is an act of rebellion to the authority of God. God, therefore, needs us to consciously ask and commit things into His hands in order for Him to act on our behalf.
There is someone reading this Devotional who is about to make a very important business decision. The Lord is telling you today to pause for some time and take your time to commit your future into His hands. He wants to act on your behalf, but He needs you to consciously commit things to His hands and ask that His will takes preeminence.
Go into today remembering to commit your future to God's hand.  God is set to intervene in your life and act on your behalf in every area.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, I commit my future into your hand. Please come and take absolute control,  in Jesus name.  Amen.

Avoid Walking in the Flesh

Download Today’s Audio☞ bit.ly/aud2046

Romans 8:12-13 (NET)  So then, brothers and sisters, we are under obligation, not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh (for if you live according to the flesh, you will die), but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body you will live.

There is the sad but true story of a pastor's wife who became adulterous and rebellious. With time she denied the faith and became an atheist. This happened because as she continued to unrepentantly walk in the flesh,  she died spiritually.
When a believer continuously walks in the flesh (by committing sinful acts) in open rebellion,  that believer is committing sin leading unto [spiritual] death. We are instructed in 1John 5:16 not to even waste our prayers on such believers.

Some argue that those who have denied the faith did so because they were never really truly saved in the first place,  but there is no scripture to back that assertion,  only sentiments.  But there are  scriptures that clearly say people fall away(Hebrews 10:39, 6:4-6),  deny the faith(1 Timothy 5:8),  have a shipwreck of the faith(1 Timothy 1:19), die spiritually (Romans 8:13, Revelation 3:1-2), etc. We can learn from today's Bible verse that the reason for this is continuing to walk in the flesh. Walking in the flesh leads to spiritual death.

Faith in God is a most precious treasure(see 1Peter 1:7), one that we should fight to keep (see 1 Timothy 6:12). But one can lose this priceless treasure if by walking unrepentantly in the flesh, he continues to violate his conscience. Faith is spiritual and the sensor of the human spirit is the conscience. A ship with damaged sensors would have a shipwreck.

When you see someone who was once a believer getting to a point where he denies the faith,  it usually is because he died spiritually due to walking in the flesh and continuous violation of his conscience (see 1 Timothy 1:19).
One of the biggest dangers of doctrines that make believers comfortable in their sins (while invoking 'grace' and refusing to repent) is that some of such believers can come to a point of denying the faith because they have walked in the flesh unrepentantly for so long to the point of spiritual death.

Sin is antithetical to faith,  and the devil understands this too well. He understands that if he can get believers to walk in the flesh long enough without repenting,  Sin will gradually erode their faith until a time comes when they longer have the ability to believe in God. This is one of the scariest things that can ever happen but it is happening all the time, and the scriptures predict that it will happen in a large scale as a sign leading to the revelation of the antichrist (see 2 Thessalonians 2:3).

Go into today remembering that willful and unrepentant sinning is an act of unbelief towards God. Continuing in such a circle can bring a believer to the point where he no longer has the ability to believe in God.

Prayer: Lord, help me to maintain a clear conscience before you and before all men. Deliver me from every sin, in Jesus name. Amen.

He Also Wants My Body!

Download Today’s Audio☞ bit.ly/aud2045

1 Corinthians 6:20 (KJV)
For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.

After attending an evangelistic crusade, Dapo accepted Jesus into his life and soon joined a denomination. He found himself among friends who believed that what they do with their bodies did not matter since their spirits have been saved and it is their spirits that will go to heaven and not their bodies. Dapo continued this way and soon discovered that he couldn’t live the victorious life promised in the Bible. He met another brother in his workplace who was respected by everyone, including their boss. Dapo saw that there is a higher life this brother had and sincerely coveted this kind of life because he knew he did not walk in it.

After many years of trying, Dapo eventually consulted this other brother who simply told him that,  "God wants to dwell in your body also". After hearing this, Dapo exclaimed, "so He also wants my body!". He cut off from those friends and started following the doctrine of Christ (which establishes the dominion of God over people). That was when his progress started.

Like Dapo, you may not know that God also wants control of your body. He really wants to possess your body too, just the way he has possession of your spirit.

If what you do with your body does not glorify God, it is impossible for the world to know that you’re a child of God. This is why Paul wrote to us in our text that we must glorify God not only in our spirit but also in our body.

Go into today knowing that if God must reach out to the unbelieving world through you, what your spirit has received from His Spirit must be displayed in your bodily actions and conduct.

Pray this way, Father, I give myself to you spirit, soul and body. Be glorified in my body like you are in my spirit.

Life in the Spirit 9

Download Today’s Audio☞ bit.ly/aud2044

Romans 8:11 (KJV)  But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.

After Dayo was delivered and could now resist the temptation to indulge in certain sinful habits,  he realized that even though his soul was delivered, his flesh was now used to committing those sins and his flesh still had a craving for them. Even though the spirits that made those habits very compulsive and impossible for him to resist were now expelled,  Dayo found that his flesh was now his biggest problem,  and he could not cast out his flesh.
Dayo had made some new friends who were in the habit of praying the Spirit every night on campus. He discovered that each time he joined them to pray,  his flesh was now put in check and the craving for sin disappeared.
Dayo now learned from experience that the way to keep the flesh from pulling him into sin [and death] is by the quickening of the Holy Spirit.

Temptations have two main sources. The flesh and demons. When a temptation has become so impulsive that a believer does not have the ability to resist it,  it usually is because a demon is now involved. And demons are invited when people continue in sinful acts long enough.
After the demons responsible for impulsive sins have been expelled,  it is important for the believer to realize that the flesh loves to sin and would seek to bring him back into bondage all over again. The Power of the Holy Spirit is the only remedy to the weakness of the flesh. The Holy Spirit quickens our mortal bodies, and by doing this,  the weakness and craving for sin are suspended.
One way we allow the Holy Spirit to quicken us is by praying in the Spirit and being filled with the Spirit. (Being filled with the Spirit has a lot to do with our daily habits and disciplines. See the dynamics of being filled with the Spirit in Ephesians 5:19-21)
That's why the Lord instructs us to pray always. When we pray in the Spirit long enough,  the power of the Spirit is multiplied within us.

Life in the Spirit 8

Download Today’s Audio☞ bit.ly/aud2043

Romans 8:9-10 (NET)  You, however, are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God lives in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, this person does not belong to him.
But if Christ is in you, your body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is your life because of righteousness.

Dayo found it impossible to resist the urge to indulge in certain sinful harmful habits to his body. But after he was delivered from the four Spirits responsible for those habits,  he now had the ability to resist.
People would always behave according to the nature of the spirit that is in them. This is also true for those filled with the Holy Spirit.

What it means to be in the flesh is to be dominated and controlled by the fleshly sinful nature,  but what it means to be in the spirit is to be controlled by the spiritual nature of righteousness that only those who have accepted Christ as Lord can receive through the indwelling Holy Spirit.

If the Holy Spirit dwells in a person,  it means the person truly belongs to Christ. The Holy can only dwell within a person by that person's permission. Those who belong to Christ are those who have willfully submitted to Christ's Lordship,  and the Holy Spirit is given to them to administer the Lordship of Christ in their lives. That's why He convicts us whenever we do things contrary to the lordship of Christ, and those who desire to continue to fellowship with Him would repent and forsake their sins. Anyone who is not willing to be ruled by the lordship of Christ cannot be filled with the Holy Spirit. Everyone who belongs to Christ(who Christ is their Lord and owner) has the spirit of God dwelling within them.

You may be wondering about believers today who live contrary to the will of the Holy Spirit but still speak in tongues 'by the Holy Spirit'?  But the truth about this is in the last verse of today's scripture. If the spirit of Christ is in anyone, he will be dead to sin and alive to righteousness by the Spirit. The proof that a person is filled with the Holy Spirit is in their fruits, not their gifts( see Matthew 7:15-20)

Go into today remembering that a person cannot be truly filled with the Holy Spirit and continue to be unholy. A person takes on the nature of the spirit that possesses him. And by a person's habits and disciplines, he can inadvertently invite spirits into his life. Those who by obedience to the word of God seek to live holy lives would be filled with the Holy Spirit who would come to assist them to be holy.
Prayer: Lord, help me live a spirit-filled life. Amen.

Life in the Spirit 7

Download Today’s Audio☞ bit.ly/aud2042

Romans 8:6-7 (NET)  For the outlook of the flesh is death, but the outlook of the Spirit is life and peace, because the outlook of the flesh is hostile to God, for it does not submit to the law of God, nor is it able to do so.

Before Tochukwu realized how much his outlook was still shaped by the flesh,  he assumed he was serving God,  but he did not realize that he was ruled by self-centeredness and the love of money.
Because of this,  his spiritual life did not grow,  even though he was very active in church activities. He saw that he had no authority over demons,  and was unable to resist the devil.
But after he realized that his outlook to life was the fundamental problem,  he was delivered from the dominion of spiritual death.

The outlook of the flesh is a self-centered worldly mindset that always gravitates towards the love of money and is prey to the deceitfulness of riches. The deceitfulness of riches is that lie that says all you need to be happy and fulfilled in life is more money. It says a man's life consists of the abundance of the things he owns. So even though the expected fulfillment is not achieved when a person gets all the money he thought would bring fulfillment,  he assumes that the answer is in getting more money still. The deceitfulness of riches keeps people under slavery to Mamon, and slavery to mammon ensures that people are under the dominion of satan.

Today's Bible verses reveal that a believer who still has a fleshly worldly outlook to life would struggle with his spiritual life. By Faith in Christ Jesus, we have received spiritual life. But a fleshly outlook seeks to hinder this life from finding expression in our daily lives.

Go into today resting and finding security in the Lord,  understanding that He cares for you and will take care of you.
Determine to allow the Holy Spirit, through God's word,  shape your outlook to life and cause you to walk in the life of God.

Prayer: Dear Father,  please deliver me from every worldly and fleshly outlook to like. Help me to excel in spiritual life and please you in all regards. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.
