Faith and Perseverance

Download the Audio Version Here☞ http://bit.ly/aud2479

Hebrews 6:15 (NET) And so by persevering, Abraham inherited the promise.

For many years, Abraham walked with the Lord and all he had was hope. His major expectation from the Lord was still pending, but He remained patient and persevered till the fulfillment of the promise. Isaac was born as the child of promise. This was proof to Him that every other [eternal] promise was already his.

What would have happened if Abraham stopped persevering? He would have gone back to Haran. He would have stopped living as a sojourner in other people's land and gone back home where he too was a landlord. History has it that his hometown was far more developed than the places he was sojourning in. He had to put up with a lot of uncivilized men who didn't fear the Lord.

As you walk with the Lord and you discover His promises(through His word and in the place of fellowship with Him), you may experience the trial of faith and have a long wait period. In this period, either you develop patience which will make you spiritually mature(see James 1:3-4), or you give up and drawback. When a man draws back it means his heart has gone back to the world. He has gone back to Haran.

One of the major attributes of true faith is patience and faithfulness. This is continuing in doing what is right even though the promises may appear to tarry.

Go into today remembering that if you continue diligently in faith and patience, you will see the fulfillment of all that God has promised you.

Prayer: Lord, help me never to drawback. Help me remain in you and be fruitful.

Faith and Diligence

🔊Download the Audio Here☞ https://bit.ly/aud2478

Hebrews 6:12 (KJV) That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises.

Patience became very diligent and disciplined because of the people she was following. They were those who through faith and patience had inherited certain manifestations of God's promises. She observed that they all had one thing in common, they were all very diligent people.

It is not possible to be a person of faith to the point of inheriting the promises of God in your life without being a person of great diligence. Scripture reveals that God is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him(Hebrews 11:6). If diligence is not added to your pursuit of God, it might not be fruitful.

The easiest way to learn and become diligent is by following a diligent person. Diligence is a virtue that can be learned through followership. One of the surest places you'll find diligence is in the life of a person of faith. A man of faith is a faithful man, and a faithful man will be diligent and consistent.

The thing about diligence is that one continues to do certain things even when there's no instant gratification. He understands that if he continues in those things, there would be a reward at the end. That's how faith is too. A man of faith understands that his life of faith is not for nothing. He has a hope that propels his actions of faith. Faith is indeed the substance of things hoped for, and faith without action is dead (James 2:26).

Go into today remembering that one sign of true and living faith is diligence. “Seest thou a man diligent in his business? He shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men.” Proverbs 22:29,

Prayer: Father, I ask for and receive grace for greater diligence, in Jesus’ name. Amen. Proverbs 22:29, Hebrews 11:6.

The Antidote to Slothfulness

🔊Download the Audio Here☞ https://bit.ly/aud2477
Hebrews 6:12 (KJV)  That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises.

Patience and Precious were close friends in the university, but Patience was diligent while Precious was slothful. This showed even in the way they dressed and in their academic performance in school. One thing Patience observed about Precious was that unlike her, Precious had no mentors or people she aspired to be like. Patience on the other hand had mentors and people she was following. Because of this, she studied their lives and disciplines and unconsciously imbibed the culture of diligence from them.

Today's Bible Reading is very instructive. It says we should not be slothful but followers of those who through faith and patience inherit the promises. The antidote to slothfulness is followership. A man who follows cannot be slothful because following puts you in a frame of mind that gives no room for slothfulness. When the children of Israel were following the cloud in the wilderness, do you think they could relax aimlessly while knowing that at any time, the cloud would move and they would have to follow? Following someone does something to your psyche; It delivers from slothfulness which is a natural tendency(work) of the flesh.

Go into today remembering that even our Lord Jesus had who He was following. Everything Jesus did and said was the result of the orchestration of His Heavenly Father(see John 5:19-20). Bringing yourself under accountability puts you in a frame of mind that excludes slothfulness.

Prayer: Lord, please help me to be faithful and diligent in all I do. Deliver me from every pride in Jesus' name. Amen.

Living For Pleasure

Click Here to Download the Audio Version ☞ https://bit.ly/audio2204

1 Timothy 5:5-6 (NET) But the one who lives for pleasure is dead even while she lives.
Shehu did not abide but went back to the world because he was lured by fleshly pleasures. Before he accepted the Lord Jesus, he was addicted to drugs and other dirty habits that gave pleasure to the flesh. After he believed, he left those habits, but later went back to them because he wasn't properly discipled and didn't know how to create the atmosphere of grace around him that would suffocate the spirits of lust-- his best friends were still unbelievers.

Romans 8:13 reveals that if a believer lives according to the flesh, he will die.
The thing about living according to the flesh is that the believer has become one that lives for fleshly pleasure. Living for fleshly pleasure produces spiritual death (see today's Bible verse). A spiritually dead believer is as disconnected from God as an unbeliever. He is open to satanic manipulations and assaults and no longer enjoys the communion of the Holy Spirit. This is one of the saddest things that happen on earth. It will never happen to you in Jesus' name.

Go into today remembering that believers who indulge in [sinful] pleasure are toiling with spiritual death. The only way to overcome the power and chains of sinful pleasure is by the power of the Holy Spirit. This power is activated when we give ourselves consistently and intentionally to prayer and the word. By praying in the spirit, our spirits are charged with grace and this even affects and strengthens our mortal bodies (see Romans 8:11). On the other hand, our souls (mind: thoughts, desires, imaginations) are brought under the subjection of God's Spirit and power when we give ourselves intentionally and consistently to the sincere word of God. Jesus says His words are spirit and life (see John 6:63).

Prayer: Lord, deliver me from the trap of sinful fleshly pleasures. I ask that you help me live for you and please you in all things. Amen.

Confession: I'm of God. I don't live for sinful pleasure, I live to please Christ, and I am fruitful in every good work. Amen.

Foundational Truths: Eternal Judgment 2

🔊Download the Audio☞ https://bit.ly/aud2476

1 Corinthians 4:5 (NET) So then, do not judge anything before the time. Wait until the Lord comes. He will bring to light the hidden things of darkness and reveal the motives of hearts. Then each will receive recognition from God.

Before Sean believed in the Lord Jesus, he used to be very vengeful and would repay every evil for evil. That was actually what got him into prison. He stabbed a friend who tried to defraud him of a lot of money.

But after Sean accepted the Lord Jesus, he now understood that no one would escape the judgment of God, and judging a matter before the time was not wise.

When a Christian pronounces death upon his enemies because he is hurt by their actions, he has judged that enemy and has not waited for the Lord's judgment. I am convinced that Saul would have not had the opportunity to become Apostle Paul if Stephen had taken justice into his hands and used his spiritual authority to declare judgment on those who were responsible for his execution. Again, our Lord teaches us that when we judge people, we expose ourselves to the same standards of judgment we have used (see Matthew 7:2). For example, If a believer pronounces death on a person because they stole his phone, the day he would do something similar or equal to stealing a phone (knowingly or unknowingly), the accuser of brethren can use that as a basis to demand his death.

Go into today remembering that God is the judge of the living and the dead. No one can escape His judgment, and His judgment is most just and righteous. An understanding of this truth would deliver you from the need to hate your enemies. They actually need your love and mercy. Their judgment is sure if they don't repent.

Prayer: Lord, help me live in the light of eternity.

Foundational Truths: Eternal Judgment

🔊Download the Audio☞ https://bit.ly/aud2475
Hebrews 6:1-2 (NET) Therefore we must progress beyond the elementary instructions about Christ and move on to maturity, not laying this foundation again: repentance from dead works and faith in God, teaching about baptisms, laying on of hands, resurrection of the dead, and eternal judgment.

Sean was in prison when he accepted the Lord Jesus. He had committed so many crimes that he had lost count. The crime that sent him to jail was one of the least crimes he committed, and he knew he deserved a much longer prison sentence if half of what he did was discovered.

After he received the Lord Jesus, he understood that no one could escape the judgment of God, even though people escape human justice. There is going to be a time set aside for God's eternal judgment. Sean was particularly grateful and committed to the Lord Jesus because he understood that because of the substitutionary work of Jesus Christ, only in Christ would he be able to escape God's eternal punishment for the many crimes he had committed. He knew that just like he had to face a judge one day for his crimes that were discovered, everyone would face Eternity's Holy Judge and nothing can be hidden from Him.

When Sean was released from the penitentiary, because of the understanding he now had of God's eternal judgment, he found it totally unnecessary to take vengeance into his hands anymore. He knew that everyone would stand before God's judgment throne and no one would be able to escape this (see Ecclesiastes 12:13-14).

The teaching about eternal judgment reveals that God will bring to judgment every action, including every secret thing. People may escape human judgment, but no one would be able to escape God's eternal judgment. A sound understanding of this doctrine will give us the right perspective in our dealings with this present world.

Go into today remembering that if you have repented of your sins and are abiding in Christ, you will not be condemned on judgment day.

Prayer: Lord, help me live a life that glorifies you in all things. Help me not to live in a way in which I will be ashamed when I stand before your judgment throne.

The Hope of The Believer

🔊Download the Audio☞ https://bit.ly/aud2474

1 Corinthians 15:19 (KJV) If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable.

When Charles became a believer in the Lord Jesus, he was already making a lot of money from being a fraudster. He was already driving a brand new Mercedes Benz and had started building his first house while still a teenager in his second year on campus.

But he accepted the Lord Jesus and knew he had to forsake that life of fraud. He left the life of fraud because of hope in Christ. He understood that there was nothing of this world that was too big to give up for inheriting the kingdom of God. He knew he could not continue in his life of sin and inherit the kingdom of God (1 Cor 6:9-10). Because of sound teaching, he knew that all the wealth in this world put together was not sufficient to pay for the eternal glory of God’s eternal kingdom that he was called to inherit. But he also knew that this hope that made him forsake his ungodly wealth was not in this life of flesh and blood but in the life that is to come.

For Charles, if his hope in Christ was only in this life, he would have been most miserable because he forsook a life of affluence and embraced the kingdom life of selflessness and sacrifice.

Believers in Christ are those who set their affection on things above and not on things of this world (see Col 3:2). This doesn't mean believers would not be relevant in this world. As a matter of fact, the more we focus on God's kingdom and set our affection on things above, the more relevant and impactful we would be in this world because that is when our light would shine.

Go into today remembering that as a believer in Christ, most of our hope is towards the eternal glory that would shine brighter even when all the glories of this world has failed and expired.

That We Might Know the Things Freely Given to Us

🔊 Audio Version Here☞ http://bit.ly/2audio1186

1 Corinthians 2:12 (NKJV) Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God.

When Dorcas was first baptized in the Holy Spirit, she thought the only reason the Holy was given to her was for her to speak in tongues, and because of this, she was only conscious of the Holy Spirit whenever she felt she needed to speak in tongues. She had a very limited Spiritual life.

Unfortunately, many Christians have unconsciously become like Dorcas. They think that all the Holy Spirit was given for was for us to walk in spiritual gifts.

But we see in today's Bible text that the Holy Spirit was given that we might know the things freely given to us. What we know influences what we believe, and what we believe influences our destinies. The Holy spirit is our teacher, he guides us into all truth (see John 16:13).

One reason why it appears that many Christians do not hear the Holy Spirit teaching and leading them is because they do not have enough of the word of God in their hearts. The Holy spirit leads to us by activating truths of God’s word that we have previously received in our hearts. The written word is the vocabulary of the Spirit.

For a person who only knows very few words in English, communicating with him in English will be very difficult because you will be constrained to very few words that may not be able to express what you want to say. Many Christians do not hear much from the Spirit because they have very limited Spiritual vocabulary. The more of God’s truth you know, the more spiritual vocabulary you have, and the more easily you will be led by the Spirit.

Go into today determining to build your spiritual vocabulary by feasting on God's word. Ask the Holy Spirit to guide you into all truth

The resurrection of the Dead

Download Today's Audio☞ https://bit.ly/aud2472
1 Corinthians 15:42-44 (NET) It is the same with the resurrection of the dead. What is sown is perishable, what is raised is imperishable. It is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory; it is sown in weakness, it is raised in power; it is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body. If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual body.

When the Lord Jesus resurrected from the dead, His disciples at some point found it difficult to recognize him until he revealed himself to them. What was it about the resurrected body of our Lord?

The Lord Jesus is the first to resurrect with the glorified body. He is the first to experience the resurrection of the dead. Many have died and have been raised, but with the same kind of body that they died with. But the Lord Jesus resurrected with the glorified heavenly body that cannot grow old, die, can relate with heaven and the earth, but yet can walk among us and eat physical food.

Notice that after the Lord resurrected with the glorified body, he no longer needed the door in order to enter a building. He would normally pass through a wall, appear and disappear, and do all these things in his natural state. The glorified body is a visible human body, but it is a supernatural one. This is the kind of body we all will receive when the Lord returns and the dead in Christ rise first (see 1 Corinthians 15:51-52).

Of all the foundational truths of the faith, I believe that the resurrection of the dead is one of the least understood, and yet it is so important. Believing in the resurrection (that God raised Jesus from the dead) is one of the conditions for receiving salvation. Believing that God raised Jesus from the dead is in effect believing that God will also raise us too from the dead during the resurrection(see 1 Cor 15:13-14).

Go into today remembering that the resurrection of the dead is something that you will experience if you remain in Christ to the end. It is what will reveal our unlimited glory as sons of God (See 1 John 3:2, Romans 8:23). Setting your heart on this hope will empower you to live a pure, holy, and powerful life (see 1 John 3:3).
Prayer Confession: I walk in the power of His resurrection. I am unstoppable

Privileged to Know the Secrets of God

Download Today's Audio☞ https://bit.ly/aud2471

Psa 25:14(TLB) Friendship with God is reserved for those who reverence him. With them alone he shares the secrets of his promises.

Chief Dayo was very sick and about to die. Many people had prayed for him and he was still going to die, but when Emeka showed up, it was clear that even though others could pray, he was highly esteemed in heaven and could intercede for a person who was originally meant to die as a result of God’s judgment. Very terrible things can be averted if the people of God walk in true reverence for the Lord.

Once, during Jesus’ days on earth, a woman came to him asking that her daughter might be healed. Jesus’ reply was "It is not good to take the children's bread and throw it to the little dogs." (see Matt 15:26 NKJV)

You see, there are dimensions in God that are exclusively reserved for His sons and daughters. These, He will not give to non-children no matter what. There are general blessings: for instance, God says that He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. These are general blessings that everyone gets to receive from God, but not everyone can partake in the divine nature and sway these things.

Friendship with God is reserved for those who reverence Him. God reveals His secret to those who fear Him and walk uprightly because they fear Him.

Do you reverence God? Then, it has been given to you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven. see Matt 13:11 NKJV.

Go into today knowing that as a son who reverences his father, you are privileged to know God’s secrete. If you have not enjoyed this right, ask God for it today.

No Condemnation

Download Today's Audio☞ https://bit.ly/aud2470
Romans 8:1‭-‬2 (AMPC) THEREFORE, [there is] now no condemnation (no adjudging guilty of wrong) for those who are in Christ Jesus, who live [and] walk not after the dictates of the flesh, but after the dictates of the Spirit. [John 3:18.] For the law of the Spirit of life [which is] in Christ Jesus [the law of our new being] has freed me from the law of sin and of death.

Uche couldn't walk in the power of God because he lived under the spirit of condemnation. He had tried several times to quote Romans 8:1, but he was still under condemnation in his heart of hearts because he was not abiding in Christ. Even though he was very regular in church meetings, he had gone back to the world. He had gone back to his worldly friends and family members. He had gone back to his old way of doing things, but for a few exceptions.

Today's Bible verse is one very powerful and important scripture that every believer must know and understand. But this truth of no condemnation only applies to those who are in Christ Jesus.

What does it mean to be in Christ Jesus? It means to believe in the Lord Jesus and Abide in Him. Believing means accepting Jesus Christ as your Lord(Master) and savior. It means you surrender the ownership and control of your life to the Lord Jesus. If Jesus has truly become your Lord, His will and Word will rule your life. The reason why we repent when we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior is because we have submitted to new management, and everything in us and about us that was contrary to His way of doing things has to change.

What does it mean to abide in the Lord Jesus? It means to remain in Him and not go back to the world; your old manner of life. It means to abide in the church (which is His body) and be submitted to the authority of Christ through His church and be accountable to your Christian brothers and sisters.

Those who abide in Christ are those who are said to be in Christ, and there is no condemnation for them, only blessings. They walk in the light as He is in the light, they have fellowship with their Christian brethren, and the blood of Jesus cleanses them from all sin (1 John 1:7).

The devil's chief weapon against people is condemnation and a guilty conscience. With it, a believer cannot overcome the devil and would not be able to appropriate the grace and power of God that has been made freely available to him. The reason why those who will overcome the devil will do so by the blood of the lamb and the word of their testimony is that the blood of Jesus is our answer to the accusations of Satan. When the devil reminds you of a sin that you have repented of, remind him of the cross and the blood of Jesus. He has no answer to that. Jesus was crucified as the penalty for your sins. He has already paid for your sins on the cross. The reason the devil sends accusations against us is that he wants us to suffer for our past sins, but for those who are in Christ, Jesus has already suffered and paid for their sins.

Go into today thanking the Lord because there is no condemnation for you if you are Christ Jesus.

The Resurrection Doctrine

Download Today's Audio☞ https://bit.ly/aud2469
1 Corinthians 15:12-13 (KJV)Now if Christ be preached that he rose from the dead, how say some among you that there is no resurrection of the dead? But if there be no resurrection of the dead, then is Christ not risen

It surprises me that there are some people who say that they believe that there will be a resurrection of the dead, but they don't believe that Christ was raised from the dead nor was He the Son of God. I find it hard to believe that such people truly believe in the resurrection.

The reason believers in Christ Jesus believe in the resurrection is because we also believe that our Lord and Savior resurrected bodily, and because he resurrected, we as members of His body are assured that we too will resurrect. The same scriptures that foretold His death, burial, and resurrection also say we too would resurrect (see Isaiah 53:3-6, Psalm 16:10, Psalm 22:7-8, 18, 16, 31, Job 19:25-26, etc). Since Christ truly died and resurrected (according to what the scriptures foretold), we too would resurrect like Christ (according to what the scriptures foretell).

For a person who does not believe that the Lord resurrected, there is no basis for him believing that he would resurrect.

Go into today remembering that without the teaching and understanding about the resurrection, your gospel is not complete (see 1 Corinthians 15:1-22). It is because of an understanding of this truth that believers can live holy contented lives in this present world. It is because of the understanding of the glory that the resurrection would reveal in us that believers do not serve mammon like the rest of the world.

The devil has been trying since the beginning of the church to obscure this truth from the believers because he knows the power this truth activates.

Prayer: Pray for yourself and for the Christians in your nation, that the truth of the full gospel will bring divine transformation.

The Resurrection 2

🔊Get Audio Version Here☞ https://bit.ly/aud2468
Philippians 3:20-21 (NET) But our citizenship is in heaven – and we also await a savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform these humble bodies of ours into the likeness of his glorious body by means of that power by which he is able to subject all things to himself.

Before Adam and Eve sinned and fell short of the glory of God, they were glorified and could do many things today’s fallen man cannot do. Adam was the one who singlehandedly named all other living creatures on the earth; he gave them their working manual (See Genesis 2:19). Collectively, fallen man is still discovering aquatic species even today, things Adam already singlehandedly named.

Jesus, the last Adam, came to redeem man and bring us back into glory. He already has the glorified body since his resurrection over 2000 years ago. That's why he could ascend bodily into heaven (flesh and blood cannot do this). When He returns, we too will be changed into the likeness of His glorious body. This is when we would be able to walk in our fullness as sons of God (See 1 John 3:2, Romans 8:23). This is when creation will also be redeemed from the bondage of corruption.

The fallen man is no match for the glorified man. That's why when the Lord returns to the earth (and we His glorified saints with him) to take over the government of the earth, the people of the earth still in this beggarly state would try to resist, but it wouldn't be much of a contest. They would have no choice but to submit to Christ as their king, and we as their rulers(see 1 Corinthians 6:2, Daniel 7:22, Jude 1:14-15, Revelation 20:4).

Go into today remembering that because you are in Christ, you will inherit eternal glory during the resurrection. The best this present world has to offer is no match for the least we will get in the coming kingdom.

Prayer: Lord, help me live in the consciousness of your great eternal plans for me. Deliver me from worldliness and help me set my affection on things above.

The Truth About The Gifts And Calling Of God

🔊Get Audio Version Here☞ https://bit.ly/aud2467
1 Samuel 2:30 (NIV) "Therefore the LORD, the God of Israel, declares: ’I promised that members of your family would minister before me forever.’ But now the LORD declares: ’Far be it from me! Those who honor me I will honor, but those who despise me will be disdained.”

This conversation ensued between two friends after they returned from evangelism.
John, aren't you surprised at her response? She spoke in tongues right there in the bar and even promised to prophesy if we'll want to hear one. But she's lived as a drunkard and prostitute for many years now. I don't get this! I don't understand at all!

Fred, the worst of it for me was her deep insight and understanding of the word of God. She quoted that “the gifts and calling of God are without repentance” and explained that “whatever God gives, He'll never take away, that's why Satan is still powerful today".

John, I think she's right, what do you think?

Many have refused correction and called those who corrected them “religious” “ I've been saved and nothing can make me lose my salvation, God has given me the gift of salvation and because His gifts and calling are without repentance, I can never lose my salvation".

How can one rightly apply the teaching of Paul in Romans 11:29? Does it mean that a gift given by God can never be withdrawn?

From today's text, God withdrew the gift He gave Eli and his family (1 Sam 2:30) and did the same to Saul (1 Sam 13:13-14) and Judas (Acts 1:16-26). From these examples, it is clear that God withdraws His gifts and calling when people fall short of the requirements for them.

If the above is true, we can conclude then that what God does not repent from are his plans and intentions but the persons can change. For instance, Samuel replaced Eli; David replaced Saul and Mathias replaced Judas Iscariot but God's purposes were achieved.

Go into today knowing that you can lose what you have if you refuse to live by the principles that make for its sustenance.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, please help me live in obedience so I don't lose what you have given me.

The Resurrection

🔊Download Audio Here ☞ https://bit.ly/aud2466
Romans 8:23‭-‬24 (AMPC) And not only the creation, but we ourselves too, who have and enjoy the firstfruits of the [Holy] Spirit [a foretaste of the blissful things to come] groan inwardly as we wait for the redemption of our bodies [from sensuality and the grave, which will reveal] our adoption (our manifestation as God's sons). For in [this] hope we were saved. But hope [the object of] which is seen is not hope. For how can one hope for what he already sees?

After Lara prospered beyond her imagination and started dealing with some very wealthy people who did not know or fear the Lord, she started having a crisis of faith because her faith was on shaky foundations. All her expectations and hope from the Lord were for material prosperity and settlement, but as she started dealing with people with so much more prosperity who did not care about God, her faith almost seemed useless.

In Hebrews 6:1-2, we see that the resurrection of the dead is one of the foundational truths of the Christian faith. If this doctrine is not properly understood by a believer, at some point in his journey, he might run into the crises that Lara had.

The teaching about the resurrection of the dead reveals to the believer that when the Lord returns, our bodies [of shame] would be changed to glorified bodies. The dead in Christ will rise first, and then we which are alive and remain will be caught up together with them. As today's Bible verse teaches, this resurrection of the dead is what will reveal our true nature as sons of God. We would walk the earth with great power and glory and would rule and reign with the Lord Jesus for a thousand years on the earth (see Revelation 20:1-6). It is when this resurrection happens that the whole of creation will be set free from the bondage of corruption. That would be the reason a wolf and a lamb would be able to sleep on the same field together(see Isaiah 11:6). There would no longer be wild animals, and the elements would stop misbehaving and acting out in earthquakes, floods, storms, etc.

In this hope have we been saved. The appearing of our Lord and the resurrection of the dead is the blessed hope of our calling as children of God(See Titus 2:13). Any believer who does not understand this doctrine would have his faith on very shaky ground. Faith is the substance of things hoped for. When the hope that produces faith is shallow, the faith will be shallow and unable to stand the test of time.

Go into today remembering that the appearing of the Lord and the resurrection of the dead is the Blessed Hope of the believer. This is when it would be very clear that those who followed the Lord were the wise ones.
Prayer: Father, help me live my life with the kingdom of God as my focus, In Jesus' name. Amen.

Being Alert

🔊Download Audio Here ☞ https://bit.ly/aud2465

Colossians 4:2(NET) Be devoted to prayer, keeping alert in it with thanksgiving.

A mother observed that her baby became very sickly and would start crying uncontrollably around a particular time of the night. She had done everything she could do medically, but the situation did not improve. As she began to pray more fervently and became devoted to prayer, one of the nights, around the time her baby would begin to cry, she fell into a trance and saw a figure dressed in white entering the room and going towards her baby. As the figure drew closer, she sensed the darkness of its presence even though it was dressed in white. She knew that it was an evil spirit. She immediately woke up from the trance, and with the authority of Christ she cast out that evil spirit and instructed it never to come back again. That was the last day her baby was afflicted.

Many times, believers have been unnecessarily afflicted and troubled because they were not spiritually alert. A spiritually alert person will sense when something going on is a result of demonic activity and will be able to cast out the demons. A spiritually alert believer will be more discerning in spirit than a believer who is not spiritually alert.

As a believer, you should pray all the time and you should also have times when you pray. This is how to be devoted to prayer, and this is how your spiritual senses become alert. Believers who never take out time to pray regularly are generally spiritually weaker and less alert.

Go into today remembering that the way to be spiritually alert is by being devoted to prayer and thanksgiving.

Love Beyond Feelings

🔊Download Audio Here ☞ https://bit.ly/aud2464

Matthew 5:44-45 (KJV) “But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; that ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust."

When Jesus came, His people rejected him (John 1:11) yet He loved them. When He was to face death by the cross, His feelings were against it (Matthew 26:39) but love compelled Him (John 3:16). Since then, glory has been pouring unto God from men because of what He did.

You may choose to reciprocate goodwill, even the Pharisees did the same. You may choose to withhold love because the intended recipient is undeserving, but if your choice is to cause men to glorify God, you must learn to love even when you don't feel like it.

This kind of love goes beyond feelings, it is continuing in acts of kindness towards people irrespective of their attitude and your own feeling towards them. If they hurt you, you will feel hurt, but because of the love of God in you, the hurt will not produce a negative response from you. This kind of love is one of the easiest ways to withness to hardened unbelievers.

This is how Apostle Peter puts it, “live such good lives among the pagans that, though they accuse you of doing wrong, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day he visits us.” 1 Peter 2:12 NIV.

If you want believers and unbelievers alike to always glorify God because of you, you must learn how to love beyond feelings. The power of love is purest when the recipient is undeserving. Remember that the ultimate goal is to glorify God.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, help me to lead a life that will always bring you glory. Amen!

The Gospel of God

🔊Download Audio Here ☞ https://bit.ly/aud2463

1 Corinthians 15:1-2 (NET)Now I want to make clear for you, brothers and sisters, the gospel that I preached to you, that you received and on which you stand, and by which you are being saved, if you hold firmly to the message I preached to you – unless you believed in vain.

I had a conversation with a colleague who kept telling me how he admired my lifestyle and devotion to God. He wasn't a believer in the Lord Jesus but said he was a believer in God. We discussed how Jesus Christ is what makes the difference. You cannot preach the gospel without talking about Christ. The gospel is the message about Christ.

If Christ is not in the Center of the message, it is not the gospel of God.

It became necessary for Apostle Paul to make clear to the Corinthians the gospel they received so that they would know what it was and what it was not.

He went on to talk about Christ's death, burial, and resurrection.

He further went on to lay emphasis on the resurrection of the dead (read 1 Cor 15). The resurrection of the dead is an important aspect of our gospel message. Take it out of the gospel message and you've taken away hope from it (see 1 Cor 1519). Take away hope and you’ll deaden faith.

Today, there is a gospel message that only seeks to focus on hope and prosperity in this life, but fails to emphasize the coming of the Lord and the resurrection of the dead. It fails to emphasize to believers that the best they can have in this life of the flesh is less than the least they would have in the life of the resurrected body.

The problem with this kind of gospel is that even though it may be celebrated among none critical thinkers, it would be redundant among critical thinkers and those who are not driven by the need to alienate poverty. That’s why it appears that the gospel [popularly preached today] is losing traction in the most affluent nations of the world today.

Go into today remembering that the true gospel of God focuses on Christ and brings people eternal hope (whether they are rich or poor, young or old) not just for this life but for the life to come.

Prayer: Lord, help me walk in the reality and power of the Gospel. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Kemi was confused and disappointed with the conduct of Ben, her colleague, who was a pastor. He was a cheat, a womanizer, and a liar. When she could take it no more, she found the church that ordained him and reported him to the leadership. He was put under discipline and was stripped of his title until his repentance was evident.

The church felt so embarrassed because they were now associated with the bad name of Ben. They now knew that concerning Ben, they were too hasty to lay hands on him.

In 1 Timothy 5:22, Paul instructed Timothy not to lay hands on anyone hastily so that he would not identify with their sins.

Kemi could help Ben by reporting him to the people that ordained him because even though he had a call upon his life and was now operating independently as a pastor, he could be traced to an apostolic community that he was still accountable to.

After the period of Ben's discipline, he was restored and later became eternally grateful for the bitter process that brought about his restoration.

Go into today remembering that the doctrine of laying on of hands, when properly understood, would safeguard the Lord's sheep from wolves in sheep's clothing. If a person comes as a servant of the Lord, but cannot be traced to anyone or a group of known accredited people of God to whom he is accountable, it is a danger sign.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, please help the church in my generation awaken to all the preserving truths you have given as our safeguard, in Jesus's name. Amen.

Acts 13:2-3 (KJV) As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them. And when they had fasted and prayed, and laid their hands on them, they sent them away.

What is the difference between a prayer group or Christian fellowship and a local church? A local church is a community of believers who have [Church] government. This is appointed by the Apostolic ministry or Presbytery of an existing approved church community. Originally, local church government was appointed by either the apostles who took the gospel to them or the elders/Shepherds/presbytery of another established accredited church community responsible for the establishment of the new church group.

Timothy, as an apostolic representative, was to go and appoint elders over certain Christian groups in Ephesus so that they would become bonafide churches(see 1 Timothy 3). He was instructed to lay hands on no one hastily (1 Timothy 5:22).

The doctrine of "Laying on of hands" establishes that before a person can be approved as a minister to the body, they need to receive the “right hand of fellowship” of an existing established church/apostolic community through its leadership. We call it ordination these days. A Minister should be ordained.

Does this mean God cannot call a man without the involvement of any church? God certainly does, but that call will have to be confirmed by other approved ministers of God on the ground if the call is genuine.

Apostle Paul's call into ministry was very unique and peculiar. See what he says in Galatians:
Galatians 2:2 (KJV) “And I went up by revelation, and communicated unto them that gospel which I preach among the Gentiles, but privately to them which were of reputation, lest by any means I should run, or had run, in vain.”

Apostle Paul understood that despite His true and unique call from the Lord, he would have run in vain if he did not get the approval of the Apostles that were there before him. It is because of this approval that his writings were accepted into the Canon of scripture.

Go into today remembering that the church of the living God is very well ordered and guided. Any minster that cannot get the approval of other minsters that were there before him, is not safe.

Differentiating Repentance from Regret and Remorse

Hebrews 6:1 (KJV) Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God.

Ben was a school teacher known for his hostility towards students. He flogged them mercilessly for any and every mistake, so much that the students believed he found pleasure in seeing them cry. On one of such occasions, it was discovered that he had beaten the whole class for an offense they didn't commit and had wounded some severely in the process. Because of his frequent assault on students and the severe injury he had caused, he was handed over to the police and eventually lost his job. Because he lost his job and was disgraced, he wished he had not done what he did. When he saw the injury he had caused the students, he felt sorry for traumatizing them.

Ben wished he had not done what he did. That feeling of "what have I done to myself?“ is called regret; it is being sorry for the wrong done. Neither regret nor remorse equates to repentance. What then is repentance? It is being sorry for the wrong done against God and turning away from such. Repentance is necessary for seeking forgiveness. It is a prerequisite for God's forgiveness (see Acts 8:22, Acts 2:38, Luke 24:47, 1 John 1:9).

Ben was sorry for what he had done to himself (regret) and to his students (remorse) but not to God. Thus, he never repented and was therefore not forgiven by God; he probably did not know that doing evil or wrong to people is doing evil against God.

Many Christians are falling for the trick of Satan by spending so much time in regret and remorse for the sin committed instead of coming to God in repentance, thus, they are not forgiven.

Go into today knowing that regret and remorse without repentance will not produce forgiveness, but if anyone comes to God in true repentance, God is faithful and just to forgive.

Prayer: Repent of any known wrongdoing by confessing it to God and asking for His forgiveness.

One of the very remarkable things that Sandra observed after she received the Holy Spirit was that the power of God was now tangibly in her life. She knew this for sure because after she received the baptism of the Holy Spirit, she gave herself to much praying in the spirit on a daily basis. She was so filled with the power of the Holy Ghost that at certain times it was as though she was drunk.

You know, Ephesians says do not be drunk with wine but be filled with the Holy Spirit (see Ephesians 5:18).

As Sandra continued to learn the Foundational teachings of the faith, she learned that the tangible power of the Holy Spirit that so filled her can flow to other people and cause them to be healed, delivered, etc. She also learned that this happened more easily through the laying on of hands.

After the tongue which the Bible refers to as our glory(compare Psalm 16:9 and Acts 2:26 in KJV), I believe that the hands are the most important body parts for spiritual manifestation and activity. Through the lifting of our hands, we can more easily demonstrate spiritual surrender and connect with the power of heaven, and through our hands, we can more easily transmit spiritual power. It is important for us to understand this because the Lord wants us to share the virtue and power we have received from Him and help people. He says we shall lay our hands on the sick and they shall recover(see Mark 16:18).

The next time you lay your hands on someone or something, be intentional about it and know that power will literally flow out of your spirit through your hands and cause a miracle or healing. Even a broken car can be miraculously fixed because you allowed power to flow from you to it through the laying on of your hands.

Go into today remembering that if you're baptized in the Holy Spirit, you have received power and this power is transmittable through the laying on of your hands. This power increases when we pray in the spirit.

Prayer: Ask the Lord to help you maintain a spirit-filled life so that your body will be able to transmit His power and heal the sick, cast out devils, and solve problems. Etc.

False Prophets

Matthew 24:11-12 (KJV)And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.

After suffering greatly in the hand of a particular false prophet, Bimbo was now generally cold towards ministers of the gospel and believers. She fell prey to that false prophet because he was claiming to be a genuine man of God who preaches holiness and righteousness, but ultimately was a charlatan who used witchcraft to turn people like her into his personal ATM.

Because of the things she had experienced, her love for the body of Christ had grown cold. She didn't trust anybody again and was now closed-hearted and tight-fisted towards the work of God.

I believe it is no coincidence that after the Lord Jesus talks about many false prophets rising that He informs us that iniquity shall abound.

Every church assembly is meant to be the light of its territory(see Rev 1:20, Matt 5:14), but through the invasion of false prophets claiming to be men of God, what is meant to bring territorial light becomes darkness, and if the light [of a territory] becomes darkness, how great is that darkness! (Matt 6:23).

One of the most effective ways to identify false prophets is by their fruits in relation to money. They serve mammon and not God. Money is more important to them than the souls of men.

What then is the solution?
Believers must beware of false prophets (Matt 7:15). Do not follow people because of signs and wonders, but follow them because the words they speak impart life to your righteous spirit (see John 6:63, 68). False prophets can perform lying wonders and magic, but cannot impart the life of the Holy Spirit into their words.

Go into today remembering that it is not a light thing before the Lord for the love of a believer to wax cold. The Lord’s first letter to the Churches makes this clear (see Rev 2:4-5).

Prayer focus:
Revelation 2:5 (KJV) Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent.

Patrick didn't know that the baptism in the Holy Spirit was given to empower the believer. He thought all it does is to give us the ability to speak in tongues.

After he received the baptism in the Holy Spirit, he noticed that he was no longer as shy as he used to be. He now had the boldness to preach the gospel to his old friends he was afraid of telling that he was now born again. From experience, he observed that the infilling of the Holy Ghost does much more than to simply give us the ability to speak in tongues, it is our enduement with power. He also observed that when he prayed in tongues, this power was generated within him (1 Corinthians 14:4).

The Lord Jesus told His disciples that they would receive power after the Holy Ghost comes upon them, and then they would be witnesses unto Him(Acts 1:8). I don't know if the disciples expected to speak in tongues when they received the infilling of the Holy Spirit, but one thing they surely expected was divine empowerment. This empowerment was the reason why fearful Peter that denied Jesus thrice in the city of Jerusalem could stand boldly in that same city and PREACH Jesus. This power was the reason the apostles and disciples walked in the miraculous, etc.

The empowerment of the Holy Spirit is so we can be effective witnesses unto the Lord. It is not given to us as a Christian accessory. If there is no willingness to be a witness unto the Lord, there is no readiness for the empowerment of the Holy Spirit.

Go into today remembering that the baptism of the Holy Ghost empowers us to fulfill our destinies in God. Every believer who desires this empowerment must be determined to be a witness unto the Lord.

Prayer: Lord, please empower me to fulfill my destiny in you. Fill me with the Holy Spirit.

Even though Patrick had already been baptized in water, it had little relevance and carried little power for him because he did not understand what it stood for and why it was necessary. He thought the purpose of water baptism was "to fulfill all righteousness". He also believed that the purpose of baptism in the Holy Spirit was so believers would speak in tongues. He knew nothing about the baptism of fire. He was not taught about these things and because of his ignorance, he could not connect with the power they brought.

The baptisms are a channel of divine power into the life of the believer. Believers lay hold on this power through faith furnished by understanding.

Baptism in water disconnects us from our old life so that we would be empowered to walk in the newness of life. Baptism in the Holy Ghost empowers us while baptism of fire purifies us so we can be used for greater things by God (2 Timothy 2:21).

When we believe in Jesus, we die to our old life and should put on the new life. Our spiritual burial is marked by our water baptism. Through it, every record of darkness concerning us is erased and we are brought into the expectation of the resurrection. We died with Christ(through faith), are buried with Him through [water] baptism, and would be resurrected just like Him because we have gone through the first two processes with Him.

Go into today meditating on the following verses:
Romans 6:3-5 (NET) Or do you not know that as many as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? Therefore we have been buried with him through baptism into death, in order that just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too may live a new life. For if we have become united with him in the likeness of his death, we will certainly also be united in the likeness of his resurrection.

Prayer: Thank you Father for the mystery and power of the baptisms. Please help me make the most of them and walk in the newness of life in Jesus' name. Amen.

1 Timothy 4:16 (KJV) Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee.

As Linda grew in her walk with the Lord, she realized that the more of God's word she understood, the more it purified her, and the result was a closer walk with God. For example, Linda used to make promises without fulfilling them, and she didn't take her words very seriously. But as she continued to learn the word, she realized that she was not living in God's perfect will by being unfaithful with her words. As she adjusted and became more truthful, she found that the power of God could now be expressed through the words of her mouth.

One evening, she was sitting outside near the car porch when her sister drove in. Because of the excitement of seeing her, her sister forgot to engage the auxiliary brake before exiting the car. As soon as she came out of the car, the car started moving away and was heading toward a nearby wall with increasing speed because the place was slopy. Linda simply said "I command you to stop", and instantly, the car stopped. This was one of the many examples of how God's power could now be expressed through Linda's words because her tongue was now sanctified.

In today's Bible verse, we see Apostle Paul telling Timothy that by continuing in the doctrine [of Christ], he would save himself and those who hear him. It was by continuing in The Doctrine that Linda's tongue was saved and was now made a vessel that could give expression to the power of God.

Any believer who does not pay attention to sound teaching will live a life that is not truly saved from the power and dominion of sin. After accepting Christ, It is by receiving the engrafted word that our souls are saved from the entanglements of old sins (see James 1:21).

Go into today remembering to pay attention to sound teaching.
Prayer: Ask the Lord to help you pay attention to sound teaching and lose appetite for any teaching that is not sound.

Hebrews 6:1 (KJV)  Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God

Clara was born again, but she lived in a society that was deeply humanistic. This society existed as if there was no God. God was not a factor in the governance or ideals of that society.

Clara did not know that society was trying to condition faith out of her heart. She felt she really did not need God in her daily life because "man can fix his own problems" ( forgetting that "there is more to life than food and raiment"). But because she was a believer who now had the understanding the Holy gives, she saw that in spite of how physically affluent her society was, there was deep moral and spiritual poverty. Most of the young people lived depressed, miserable lives, and suicide was a widespread practice in that society. She saw firsthand how foolish it was for a society to exist without the consciousness of God.

Faith towards God makes a believer live daily in the consciousness of God's commanding presence. This is the real reason why we don't continue in sin. The more conscious a believer is of God's presence, the more difficult it would be for him to sin.

After the faith that brought us under the Lordship of Christ and led to our repentance, it is important that we live our lives in the consciousness of the commanding presence of Almighty God. We should also live with the understanding that God is not just present but he is King and controller of all things. Nothing happens without His knowledge, and He causes all things to work together for the good of those who love Him and who are called according to His purpose(see Romans 8:28). This is the reason why we are to do all things in the name of the Lord (Colossians 3:17).

Go into today remembering that faith in God means living your life with the consciousness of God's presence and sovereignty. Those who live and make their choices as if God does not exist do not have faith, no matter how religious they are.

Prayer: Lord, let every moment of my life be dominated by the consciousness of Your presence. Amen.
