Appropriating God's Promises 2

Download the Audio Version Here☞ http://bit.ly/aud2508

Isaiah 43:18-22 ( KJV) Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert. The beast of the field shall honour me, the dragons and the owls: because I give waters in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert, to give drink to my people, my chosen. This people have I formed for myself; they shall shew forth my praise. But thou hast not called upon me, O Jacob; but thou hast been weary of me, O Israel.

Just before Juliet was born, an angel of the Lord had appeared to her Dad giving him information and instructions concerning his daughter. One of such instructions was that she was not to be brought up with affluence; she was to learn to be moderate, firm, and trust God for her needs because of the nature of the assignment God has for her.

Even when her parents told her about these things, she could not understand why the only daughter of a billionaire will be treated as a commoner by her own parents. In anger and pain, she abandoned her parents and left the house to go seek after what she considered a better life. The best she got however was nothing compared to what her parents were offering. After much frustration, she returned to her parents only to discover that all her father's estate had been willed to her. “But Dad, why didn't you tell me you have willed all you have to me all along?" She asked, “didn't I told you I have good plans for you?” her Dad replied. She became ashamed of her actions and asked for the forgiveness of her parents. “I am so sorry for not trusting you" she pleaded.

It is by faith in God through Jesus Christ that you become enlisted for the promised blessings. It is however by trusting God continually and unwaveringly that you will become a partaker of the blessings. This will require process and time, you will have to demonstrate faithfulness before God will entrust the resources of His kingdom to you.

The second thing needed to appropriate God's promised blessings is faith and patience. Hebrews 6:12 (KJV), “That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises".

Go into today asking God for the faith and patience needed for you to obtain the promises. If you have judged God unfaithful and have abandoned him like Juliet did her parents, repent and ask for God's forgiveness.

Reasonable Service

Download the Audio Version Here☞ http://bit.ly/aud2507
Romans 12:1 (KJV) I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

The Holy Spirit makes an appeal through the fingers of Apostle Paul to believers here, instructing that considering all that God has done for them, presenting their bodies a living sacrifice is the reasonable service to render.

The concept of sacrifice in the scripture is such that when a sacrifice is offered to God, it becomes God’s to use exclusively as He deems fit. The one who offers the sacrifice must bring it willingly, kill it and then the priests divide it and use it in accordance with God’s directive. So you see, whatever is offered as sacrifice to the Lord becomes His to use as He wills.

Likewise, when we offer our bodies as a living sacrifice to Him, though we live, we now live to do His bidding. God’s will is revealed in God’s word by the help of the Holy Spirit. This means that the instructions of God’s word are no longer subject to your whims but we are rather subject to it. This is what is referred to as the reasonable service of a believer.

Apostle Paul echoed a similar thought in his epistle to the Corinthian church when he said “He died for everyone so that those who receive his new life will no longer live for themselves. Instead, they will live for Christ, who died and was raised for them” (See 2 Cor 5:15 NLT). Until one grasps this truth, he will consider this demand of a reasonable service to be an unreasonable requirement. He will consider his body to be his and to be used to please the Lord as he deems fitting, instead of seeing his body to be the Lord’s and to be used as He has deemed fit.

Go into today remembering that in the light of God’s redemptive work for you, offering your life as dedicated unto the Lord is your (only) reasonable response.

Do Not Be Moved

Download the Audio Version Here☞ http://bit.ly/aud2506

1 Corinthians 15:58 (NET)So then, dear brothers and sisters, be firm. Do not be moved! Always be outstanding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.

Sophia had a very disturbing dream thrice. The summary of the dream was that the enemy was trying to move her away from her place of glory and push her into a place of shame. At this same period, she felt she was no longer as close as she used to be to the Lord. It became clear to her that there was a shaking and the devil wanted her to be moved.

Being moved is a metaphor used in scripture for an undesired relocation from a place of God-ordained glory to a place of shame. In Psalms 125:1, we see that they that trust in the Lord shall be as mount Zion which cannot be removed.

From today's Bible verse, we can see that one way to ensure that we are not moved is by being outstanding in the work of the Lord. The devil will try all methods to make our faith waver and cause us to be moved, but for those who trust in the Lord, they would be as mount Zion that cannot be moved. One sure sign that a believer truly trusts in the Lord is that he would serve the Lord. As a believer, you must be able to identify ways in which you are actively serving the Lord.

Many of God’s promises are activated through service. A very popular promise in Isaiah 54:19(that says no weapon formed against you shall prosper) is actually to those who serve the Lord. This promise ensures that curses (which is a form of spiritual judgment) never find fruition in the lives of God’s servants.

Go into today remembering that if you abound in the service of the Lord, no devil can move you away from your place of ordained glory.

Prayer Confession: I am serving the Lord and growing from glory to glory. Hallelujah!

Appropriating God's Promises 1

Download the Audio Version Here☞ http://bit.ly/aud2505
Isaiah 43:18-22( KJV) Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old.

Juliet was born into a wealthy home but she was raised in a very moderate fashion. She had no special privileges but was brought up like every other child in the community. Her parents met her needs but she was not pampered. As she grew older, she became uncomfortable and would always ask “Dad, why am I being treated like a commoner when it's obvious I'm not?" Her Dad's response was always the same “I have good plans for you".

Since her Dad will not change, she became angry, gave up on him. “I can fend for myself,” she said. But this did not ease her condition, it only worsened it.

Do you still trust the God whom you know created all things and owns all things but who ‘failed' to grant your little request? Can you hear his gentle voice as He says “I have good plans for you" (Jeremiah 29:11)? Or are you going to give up on him and stop depending on Him?

The first step in appropriating God's promises is believing and seeking God diligently. Hebrews 11:6 says “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him".

If you will ever benefit from the promises of God, you must believe Him against all odds and seek His will diligently.

Go into today knowing that God has good plans for you and the wise thing to do is to trust Him.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, please give a heart that trusts you always and in all things. Amen

Know God Intimately

Download the Audio Version Here☞ http://bit.ly/aud2504
John 17:3(KJV) ‘’And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent"

One of the reasons God saved you is so that you can enjoy the privilege and benefits of knowing Him. Salvation isn't just "insurance" from hell's flames, neither does God intend that you receive forgiveness for your sins and then merely survive until heaven. Salvation is so much more! "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life" (John 3:16). "And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent" (John 17:3). Salvation is getting to know this awesome, wonderful, loving God for the rest of eternity!

Jesus came to give you eternal life. The idea that salvation is merely "fire insurance" came from the church putting a period where the Bible only has a comma. It's not "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish" period. So many preachers stop here and emphasize salvation's by-product of missing hell and totally ignore God's primary purpose— "but have everlasting life." You were saved for intimate relationship with your heavenly Father and His Son! Jesus came because He loved you! He didn't come as a dutiful Creator under some sense of obligation to rescue His wayward creation. Christ's motivation was pure love, and anyone who loves has a need to be loved in return! God's compassion for you in your lost condition and His passion to restore you to fellowship with Him was combined into a sacrificial love that endured the cross. With the barrier of sin forever removed, you've been freed to receive His love and to love Him in return!

The relationship Adam and Eve lost has now been restored to you. "Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father" (Gal. 1:4). Jesus didn't just save you from a future evil world (hell); He also delivered you from this present evil world, according to the Father's will. You are now able to walk and talk with Him!

Get to know God! "Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore" (Ps.16:11). "Jesus Christ: Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory" (1 Pet. 1:7-8). True joy and happiness in this life come from your intimacy with God. Knowing Him is eternal life!

Prayer: Lord God, help me know You more and experience the joy and peace that comes from Your presence.

Perfecting Holiness In the Fear of God

Download the Audio Version Here☞ http://bit.ly/aud2503
2 Corinthians 7:1 (KJV) Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

From when Debbie was a child, she was trained in the fear of the Lord. She knew that God was the judge of heaven and earth, and even though people may escape earthly justice, no one can escape the judgment of God. She understood that people who live as if God does not exist are living in foolishness.

So when her husband was unkind to her and there was this male colleague in her office who was offering solace and friendly comfort, she knew exactly what he wanted and she was not ready to dabble in that territory of sin and immortality. Debbie did not fall into the trap of adultery because she feared the Lord. The fear of the human consequences or the love she had for her husband was not strong enough to restrain her from adultery. She wasn't even sure her husband wasn't already committing adultery himself, but she kept herself from sin and walked in the holiness of God because she had a foundation of the fear of God. This was the reason why she could come out of that season of her life victoriously, and her prayers were very powerful.

Many believers today have told themselves that there is no need to fear God. That God is their father and no matter what they do, God will not punish them. That doctrine sounds cozy and attractive, but it is not scriptural nor is it true. God is no respecter of persons. If you are a believer, He empowers you to walk as His child. If you walk like an unbeliever, you are proving that you are not truly His child, and the wrath of God will visit all disobedience whether it is from a titled Christian or from an atheist. This is the reason why when we sin or go astray as believers, the Lord disciplines us and brings us to repentance. He does this because he does not want us to be judged with the rest of the world (see 1 Corinthians 11:31).

Go into today remembering that because of God's love for you, He made the ultimate sacrifice to redeem you from the way of life that was going to lead you into the imminent condemnation of the world. Now that you are saved, trust Him to walk in a manner worthy of the call. Hebrews 12:28-29 says: "Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear: For our God is a consuming fire".

Growing In The Kingdom

Download the Audio Version Here☞ http://bit.ly/aud2502

1 Peter 2:2 (KJV) As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby.

Joel who had just accepted the Lord Jesus Christ joined a Church to fellowship. After a few months of joining the Church, he expected that certain key responsibilities be given to him, but none was assigned to him. He became angry and planned to leave the Church. While pondering on this, he heard a preacher preach on today’s text and this changed him. He realized he was still a spiritual infant that was still in need of maturity before he could handle responsibility.

As a new believer, what is required of you if you must grow properly is that you sit down to study and learn the word of God. It is the word that will keep you from sinning and guide you to the path of greatness in God.

Psalm 119:11 and 105 (KJV) reads ‘Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee’ and ‘thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path'.

For you not to walk in darkness, you need light. The word of God is this light. It is after you must have acquainted yourself with the word of God and be transformed by it that you would be ready to handle positions of responsibility in God's house. But until then, study the word of God until you have shown yourself approved unto God(see 2 Tim 2:15). Once God approves you, He will announce you Himself.

Go into today making up your mind to study and learn the word of God instead of fighting for positions.

Pray this way: Father I desire to know you more than I desire positions. Reveal Yourself to me as I study and learn your word in Jesus' name. Amen.

Receive a Sound Mind

Download the Audio Version Here☞ http://bit.ly/aud2501

2 Timothy 1:7(KJV) For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

Orevas’ mom suffered mental illness from her early twenties until she died at age 67. Oreva saw first-hand what it was like for someone to live in a fantasy world and have no control over the thoughts that came into their mind. It was a frightening experience. When she came to the Lord, she frequently prayed that neither she nor her children will inherit any of that mental instability. Whenever she felt concerned she would say to herself ‘‘for God has not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, love and sound mind’’ (2 Tim. 1:7). ‘‘God has given me a sound mind, He has also given my son a sound mind and daughter a sound mind and I will accept nothing less’’. She and her children enjoyed sound mind.

The world and the devil are making every effort to control the child’s mind. The good news is that you have the authority to resist those efforts. If your child is young, you have the authority over what he puts over his mind, that is, the television, movies, and the videos he watches, the radio programs, tapes and the CDs he listens to, the books and magazines he reads, etc. You can also do as much to help your child fill his mind with Godly movies, words, and pictures, but most important of all, you have the power of prayer. So even if your child is away from your direct influence, you can pray for his or her mind to be sound, protected, and freed.

One of the many wonderful things about receiving Jesus and being filled with the Holy Spirit is that along with every other blessing, we gain such stability and sound-mindedness that cannot be acquired any other way. That is because we are given the mind of Christ. The Bible says ‘‘let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus’’ Phil. 2:5. You can resist the worldly mind and allow His mind to be in control, and we can continually renew our minds by taking every thought captive.

Mental illness does not have to be passed from one generation to the other, and mental imbalance is not God's will for our children, neither is confused or unstable thinking.

A big part of having a sound mind has to do with what goes into it. Filling our minds with what is out in the world brings confusion. Filling our minds with the things of God- especially the word – brings clarity of thought and peace of mind. The Bible says, ‘‘God is not the author of confusion but of peace (1Cor. 14:33). We must do what we can to make our children have the word of God in their minds so as to crowd out the confusion and ensure that they are sound-minded. God has given us a sound mind, why should we accept anything less for our children?

Prayer Confession: I have received the Spirit that makes me walk in Love, Power, and a Sound Mind. This blessing is for me and for my children( Acts 2:39). I walk in Love, I walk in Power, and I have a sound mind, In Jesus name.

Liberation Through The Word

Download Audio Version☞ http://bit.ly/aud1578

Psalm 119:11 (KJV) Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.

After Chide accepted the Lord Jesus, he struggled with many of his previous bad habits and sins. When he discussed this with his discipler, his discipler would recommend prayer and fasting. Chide observed that the prayer and fasting worked in keeping his flesh at bay, but when the fasting was over, he observed that the flesh would spring back up and seek to control him. His spiritual life was like a seesaw; on fire today and down tomorrow.

One day he saw his friend reading a book about the kingdom of God and he was drawn to it. He borrowed the book and started reading it. For the first time, Chide came into an understanding of God’s Truth and kingdom. From then, he was now excited to read the Bible, and even 'the old testament' now made sense to him. He observed that as he became a person of the Word, his prayers became much more powerful and he was now free from the bondage of sin. He received His freedom through the knowledge of the Truth.

Jesus told those who believed in Him that it is when they abide in His word that they would know the truth, and the truth will make them free(see John 8:31-34).

I have come to realize that the most effective way to escape the power of sin is through abiding in God’s word. The way God sanctifies us is through His word [which is Truth] (see John 17:17). The word of God is the spiritual water that cleanses and renews the minds of those who are born again( see Eph 5:26).

Go into today determined to be a person that abides in God’s word.

The Fear of The Lord and His Authority

Download the Audio Version Here☞ http://bit.ly/aud2500
2 Corinthians 7:1 (KJV)  Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

Stanley's college roommate was a campus pastor who didn't fear the Lord. It was evident in his conduct and character. Stanley was not a pentecostal like his pastor friend, but he was brought up by his parents to fear the Lord. There were many things his pastor friend did that he could not do because the fear of the Lord had stripped him of such sinful courage. As time passed and Stanley became baptized in the Holy Ghost, he walked in so much power that his pastor friend became jealous. Demons were afraid of Stanley but the same demons despised his pastor friend.

Stanley was powerful and had authority because he walked in the holiness of God. This was possible because he feared the Lord. His pastor friend was not a man of spiritual authority even though he regularly prayed for long hours in tongues.

From today's Bible text, we see that in order for us to walk in God's promise of sonship (see 2Cor 6:18) and the power that accrues to it, there is the need to perfect holiness. But this is not possible for the person that does not fear the Lord. It says “perfecting holiness in the fear of God”. It is only those who fear God that can truly walk in His holiness and the attendant authority.

Go into today remembering that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. The fact that certain modern teachers do not want to talk about it does not change the truth of God's word.

Prayer: Father, help me walk in Wisdom and Favour. Help walk in the fear of the Lord.

Walking In the Kingdom Reality

Download the Audio Version Here☞ http://bit.ly/aud2499
1 Corinthians 15:50-51 (NET) Now this is what I am saying, brothers and sisters: Flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable.
Listen, I will tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed

While Jide was a freshman in college, he joined a frat group that had roots in occultism. He eventually got interested in Satanism and witchcraft. His study of sorcery quickly made him realize that there was no way a human being could overcome the powers of darkness with his willpower. This was only possible by a higher power than the power of darkness. So when he saw Brian delivered from the many demonic bondages that he was under before he believed, he knew that the power of Christ could do anything, including the resurrection of the dead into the kind of body that can inherit such a kingdom that can wield such power. This was what the preacher taught when Jide accepted the Lord Jesus.

It is clear from today's verses that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God. There is a resurrection body that believers would receive that would enable us to walk fully in the realities and power of the kingdom of God. But while we are still in this body of flesh, we can only walk in certain realities of the kingdom if we walk in the Spirit and not in the flesh.

The more we walk in the Spirit, the more we would be able to walk in the reality and power of the kingdom. Walking in the flesh hinders this from happening.

Go into today remembering that the way to walk in the reality and power of God's kingdom is to humble yourself, walk in the Spirit and not gratify the lusts of the flesh.

Prayer: Father, please help me from this day walk in a higher level of your kingdom power and glory. Deliver me from all hindrances, in Jesus' name. Amen.

Walk Carefully

Download the Audio Version Here☞ http://bit.ly/aud2498

Ephesians. 5:15 (NET) Therefore be very careful how you live – not as unwise but as wise

To walk carefully is to live accurately, precisely, and strictly in conformity to the standards of the Lord. We are to live according to God's will. Some Christians live loosely, doing questionable, controversial things. However, we should not live loosely or carelessly. We are to live conscientiously, being mindful of God’s standards. We are to live in a way that gives close attention to God’s instructions. Before you do anything, think first if it is according to God’s will. Ponder first if it is according to God’s will in God’s Word. Consider first God’s standards before you take a course of action. But the question is how do we walk carefully? According to the text, we are to walk ‘‘not unwisely but wisely’’.

What does Paul mean by the word “wise” here? “In all wisdom and insight making known to us the mystery of his will, according to his purpose, which he set forth in Christ as a plan for the fullness of time, to unite all things in him, things in heaven and things on earth” (See Eph. 1:8-10, emphases added) Here, the wisdom of God is his plan to unite all things in Christ.

The things we pursue are the things that are important to us. The things God does are the things that are important to Him. God wants to bring all things to Christ. That is what God is doing. That is the wisdom of God. Now you walk wisely if you pursue the thing that God is doing. You are wise if you align yourself with this wise plan of God to bring all things to Christ. Wise people of God pursue the things that God is doing.

Then Paul prayed that the God “may give you a spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of him . . . that you may know what is the hope to which he has called you, what are the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and what is the immeasurable greatness of his power toward us who believe” (Read Eph.1:17-19, emphasis added). From the above scriptures, the wisdom of God is gained by knowing God. God’s wisdom will help you know what is the hope of your calling, what are the riches of his inheritance, and what is the greatness of his power toward you who believe.

Thus, to live carefully is to be wise. To be wise is to know the hope of your calling. To be wise is to know the riches of God’s inheritance in us. To be wise is to know the greatness of God’s power for us. To be wise is to understand this plan of God to bring people to Christ. To be wise is to live your life according to the will of God.

Prayer: Lord, help me live wisely and please you in all respects. Amen.

Walking In Spiritual Liberty 1

John 8:31-32 (KJV) Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free

What perplexed Laide was how some people who were believers and committed to the church were still under demonic yokes and ancestral bondages. For example, her uncle was a minister in a Pentecostal church, but he died mysteriously. It was later rumored in their village that he was killed by some witches who had a connection with his family. These kinds of things were happening.

Laide herself believed in Jesus, but she was not truly free. Her life was a battle. Demons still had power over her.

Jesus told certain Jews who believed in him that if they continued in His word, then they would be His disciples, and then they would know the truth, and the truth will make them free (see John 8:31-32).

These Jews were people who believed in Jesus already, but like Laide, they were not yet free. They were not yet free from the power of sin [and death]; they were not yet free from bondages of the past. Jesus gave them the remedy; He told them to continue in His word. This was how they would become His disciples, and only His disciples can truly know Him (the Truth; the reality). Disciples are those who have been converted from goats to sheep; they are those transformed by the renewing of their mind through the word (Rom 12:2). They are those who obey their Lord in all things.

1 John 2:4 (KJV)
He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.

Go into today desiring to grow in your knowledge of the Lord (2 Peter 3:8). This is the key to true and lasting freedom.

This Gospel of the Kingdom 4

Matthew 5:44 (KJV) But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you.

Before Nneka became a believer in the Lord Jesus, she used to attend prayer vigils and was a faithful follower of a particular prophet with whom she eventually had an immoral relationship. She attended those prayer vigils because she was aware that she had enemies, especially when her business started to 'prosper'.

Her prayers were always that all her enemies would die a painful death. She would imagine them and insist that they die a painful death. She loved her friends and hated her enemies. But when she became a disciple of the Lord Jesus, she didn't see the need to kill her human enemies but felt deep pity for them because she understood how elevated above them she was in Christ Jesus. She rather found that time and time again, she was compelled to pray for them, asking the Lord to have mercy on them and bring them to salvation. Because of this, some of them eventually became saved, but some of them who wouldn't repent saw the severe vengeance and judgment of the Lord.

The true gospel of the kingdom teaches us to love our enemies and pray for them, not kill them with our prayers. We are to do this not because we are overmuch good but because we know how elevated above them we are in Christ, and we understand that God is a better judge of every matter than us.

But today, there is a gospel that teaches believers to hate their enemies and kill them with the power of God at every opportunity. That gospel is not the true gospel of the kingdom, and it is incapable of raising disciples into maturity. If the Lord Jesus had subscribed to that ideology, He would have wiped out the entire human race because of the hatred and ungratefulness that culminated in His crucifixion. There never would have been an apostle Paul because rather than pray for them, Stephen would have used his great spiritual power to place a potent bitter curse on all those who hated him to the point of orchestrating his murder, and Paul was chief among them.

Go into today examining the doctrines that guide your life and compare them with the truth of God's Word.

Prayer: Ask the Lord to deliver you from everything that may be keeping you from the reality and power of the true gospel of the kingdom.

This Gospel of the Kingdom 3

Download the Audio Version Here☞ http://bit.ly/aud2495

Matthew 24:14 (NET) And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached throughout the whole inhabited earth as a testimony to all the nations, and then the end will come.

Because of Nneka's faith in the Lord Jesus, she could not continue in some unrighteous business deals even though those were the deals that made her the most money. She made this bold decision because she understood that nothing was too big to sacrifice for God's kingdom. She understood that the kingdom is real and eternally relevant and she didn’t want anything to hinder her from her inheritance in it.

The true gospel of the kingdom teaches selflessness and sacrifice. Anyone who has truly accepted it would be willing to forsake certain things in order to follow Jesus fruitfully.

But there is a gospel today that purports that there is no need to make any sacrifices and forsake anything because Jesus has already made the needed sacrifice. Even though what they say is true on a particular level, they are absolutely wrong on all other levels. Those who will follow Jesus must be ready to deny themselves, take up their cross, and follow Him (see Luke 9:23). They must be willing to sacrifice fleshly pleasures for kingdom participation and elevation (see Rom 12:1-2, 13:8).

The kingdom of God is like a man who finds a great treasure in a field and goes to sell all he has to buy that field (see the Lord's Parable of the hidden treasure in Matthew 13:44-46).

Go into today remembering that any legitimate thing you forsake for the sake of the Kingdom is a small temporary investment you are converting into a great eternal investment that would bless you for the whole of eternity.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, now that I am born again, help me see your kingdom the way I ought to, and walk in its reality [and power], in Jesus' name. Amen.

This Gospel of the Kingdom 2

Download the Audio Version Here☞ http://bit.ly/aud2494

Matthew 24:14 (NET)And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached throughout the whole inhabited earth as a testimony to all the nations, and then the end will come.

When Nneka accepted the Lord Jesus, she was told that she needed to be baptized in water and in the Holy Spirit. She was taught the importance of water baptism and how it was her final burial and disconnection from the world. She died to the old life through faith in Christ but would be buried through baptism(see Romans 6:4). She was also taught that it was the empowerment of the Holy Spirit through His baptism that would make it possible for her to live a life of perpetual victory over sin and the devil(see Acts 1:8, Rom 8:13).

These teachings and many others made it impossible for Nneka to continue to be unequally yoked together with her unbeliever friends because she was too conscious of the fact that she was now a new creation in Christ. Nneka received the gospel of the kingdom and the evidence of the exchanged life was there for all to see. The true gospel of the kingdom is powerful enough to turn a sinner into a Saint. But too many these days have received a gospel that is not the true gospel.

Today there is a gospel that excludes the teachings about repentance and baptisms and only emphasizes material prosperity. People can attend church for years and never hear that they are to forsake a life of sin and fleshly lusts and walk in the holiness of God.

Go into today remembering that any gospel that forgets to teach young believers to forsake fleshly lusts is not the gospel of the kingdom. Any gospel that teaches grace without emphasizing that grace is not a license for sinning but empowerment to walk above sin is another gospel and not the gospel of the kingdom(see Rom 6:1, Tit 2:11).

Prayer: Ask the Lord to help you walk in the reality and power of the gospel of the kingdom.

Sanctification: The way to lasting deliverance

Download the Audio Version Here☞ http://bit.ly/aud2492
Matthew 12:43-45 (NET)  “When an unclean spirit goes out of a person, it passes through waterless places looking for rest but does not find it. Then it says, ‘I will return to the home I left.’ When it returns, it finds the house empty, swept clean, and put in order. Then it goes and brings with it seven other spirits more evil than itself, and they go in and live there, so the last state of that person is worse than the first. It will be that way for this evil generation as well!”

Debo was a deliverance minister who had cast out several unclean spirits from many people over the years. But he always wondered why in most cases, people who were delivered went back to their bondage, and many of them had to keep coming back to solve bigger problems. Because of his experience, he almost got to the point where he was convinced that it is impossible to get a witch totally delivered and she would stay free.

As Debo studied more of God's word on this matter, he discovered where the problem was with his approach to deliverance. Many of the people in his country were not interested in the word of God. They only wanted prayers that would help them receive breakthrough, Deliverance, healing, etc. This was the reason why many could not sustain their freedom. The only way to sustain spiritual liberty is through the sanctification that comes from the revelation of truth-- God's word.

We see in today's Bible text that when a demon that leaves a person comes back and finds the person empty, it would return with more wicked spirits. What is it that can dwell in a man such that there would be no room for unclean spirits to come back? It is the word of God and the Spirit of God. Jesus says if we abide in Him and His word abides in us, then we will be fruitful. When the words of Christ dwell in us richly, we would be filled with the Spirit and it would be impossible for any unclean spirit to come back (see Colossians 3:16 and Ephesians 5:18-21).

The word of God is living and active, and sharper than any two-edged sword (Hebrews 4:12). No unclean spirit will want to stay where the living sharp word of God dwells richly. Such an environment is dangerous for it.

Go into today remembering that God's word is truth, and in the New Testament, we are sanctified by the [revelation of] truth (John 17:17). The revelation of truth will shape our lives accordingly. It is the knowledge of the truth that guarantees permanent freedom. "And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free"(John 8:32).

Prayer Confession: the Word of Christ dwells in me richly. I walk in spiritual liberty and possess my possessions.

You Can’t Earn God’s Favor

Download the Audio Version Here☞ http://bit.ly/aud2492
Hebrews11:6(KJV) But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

As a young believer, George had been raised on dos and don’ts. All his life he had tried to live by a strict religious code. At church camp that year the leader taught on the theme of our being complete in Christ.  The more he talked on that subject and the more George listened, the more he became aware of the truth of that message. For the first time in his life, George began to realize he didn’t have to work for holiness (wholeness); he was already complete (whole) in his Savior. All he needed to do was to walk according to the nature that he has received. Finally, he broke down in tears, weeping with joy and relief. “I see it; it’s all God’s grace,” he sobbed. “I feel as if a ten-ton weight has been lifted off my back. I don’t have to try to please God anymore; He is already pleased with me. That puts a whole different light on it. Now I want to work for Him rather than have to work for Him.”

The moment he understood grace, peace overwhelmed him. Oh, if only more people could come to that understanding. The faith life is not trying to please God by our action, even our great faith. It’s just living by the principles of the Word He has already provided. Salvation, peace, prosperity, success, health, joy, life in all its fullness and abundance, has already been provided for us by our loving heavenly Father. If that’s so, then we don’t need to try to obtain His blessings by winning His favor. We already have His favor, His grace (John 1:16). It was His grace that moved Him to do all this for us in the first place. We simply need to receive the blessings that accompany His favor.

There is a simple principle involved here. You simply cannot please God by works. There is only one thing that pleases God. We find it spelled out for us in Hebrews 11:6: “But without faith it is impossible to please him.” It’s not difficult to please God by works, it’s impossible. Nothing pleases God but faith in Him.

Am I saying then that works are wrong? No, not at all. Works are fine. We are supposed to work, just as our Lord worked: “But I have greater witness than that of John: for the works which the Father hath given me to finish, the same works that I do, bear witness of me, that the Father hath sent me” (John 5:36). Later in John 14:10 Jesus explained how those works were done: “Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? The words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.”

We remember our Lord told us he who believed in Him would do the same works He did and even greater works. (See John 14:12.) But how? He gave us that answer in John

15:5: “I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.” Fruit (good works) is produced through us not because of anything we are or do of ourselves, but because of the Word that abides in us. Works are produced by the same indwelling Spirit who did the works through Jesus. Works are evidence of God’s favor upon us, not a means to obtain God's favor. We remain in God’s favor by remaining in fellowship with Him and His Word, not by works of might.

Go into today with the understanding that as believers we do work, but not primarily to please God. We work for Him because we know that He is pleased with us.

Serving in Love

Download the Audio Version Here☞ http://bit.ly/aud2491
Galatians 5:13(KJV) ‘’ For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another’’.

“But by love serve one another”. Love seeks to fulfill first the desires of another. In fact, that is the definition of true love. Love is that force within a person causing him to desire someone else’s welfare more than his own. Unless we can honestly say we desire the other person’s happiness more than we desire our own, we shouldn’t flippantly tell that person, “I love you,” especially if that person is God. To love God is to desire His will be done more than we desire our own will. To love others is to desire to see them blessed.

Nothing short of the Spirit of God Himself can empower us to truly love others, to desire their welfare more than our own: “Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends” (John 15:13). We may not be called upon to give our lives for someone else, but we may well have opportunities to give part of our material possessions so someone else may be benefited. That’s when we must be led by the Spirit because our flesh will rebel. The flesh is not capable of such love because by its very nature it is self-centered.

Scientists tell us the drive for self-preservation is one of the strongest of the inborn human traits. It goes against the grain of our human nature, our flesh, to put others first, especially when it means we may suffer loss. That’s why our natural human nature is never able to please God; it’s too centered on self. The only way anyone can be freed from the selfish human nature is by receiving within him a new nature, a new Spirit that is not self-centered but selfless. That Spirit, if heeded, will lead the person in paths of righteousness and truth and blessing.

Learn to heed the Spirit within you. His counsel may not always seem logical, but that’s because it’s not based on human logic but on God’s will. When He says to give away what you desperately need for yourself, don’t be afraid to comply. It may not seem natural, but if it were the “natural thing to do,” it probably wouldn’t be the “God thing to do.” “Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over” (Read Luke 6:38). God rewards obedience to His Spirit. The Spirit of God is the nature of God. And what is God’s nature? John, the beloved apostle, told us “God is love” (1John 4:16).

Therefore to be led by the Spirit of God is to be led by love, the force that puts the other person’s welfare ahead of our own. Christians are under law. We are not under the Mosaic Law, but the law of Christ(Galatians 6:2). There is a difference between being under the Mosaic Law, and being under the law of Christ(love). Law is imposed from the outside, love impresses from the inside. Law compels; love impels. Law is what we do because we have no choice; love is what we must do because we do have a choice. Law is what our bodies are forced to obey; love is what our hearts won’t allow us not to obey.

Go into today knowing that Nothing short of the Spirit of God Himself can empower us to truly love others, to desire their welfare more than our own.

Prayer: Lord, help me walk in your nature of love always. Help me to stay filled with the Spirit this week and beyond. Amen.

By Faith

Download the Audio Version Here☞ http://bit.ly/aud2490

2 Corinthians 4:13 (KJV) We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak

When Deji decided to stand up from the sickbed and begin to say that he was now healed, he didn’t feel healed. As a matter of fact, when he first stood up, he felt so weak that he almost fainted. But he insisted that he was now healed because he had received the word of God concerning his healing, and he believed it(it quickened faith in his heart). This was how he received his healing in his body.

One of the attributes of faith is that faith speaks (Mark 11:23). Faith also acts in accordance with what has been spoken.

This is how to act in faith: When you receive the word of God concerning a situation, believe it totally and speak the word that you have received and now believe. Continue to say the word over your life until you see the manifestation of the things you have believed. Faith never gives up.

One of the reasons I believe the power of life and death is in the tongue is because the tongue is the only part of the body that can declare and proclaim [the word of] faith. The tongue can also be used as an instrument to do the opposite of this.

As you go into today, remember to speak the word of God over your life according to what you believe. Don’t just believe the word, speak the word over your life and expect to see the manifestation of the things you have spoken.

Prayer: Father, help me to believe and speak your word over my life. Help me to see the manifestation of your promises in my life through faith. in Jesus' name. Amen.

Whose Report Will You Believe?

Download the Audio Version Here☞ http://bit.ly/aud2489
Isaiah 53:1 (KJV) Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the LORD revealed?

Paige went for a medical checkup and the doctors gave her a troubling report. After further tests, she was told that one of her kidneys had packed up and the other one would soon pack up. She was put on a special diet and was already being processed to be added to the waiting list for kidney donor recipients.

Paige was so distressed that she started weeping uncontrollably. It looked to her like she was going to die, and her children were still very young. But as she started to meditate on the word of God, she realized that God's report concerning her was health and peace.

She had the doctor's report which was based on facts, and the Lord's report which is based on the truth. This Lord’s report said she was healed by His stripes (see 1 Pet 2:24, Isa 53:5). As soon as she decided to believe and dwell on the Lord’s report, the depression and fear left and her heart became peaceful and joyful just like that of a person told they have been cured of a deadly disease.

Three days later she observed that the symptoms of the illness had left. As she kept on confessing and insisting on the Lord's report concerning her health, she went back for tests a week later and to her joy and to the utter surprise of her physicians, her two kidneys were now working perfectly. “It’s like you've got new kidneys because these are not the kidneys I saw last month”, her doctor said.

From today's Bible verse, we can infer that those who believe the report of the Lord are those to whom the arm of the Lord is stretched. They are those who see the help of the hand of the Lord in their lives.

Go into today remembering that as you insist on believing God's report concerning any area of your life, you will see the manifestation of His power in that area.

prayer: Lord, help me believe only your report concerning me. Amen.

Spiritual Might Produces Understanding

Download the Audio Version Here☞ http://bit.ly/aud2488

Ephesians 3:16-19 (KJV) That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man; That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.

After Gbemi accepted the Lord Jesus, she submitted to discipleship and was connected to Mrs. Anderson by the church's evangelism department. As Mrs. Anderson started to disciple Gbemi and teach her the way of the Lord, she observed that there were so many things Gbemi did not understand, and it appeared as if she could not understand them. Gbemi could not understand why she was to love her enemies, she could not understand God's love for her even though she believed it.

Because Mrs. Anderson had experience in discipling people, she knew that what Gbemi needed the most was prayers. She would spend quality time each day praying for Gbemi, and her major prayer was that the Lord would strengthen her with might in the inner man. Mrs. Anderson understood that strength in the inner man would give Gbemi the ability and capacity for greater faith so that she would be able to be filled with the presence of God in the measure that can transform her and help her understand the kingdom of God.

We all have measures of the indwelling Holy Spirit. The day you accepted the Lord Jesus, you received a measure. The day you got baptized in the Holy Ghost, you received a higher measure. The more the word of Christ dwells in you richly, the more your measure increases (see Colossians 3:16, Ephesians 5:18-20).

As the Lord strengthens you by His Spirit with might in your inner man, this increases your capacity for faith, and thus your capacity to be filled with the fullness of God. It takes spiritual strength to host higher dimensions of the presence, glory, and power of God. Notice that in today's Bible verses, the result of might in the inner man is that Christ dwells in our hearts richly, and the product of this is the ability to comprehend the dimensions of the love of Christ. One of the easily discernible signs that your spiritual strength is increasing is that your level of spiritual understanding would also be increasing. The commandments of the Lord would now be easy for you to obey and no more seem grievous (see 1 John 5:3).

Go into today praying with today's Bible verses. Ask the Lord to strengthen you with might in the inner man by His Spirit so that your capacity to manifest the realities and power of the divine life would be upgraded. Use this time to pray for those who you disciple too.

Confession: I am strengthened by the Holy Spirit with might in my inner man. My capacity to express the glory of God is increasing. Hallelujah!

Possessing Your Possessions

Download the Audio Version Here☞ http://bit.ly/aud2487

2 Corinthians 8:9 (KJV), “For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich."

Ben found today's text interesting because he was from a poor home. He had read this verse so many times that he knew it by heart. Sadly though, his situation did not change; he sometimes had what looked like a “breakthrough" but things returned to the way they were.

Many Christians are like Ben. They have come to put their faith in Jesus Christ and on that basis claimed the blessings on the pages of the scriptures only to be disappointed because although they claimed such promised blessings by faith (the best way they knew faith) those things were not made manifest in their lives.

For this reason, many have resulted in ungodly means such as bribery, cheating, stealing, etc, just to have a "good" living and some have turned away from following God. But what might be wrong? Are the blessings not for all believers?

This devotional will deal with one of the major reasons why many Christians experience this unwanted result.

Obadiah 1:17 (KJV), “But upon mount Zion shall be deliverance, and there shall be holiness; and the house of Jacob shall possess their possessions”.

According to Obadiah, deliverance and holiness are the criteria for possessing one's possessions in God. Deliverance alone will not do it, it has to be deliverance and holiness, it is at the point of holiness that many Christians fail and because they are not living a holy life, they are refused their possessions.

Go into today knowing that faith in Jesus qualifies you for the blessings by bringing you deliverance. However, it is deliverance plus holiness that ensures possessing your possessions.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, help me to live holy all my days.

Called To Show Forth His Praises

Download the Audio Version Here☞ http://bit.ly/aud2486
1 Peter 2:9 (KJV)But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light.

It happened that Every male child in Segun's family was dedicated to a god and this god had the prerogative to choose his next priest from any of the male children in the family. If anyone was chosen, he could never marry, he must serve the god as a priest all his life.

Segun was chosen by this god the day he was named, however, before Segun grew to the age of accountability, his father encountered some missionaries and believed in the Lord Jesus. It was after this that his name was changed to Oluwasegun, meaning our Lord has conquered. Shortly after this, the high priest of this god came demanding for Segun claiming that he had to start training.

Segun’s father refused to hand over his son to the priest even when the king and the community tried to persuade him. He insisted that he and his house now belongs to Jesus. The priest cursed him and his family saying they will not live to see the next market day. To everyone’s surprise, the priest died before the said market day. Segun and his family didn’t die, the whole community then congregated at their compound begging that they show them what they have that saved them from the god and its priest.

As believers, we are called to show, reveal or make known the praises of God. One way to do this is by putting an end to the ungodly patterns in our families and communities. Our lives as children of God must reveal the power of God. If we must do this, we must know, believe and dwell in our position in Christ Jesus.

Go into today knowing that all things have been put under the feet of Jesus and that He is your head, see Ephesians 1:21. Since Christ is your head, all things including principalities and powers are now under your feet.

Pray this way: because I have Jesus as my head, every power working against me and my family comes under my feet now in Jesus. I am more than a conqueror through Christ Jesus. Amen.

The Surpassing Righteousness

Download the Audio Version Here☞ http://bit.ly/aud2485
Matthew 5:20 (NET) For I tell you, unless your righteousness goes beyond that of the experts in the law and the Pharisees, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.

Deryl wanted to live a life that pleases God. He understood that if a man walked righteously in the fear of the Lord, he would be pleasing to the Lord. He tried to live a holy sanctified life and avoided all appearances of evil. But in his heart, he knew that something was still wrong. He was not walking in the reality and power of the kingdom of heaven.

After several months of trying his best and inquiring what could be wrong, he had a dream that made him realize that he had little faith. He trusted more in his ability to obey God than in the faithfulness of Jesus to preserve him from falling. He was always afraid of failing because of this.

The Pharisees were one of the strictest sects of the then-Jewish religious world. They were very particular about their understanding and adherence to the law of God. As far as conditioning your flesh and mind to obey the requirements of the law of God was concerned, the Pharisees were at the top of the ladder. But their righteousness was based on trust in themselves to obey God, so it was floored. They had so disciplined themselves over so many years that they could muzzle their flesh and put it in subjection to their will which had been trained to obey God's law, but they had no way of dealing with the sinful nature of the heart.

Walking in holiness without understanding faith is a fruitless mission. In order for a believer to truly walk in God's holiness and reap the fruit of God's power, he must be grounded in faith. Righteousness by faith is always superior to righteousness by works [which is depending on one's ability to obey God]. If you stop depending on your ability and start trusting in the Lord Jesus as the reason why you will not fail, your faith will produce such true righteousness from within that the righteousness of the pharisee doesn’t even come close to.

Go into today remembering to trust in the faithfulness of Jesus as the reason why you will not fall.

Confession: I belong to Jesus and I obey Him. He is the reason why I will not fall but inherit The Kingdom at last.

The Word Sanctifies

Download the Audio Version Here☞ http://bit.ly/aud2484

John 17:17 (KJV)Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.

Fabian: Pastor, I don’t think I can ever be holy like you. I have been bad all my life. I have never loved anyone. My heart is full of immorality and I can’t help it. I am selfish, that’s how I’ve been for as long as I can remember. I don’t know how to make myself become holy.

Pastor: you are not the one who will sanctify yourself, God is the one who will sanctify you and make you holy. He sanctifies you through His truth.

The reason why you were unholy is that there are many things you believe that are not true; they are not God’s truth. As soon as you begin to believe and walk in God’s truth, it will sanctify you and make you Holy. God’s word is truth.

Fabian: I do not understand, sir.

Pastor: for example, one of the reasons you have not been able to conquer sin is because you believe it is impossible for you to conquer sin. Even though that was your reality as an unbeliever, now that you have received Christ, God’s truth is that you have power over sin. If you believe this truth, you will see the manifestation of this power in your life.

The more you align with God’s truth, the more holy you become. The way God sanctifies us is by His truth. His word is truth, it washes us from our filthiness and makes us clean.

Go into today knowing that the way to walk in holiness is not by depending on new rules, it is by feeding your spirit aggressively with the word of God. The Word changes the way you think and changes the way you behave.

Prayer: Father, sanctify me by your truth. Amen.

Defilement of Flesh

Download the Audio Version Here☞ http://bit.ly/aud2483

2 Corinthians 7:1 (KJV) Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

When Lanre was an unbeliever, he had very ungodly friends who were very immoral. After Lanre received the Lord Jesus, he found it difficult to leave his friends because they were really close. But one thing Lanre noticed was that each time he spent time with them, he would feel filthy inside. It would be as if he was so dirty and he needed a bath.

In the old Testament, defilement of flesh was caused by contact with unclean things, a dead body, the temple of idols or things dedicated to idols, etc. An unclean person was not permitted to enter the temple of God or worship God until he has gone through the purification process which would usually involve the washing of water.

Today in the new Testament, defilement of flesh is possible(today's scripture makes that clear). One thing that causes defilement of flesh is when a believer fellowships with unbelievers. Just like a believer’s body is the temple of the living God, an unbeliever is the temple of the god of this world. Anyone whose life is ruled by lust, greed, and pride is subjected to the prince of this world. When a person who has been cleansed and sanctified communes with a person who is a temple of idols, he would experience defilement of flesh because of physical fellowship with an unclean temple, even if they don't do or say anything sinful. Also, all forms of sexual experience outside marriage(between a male man and a female woman) produces defilement of flesh. It is only the marriage bed that provides immunity from defilement when there is a sexual experience (Hebrews 13:4). Defilement of flesh ultimately leads to defilement of spirit.

Go into today thanking the Lord for sanctifying you by His precious blood.

Prayer: Ask that the Lord would help you never to go back to the things that defile.
