1 Corinthians 1:15-17 (NKJV) Lest anyone should say that I had baptized in my own name. Yes, I also baptized the household of Stephanas. Besides, I do not know whether I baptized any other. For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel, not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of no effect.

I once had a conversation with a man who was trying to convince me that water baptism was not necessary for Christians. He said that when Jesus told His disciples to preach and baptize, He was not referring to water baptism but to the baptism in the Holy Spirit. Now, that is not true because we see in the Bible that all who believed were baptized in water.

In mentioning the principles of the doctrine of Christ, Hebrews 6:2 mentions "baptisms" and not "baptism" because the believer does not just have one baptism.

Most people who claim that water baptism is not necessary usually quote today’s verses and say that if water baptism was necessary, why didn’t God instruct Paul to baptize as well?

My answer has always been: because God sent other people to baptize and disciple the people Paul preached to. That's why Paul said: 'I have planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the increase' (1 Cor 3:16). After Apostle Paul preached to a group of people, he would move on to another group, while leaving people with them who would baptize, disciple, and pastor them.

Does this mean that if a person is not baptized he will go to hell? No, escaping hell is not the only reason for which we are saved. Through baptism, we die to our old life of sin and are resurrected to the new life of Christ (see Rom 6:3-4). living a life free

Go into today knowing that the baptisms were given by God to empower us to live the victorious life that brings Him glory and garners our eternal rewards.

1 Corinthians 1:12-14 (NET) Now I mean this, that each of you is saying, “I am with Paul,” or “I am with Apollos,” or “I am with Cephas,” or “I am with Christ.” Is Christ divided? Paul wasn’t crucified for you, was he? Or were you in fact baptized in the name of Paul? I thank God that I did not baptize any of you except Crispus and Gaius
Further Reading: Acts 18:1-19

A certain missionary took the gospel to a community. He didn’t meet opposition, but he observed that people were not responding to his message because there was a certain mystical ‘prophet’ in that community that the people followed. This prophet was not saved but was one who walked in the way of Balaam.

The missionary preached and preached and many were convicted but did not come forward to receive and confess The Lord Jesus. After the missionary labored in that community for weeks, the mystical ‘prophet’ was convicted and accepted the Lord Jesus and was baptized. When the people in the community heard that their ‘prophet’ had accepted the gospel and was baptized, many of them too believed in Jesus and were baptized.

When Paul first took the gospel to Corinth, he stayed there for 18 months, and many of the people in the city believed and were baptized after Crispus the leader of the synagogue believed (see Acts 18:8). Apart from Crispus and some other few people who were Paul’s first converts, Paul did not baptize but only preached. Others did the baptizing.

This was Paul's biggest point when he rebuked the Corinthians for their divisions. He did not baptize many of them so they couldn't claim that he baptized them in his name. Since they were all baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus, the only name that should be their tag should be Christ, not Paul, Peter or Apollos.

Go into today remembering that to be denominationally minded is a sign of spiritual immaturity (see 1 Cor 3:1-3). Ask the Lord to break the walls of separation that are hindering the prosperity of the gospel. Ask the Lord to arrest and save every Crispus in our community whose salvation will open the door for others to be saved.

Love Unconditionally

šŸŽ§Download Today's Audio Devotional & Bible Reading Here☞ https://bit.ly/aud2542

Matthew 24:12 (KJV)And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.
Tade was cheated time and time again by fake believers who sought to take advantage of his brotherly love and devotion to the body. It got to the point he now found it hard to love people who claimed to be brethren. He didn’t know that the enemy’s game plan was to make his love wax cold and quench his faith.

You see, it is the same heart with which you love the Lord that you also love His brethren. If your heart has taken up the attribute of love for the Lord, it will be impossible for you not to love His brethren and even other people created in His image. Walking in this kind of love is a product of faith in your heart, for faith working through love is the fruit of the renewed heart. Waning love ultimately leads to an eroding away of the faith in your heart. The victory that overcomes the world comes because of your faith (1 John 5:4).

The prince of this world tries to steal your faith by proliferating iniquity in the world. He knows that if your love [for the brethren and for other people created in the image of God] waxes cold, your faith will also wax cold, and you will no more be able to be an overcomer and overcome him .

The Lord has forewarned us that the love of many will wax cold because iniquity will abound. One reason He gives us this warning is because He does not want you to be among the ‘many’ whose love waxes cold.

Go into today remembering that you have been given the grace to walk in the divine nature. This nature is one that loves unconditionally.
Prayer: Ask the Lord to help you love unconditionally.

1 Corinthians 1:8-9 (NET) He will also strengthen you to the end, so that you will be blameless on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is faithful, by whom you were called into fellowship with his son, Jesus Christ our Lord.

Chinedu had led a lot of people to the Lord. But he observed that a number of them that were no longer with him got entangled in the world again. He went to a certain city and met one of them who was even a fellowship leader when they were together on campus. He was shocked to see that this brother was now living with his girlfriend in sin and shame. He could not understand how someone who was once so close to the Lord could fall so far from grace. He was now deeply concerned about his other disciples who were no more in direct contact with him.

Apostle Paul also had this concern for many of the people who had come to the Lord through him. He knew that there were wolves in sheep's clothing who would seek to mislead and devour them (see Acts 20:29). At a time, he wrote to the Thessalonians and said he really wanted to get in touch with them because he didn’t want his labor with them to be in vain (1 Thess 3:5).

As a person who’s had the privilege of leading people to the Lord, I understand the burden and concern Apostle Paul had for his disciples. Even the Lord Jesus had this same concern for His disciples when He prayed for them and asked the Father to preserve them from the evil one (see John 17:15).

Go into today knowing that Just like Jesus handed over His disciples to the care of The Father, we too are to hand over our disciples to the Lord and be rest assured that he would strengthen them to the end. We do this by constantly praying for them and asking the Lord to preserve them.

James 5:16 (NLT)Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results.

Damola was very sick. He prayed about it but the sickness didn’t go away. He would normally pray in the spirit for a while if he felt the symptoms of any sickness and it would leave. He had lived like this in God’s divine health without using any drugs for years.

But this time around, he prayed and prayed, and the symptoms of the sickness did not go away. He confessed the word of God and did every other thing he knew to do. He even saw a doctor and used drugs, but he was still sick and even getting weaker. He later decided to call his pastor to pray for him and lay hands on him. While he was talking with his pastor, he saw the need to confess a sin that had kept him in guilt for some time.

After confessing the sin to his pastor, for the first time in months, his conscience was now clear before God like it used to be. He started recovering the next day.

Christians who walk in grace through constant fellowship with the Lord God also walk in divine health. Unknown to Damola, the hidden guilt in his heart was the reason why the grace of God [for divine health] was no more flowing in his life.

The source of our grace is our fellowship with the Lord God. Nothing hinders this fellowship like a guilty conscience.

Go into today remembering that the source of your healing and good health is your constant fellowship with the Lord. This fellowship supplies the grace we need for life and godliness.

Prayer: Ask the Lord to help you walk in closer fellowship with Him from today.

1 Corinthians 1:4-5 (DARBY) I thank my God always about you, in respect of the grace of God given to you in Christ Jesus; that in everything ye have been enriched in him, in all word [of doctrine], and all knowledge

Amaka suffered from demonic afflictions and fear even though she was a believer. Her Pastor had prayed for her and ministered deliverance to her several times, but the issues kept coming back. Her pastor knew that the only way she could be permanently free was if she received her freedom through the knowledge of the Truth (see John 8:32, John 14:16, John 8:36). Because of this, her pastor gave her books and sermons to listen to, but she wouldn’t read the books nor listen to the sermons.

She became totally free when she heeded her pastor's advice and started reading faith-building books and paying attention to increasing her faith through the ministry of the word.

I have seen Christians who are very careful with their conduct suffer demonic affliction and defeat, and I have seen Christians who like the Corinthians, are not as careful with their conduct. Still, they enjoy spiritual liberty and are enriched through grace because they have been properly taught and grounded in the word of faith. God neither wants us to live carelessly nor does He want us to suffer unnecessary affliction. But many times, His people suffer because of a lack of knowledge (Hosea 4:6). This knowledge is the knowledge of His word-- Truth.

Go into today remembering that prayers are vital and indispensable to spiritual growth, but so is the knowledge of the truth (which is God’s word). Prayer is like a gun and the word is like the bullets. You need to get your gun properly loaded. Every believer needs to have the patience to settle down and learn the doctrine of Christ properly.

Heavenly Father, please give me the appetite to settle down and learn the things I need to know about this walk of faith. Please deliver me from distractions and help me focus on your will for me. Amen.

Enriched In All Things

1 Corinthians 1:4-5 (DARBY) I thank my God always about you, in respect of the grace of God given to you in Christ Jesus; that in everything ye have been enriched in him, in all word [of doctrine], and all knowledge

The church in Corinth was indeed enriched in all things. Concerning spiritual gifts, they were not lacking in any and were behind no one (1 Cor 1:7). They had abundant demonstrations of the power of God in their midst, and because of this, they enjoyed great growth and admiration from the people of the city. Concerning physical and material prosperity, they had become rich through the power of grace (see 1 Cor 4:8). These Paul acknowledged and was glad for, but was concerned for them not to be carried away by these and ignore the weightier matters of the kingdom.

The secret of the Corinthian church’s enrichment was their enrichment in doctrine and knowledge, and Apostle Paul pointed this out (see 1 Corinthians 1:4-5). They had skilled teachers like Apollos, and because of them, they were enriched in doctrine and knew how to appropriate the riches of Christ through faith. For faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God (Rom 10:17).

Whenever you see Christians who are walking in the grace and the manifestation of the riches and liberty of Christ, it is always because they have been properly taught in that regard. Christians who are not given to doctrine and learning are usually impoverished, oppressed, and wanting in many things. This is not the will of God.

Go into today remembering that Christians are disciples and disciples are students. We are students of the Word, and we never graduate from the school of the Spirit.
Prayer: Ask the Lord to help you give yourself to the ministry of the word and to prayer (see Acts 6:4).

Grace & Peace

šŸŽ§Download Today's Audio Devotional & Bible Reading Here☞ http://bit.ly/aud1618

1 Corinthians 1:3 (NET) Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ!

A certain missionary took the gospel to a West African village. The first household he visited greeted him warmly and offered him some food and water because they perceived he was coming from a far journey. He told them the reason why he came to their village and shared the gospel with them. They knew there was something glorious about him, so their father wanted him to stay with them in their house. Everyone in that household eventually accepted the Lord Jesus and became born again. They later observed that since the time the missionary stayed in their house, everything started going well with them. Their farm became unusually fruitful, and their livestock became very productive. They also observed that their sickly children were now healthy and strong. All these good things happened to them because of the peace of Christ that rested upon their household through the missionary.

Jesus told his disciples that if they went preaching and found a home deserving, they should let their peace rest upon that home, but if the home is not deserving, they should let their peace return to them (see Matt 10:13).

In the world today, peace is understood to be the absence of war. But the peace that Jesus gives is far more than that (John 14:27). It is a spiritual force that causes everything to work properly. It is spiritual empowerment that ensures well-being, health, and prosperity. It has the ability to garrison the soul of a person against anxiety and fears (see Phil 4:7).

It is worthy of note that Grace was mentioned before peace in Paul’s salutation to the Corinthians. This is because peace is made available because of grace. It is unmerited and has been fully paid for by Christ Jesus.

Go into today asking the Lord to fill your life with His peace.

Called to be Saints

šŸŽ§Download Today's Audio Devotional & Bible Reading Here☞ http://bit.ly/aud1617

1 Corinthians 1:1-2 (NKJV)Paul, called to be an apostle of Jesus Christ through the will of God, and Sosthenes our brother, To the church of God which is at Corinth, to those who are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all who in every place call on the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both theirs and ours

The book of 1 Corinthians is a letter written by Paul to the church in Corinth. It was most likely dictated by Paul but written down by Sosthenes. Sosthenes was once the ruler of the synagogue in Corinth (Acts 18:17) and was most likely an important facilitator in Paul’s apostolic ministry to the Corinthians.

Corinth was a major city in the southern part of Greece. Paul took the gospel to them as an apostle of the Lord Jesus. Many believed and became part of the church, but like many churches, they had their peculiar issues and temptations. Paul wrote this letter to them to encourage them and address some of these issues.

Notice that in 1 Cor 1:2, Paul refers to the Christians in Corinth as those who are sanctified in Christ Jesus and called to be saints. In the world today, people believe that saints are holy people who represented God well in their generation. Well, that is what we all have been called to become in the New Testament Church. It is important that we know this and believe that we are those called, sanctified, and empowered to be living witnesses of our Lord Jesus, set free from the corruption of this world, and whose lives radiate the supernatural [miracle working] power of God.

Go into today thanking God for calling you.
Prayer: ask that God will empower you to live the life that bears witness to His power and glory.

You Will Still See His Favor

Download Today's Audio here☞ http://bit.ly/audio1252

Psalms 27:13 (NET) Where would I be if I did not believe I would experience the Lord’s favor in the land of the living?

Edet went through a season in his life that looked like it wouldn’t end. It was as if the heavens were closed against him and everything was working against him. He prayed, fasted, prophesied, and did everything he knew to do. But that season came to pass in the fullness of time.

Looking back at that time in his life, he realized that the reason his faith did not fail was because of a small but steady and consistent knowing in his heart that he would still see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. This knowing kept him from sinking and fainting. He indeed lived to see the goodness of the Lord.

God's word to someone today is that you will soon see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Things will not always continue the way they have been but you will see good things from the Lord that will make you glad and rejoice. The Lord will prepare a table before you in the presence of your enemies, and you will experience an overflow of His blessings in every area of your life.

Go into today knowing that God who saved David from the jaws of death and made him king over Israel is the same God you worship. He will bring you into the greater days of your life if you continue to rely on Him in confidence (see Psa 27:13-14).

Prayer: Thank God because He is the one who lifts you up in His time. Thank Him because you know that when He blesses, no one can curse.

What is your Focus

Download Today's Audio here☞ http://bit.ly/aud2234

1 Timothy 6:9-10 (NET) Those who long to be rich, however, stumble into temptation and a trap and many senseless and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is the root of all evils. Some people in reaching for it have strayed from the faith and stabbed themselves with many pains.

When the Lord appeared to King Solomon and told him to ask for anything he desired, the Lord was pleased that his biggest desire was not riches, long life, or the death of his enemies, etc. His biggest wish was that he would be equipped to fulfill his divine assignment on the earth. He asked for the one thing he needed the most in order for him to fulfill God's kingdom assignment for him as the leader of God's people. Even though Solomon did not ask for riches, God decided to bless him and make him the wealthiest king of his generation (see 2 Chronicles 1:7-13).

The way God created us as humans, we have binocular vision. We do not have the ability to focus our eyes on more than one thing at the same time. If we must see a thing properly, we would have to focus on it and it alone. Even spiritually, we have the same makeup. We cannot focus on more than one heart pursuit for our lives. As believers, our only focus should be the kingdom of God (Matthew 6:36). We do not have the ability to love God and love mammon at the same time (see Matthew 6:24).

If a believer's goal in life is to be rich, that believer has already been deceived by the prince of this world. Our goal in life as believers should be to be found in the center of God's will and pleasing Him in all things. As for the matter of our needs, God is able to supply them (see Phil 4:19). Even when money fails, God is still able to meet the needs of those who are in the center of His will.

For some, because of the nature of their assignment, God will cause a lot of many to pass through their hands, but their lives are not defined by that but by how yielded they are to God. Many have strayed from the faith because they were deceived into believing that making money is the ultimate thing in life(see Luke 12:15). A day is coming when we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ (2 Cor 5:10), and what will matter then would be our stewardship not our worldly wealth. Even those the Lord gave worldly wealth as stewardship would have to give an account of how they used it for the kingdom agenda.

Go into today remembering that you have been called to inherit God's eternal kingdom(Luke 12:32), worldly wealth and power is the best the devil has to temp you out of that glorious destiny (see Matthew 4:8-10). Don't let that happen.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, please help me keep my mind stayed on thee and thee alone(see Isiah 26:3). In Jesus' name. Amen.

Ordained Unto Good Works

šŸŽ§Download Today's Audio Devotional & Bible Reading Here☞ http://bit.ly/aud2795

Ephesians 2:10 (KJV)  For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

After Ben got baptized in the Holy Spirit and started enjoying the fellowship of the Spirit, it didn't take long for him to discover that his life was scripted [in heaven] and there were good works written for him to accomplish. He was so glad to realize that his life was not an accident after all; that God knew everything about his life and had a plan for him even before he was born.

Ben was born out of wedlock. His mother didn't want him and his father denied him. He was reluctantly raised by his mother's aunt who had to take his mother and him in when her sister(Ben's grandma) died in the midst of the trauma and stress of dealing with the fact that her only child got pregnant as a teenager and contracted AIDS. Ben grew up with a sense of rejection. He believed that his birth and life were a big mistake. His mother had died of aids when he was a baby but he was lucky not to have contracted the virus. He sometimes wished he had contracted the virus and died as a baby too. But that all changed when he started fellowshipping with God through the Holy Spirit and realizing that he was God's masterpiece created for good works. Knowing the Lord Jesus and discovering that even though his physical birth may have been unplanned, his [Spiritual] birth into God's kingdom was well planned and orchestrated, Ben found joy and peace in his relationship with the Lord.

One of the essential things that being baptized in the Holy Spirit should do to every believer is that it will reveal God's visions concerning us. "....[Y]our young men shall see visions and your old men shall dream dreams"(see Acts 2:17). The outpouring of the Holy Spirit brings us into alignment with God's visions and plans for us. The Holy Spirit is the one who energizes us to actualize and fulfill the good works God has before ordained for us to walk in.

Go into today remembering that God has a plan for you and that plan is good. Never forget that life here on earth is about finding and fulfilling God's grand plans for you.

Receiving Through His Promises 2

šŸŽ§Audio Devotional & Bible here☞ http://bit.ly/audio1249

2 Pet 1:4 (NLT) And because of his glory and excellence, he has given us great and precious promises. These are the promises that enable you to share his divine nature and escape the world's corruption caused by human desires.

Femi noticed that Dare was not growing spiritually, and he wondered why this was happening. They used to pray together and had many things in common. He later noticed that Dare was not very interested in the word of God, he was more interested in reading motivational books than reading and meditating on God’s word. He hardly read spiritual books, and he was never really dedicated to reading his Bible.

It is because of God’s great promises that we can become partakers of His divine nature. Christians who know these promises are more likely to walk in the divine nature than Christians who do not know these promises. We know God’s promises by hearing and meditating on His word. God’s word brings light into the dark places of our lives and empowers us to walk in His holiness (see Psa 119: 105, 9).

What makes your body grow is the food you eat. What makes your spirit grow is the word of God you receive and understand (see Matt 4:4).

Go into today remembering that spiritual growth never ends for the believer. You must continue to grow into the fullness of Christ and remain productive. One way this happens is as you feed your soul with the word of God and align with its righteousness each time you notice misalignment.

Prayer: Ask the Lord to help you grow into the fullness of the stature of Christ.

The Humility of Christ

šŸŽ§Today's Audio Devotional & Bible here☞ http://bit.ly/aud2794

Philippians 2:5-8 (NET) You should have the same attitude toward one another that Christ Jesus had, who though he existed in the form of God did not regard equality with God as something to be grasped, but emptied himself by taking on the form of a slave, by looking like other men, and by sharing in human nature. He humbled himself, by becoming obedient to the point of death – even death on a cross!

While studying the subject of humility and seeing that it is the strongest attribute of the nature of Christ pointed out in scripture(see Matthew 11:29, Philippians 2:5-8), I was wondering and asked the Lord why so much emphasis on the subject of humility? I didn't ask long before I remembered that pride was the one thing that turned the angel Lucifer into Satan. Pride entered his heart and iniquity was found in him (Ezekiel 28:14, 15, 17).

One of the biggest roots of iniquity is pride. The opposite of pride is humility. As powerful as God is, He is humble. We are to be like God not like the devil (see 1 Peter 1:16).

Pride is a root of iniquity. God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble (1 Peter 5:5-6). Anyone who walks in pride will walk under the resistance of heaven. That's a bad place to be.

Do you want to live under the dew of heaven? Do you want your prayers answered before you even utter them? Then be truly humble. I Believe one reason Moses had so much power with God was that he was the most humble man on earth during his day (see Numbers 12:3).

Go into today determining to be like Jesus in your heart. The strongest attribute of the nature of Christ is humility.

Prayer: Resist all forms of pride and ask the Lord for grace to be more humble and gentle (see Ephesians 4:2).

Inherited Righteousness

šŸŽ§Audio Devotional & Bible here☞ http://bit.ly/aud2793

Romans 5:18 (NET) Consequently, just as condemnation for all people came through one transgression, so too through the one righteous act came righteousness leading to life for all people.

Keneth got himself entangled with certain teachers who taught strange things. They taught him that his conduct as a young man didn't matter much before God because God deals with him based on the righteousness of Christ, so his conduct didn't matter. They quoted the Bible verse above to buttress their point.
As a result of these doctrines, Kenneth sunk deeper and deeper into uniquity and made many mistakes that he lived to regret years later. The Lord restored him when he started reading Streamglobe Devotional (Actual Name changed).

All human beings were made sinners because of the sin of the one man Adam. It is on that same basis that all who believe in Christ will be made righteousness by the righteousness of Christ the last Adam.
Now, even though all were made sinners because of the sin of Adam, the basis of God's judgment on every individual person would be his individual actions (see Ecclesiastes 12:14). Before God, sinners are judged for their own sins, not for the sin of Adam. What Adam's sin did was to open the door of sin to mankind, such that the sinful nature became our nature by default.
But for those who believe in Christ, His righteousness opens the doors of eternal righteousness and holiness to us, such that if any man is in Christ, sin would not have dominion over him.

Sin entered the world because of Adam's sin, but individuals will be judged and condemned because of their own sins they have committed. Believers in Christ Jesus become righteous because of Christ's righteousness, but people will be rewarded and elevated in God's kingdom because of their obedience and service in [the doing of] righteousness (see 1 Cor 3:13-15, Mat 16:27, Rev 22:12).

Go into today remembering that you have received the righteousness of the Lord Jesus because of your faith in Him. It is as you walk out this righteousness that you would grow and not die spiritually. Walking again in the old sinful nature produces spiritual death (see Rom 8:13).

Heavenly Father, please help me work out my salvation with fear and trembling. Help me please you in all things and be fruitful in every good work, In Jesus' name. Amen

Learning From Christ- Humility

Audio version here: bit.ly/aud1987
Matthew 11:29 (NET)Take my yoke on you and learn from me, because I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.

There was a time in my life that I wasn't seeing the need or importance of the discipline of fasting in my walk with the Lord. Many of the reasons people gave for fasting weren't adding up for me.

But I had a conversation with a friend who had just been listening to some sermons by Derek Prince. He promptly informed me that he just learned that fasting is so powerful because it is one of the most effective ways people humble themselves before God.

At that point it clicked, God gives grace(power) to the humble (see1 Peter 5:5-6, James 4:6-7). That's the reason why when people fast, they can increase in spiritual power. That's the reason why fasting is so powerful and such an effective discipline in seeking the face of God.

(See Psalm 49:12) When man fell and became like one of the other animals (to the extent that many call themselves a higher animal), the only way God could redeem man and bring him back to his original place of glory was to become like one of us. It was the sacrifice of a man that was required to fulfill the claims of divine justice, but there was no man qualified to be that sacrifice because all have sinned as a result of the seed of Adam (see Rom 3:23). So Jesus came with the seed of the spirit of God as the first new creation man. He came without the Adamic sinful seed and was qualified to take away the sin of the whole world.

But in order for this to happen, He, being the second person of the Godhead, had to strip Himself of all His glory and become a humble man who would be killed by His creatures.

Such humility is unparalleled, and the glory such humility invokes is also unparalleled (see Philippians 2:7-11).

Go into today remembering that it is to the humble that God gives grace. Do you want to walk in great grace like our Lord Jesus? Then let Him be your example in humility. Do everything to help keep your heart in a humble state.

Prayer: Lord, deliver me from every root of pride and help me to be perfectly humble and gentle. Amen.

Receiving Through His Promises

šŸŽ§Audio Devotional & Bible here☞ http://bit.ly/aud2792
2 Corinthians 1:20 (ESV)For all the promises of God find their Yes in [Christ]. That is why it is through him that we utter our Amen to God for his glory.

Jade had a problem that made her pray and cry almost every night. One day she was listening to the word of God, she heard a promise that spoke directly about her problem, she was first excited, but she later said "this promise only applied to the Hebrew women and not to me". She didn’t realize that the promises of God are actually more real in Christ than they were in the old covenant. When she knew that the promise she heard on the radio was actually meant for her because she was in Christ, she claimed and received her miracle.
It is the same God that Abraham and the other patriarchs of the faith worshiped that we worship. But we can even have a closer relationship with Him through Christ Jesus.

God’s word is the most powerful force in the whole universe. When God releases His word in the form of promises, if you believe them and receive them in Christ's name with thanksgiving, they will be fulfilled in your life just as you have believed.

Go into today remembering that being in Christ is superior to being a Jew. All the promises of God (even the ones that the Jews could not receive) can be received by you through Christ Jesus. Let your prayers take root in the word and promises of God. This is the most effective way to pray and receive from God.

Prayer: Ask the Lord to help you know and claim all His promises for you.

Those who trust in the Lord

šŸŽ§Audio Devotional & Bible here☞ http://bit.ly/aud1244
Psalm 34:10 (NLT)Even strong young lions sometimes go hungry, but those who trust in the LORD will lack no good thing.

Strong lions represent the strong in this world, they represent those who people revere and look up to when it comes to the things of this world. They are the ones who will be the last to be hungry even when there is farmine.

The word of God to you today is that even when strong lions are hungry and suffer lack, you will not lack any good thing if you trust in the Lord. The Lord shall provide your every need according to His riches in glory (see Phil 4:19). You will live in divine health and not be afflicted like the people of this world.

Strong lions of this world have their needs met according to the economy, but your own needs will be met according to the riches of heaven. The riches of heaven have never experienced a recession, there are diseases the riches of this world cannot cure, but there is no disease the riches of heaven cannot cure. It is always increasing. Of the increase of Christ's government and peace, there shall be no end (Isiah 9:7). This means you will only know promotion and never demotion as you keep your heart stayed on the Lord in trust because His ever-increasing government is your source of supply.

Go into today remembering that all of God's promises have been fulfilled in Christ with a resounding "Yes!" And through Christ, our "Amen" (which means "Yes") ascends to God for his glory(2 Cor 1:20). You receive these great things from God because of Christ, not because of you. The key is faith in Christ alone.

Prayer: Lord, Help me to believe your word concerning my life and trust in you always. Amen.

When Men Slept

Download Today's Audio here☞ http://bit.ly/aud2791

Matthew 13:25 (KJV) But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way.

After Joel stocked his new fish ponds with fingerlings, he would come every morning and evening to feed them and sometimes just stand admiring how the little creatures feared. After some months when the time of harvest was near, Joel woke up as usual and went to the ponds to feed the fish, but to his shock, more than two-thirds of the fish were missing-- someone had stolen them. The thief came in the night while Joel slept. It was after this sad incidence that Joel employed a guard.

You see, the devil is a thief (see John 10:10), he achieves this by taking advantage of the weakness or weak moment of the one from whom he steals. One of such moments is described as ‘when men slept’.

Jesus in Matthew 24:43 (KJV) says that, if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up.

So, the way to keep the thief away is to keep watch. How then do we watch?

Matthew 26:38 KJV, ‘Then saith he unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death: tarry ye here, and watch with me.’

According to Jesus in the passage above, to watch means to pray. And someone may say, how can I pray when I am weak?

Mark 14:38 (KJV) says, ‘Watch ye and pray, lest ye enter into temptation. The spirit truly is ready, but the flesh is weak.’

It is whenever you don’t feel like praying that you need prayer the most, because, not feeling like praying is a temptation, and the way to overcome it is to pray.

Go into today knowing that when you keep watching, you keep the thief away.

Pray like this: Father, I receive the spirit of grace and prayer, and with discipline and the help of the Holy Spirit, I keep the enemy away from my life in Jesus' name.

God Wants All People Saved

Audio version with Bible here: bit.ly/aud1242
1 Timothy 2:4 (NET) … [God] wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.
Emeka had prayed for the salvation of his brothers for years, but it appeared that things were getting worse and not better. A time came that he started to entertain the false thought that maybe his brothers were not saved because they were never selected by God for salvation. This thought in his heart weakened his faith and made his prayer for his brothers less powerful.

When he knew that it was God's will for them to be saved, his supplications for them became more powerful and regular, and he started seeing the result. All his brothers eventually became saved.

I have come to learn that the most powerful kind of prayer regarding the salvation of others is the prayer of supplication. Another word for supplication is begging. When it comes to the will and choice of other people, your declarations and demands may not be very effective, but your plea before the throne of God for them is very effective. Only God has the authority to influence the will of people, and we have to make sufficient supplications before His throne to make this happen. If we begin to entertain the false thought that maybe God has not selected a person to be saved, it weakens our faith in prayer for that person’s salvation.

Go into today knowing that one of the reasons God placed you in your family is because He wants you to pray and generate sufficient spiritual license for Him to invade the other members of your family with His salvation.

Prayer: Lord, please help me do my part in facilitating the salvation of my loved ones. Amen.

Christ Dwells In You

Download Today's Audio here☞ http://bit.ly/aud2790

Ephesians 3:17 (NET) that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith...

Lisa and Samuel were members of the same family. They both believed in the Lord Jesus on the same day, but Lisa wasn't growing as rapidly as Samuel. In a few weeks, Samuel was already talking about hearing from the Lord, and as events unfolded, it was clear that Samuel truly hears from the Lord.

When Lisa could not take it anymore she started asking questions as to why Samuel grew so fast in his knowledge of God and not her. One thing became immediately clear through her inquiry: Samuel was told by his discipler that Christ now dwells in him, and he believed it. Because of his faith, that became his experience. Lisa on the other hand was not told any such thing by her discipler. She was made to believe that Christ would dwell in her after she meets certain requirements.

From today's Bible verse, we see that Christ dwells in our hearts by faith. In order to experience the reality of Christ dwelling in your heart, you need to first believe it [be convinced about it and have corresponding expectations]. Because you have accepted Christ as your Lord, you are entitled to His indwelling presence. But in order for this to happen, you have to believe it first.

Believe that because Christ is now your Lord and Master, he now dwells within you. This is not because of what you can do, it is fully sponsored by His grace.

Go into today remembering that Christ wants to dwell in you more than you want Him to. The missing link is usually faith. It is necessary for you to believe and be convinced that Chris dwells in you before you can experience the reality of His indwelling presence.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, please help me believe and always remember that Christ dwells in me.

Sowing Wisely 2

Download Today's Audio here☞ http://bit.ly/aud2789

Galatians 6:6-8 (NET) Now the one who receives instruction in the word must share all good things with the one who teaches it.Do not be deceived. God will not be made a fool. For a person will reap what he sows, because the person who sows to his own flesh will reap corruption from the flesh, but the one who sows to the Spirit will reap eternal life from the Spirit.

The first time Linda gave to the man of God through whom she had learned the way of the kingdom, she had an expectation to be blessed because she sowed into his ministry, but that expectation was not the reason she gave. She gave because she wanted to honor him and help with the work he was doing, and she got a bountiful harvest of rewards from the Lord. But after the bountiful harvest she received as a result of sowing into His life the first time, the second time Linda gave, the only reason she was giving was that she wanted to get something in return. That was why she got nothing from the LORD.

Many believers sow in the right field but not with the right motive, and because of this, they reap nothing. Giving to God only because you want something in return is not the way to sow to the spirit. Search the scriptures, and you will see that all who received a bountiful harvest because of their giving didn't do so primarily because of the returns. They gave either because of honor, because they wanted to meet a need, or because of love for God's kingdom. These were the people who were rewarded for their giving.

Go into today remembering that the right field to share all good things are with the ones who teach you the word.
Prayer: Ask God to purify your motives when giving so that you would not sow to the flesh and reap nothing.

Neither Hot Nor Cold 2

Download Today's Audio here☞ http://bit.ly/aud2788

Revelation 3:15-16 (NET)15 ‘I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either cold or hot! 16 So because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I am going to vomit you out of my mouth!

Inside one of the unmarked gifts Uche and Remi received at their wedding ceremony, they saw a note tied to a charm, and the note said that they were never going to prosper or have children because they have been cursed. When Remi showed the note to Uche, they both laughed and decided that the person who wrote the note must come to them to apologize. They agreed in prayer and commanded the fierce judgment of God upon the person who wrote the note.

Uche and Remi had a surprise visit from Uche’s great aunt. She came to beg them to forgive her because she had been terribly afflicted for weeks. She said she was the one who tried to place a curse on them because Uche refused to marry the girl she chose for him from their village, but disgraced her and married an outsider.

Unfortunately, years after their wedding, Uche and Remi were now spiritually lukewarm because of the cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches. They could no longer command the great spiritual authority they once had and were now fearful people. They didn’t know this until their child was spiritually attacked and they could not help her.

Go into today remembering that becoming lukewarm is one of the worst things that can happen to a Christian. It takes away the power but leaves the form. Samson did not know he had lost the power until he tried to use it in vain (see Judges 16:20). So it is when a Christian becomes lukewarm.

Prayer: Lord, deliver me from every care that seeks to make me lukewarm. Amen.

Neither hot nor cold

šŸŽ§Audio version here☞ http://bit.ly/aud1238

Revelation 3:15-16 (NET) ‘I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either cold or hot! 16 So because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I am going to vomit you out of my mouth!

When Remi and Uche got married, they were both born again and filled with the Holy Spirit. They both wanted to live their lives to please God and to be His light in their generation. But as times passed, they seemed to be sucked into the system of the world. They started trying to ‘keep up with the Joneses’ and became more and more worldly. They became lukewarm and no more fervent in their love for the Lord. They had now lost the deep-seated joy of the Holy Spirit in their hearts and unconsciously tried to replace this joy with the temporary happiness that comes with acquiring worldly possessions.

Notice that when a person becomes lukewarm, it is because he was once hot. How a person stays lukewarm for so long is a mystery. The normal way things should be is that when a person is no more spiritually hot, he becomes lukewarm and then becomes cold, but there are many Christians today who have stayed lukewarm for a long time. This is because they haven’t quite disconnected from the fire of the Holy Spirit, but they are no more fully given to God’s will and kingdom. They now live for the kingdom of God, and for the world.

Go into today remembering that a lukewarm Christian is not a fruitful Christian. A lukewarm Christian is a liability to the kingdom of God because even though he is supposed to be a witness for Christ, God cannot count on him because his loyalty is now divided.

Prayer: Lord, rekindle your fire in my heart today. Amen.

Sowing Wisely

Download Today's Audio here☞ http://bit.ly/aud2787

Galatians 6:6-7 (NET) Now the one who receives instruction in the word must share all good things with the one who teaches it. Do not be deceived. God will not be made a fool. For a person will reap what he sows

Linda observed that there was a season in her life when she walked in great financial open doors she never expected.

When she started inquiring of the Lord about the reason for the unusual open doors she experienced that season, the Lord showed her that it was because she shared her money with a pastor from whom she had learned so much. During that season of her life, she was sowing correctly and reaping a bountiful harvest.

Many believers wonder where the most fruitful field for them to give their finances may be. The answer to this important question is found in today's Bible verses. Believers are expected to share their material things with those who instruct them with the word of God.

See the way the Lord presents this truth to us through Apostle Paul here:
1 Corinthians 9:11 (NET) If we sowed spiritual blessings among you, is it too much to reap material things from you?

Many Christians give their money to 'pastors and prophets' who use cunning craftiness and deceitful gimmicks to extract money from them. They do not realize that those who fall for such fall because they are spiritual babies (see 1 Cor 3:1)--carnal believers who can be tossed to and fro by the cunning craftiness of men who deceive (see Ephesians 4:14) because their motive for giving is greed, which these cunning men can exploit.

Go into today knowing that the way to identify spiritually fruitful fields to sow your finances for kingdom advancement is by identifying where you are truly being fed with the word of God unto spiritual growth.

Inside Out

Luke 10:27 (KJV) And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself
Amanda was in love. It was quite obvious to everyone around her. There were long calls on hushed tones inundated with intermittent delightful giggles, the many weekend trips, and the love-emoji-laden chat always executed with a wide smile garnished with pink blushes. Amanda was in love.

In due course, Amanda informed her youth pastor of her relationship with Kelvin, and the following conversation ensued.

Youth Pastor: So, Amanda, tell me about Kelvin.

Amanda: Oh Pastor Joe, Kelvin is such a sweet soul. He is caring, treats me with respect, is so in tune with my needs, loves and supports my dreams. He is just the loveliest person I have ever met.

Youth Pastor: Oh, that’s nice. Anything else?

Amanda: Yeah. We hail from the same locality; he works in a tech company as a software developer and we hope to tie the knot soonest. Yeah, that’s about it.

Youth Pastor: Well, you omitted the part about his faith and why you think he is God’s will for you.

Amanda: Yeah, about that, he is erm, a Christian. He might not look like it, but he loves the Lord and has a good heart. Afterall, it is what is inside that matters right?

You must have heard it said before that God looks at the heart, and certain persons person have taken it a notch higher to add that ‘it is what is in the heart that matters’, and by that they usually make an appeal that evaluations should not be made based on what is visible and obvious but rather it should be based on the claims of what is in the heart.

If today’s text is anything to go by, (and it is), then we must know that love for God is not only restricted to the heart. It flows from the inside out. Recognize that this love must be in the heart, possess the soul, manifest in actions (with all your strength), and occupy and transform the mind.

A person who thinks like the world does, does not love the Lord as he ought, or does not love Him at all. A supposed lover of God who spends his strength in the course of his own satisfaction and gratification is one whose love is suspect at best, or maybe he’s just a lover of himself (See 2 Tim 3:2).
All four aspects must be present in increasing measures. The love will flow from the heart, possess the soul, manifest in actions and occupy/transform the mind. If you love the Lord in your heart, you will act like it, your will and emotions will line up with it, and your worldview will be shaped by it; it will flow from inside out.

Go into today allowing the love of God to flow unhindered from the inside out.

The Nature of Faith

Download Today's Audio here☞ http://bit.ly/aud1599
James 1:3-4 (NKJV) …Knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.

For seven years, Funke had prayed and trusted God to give her the fruit of the womb. But she was still expecting a miracle to happen. By this time, some of her ‘friends’ and family members were suggesting that she was not taking matters seriously enough. They told her about one ‘baba’ who solved several women’s problems. But Funke insisted that she was going to wait for the Lord and not turn to another god. (This ‘Baba’ was a sorcerer).

Many times, it occurred to Funke that she was going to die childless, but she kept on encouraging herself in the Lord. The Lord kept showing her signs and tokens to remind her that He was with her.

After being married for thirteen years, she and her husband welcomed their first child into this world. At the point she conceived, she was no more expecting to conceive because she had already reached menopause and had concluded that "even if He slay me, I will still trust Him". This was the threshold of faith that produced the miracle she had been praying for.

She didn’t quickly notice that all the time of waiting on the Lord and remaining steadfast had worked for her an eternal weight of glory. Even though she didn’t have biological children, she had many children in the Lord and had discipled tens of girls, many of whom she brought out of the streets.

Something about faith that we cannot afford to forget is that faith and patience usually work together. One of the biggest signs of true faith in the heart of a believer is the willingness to be patient. It is during the period of patience that our faith is being purified and made strong.

Go into today remembering that true faith is willing to wait on God and not turn to compromises.

Prayer: Ask the Lord to help you walk steadfastly in faith all the days of your life.
