Hebrews 4:15-16 (KJV) For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. Let us, therefore, come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
Chinelo was going through a lot. Her husband was behaving badly, her children were unruly, and her boss was overbearing. Her car was now misbehaving, and Chinelo started feeling overwhelmed. At some point, she burst into tears because of how frustrated she felt. "I need to speak to someone," she said frantically. She called her mother and had a long conversation with her. While discussing with her mother, at some point, she started crying. After discussing her challenges with her mother for about one hour, she felt truly relieved. Her mother gave her good counsel, prayed with her, and encouraged her. After this, Chinelo felt revived and strengthened. She was now able to face life triumphantly.

Do you know that by faith, you can have a conversation with the Lord Jesus as you would a counselor or therapist? The difference is that the Lord Jesus can help you in ways no therapist can, and He loves you the way no one does. In 1 Peter 5:7, we learn that the Lord expects us to cast our cares upon Him because He cares for us. One of the most effective ways of doing this is to literally tell the Lord how it hurts and open up about your wounds of betrayals, fears, and insecurities. Know that when you talk to the Lord, He hears you.

Go into today remembering that you have an ally in heaven called Jesus Christ. He is the most important person in the universe and He is on your side.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, please fill my heart with faith, so I can commune with the Lord as I should. In Jesus' name. Amen

Hebrews 4: 15-16 (KJV) For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. Let us, therefore, come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
Sharon was going through a lot of pressure and had failed so many times, but she didn't feel she could share her struggles with her mother because she knew her mother would judge her instead of helping her. Her mother had never lived on campus and had a very narrow fixed perspective on the way things were meant to be. Pastor Pamela was not like that. She was down to earth, had lived on the campus, and knew the struggles a young girl like Sharon faced. Sharon found victory through the help of Pastor Pamela. She could open up to her and share her fears and weaknesses, and she could be helped.

One reason we can come boldly before God's throne of Grace is that we know that our high priest will not judge us but help us. He is human and understands our weaknesses. He knows how to help us through temptations because he Himself was tempted, but did not sin. So he knows how to guide us in his footstep so we too can walk free of the entanglement and power of sin.

God desires a personal relationship with us where we get to discuss our deepest fears and insecurities with Him (1 Peter 5:7). The reason we are to confess our sins to Him is not that it informs Him(He knows already), it is because we are in a relationship with Him, and opening up to Him helps us heal and gain wisdom and strength to overcome the next time temptation comes.

Go into today remembering that the throne of grace is meant to help us, not condemn us. We can come boldly because we have an eternal ally in Christ Jesus.

Marriage and Integrity

1 Corinthians 7:1-2 (KJV) Now concerning the things whereof ye wrote unto me: It is good for a man not to touch a woman. Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband.

Before the epistle of First Corinthians was written, some members of the church at Corinth wrote a letter to Apostle Paul asking certain questions. They wanted to know if they were permitted to get married as unmarried men and women who now believed in the Lord Jesus. They wanted also to know if those married to unbelievers could remain with their spouses even if their spouses did not believe.
Today’s Bible verses address the first question the Corinthians raised. Apostle Paul makes it clear here that even though celibacy is a good thing, sexual immorality is a bad thing and marriage helps to prevent it.

One of the strongest attributes of God that His children inherit is His integrity (Psalm 15:4). God even exalts His word above His name (Psalm 138:2), that’s how much a Person of integrity our God is. Marriage adds a layer of integrity to the reasons why a believer must flee all sexual immorality. If a married person commits immorality, he not only sins against God and his body but sins against his wife and breaks his integrity.

Some have taught that celibacy is a secret to spiritual power. That could be true for some inferior form of spiritual power, but God’s power doesn’t work that way. The only reason in the word of God why unmarried people can serve God better is because a married man would have to be concerned about the things of this world—how to please his wife. But marriage becomes a big advantage to ministry when one marries the right person who would help him fulfill his divine mandate.

Prayer: Ask the Lord to help you marry the right person who would help you fulfill your divine destiny. If you are married, ask the Lord to help you and your spouse help each other fulfill divine destiny.

Matthew 28:19-20 (NET) Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

Sandra's pastor erroneously taught them that the things our Lord Jesus taught His disciples do not apply to the church today because Jesus was teaching people under the law and we are not under the law. He went on to tell them that only the epistles have relevance for the believer in Christ.

When you see a preacher trying to explain away the teachings of our Lord Jesus, that is a telling sign that he is a teacher of heresy.

Sandra's pastor probably didn't realize that after Jesus was resurrected, He instructed His apostles to go and make disciples of all nations by baptizing them and teaching them to observe all that He taught. He also probably does not realize that what the apostles wrote in the epistles were echoes of what Christ taught.

Because of what Sandra's pastor was teaching, which he called “the gospel of grace”, the church he pastored was full of weak indisciplined, and morally bankrupt young people who were full of emotion and devoid of spiritual understanding. While in that Church, Sandra had so many abortions that she did not believe she still had the ability to get pregnant. She was so unhappy and empty even though she was brainwashed to believe she was under the grace of God and was eternally secure. Because of the unrelenting intercession of her mother and sisters, she was eventually delivered from that charismatic zoo she called her church. She was brought to true repentance and started living a straight life under the authority of Christ. It took her mother thirteen years of constant intercession for Sandra to become truly saved.

Though ancient, the words of our Lord are the most current and relevant words for life today. They form the foundation of all Christian doctrine.

Go into today remembering that because the church is apostolic in nature, the product of an accurate Christian assembly should be sinners converted into saints through the process of discipleship. Any assembly where sinners are made to feel comfortable in their sin is not a place to be as a serious-minded believer.

Prayer: Lord, help me live by your word and be fruitful in every good work. Amen.

The Gain of Godliness with Contentment

1 Timothy 6:6 (KJV) “But godliness with contentment is great gain".

A secret camera captured Deby while she was receiving a bribe. When asked why she took the bribe, she had no cogent answer. She was already so wealthy; she owned several houses, multiple investments, a fleet of cars, hundreds of millions as savings, and choice plots of land. Her children were grown up and very successful. She had all her needs met, but lack of contentment led her to receive the bride which cost her her freedom. She was sentenced to 25 years imprisonment for that crime.

Covetousness and love of money are siblings, they are significant manifestations of lust which is the root of all sin.

James 1:14-15 (KJV) has this to say about lust, “But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death".

Lust will produce sin and sin will lead to death if left unchecked. The gain of godliness and contentment is thus obvious: it leads to life.

Never forget that the aim of all discontentment to lead to covetousness is death, but the aim of godliness with contentment is life.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, help me to lead a godly and contented life. Amen.

Hebrews 10:7 (KJV) Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God.
Your life was scripted by Almighty God from before you were born. God has His plans concerning you and these plans are good plans(Jeremiah 29:11). These plans can only find fruition when you are born again. Being born again started when you believed in the Lord Jesus, and would be perfected during the resurrection; when our bodies are changed according to the similitude of the new life we received.

When the Lord taught us to pray (Matthew 6:9-13), you will find that one of the strongest objectives of prayer is enforcing God's will on the earth as it is [written] in heaven. When all is said and done, we will all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, and our lives are going to be evaluated, not according to how we impressed our neighbors, but according to how we lived in alignment with God's predetermined will.

One of the things the Holy Spirit does for us who believe is that he guides us into all truth and brings us into the consciousness of God's will for us(John 16:13, 2 Corinthians 10-13, 1 John 2:20). He leads us to walk in God's predetermined will, and our job is to follow.

Those who compare themselves with themselves are not walking wisely(see 2 Corinthians 10:12) because in doing so, they'll have to neglect their script and try to live by someone else's script. Many people have done things that God didn't plan for them to do– things that ended up being a waste of time because they were comparing themselves with their neighbors, and thus following another man's script.

Go into today knowing that your life here on earth has been scripted in heaven. Don't forget that you'll stand before the judgment seat of Christ and give an account of how you fulfilled this script(see 2 Corinthians 5:10).

Romans 8:33-34 (KJV) Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifieth. Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.

When Nkiru was an unbeliever, she performed many Illegal abortion procedures as a nurse. She had lost count of the number of abortions she performed because it was a very lucrative business.
After accepting the Lord Jesus, she repented of her sins and stopped performing abortions. Two years into her marriage, she could not conceive. Each time she tried to pray about this, she was continually reminded of her past sins. It wasn't until she got light from today's scripture that she broke free from the bondage of darkness and could now conceive.

Before the devil can afflict any believer, he has to first accuse and bring them under condemnation. It is the duty of the believer to appropriate the realities of his redemption and break free from every accusation.
Remember, it is God who justified you, not your works. If you believe this, you would walk in the realities of your redemption.

Go into today remembering that because you are in Christ, Jesus makes intercession for you. You are not alone in the Spirit realm. You have the biggest ally of all, and He is not ashamed of you.

Prayer: Holy Father, please help me know greater measures of your grace daily. Help me walk in the consciousness of my justification and help me be fruitful in every good work, In Jesus' name. Amen.

2 Corinthians 6:17-18 (NET) Therefore “come out from their midst, and be separate,” says the Lord, “and touch no unclean thing, and I will welcome you, and I will be a father to you, and you will be my sons and daughters,” says the All-Powerful Lord.

While Chinedu was still mingling with the world and running his business as an unbeliever, he was still having episodes of spiritual attacks and nightmares. . He wondered why these things were still happening to him. He was told that if he accepted the Lord Jesus, he would become a child of God and would no longer be susceptible to his previous attacks, but that didn't really seem to be the case. He was still having experiences that made him doubt if the power of God was real in his life?

As he decided to abide in the Lord and not go back to the world, he realized that the Holy Spirit moved him to separate himself from his old friends who were unbelievers. He also observed that his faith became much stronger when he did this. With time, he woke up one morning and observed that his afflictions had all disappeared. He was so preoccupied with seeking the Lord and growing that he even forgot about them.

Many believers in the Lord Jesus today are not having the experiential reality of the fatherhood of God and they wonder why.

Today's Bible verse was written to believers who even though they had the motions corresponding to faith in Christ Jesus, they needed to understand that those who would enjoy the fatherhood dimension of relationship with God are those who are wholly separated unto the Lord. This means separation from friendship with the world, and living with the consciousness that they are indeed different from the world around them.

Go into today deciding to live a life separated unto the Lord and experiencing the fatherhood dimension of the Lord God.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, help me to separate myself unto you and you alone. Help me to be truly holy and walk in the reality of sonship.

Romans 8:31-32 (KJV) What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?

Amaka's husband's family hated her, and they made this very clear to her three months after their wedding. They told her she was the reason their son was no longer loyal to the family.

After their wedding, Benjamin became more committed to the Lord because of Amaka's influence. He was from a pagan family that took pride in their idolatrous practices. But since his marriage, Benjamin stopped giving them money for such practices because his sanctification to the Lord meant he had to consciously cut off from all idolatry whether knowingly or unknowingly. He now gave his parents more money for their upkeep, but no more money for their rituals. Because of this, his relatives knew they could no longer control him.

Benjamin accepted the Lord when he was in secondary school. He was a leader on campus fellowship at the university, and that was when he made it clear that he was no longer going to be participating in the family rituals. But unknown to him, he still participated in proxy because he would give his relatives money to participate [on his behalf]. By giving them money for the rituals, he didn't know that he was giving certain demons license to operate in his life. This was why his spiritual life as a bachelor was a terrible struggle. But this all ended after he married Amaka and they both became more dedicated to the Lord.

Amaka did not know the deep darkness in her husband's family until after she married him and he became more dedicated to the Lord. Strange battles began against her and the family. One night, her husband's grandmother literally appeared in their bedroom to threaten Amaka. That was when they realized that the traditional sculpture in their bedroom was demonic, and they got rid of it and all others.

Amaka was told several times in her dream that she would die and her husband would marry another girl. She was afflicted during her first pregnancy and almost lost it, but the Lord gave them perpetual Victory. She and her husband entered their victory through the revelation in today's scripture (Romans 8:31-32). This was when they realized that God would do anything to protect them. They stopped being afraid and defensive and started being on the attack spiritually. Many of their family members eventually came to know the Lord because of them.

If God did not spare His only begotten son for our sakes, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?

Go into today knowing that God is on your side. If by faith, you live under the authority of Christ Jesus, you are more than a conqueror (Romans 8:37). There are much more angels than there are demons, and they are all on your side.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, help me rest in the truth that you are eternally on my side. Thank you, Father, in Jesus' name. Amen.

Romans 8:30-31 (KJV) Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified. What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?

A rich generous king prepared a big banquet and was kind enough to invite all the nobles and honorable people in his kingdom. But unfortunately, they all despised his invitation and made it clear that they were not coming. Because of this, he extended his invitation to everyone else-- the commoners were now invited. Everyone else was now to be part of the party. Read Matthew 22:1-14.

Salvation was for the Jews(John 4:22). They were the noble people of God's kingdom because they were the nation separated unto God from their inception. But the door was opened to the Gentiles because the Jews rejected the call of God (Romans 11:12). This was demonstrated in the fact that they were the ones who gave the Lord over to be crucified.
But God was aware of all this. It played into His eternal plan to save not only the Jews but the whole world.

Today, many are called, and we can see from today's Scripture that it is those who have been predestined that are called. But we also see in Matthew 22:14 that out of the many called, few are chosen. Our response to the call is what will determine whether we are chosen.
Because man has free will, the fact that he was predestined and called does not automatically mean that he would be chosen. We have to respond to the call.

For those of us who have responded to the call of God to become conformed to the image of His dear son, we need to continue in our conviction to the end (Hebrews 10:23). Let's not allow distractions, pressures, and cares of this life hinder us from being fruitful. Let us endure to the end so that we would receive our crown and not be ashamed when our Lord appears.

Go into today remembering that God's got you. Your salvation was planned from the foundation of the world. Your life is not a coincidence and all things are working together for your good because you love God and are called according to His purpose.

Prayer: Thank you, Heavenly Father, for choosing me before I knew anything. I ask that you help me walk worthy of this glorious call and please you in all regards. Amen.

John 15:7 (NET) If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you want, and it will be done for you.

After Chinedu accepted the Lord Jesus, there was the temptation for him to go back to the world and not remain or abide in the Lord. But he read John 15 and realized that in order for him to be fruitful, he had to remain in the Lord. He knew this meant he had to leave his friends who were a bad influence on his faith. He also realized this meant he had to submit to the Lord and let the word of the Lord rule his life and even his business practices.

Many believers today are not fruitful and are lacking in spiritual might and power because they are not abiding in the Lord. Even though they attend church services, they are still in the world and not in Christ because they are still dominated by the principles of the world (1 John 2:16). You cannot abide in Christ and continue in the principles of this world.

Those who remain with the Lord are those that have a relationship with Him. They care about how the Lord feels and seek to please Him in all things. The word of God will abide in them. Because the Word is living and active, it would renew their minds and transform them into the image of Christ (Rom 12:2, 2 Corinthians 3:18). At this point, whatever they want would align with God’s will, so whatever they ask will be given to them.

Go into today remembering that it is only those who abide in the Lord that will be fruitful. They are those that heaven responds to their prayer. Ask the Lord to help you abide in Him and be fruitful.

Confession: I abide in the Lord. I am fruitful in every good work. I am walking in the will of God in all things. In Jesus's name, Amen.

2 Corinthians 5:9-10 (NET)So then whether we are alive or away, we make it our ambition to please him. For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may be paid back according to what he has done while in the body, whether good or evil.

When Chude was in primary school, he was often asked what his life's ambition was. Chude always wanted to be a pilot, and unlike most of his classmates, he held onto that ambition. Because studying to be a pilot was really expensive in his country, his parents could not afford to send him to aviation school, so he attended the government subsidized school everyone attended and studied to be an engineer. But as soon as he graduated from engineering school, an opportunity presented itself, he seized it forcefully and went to aviation school. He ultimately fulfilled his life's ambition of becoming a pilot.

But after becoming a pilot and flying planes for hours and hours, one day he asked himself if it was all worth it. Being a pilot had lost its novelty, and his lifelong ambition had now proven to be nothing but vanity(Ecclesiastes 1:2). But after Chude accepted the Lord Jesus Christ, he found an eternal ambition that now propelled his life and delivered him from the crisis of earthly vanity. His ambition was now to please the Lord at all costs. He now looked forward to the day he would hear the Lord say "well done, good and faithful servant". He understood that there was an eternal kingdom prepared for him to inherit, and he did not want to lose his place in that kingdom. Even though he remained a pilot, his work as a pilot now had new meaning. He was now a representative of Christ.

From today's Bible Reading, we see that we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ. It didn't say “we may all appear” or “we can all appear”. Appearing before the judgment seat of Christ is an inevitable destination for us all. From now, we can decide to live our lives in such a way that when we appear before the Lord, we would not be ashamed. Know that many would be cast away because they lived to please themselves rather than to please the Lord (see 1 Corinthians 9:27).

Go into today remembering that the only way to live a life that would pass the Lord's test on that day is when pleasing the Lord [at all costs] becomes your life's ambition.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, help me to be filled with the knowledge of your will, and to please you in all regards. Amen.

Ephesians 4:7 (NET) But to each one of us grace was given according to the measure of the gift of Christ.

After Mrs. McClusky became friends with Franka, she realized that Franka had a spiritual gift she didn't know how to handle properly. Franka had very great prophetic gifts and she could see things concerning people very accurately through her dreams and visions of the night. Because Mrs. McClusky was a teacher of the word, she could help Franka understand her spiritual gift and guide her to use it profitably for God's house.

Today's Bible verse reveals that God gives us grace according to the gift we have received. Because Franka had the gift of prophecy, she had the ability to pray for really long hours with fasting, but Mrs. McClusky who had the gift to teach had the ability to spend hours upon hours studying the word and learning. Even though Mrs. Mcclusky spent a lot of time praying and sometimes fasting too, she knew Franka had extra grace in that area, and she did not try to be like Franka. If we do not understand that we have grace according to the gift we have received, we might spend our time and resources trying to be something that we have not been given the ability to become.

Because of Mrs. McClusky's gift, Franka was more effective and accurate in the administration of her gift. And because of Franka's gift, Mrs. McClusky was saved from making a decision that would have cost her her business. They both could excel in their gifts and be beneficial to one another because they understood the gifts they had and their attendant graces or abilities.

Go into today trusting the Lord to help you identify the gift you have received and the attendant grace or ability God has given you to help you excel in it.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, please help me walk in your perfect will. Help me identify my area of grace and excel in it, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

John 13:34-35 (NKJV) A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another."

When Omolara arrived in New York City for the first time, she was stranded because she couldn't reach her cousin who was to pick her up from the airport. She arrived 24 hours earlier than scheduled. Because of some issues with her bank, to her surprise, she couldn’t spend her money because it was still held up in her country’s local currency.

When it became clear to Omolara that she was going to be stranded in the airport with very little money, she called her pastor and told him of her plight. Thankfully, her pastor knew some brethren in that city that he could call. One of them had to leave her office early and drive for three hours to the airport to go and pick up Omolara.

When Omolara's cousin eventually got through to her 24 hours later, she was surprised to see that Omolara was already comfortable and well settled. Because of the genuine love that she saw among Christians that day, she eventually became a believer herself.

The Warrens took Omolara into their home because through the testimony of a Christian brother they knew, they were sure she too was a sister.

'I was a stranger, and you invited me in' is one of the things the Lord will say to His sheep on that day (see Matt 25:34-40). Christians are people who love each other. It is in our divine DNA (1 John 4:7-8).

Go into today remembering that as far as heaven is concerned, anyone who is truly born of God will love his Christian brethren (see 1 John 3:10).

1 Timothy 1:19-20 (KJV) Holding faith, and a good conscience; which some having put away concerning faith have made shipwreck: Of whom is Hymenaeus and Alexander; whom I have delivered unto Satan, that they may learn not to blaspheme

When Kemi believed in the Lord Jesus, she knew intuitively that she needed to repent of her sins and start living a new life of righteousness. Her pastor also taught her as much. As soon as she repented of her sins by confessing them before the Lord, she knew her sins were forgiven and she now had a clear conscience before God and men. There were books and other things she "borrowed" and "forgot" to return to friends and family that she now felt the need to return with an apology.

Everywhere there is true faith in God, it is always accompanied by true repentance (see Hebrews 6:1, Mark 1:15, Acts 2:41, Acts 19:19). Repentance means confessing, renouncing, and forsaking every known sin.

When a believer continues to walk in a manner that tampers with his good conscience, it could be an indication that his faith is under attack. The devil tempts believers so much because he wants us to have an evil conscience which ultimately leads to a shipwreck of faith. If there's anything we must fight for, it should be our faith; If there's any fight we must fight, it must be the good fight of faith (1 Timothy 6:12).

There is a real connection between living faith and a clear conscience. Faith is spiritual and the apparatus of your heart that connects with [the] faith [of God] becomes insensitive if your conscience is damaged.

Go into today remembering that maintaining a clear conscience before man and God is not a luxury but a necessity if your faith will not die.

Luke 18:1 (KJV) And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint

After discussing extensively with Mr. Jacob and understanding the truth of things, Hiroshi accepted the Lord Jesus. He was drawn to Christianity because he wanted to live for something bigger than himself, and he wanted what Mr. Jacob had. He also realized that he needed salvation, and he now desperately wanted to be saved.

Being a very successful businessman whose time was supremely precious, Hiroshi was baffled by how much time Christians were supposed to spend praying. As he grew in faith, he appreciated the value of prayer and invested more and more time in it.

One of the strongest proofs of faith in the life of a believer is his investment in prayer. It is Only a person who has faith that will give hours to pray daily. Prayer is an act of faith because you cannot see God to whom you are praying, so giving much valuable time to it demonstrates faith in God. Remember, faith in God is one of the most precious things in eternity(1 Peter 1:7), it is the reason Abraham was declared righteous before God (Romans 4:3, Galatians 5:16). It is one of the strongest markers that demonstrate the nature of God in any man because the Lord God is a being of faith (Galatians 2:20, Romans 4:17, Mark 11:22).

Go into today remembering that a man living by faith will be a man of prayer. A man who does not pray is not living by faith, no matter how much he claims to have faith.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, please increase my faith (Luke 17:5).

2 Timothy 2:11-13 (NET) This saying is trustworthy: If we died with him, we will also live with him. If we endure, we will also reign with him. If we deny him, he will also deny us. If we are unfaithful, he remains faithful, since he cannot deny himself.

Hiroshi observed that Mr. Jacob had such integrity that he was willing to suffer for his convictions. There was something that drove him that was beyond what this world had to offer. As Hiroshi began to find out more about Christianity, he realized that there had been some Christian missionaries that visited his country, but many of them were persecuted and killed. He also observed that the missionaries kept coming in spite of the fact that they knew they were going to be killed. Hiroshi observed that Mr. Jacob had that same heart that did not consider life as precious as his convictions. He was now not just interested in knowing about Christianity, he now wanted to know what it was that these Christians understood.

The reason why the apostles were willing to suffer for Christ, and most of them were martyred, was because they lived by faith and not by sight. Their lives were controlled and regulated by what they believed.

The reason why the apostles were not going to allow anything to hinder them from pleasing the Lord was that they understood what lay ahead. They were not even going to allow the fear of death to make them displease their Lord. They knew they had a reward, and their reward was very great.

When a student goes through a lot of stress studying because he wants to get a degree, the life he lives while studying is proof that he believes he would be awarded a degree if he successfully completes the program. What we expect from the Lord is eternal, and more valuable than anything our minds can fully understand now (John 3:2). if we truly believe this, it would show in the way we live.

Go into today remembering that true faith would always produce faithfulness. Think more about your eternity because you now have eternal life.

2 Corinthians 5:6-7, 10 (NET) Therefore we are always full of courage, and we know that as long as we are alive here on earth we are absent from the Lord – for we live by faith, not by sight.

10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may be paid back according to what he has done while in the body, whether good or evil.

Hiroshi grew up in a very moral community. Culturally, his people were polite and tried to treat people the way they would want to be treated. Lying and being dishonest was a dreaded trait among adults because society would shun you if you had a reputation for being dishonest. But Hiroshi observed that Mr. Jacob was different. He did not only act upright because of society, he was genuinely upright. He observed that while others were nice and tried to be truthful because of their culture, Mr. Jacob was living by an even higher standard. He wouldn't lie or break his word even if his life were in danger. When Hiroshi found out that Mr. Jacob was so upright because he was a Christian, for the first time in his life, he became interested in knowing more about Christianity.

You see, Mr. Jacob lived by faith. While others were culturally upright, he was genuinely upright because he was living in the light of the blessed hope and understood that he would one day stand before the judgment seat of Christ. He was not just living because of the expectation of society, he was living because of the commendation of heaven.

Faith is the substance of things hoped for, and the evidence of things not yet seen(Hebrews 11:1). A person living by faith is one whose life is built around an expectation for which his way of life substantiates. As a believer, living by faith means living your life in such a way that it would be clear to an objective observer that you have an expectation(hope) that is beyond what can be seen now. Abraham exemplified this very well. The things he did and how he lived demonstrated that he had an expectation from God. From today's Bible Text, we see that the apostles lived by faith because their lives were built around the truth that they would appear before the judgment seat of Christ.

Go into today remembering that a life truly lived by faith will demonstrate to onlookers that there is a hope you possess that is beyond what this present world can offer. Always be ready to give an answer to anyone who asks about this Hope (see 1 Peter 3:15)

Numbers 23:19 (KJV)God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?

After being married for twelve years, mercy was still awaiting the fruit of the womb. She became desperate because she didn't marry on time and her biological clock was no more in her favor. Her husband who used to be very sweet and kind had become sour, and her in-laws were no longer nice to her.

As she cried to the Lord one night, she remembered a word of prophecy that came to her. The word said she was going to have three children and they were all going to be boys.

As soon as she remembered that prophecy which she knew was from the Lord, she received strength again to pray.

The first time that word of prophecy came to her, she believed it. But that night, she not only believed it but used it as a weapon of spiritual warfare with which she dispelled every doubt and unbelief in her heart. She conceived that same month.

Faith (which is a shield) comes by hearing the word of God, but the word of God is also a sword. It is the sword of the Spirit (Ephesians 6:17).

In 1 Timothy 1:18, we see that Timothy was charged to use the prophecies he had received to war a good warfare. Prophecies are to be used not just kept in the recesses of the heart.

When Daniel read the prophecies concerning Israel and it was appearing as if they were not going to be fulfilled, he started spiritual warfare, and his basis and weapons were the prophecies he had read(see Daniel 9:2).

Go into today remembering that spiritual warfare is won by praying always in the Spirit, with the weapon of God's word (Ephesians 6:12, 18).

1 Peter 2:5 (KJV)Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.

In the old covenant, the temple was built as a place where sacrifices were to be offered to God. It was to be the place where God dwelt. It was Holy.

Today, we are the temple of God (1 Cor 3:16). The church is His temple and His embassy on the earth. He dwells in us individually and dwells [mightily] in us corporately (see Zephaniah 3:17, Matthew 18:20).

Think about it this way: every stick of wood in a campfire has its own individual fire. But all of them together would produce a great fire that will light up the environment and drive away the wild animals.
When the church in a territory is united, we produce territorial illumination and push away the darkness and demons from that territory.

Whenever one stick of wood is separated from the burning bunch for too long, it begins to die out. But if the stick of wood is added back to the burning bunch, it regains its fire again.

As believers worship God together and fellowship with His word, we fan our corporate flame and become more effectual corporately and individually. Our fire burns bigger and our lights shine brighter.

As you go to church today, remember that by worshiping God with your brethren, it is an opportunity for you to recharge your spirit with the fire of the Holy Ghost. Let this be your expectation, for the expectation of the righteous shall not be cut off (Prov 23:18).

Prayer: Ask the Lord to help you ever burn for Him and bring glory to his name. (Read Matthew 5:16).

1 Corinthians 6:1-2 (NET)When any of you has a legal dispute with another, does he dare go to court before the unrighteous rather than before the saints? Or do you not know that the saints will judge the world? And if the world is to be judged by you, are you not competent to settle trivial suits?

When the Lord returns to this physical world with His saints and His glorious angels(Jude 1:14), we would have the resurrected glorified bodies and will have the power to take over the governments of this world (Rev 11:15). Every single corner of this earth will be under our control, and we will judge the men of the earth and rule over them (see Revelation 2:26-27, Matt 16:27).

Naturally, they would try to resist us because we are coming to take over their governments, but they would not be able to resist us because unlike them, we would have indestructible bodies and super intelligence like the world has never seen. The Lord Jesus will set up the headquarters of His global government in Jerusalem, and His twelve apostles will be part of His top cabinet officials (Matt 19:28).

Every believer who has served the Lord during his pilgrimage on earth will be given portfolios (thrones) in that glorious kingdom (Rev 3:21). Some will be given ten cities to govern; some five (see Luke 19:17, 19:19), depending on how they have served God now. For example, we know from scripture that King David will be made a prince (or governor) over the land of Israel (see Ezekiel 37:25).

We are going to be people of great wisdom who will be able to rule the men of the earth and judge them, and we are supposed to start working in a foretaste of that wisdom because of the indwelling Holy Spirit. That's the reason why as believers, we should not take our disputes before unbelievers to judge for us because these same unbelievers are the ones we will judge in our coming government.

1 Corinthians 5:9-11 (NET) I wrote you in my letter not to associate with sexually immoral people. In no way did I mean the immoral people of this world, or the greedy and swindlers and idolaters, since you would then have to go out of the world. But now I am writing to you not to associate with anyone who calls himself a Christian who is sexually immoral, or greedy, or an idolater, or verbally abusive, or a drunkard, or a swindler. Do not even eat with such a person.

Because Tare was a believer, he would have never been that close to Tega if Tega were not also claiming to be a believer. Tare was very aware of God's instruction that we should not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers (2 Corinthians 6:14), but he was not aware of the instruction in today's Bible verses that says we should not keep company with anyone who says he is a brother, but who is an immoral person, or who still lives his life like an unbeliever.

Many believers have fallen into the trap of Satan because they have kept company with so-called believers who are actually unbelievers (wolves in sheep's clothing) or believers who have acute spiritual diseases and who should be on spiritual quarantine.

Go into today remembering that you are to guard your heart with all diligence because out of it flows the springs of life (see Proverbs 4:23). One way to guard your heart is by being very careful about the company you keep. A man who would walk in the blessing of heaven is one who is careful with the company he keeps, and who delights in the word of the Lord (see Psalm 1:1-3).

Prayer: Lord, help me from this day to keep company with those who would help me delight in His word and grow.

1 Corinthians 5:7-8 (KJV) Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us: Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness; but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.

When Tare found out that the reason why lust was in his heart was because Tega his new best friend was an acute womanizer, Tare decided to become a mouthpiece for Christ. He decided that he was going to ensure that all his conversations with Tega were centered on the word of God. He was no longer going to hide his faith and love for the Lord.

After two weeks, Tega started avoiding him because he was not interested in 'all that Jesus talk'.

It wasn’t easy for Tare, but he knew he had to purge out the old leaven of immorality by letting go of his close friendship with Tega since Tega was not willing to be purged by the word of God.

There are two kinds of leaven identified in today’s Bible verses. There is the old leaven which Apostle Paul was talking about when he was refereeing to the immorality in the church, and there is the other kind of leaven which is similar to the old leaven but is more subtle and common among self-righteous believers. This leaven is called the leaven of malice and wickedness. Malice happens when believers refuse to forgive those that have offended them. Wickedness is when believers refuse to walk in love; let their light shine; and witness for Christ to a perishing world. In the Parable of Talents, the servant who hid and refused to use his talent was called a wicked servant (see Matt 25:26).

Go into today remembering that it is as we escape the leaven of corruption that we become partakers of the divine nature through faith (see 2 Pet 1:4).

1 Corinthians 5:7 (KJV) Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us

When Tare moved from Warri to Lagos, he got in touch with Tega his best friend on campus. They were so excited to meet again and they continued their friendship as before. But Tare was now happily married while Tega was a womanizer who could not keep his marriage together.

Tare really loved his wife and had eyes for no other woman. But after living six months in Lagos, with continuous fellowship with Tega, he noticed that his love for his wife was now waxing cold. And he was becoming drawn to other women.

He couldn't understand what was happening to him. He had vowed never to cheat on his wife, but it was now becoming very difficult to keep his vow.

After almost falling into adultery with a lady in the office, he decided it was time to seek help. He talked to his pastor about his struggles while he waited on the Lord concerning this issue.

Through the guidance of his pastor, he discovered that he had been affected by the spiritual disease of his new best friend, Tega. He was advised to break close fellowship with this friend if he wanted his marriage to survive.

There were two reasons why Apostle Paul commanded that the man who was cohabiting with his father's wife be removed from fellowship with the church.

The first reason was so that he would come to repentance after he had suffered the consequences of separation from the spiritual covering of the church. The second reason was that Apostle Paul didn't want the yeast of his iniquity to spread among the brethren.

Iniquity is like a contagious disease. That’s why believers are warned not to be unequally yoked together with unbelievers (see 2 Cor 6:14) and not to keep company with 'believers' who behave like unbelievers (see 1 Cor 5:11).

2 Timothy 2:4 (NET) No one in military service gets entangled in matters of everyday life; otherwise he will not please the one who recruited him.

Terna did not realize how serious military service was until he joined. After he joined, he realized he couldn't just pack and leave because he found it inconvenient. He was shocked to discover that his life now practically belonged to the government and he could die at any time in service to his country. He realized that as a soldier on active duty, he could not do what pleased him but only what was required by the command.

Since our relationship with God is spiritual and divine, there are many metaphors that describe it. We are sons, we are servants, we are soldiers, etc.

Many believers understand the sonship part of their relationship with God but fail to understand that they are also soldiers. As soldiers, we cannot afford to entangle ourselves with the things of this present world. We cannot afford to have the same value system as the people of this world.

We have a mission and our mission takes top priority. God has real expectations of us, and we cannot afford to fail Him. The Holy Spirit has been given to us to help us succeed.

Any believer who fails to understand the soldier dimension of his interaction with God's Kingdom will shortchange himself in this journey of life.

Go into today remembering that you're a soldier in the army of the Lord. You have a mission here to complete. You are strong, wise, and invincible because He that is in you is greater than he that is in the world.

Isaiah 60:2 (KJV) For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the LORD shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee.

As Jane grew older, she observed that the world became more and more evil. Iniquity seemed to have taken over many places, and there were now so many people who claimed to be believers but who really were not. Because of this, she almost became burdened and depressed because she was troubled about the kind of life her grandchildren would have to live.

She decided to stop complaining and do her part in reducing the darkness in this world. She started a Bible club for the young children in her neighborhood. Because she provided free snacks and drinks, many of them attended. With time, most of them were led to the Lord and became bright lights in their generation. She became a very cheerful and happy old lady because of this.

You may have observed that in this world, things are not really getting better. Nations are changing their laws in rebellion against the order of God. Wickedness and terrorism seem to be a new reality. Darkness indeed covers the earth, and gross darkness the people. But remember that the thicker the darkness, the more relevant the light becomes.

God who is the Father of all lights has promised to arise upon you and cause His glory to be seen in you. Sinners will come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your rising if you let your light shine. Light is the solution to darkness. You are the solution to the darkness of this world.

Go into today deciding to let your light shine by being a witness for Christ in every place God has planted you.
