The Power of Compassion

Philippians 4:4-5 (MSG): "Celebrate God all day, every day. I mean, revel in him! Make it as clear as you can to all you meet that you’re on their side, working with them and not against them. Help them see that the Master is about to arrive. He could show up any minute!"

When Farida discovered she was pregnant, she was devastated. Overwhelmed with guilt and shame, she didn't know how to handle the situation. It was only her second year in college.

Desperate and confused, she decided to confide in her roommate, who was a believer. Her roommate was saddened by the news, and together they cried.

“What are you going to do now?” her roommate asked gently.

“I don’t know. I really don’t know. But I can’t abort it. I had a dream where I died trying to do it,” Farida responded.

Her roommate was relieved that she wouldn’t take the life of her unborn child because of her mistake. She encouraged Farida to be strong and helped her make the right decisions.

Because of her roommate’s support during this difficult time, Farida eventually became a believer in the Lord Jesus. She repented of her sins and grew deeply committed to Christ.

When Farida gave birth, it was her fellow believers who rallied around her, offering help and ensuring she wasn’t alone.

As she grew in her faith, Farida began to share her story with other young girls, teaching them how to avoid the mistakes she had made. God blessed her with a fruitful ministry. She eventually opened a center where young women seeking to leave prostitution could learn a trade, earn a living, and come to know the Lord.

Farida’s life and ministry were the result of a believer showing love and compassion to an unbelieving roommate during her time of guilt and shame.

As believers, when dealing with unbelievers, we must remember that God loves them, and Christ died to save them. Don’t let hatred for their sin prevent you from loving them. Let your relationships with them always be in the name of the Lord, guided by a desire to bring them into the light of God’s love.

Prayer: Lord, please help me to love and win souls for You everywhere I go. Amen.

Resurrection Through Christ

1 Corinthians 15:21-22 (KJV) For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.

There is a profound spiritual principle that today's Bible verses reveal. This principle is that when something is done by a man, it would take a man (and not an angel or spirit) to undo it. If God closes a door, it would take God to open it again. If an angel opens a door, it would be an angel that would be required to close it.

When the Lord opens a door for you, He is the only one who can close it (see Rev 3:8).

Death (corruption and entropy) came into this world through the sin of Adam. Because of this, things don't naturally grow better but grow old, get worse, and die. This is not consistent with God's nature and God's creation, man was not created to wear out, grow old, and die. But through sin, death, decay, and corruption came into the world.

It was through a man of great stature (pre-fallen glorified man) that death came into the world. In order for God to fix this very serious problem, God had to become a man like us, overcome death, and attain the requisite stature to fix this problem of death. The solution to the death that Adam introduced is the resurrection of the dead that Christ brings. This resurrection is different from the ordinary resurrection that happens to dead people now, it is a resurrection into glory, a resurrection from the corruptible to the incorruptible, from mortality to immortality (see 1 Corinthians 15:42-44).

Adam caused the problem that no other human had the capacity to fix, but in Jesus, God came to fix the problem and all who believe in Him will have everlasting life.

Go into today thanking the Lord for His great love that makes you have the hope of everlasting life in a body that cannot die or grow old.

Serve the Lord and be Free

Exodus 8:1 (KJV) And the LORD spake unto Moses, Go unto Pharaoh, and say unto him, Thus saith the LORD, Let my people go, that they may serve me.

After spending about four hundred years in Egypt, the children of Israel began to cry out to God for freedom because their pain and suffering under the Egyptian taskmasters had become unbearable. God heard their cries and decided to deliver them (Exodus 3:7-8), but He needed a justifiable reason for their deliverance, which He found in this: *“that they may serve me.”

The most justifiable reason for your freedom is so that you can serve God. If you choose not to serve Him, you are, in essence, rejecting freedom. Many, after receiving Christ, continue to suffer oppression because they have not fully committed themselves to God's service. By refusing to give God access to certain areas of their lives, they unwittingly allow the devil to oppress them in those very areas.

The simplest and surest path to deliverance is to immerse yourself in service to God. Exodus 23:22 (KJV) says, *“But if thou shalt indeed obey his voice, and do all that I speak; then I will be an enemy unto thine enemies, and an adversary unto thine adversaries.” But how does this happen? By loving and serving God with all your heart and soul (Deuteronomy 11:13).

Exodus 19:5-6 (KJV) reads, “Now therefore if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people: for all the earth is mine: and ye shall be unto me a kingdom of priests, and an holy nation.”

Exodus 23:25-26 (KJV) adds, “And ye shall serve the LORD your God, and he shall bless thy bread, and thy water; and I will take sickness away from the midst of thee. There shall nothing cast their young, nor be barren, in thy land: the number of thy days I will fulfill.”

Go into today knowing that true freedom comes when you completely surrender the areas of your life that are under contention to God in service.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, I choose to serve You with my whole heart. As I serve You, I receive all-around freedom. Amen!

You Belong to Christ

Watch today's video: streamglobe.org/vid4139
1 Corinthians 3:21-23 (NET) So then, no more boasting about mere mortals! For everything belongs to you, whether Paul or Apollos or Cephas or the world or life or death or the present or the future. Everything belongs to you, and you belong to Christ, and Christ belongs to God.

After experiencing the dark side of life for many years, Lamide was humbled and open to accepting the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. When someone preached to her, she accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior.

Understanding the significance of accepting Christ as her Lord, Lamide left her boyfriend's house and rented her own apartment. She repented of her old ways and became fully consecrated to the Lord. As she grew in faith, she realized that because Christ was now her Lord, all things that belong to Christ were under her authority. She prayed with this mindset, and her prayers yielded powerful results. The evil spell cast by her enemies was destroyed, and she was now free to walk in her glorious destiny.

Many times, believers are not powerful because they fail to realize that they belong to Christ and that, through Him, all things are under their control. Even the devil (the prince of this world) flees when believers who submit to Christ's authority resist him (see James 4:7). A believer who lives in disobedience to Christ cannot wield His authority because they are not submitted to it.

As you go into today, remember that you belong to Christ, and because of this, all things [that belong to Christ] belong to you. Ask the Lord to teach you to walk in this reality.

According to the grace you have

1 Corinthians 3:10 (NET): "According to the grace of God given to me, like a skilled master-builder I laid a foundation, but someone else builds on it. And each one must be careful how he builds."

For several months, Jordan was almost frustrated in ministry because, although he led many to accept the Lord Jesus, he found that few were growing in their faith. As a result, many drifted back into the world.

As Jordan grew in ministry, he realized that the grace given to him was more about laying the foundation than building on it. Others had the grace to build on the foundation, and he learned to make room for their ministry. He became much more effective when he stopped laboring in areas where the Lord had not given him grace.

Similarly, Apostle Paul laid the foundation of God’s building work in Corinth, while others built upon it. Paul understood his grace and operated within it.

As ministers of the gospel, it’s crucial to recognize the specific grace given to us and to operate within that grace. Many have struggled in ministry because they did not discern and stay within the ambit of their grace. It’s like a fish struggling to run on land like a squirrel.

If you’re reading this and thinking, “I can do all things in ministry, like an amphibian,” I encourage you to reflect on Romans 12:3.

Go into today asking the Lord to help you know and operate within the ambit of your grace.

The Cripple Who Found God's Kindness

2 Samuel 9:3 (KJV): “And the king said, Is there not yet any of the house of Saul, that I may shew the kindness of God unto him? And Ziba said unto the king, Jonathan hath yet a son, which is lame on his feet."

I know of a poor palm wine tapper who couldn’t get married because no woman wanted to live with him. Eventually, he secured a job as a caretaker for an abandoned government property. One day, thieves attempted to steal from the property, but he caught them in the act. To his surprise, the office of the president called him and rewarded him with a large sum of money. With this money, he purchased a plot of land, built a two-bedroom apartment, bought himself a motorcycle, and has lived on what was left.

Mephibosheth, the subject of today’s text, was crippled in his feet but found his way to the palace because of the covenant between his father, Jonathan, and King David. All he had to do was accept the king’s invitation.

A covenant has been enacted between God and His Son, Jesus Christ. This covenant can bring you into God’s palace if, like Mephibosheth, you accept Jesus’ invitation. It does not matter who you are or what people call you; what is important is accepting Jesus’ invitation. If you do, He will lead you into His Father’s palace.

The Psalmist speaks of God, saying, “Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore" (Psalm 16:11 KJV). Once you’ve found the path of life, it will lead you into the place of joy and pleasure.

Go into today knowing that no sin or challenge is too difficult for God to handle if you can find your way into His presence. This is only possible through His Son, Jesus Christ.

Control Your Desires

James 1:14-15 (ESV) “But each person is tempted when he is lured and enticed by his own desire. Then desire when it has conceived gives birth to sin, and sin when it is fully grown brings forth death."

Cain and Abel were brothers, and one day they both brought an offering to God. They each presented what they considered good. Abel and his offering were accepted, while Cain and his offering were rejected. The outcome of Cain's offering should have been a clear message: he needed to find out what God truly desired so that his next offering would be accepted. Instead, he allowed his desire to kill his brother to take root. God, however, interrupted this dangerous desire, warning Cain that he could still stop his evil intention before it led to sin (see Genesis 4:6-7). Despite this warning, Cain chose to act on his desire, which resulted in sin, and ultimately, he was driven out of God's presence.

We do not sin simply because we are tempted; we sin because we yield to temptation. Sin cannot force itself upon a believer; it seeks cooperation, which it gains by taking advantage of our desires. If we learn to control our desires, they will not lead to sin. However, if we do not, these unchecked desires will inevitably produce sin.

Desires are a product of the mind. A renewed mind will produce renewed desires, while an unrenewed mind will produce unrenewed desires that lead to sin.

If you want to live a sin-free life, you must learn to control your desires. You can achieve this by renewing your mind (Romans 12:2) through the truth of God’s word (Ephesians 5:26).

Go into today knowing that the secret to a sin-free life is to continuously renew your mind through the word of God. Make the word of God the standard for your life.

Prayer: Dear Lord, as I commit myself to studying your word, open my eyes to see the truth that will renew my heart.

Unshakable Hope in Christ

2 Corinthians 13:5 (NET): "Put yourselves to the test to see if you are in the faith; examine yourselves! Or do you not recognize regarding yourselves that Jesus Christ is in you – unless, indeed, you fail the test!"

Briana: Gloria, why are you always filled with joy despite everything happening around us and in this country? It’s like you don’t have any problems at all. Please tell me your secret. I want to have the hope and peace that you have.

Gloria: The Lord is my source of peace. My hope is not tied to this world but to the Kingdom of God, which will soon reign over this world. I have an inheritance in that Kingdom, and its power is already at work in me. That’s why I have hope and joy. Even if things don’t improve in this country or the world, my peace isn’t affected because my portion is not tied to this present world.

One way to examine if you are still in the faith is to see if your heart is filled with the blessed hope of the Lord’s return and the glory that will be revealed in us (Titus 2:13). This hope keeps us holy and focused on doing the Lord’s will, knowing He will reward us (Titus 2:13-14, 1 John 3:3, Revelation 22:12). The Holy Spirit reminds us of these truths, keeping us in a state of joyful expectation because we are children of God.

If Christ no longer lives in a person, they will lose all hope. Christ in us is the hope of glory (Colossians 1:27). This hope is why we have joy and peace, no matter what we face, because we know we are more than conquerors through Christ. In the end, we win. The devil has no power over our inheritance in Christ. That’s why, regardless of what the devil does, our hope remains intact, producing joy in our souls.

Remember to honor the Lord in your heart and always be ready to explain the hope you possess (1 Peter 3:15). Regular self-examination and guarding against the cares of this life will help preserve the blessed hope you have in Christ.

Prayer: Lord, thank you for doing more for me than I could ever imagine. Help me remain in your love and bask in your peace. Let me never forget the purpose for which you have called me. Amen.

Overcoming Spiritual Dryness

Broadcast 4134
Listen to today's audio (with audio Bible): streamglobe.org/aud4134
Watch today's video: streamglobe.org/vid4134
Hebrews 6:1-2 (KJV): "Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God, of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment."
Patrick had a very unstable spiritual life. One day he would be fervent in his faith, and the next day he would be cold. He could not recall a single year where his spiritual life was stable for even six months. Despite his desire to serve the Lord and fulfill his divine purpose, he became deeply troubled because, despite all his efforts—fasting and praying with tears—his spiritual life continued to swing like a pendulum, hot one day, cold the next.

Many believers, like Patrick, experience similar struggles, and it isn’t entirely their fault. The root of the problem is often a faulty foundation. Just as with any building, the foundation of your Christian doctrine determines how stable your spiritual life will be. Our Lord Jesus likened those who build their lives according to His Word to a wise man who built his house on a rock-solid foundation (see Matthew 7:24-27). The Apostle Paul referred to believers in Corinth as God’s building (1 Corinthians 3:9). He also described himself as a wise master builder who laid the foundation (1 Corinthians 3:10). Paul understood that his primary role was to establish the foundation of Christian doctrine.

In today’s scripture, we see six components that form the foundation of Christian doctrine. If a believer lacks understanding in any of these areas, they have a faulty foundation, which may lead to cracks and instability in their spiritual life.

Repentance from dead works is a crucial element of this foundation. Some modern preachers teach that repentance is merely a change of mind toward God, without necessarily impacting one’s conduct. This is only half true. There is indeed repentance toward God, but as today's scripture points out, there is also "repentance from dead works." If a person claims to believe in God but does not forsake sinful ways, they have not truly believed.

As you go about your day, remember that if the foundations are destroyed, what can the righteous do? Many believers, who have been declared righteous because of their faith in Christ, struggle spiritually due to a faulty foundation.

Prayer: Lord, in this season, please reinforce the spiritual foundations of many believers. Amen.

Gifts and Fruitfulness: Faith

Daniel 2:16 (NET)  So Daniel went in and requested the king to grant him time, that he might disclose the interpretation to the king.

Lanre found himself in a difficult situation. After the Wednesday midweek service, just as everyone was saying the grace, he clearly heard in his spirit, “Go and meet Bosun, I have a word for him.” But Lanre was torn. How could a 19-year-old like him approach the Choir leader? What would he even say? What if he went to Bosun and no further words came, leaving him looking foolish? How could he be sure this wasn't just his imagination playing tricks on him? What should Lanre do? More importantly, what would you do?

In today's text, the king had already ordered the execution of all the wise men and astrologers of Babylon because they couldn’t tell him his dream or its interpretation. The astrologers and wise men of Babylon had protested that such a task was only possible for the gods, whose dwelling was not with men—they simply didn’t know any better. But Daniel went to the king, asking for time so he could come up with the dream and its interpretation. Note that when Daniel approached the king, he had neither the dream nor its interpretation, but he had something far more powerful—faith. He had faith in the God of heaven and believed that he could receive the revelation from the Lord.

To be fruitful with your gifts, you must have faith that the gift of God can and will flow through you. Take a cue from Peter and John in Acts 3:6, 12, 16.

Go into today with the reminder that the power is not yours but Jesus’, and He has given you the authority to use His power. Have faith that this power will flow through you, and by doing so, give expression to your gifts.

Prayer: Lord, please help my unbelief and help me walk in my gifts.

We Are Christ's Body

1 Corinthians 12:27 (NET) Now you are Christ’s body, and each of you is a member of it.

Sandra struggled with a deep sense of inferiority due to her upbringing. Her mother often made her feel less talented and valuable than her sisters, emphasizing that she wasn’t as beautiful or outgoing as they were.

Even after Sandra became a believer in the Lord Jesus, she continued to wrestle with feelings of inferiority and insecurity. This persisted until she encountered a teaching based on today's Bible verse. She learned that her salvation was not a coincidence and that her very existence was part of God's predestined plan for her, set in motion before the foundation of the world (see Ephesians 1:4; Revelation 17:8; 13:8). She realized that she was now a member of the body of Christ, and no member of Christ’s body should ever feel inferior in this world because "as He is, so also are we in this world" (1 John 4:17).

All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to the Lord Jesus (Matthew 28:18), and as a member of His body, you share in this authority. Being part of the body of Christ means that no sickness, demon, or situation can overpower you before your time. You are more than a conqueror because you belong to Christ’s body (Romans 8:37).

Believers who embrace this truth are the ones who truly walk in it. They expect life to respond to them the way it would respond to Christ, because they are members of His body. When believers come together in unity, they can invoke the full power of Christ’s body, for we are collectively His body (see Matthew 16:19; Matthew 18:18; John 20:23).

Go into today with the confession and constant reminder that you are a member of the body of Christ. Expect life to respond to you differently because of this reality, activated through faith.

Prayer: Lord, help me to see myself as You see me.

Apprehending Divine Wisdom

James 3:14-15 (NET): "But if you have bitter jealousy and selfishness in your hearts, do not boast and tell lies against the truth. Such wisdom does not come from above but is earthly, natural, demonic."
Henry considered himself very wise because he knew how to get things done and maximize his opportunities and resources. However, his real motivation was self-aggrandizement and envy. He constantly sought to outperform his peers. Even after becoming a believer and a minister of the gospel, he attempted to use worldly wisdom to accomplish the work of God. Despite the outward success of his ministry, Henry found that he was missing something crucial—he was not able to raise true disciples of the Lord, even though many people surrounded him. This realization troubled him, as he knew he was not building according to God's pattern.

There is wisdom from God and wisdom from the world. As believers, we have the privilege of walking in the supreme wisdom of God. However, the wisdom that the natural man walks in is what is described in today’s scripture. It is the wisdom of the world, and we all inadvertently followed it before we were saved.

Those born of God have access to the superior wisdom of God. This wisdom enables us to walk in God's will and bear fruit unto eternal life. For example, great wisdom is required to win souls and properly disciple them. If we do not tap into the divine wisdom available to us, we may find, painfully, that we are unable to make true disciples of Christ no matter how hard we try.

The truth is, if we are not deliberate about disconnecting from the wisdom of this world, we will not be able to apprehend and walk in the wisdom of God. Moreover, it is impossible to walk in both the wisdom of the world and the wisdom of God simultaneously.

Wisdom helps us achieve our goals within the time and resources available to us. Evaluating our goals in life will help us determine which wisdom we have subscribed to. If your goals align with those of the world, then you have subscribed to the wisdom of this world, no matter how religious you may appear.

Go into today determined to purify your goals and motives according to God's truth. As you do, you will naturally align with the wisdom of God.

Jesus our high priest

Hebrews 2:16-18 (KJV) says, "For verily he took not on him the nature of angels; but he took on him the seed of Abraham. Wherefore in all things it behoved him to be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people. For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succour them that are tempted."

Demian was so overwhelmed by his trials and temptations that he stopped attending student fellowship and became inaccessible to his brethren. He felt that no one understood him and feared they would judge him. As an only child who had fallen into drug addiction early in life, Demian never felt loved until he met Grace, who invited him to fellowship. He became close to the brethren there, started attending fellowship regularly, and eventually accepted the Lord Jesus. But after certain issues arose in the fellowship, and some carnal brethren acted in ways that disillusioned him, Demian began to feel that faith and fellowship were just a charade. Despite this, he had truly accepted the Lord Jesus and established a solid relationship with Him.

One night, as Demian flipped through TV channels, he landed on TBN, where a preacher was teaching from today's Bible verse. At that moment, he realized that even though his brethren might not understand him, he had a high priest who did. From that point on, Demian began talking to Jesus and making scriptural confessions. He noticed that each time he did, his soul was uplifted, and the pressure and depression lifted from his heart.

Demian was saved from the despair that the devil wanted to drag him into because he understood the priestly ministry of Jesus and chose to relate to Him from that perspective.

Do you know that you have a high priest who understands you and wants to help you? Don't let the devil ever make you feel like you're alone. In the spiritual realm, there are more on your side than against you. The angels of God far outnumber the principalities and powers that want you to fail.

Go into today remembering that the way to connect with God's help is by coming to Jesus, your high priest, in confession and surrender. Let Him know exactly how you feel and ask Him to help you. Remember, He shed His blood for you, so there's nothing He cannot do for you.

Prayer: Lord, help me never forget that you're on my side to help me and not condemn me. Please strengthen me to know your love and live an empowered life.

Planting Season

Ecclesiastes 3:1-2 (NET) says, "For everything there is an appointed time, and an appropriate time for every activity on earth: A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant and a time to uproot what was planted."

Growing up in the village, harvesting season was always a joyful time. I remember accompanying my grandmother and others to the farm to harvest yams. We would gather around a small thatch hut on the farm, and after harvesting for a while, we’d build a fire and roast some yams. We’d eat them with red oil mixed with freshly plucked pepper and salt. You could see the satisfaction on my grandparents' faces as the yams piled up in the barns by the riverside. But none of this would have been possible if we hadn’t planted during the right season.

The natural world often reflects spiritual truths. The Bible teaches us in Ecclesiastes that there are specific seasons and appropriate times for every purpose on earth. Just as there’s a correct time to plant certain crops, there are also appropriate times for planting spiritual seeds.

In parenting, the formative years (ages 0 to 6) are the planting season for instilling morals and home training in a child. In terms of career, childhood and youth are the right times to pursue education. For family life, the Bible speaks of the wife of one’s youth, emphasizing that youth is an appropriate season for starting a family.

When we consider life from an eternal perspective, we realize that our time on earth is our planting season. Jesus told a parable about a man who planted wheat, but while men slept, the enemy sowed weeds. Jesus instructed to let them grow together until the harvest, referring to the time of His return and the judgment of the world.

Our time on earth is when we plant and sow what we will reap in eternity. This time can be divided into day and night—youthful years and later years of life. More productive planting is done during the day so that as evening approaches, one can focus on nurturing, weeding, and watering the seeds sown.

What are you doing with your planting season? If you do not take advantage of it, you will reap sorrow and regrets.

Go into today determined to fulfill God’s plan for your life while it is still day, for night comes when no one can plant. Harvest time beckons; start planting now.

Fellowship in truth

Broadcast 4128

1 John 1:3-4 (NET) What we have seen and heard we announce to you too, so that you may have fellowship with us (and indeed our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son Jesus Christ). Thus we are writing these things so that our joy may be complete.

Have you noticed that no matter how much you love some people, if your level of knowledge and understanding is significantly higher than theirs, it may be difficult to engage in deep, meaningful conversations? You may find that you connect more with others who share your level of understanding, even if you don’t love them as deeply as those with whom you don’t share that same level of understanding.

In today’s Bible verses, we see that one of the reasons Apostle John wrote 1 John was to upgrade the understanding of the believers so that they could have better fellowship. With a shared understanding of the truth, their fellowship would be richer and more fulfilling.

One of the most important goals of discipleship is to bring believers into a deeper understanding of the truth. There is a way Jesus thinks, and as His disciples, we are called to grow in our understanding to become more like Him. As we do, our fellowship with Him deepens.

Even though God loves all of us, we may not be able to walk closely with Him if we don’t align our thinking with His. Two cannot walk together unless they agree.

One of the proofs that we are becoming like Christ is that we are more able to have meaningful fellowship with other believers who are also growing in Christ. As we grow in Christlikeness, we will also find that our fellowship with God deepens (see John 14:23).

Go into today remembering that as becoming like Christ remains your ultimate goal, you will find deeper fellowship with other believers who are also growing in Christ, and your fellowship with the Father will grow richer and deeper.

Find Grace Before Trouble Comes

Broadcast 4127
Listen to today's audio (with audio Bible): streamglobe.org/aud4127
Watch today's video: streamglobe.org/vid4127
Hebrews 4:15-16 (KJV): “For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need."

It had been seven years since Stephen believed, but he was still struggling with the same sins. He had cried, prayed, fasted, and confessed to God and to brethren many times, but the sin just didn’t go away. At some point, he thought he wasn't genuinely born again, so he answered the call to rededicate his life to Jesus, hoping that the long-standing sin would be conquered. But that also didn’t work. After trying everything he thought he knew, he gave up. “I'll never be able to overcome this sin; I'll just keep asking for forgiveness whenever I commit it," he concluded.

Many youngsters like Stephen have quit trying, and others have found solace in false teachings that soothe their condition of defeat. Teachings that say things like, “sin is no longer a problem; it won’t take a man to hell because it has been destroyed.”

Can one truly be free from sin? Yes, because the Bible says so: “sin shall have no dominion over you” (Romans 6:14). But how does one come to this state?

From today's text, it is clear that both mercy and grace are available at the throne of grace. If you've ever been forgiven, it happened because you obtained God's mercy, and that was possible because you accessed the throne of grace. Many, however, who obtained mercy at the throne of grace did not wait to find grace before leaving, and when the time of need arrived, they failed.

If all you get is forgiveness (mercy), you will fail again when confronted with the same sin or issue because mercy is God's distress response—it gets you out of distress on a ‘per-time’ basis. His mercies are new every morning (Lamentations 3:22-23). Grace, however, must be obtained before the day of need or trouble. Grace gives the ability to resist sin and overcome it. This ability must be learned, requiring time, unlike mercy, which is instantaneous. Remember, it is grace that teaches us how to live righteously, godly, and sober lives in this present world (Titus 2:11-12), and time is needed if learning must be accomplished.

Go into today determined to remain at the throne of grace until you have found grace to help in time of need.

Prayer: Father, help me to wait upon you until the grace for my need comes, in Jesus' name. Amen!

John 15:7-8 (NET) If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you want, and it will be done for you. My Father is honored by this, that you bear much fruit and show that you are my disciples.

Elijah used to be very depressed and unhappy. He was always competing with his peer group from his village and didn’t have peace of mind. It wasn't until he accepted the Lord Jesus and was determined to abide in Him that he experienced true peace for the first time in his adult life. For the first time, he was committed to a church assembly and accountable to the brethren there. He was also committed to living a life that pleases the Lord in all things and growing in the knowledge of the Lord.

Elijah became a subject of the kingdom of God and started reaping the benefits of eternal life because he remained in Christ and did not return to the world like he had during previous times when he had come out to receive the Lord Jesus. He also began to enjoy divine health and found that God was answering his prayers.

Any believer who does not abide in the Lord will be unfruitful, and this will not be the Lord's fault. One reason why God answers our prayers and fulfills our desires is that we live under His authority and obey His commands. God does not respond to those who do not respond to Him in obedience.

As you go into the day, remember that you are not alone in this world if Christ is your Lord. Remember that the secret of your success now lies in your connection to Christ and your meditation on His word.

Prayer: Lord, please help me remain in you and let your word rule my life. Empower me to be fruitful in every good work and to please you in all regards.

John 15:7 (NET) "If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you want, and it will be done for you."

After Elijah believed in the Lord Jesus and submitted himself to discipleship, he was excited to learn the truth in John 15:7. He was thrilled because he believed that since he was now abiding in the Lord, there was nothing he asked for that God wouldn't give him. So, he went ahead and asked the Lord for the dream car he had always fantasized about. But after waiting for months, it became evident that the Lord wasn't going to grant that particular request at that time. Confused, he decided to ask his pastor why God didn't grant his request, even though he was abiding in Christ.

His pastor asked him a simple question: "I know you're now abiding in the Lord, and it is evident because you have repented and are now abiding in His church, which is His body. But is His word truly abiding in you?"

Elijah realized that even though he could claim to be abiding in Christ, the word of Christ was not yet richly dwelling in him. He couldn't yet lay claim to the promise of John 15:7. Determined to change this, he decided to study the Word, listen to sermons, read books, and apply all diligence to fill his heart with the word of Christ (Colossians 3:16).

As he immersed himself in the Word, he noticed that his desires started changing. He realized that buying a Lamborghini was no longer a priority. Instead, he began to desire the things that God desires. He noticed that because his desires now aligned with the Lord's, it became easier for his prayers to be answered, as they now reflected God's will.

God does not usually answer prayers that are outside His will (1 John 5:14). The surest way to have prayers answered is to ensure that your requests align with God's will. The Word of God is His tool for sanctifying us and transforming us into His nature so that His will naturally becomes our will. Any believer who doesn't prioritize building their life according to God's Word will find that many of their prayers remain unanswered, and they will be unfruitful.

Go into today remembering that allowing the word of Christ to dwell in you richly is the only way to prosper in His kingdom. It is not an option for the believer; it is the only way to grow.

Prayer: Lord, from this day, help me give more priority to Your Word so that I may become more like You. Deliver me from all the distractions that seek my affection.

Be sober, be vigilant

Broadcast 4124

1 Peter 5:8 (KJV) "Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour."

When Angie traveled to her village during the Christmas holidays last year, she did so with a lot of prayer and spiritual diligence. She was well aware of the spiritual wickedness that existed in the village. She recalled the stories her grandmother told her about the activities of witches in the area and remembered what happened to her second cousin, who became temporarily insane after visiting the village and being careless.

While in the village, Angie remained vigilant and prayerful. She avoided unnecessary conversations, arguments, and quarrels. Situations that would normally upset her were overlooked because she was in "vigilance mode." She refused to watch any movie that was not spiritually edifying and stayed in a constant state of prayer.

Angie spent two weeks in the village, attending a wedding, and returned to the city unscathed. During her time there, her spirit grew stronger, her faith deepened, and she even experienced better physical health than she had in a long time. Remarkably, she didn't need to use her asthma inhaler, which she typically relied on almost daily.

Angie's vigilance and sobriety during her time in the village were due to her awareness of the spiritual dangers there. Her prayer life and engagement with God's Word intensified as a result. The truth is that every believer should maintain the same level of sobriety and vigilance as Angie, recognizing that as long as we are in this world, Satan, the prince of this world, is our adversary who roams around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.

Today's Bible verse reminds us that we must stay in "vigilance mode" throughout our lives. This is the key to remaining unscathed and even prospering despite the enemy's attempts to harm us.

Being sober does not mean being fearful or anxious; it means being wise and intentional about staying in God's presence and avoiding anything that could defile or weaken us spiritually.

Go into today remembering that the only way to navigate this world successfully and remain unscathed as a child of the kingdom is to heed the warning of today's Bible verse. Activate your vigilance mode and never deactivate it again.

Prayer: Lord, please help me to be sober and vigilant at all times. Help me to never fall prey to the wickedness of the enemy but rather to prosper in the midst of it. Amen.

Acts 1:8 (NET) "But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the farthest parts of the earth."

After Eric received the revelation that made him realize he was now a new creature because of his faith in Christ Jesus, he knew that he needed to be filled with the Holy Spirit. He kept reading books about the Holy Spirit and realized that the Holy Spirit is the secret to holiness. Anyone truly filled with the Holy Spirit will be holy.

Eric didn’t just want to receive the infilling of the Holy Spirit; he wanted to remain filled for the rest of his life. He knew that was the only way he could avoid backsliding. Staying on fire for God became his biggest priority in life. He sought this with all his heart, determined not to be a slave to sin any longer. He loved his newfound freedom in Christ and the boldness and authority it brought. He was no longer tormented by demons but now had the power to cast them out.

I have come to realize that if many Christians sought the Kingdom of God with the same intensity they seek wealth, they would become so powerful that their world would be set on fire for Christ. You cannot seek the Kingdom of God without also seeking His righteousness. This righteousness is ministered to your spirit by the Holy Ghost, who empowers you to walk above sin in this world.

Go into today remembering that the Holy Spirit empowers you to be holy. Seeking the Kingdom of God also means seeking to be filled with the Spirit at all times.

Prayer: Ask the Lord to help you be filled with the Holy Spirit at all times (see Ephesians 5:18-20).

2 Corinthians 5:17 (NET) "So then, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; what is old has passed away—look, what is new has come!"
After Eric had been a believer for two years, he looked back at his past life to see if there was any difference. To his disappointment, he couldn't find much change. He was still bound by iniquity and felt like the same old Eric. This led him to doubt whether he was truly saved. "How can I be born again and still be doing these things?" he would ask himself repeatedly.

Believing that he needed deliverance, Eric went from pastor to pastor seeking it. Each pastor he visited prayed for him and assured him he had been delivered, but he still found himself returning to his old sins and habits. He deeply desired to serve God and live a holy life, but his desire alone didn't seem strong enough to break free from his old ways.

One day, Eric saw a post on Facebook that made him realize he was already a new creation because of his faith in Christ. While he had been trying to become a new creation, he hadn't understood that being a new creation was something God had already made him through Christ, not something he had to achieve on his own. This revelation changed his life. He immediately understood that he needed to change his friends because he was now a new creature. He also realized he had the power to say "NO" to sin because of his new identity. He began to ask himself, "Would a new creature do this?" and found the strength to resist temptations.

Go into today knowing that understanding who you are in Christ is crucial. An eagle that believes it is a chicken will never fly high.

False Sense of Security

1 Corinthians 4:8 (NET) Already you are satisfied! Already you are rich! You have become kings without us! I wish you had become kings so that we could reign with you!

Gbenga and his wife were fond of criticizing and judging servants of God. They were experts at finding faults in men of God and criticizing them, often based on false assumptions and partial truths. They felt they had the authority to do this because they believed they were spiritually strong and important in the kingdom of God, thinking that their material prosperity was a sign of their spiritual might. But they were wrong. In reality, they were still spiritual babes who needed to learn the basics of the faith. However, their mindset made them unteachable and unfruitful.

The young church in Corinth, like the church in Laodicea (Revelation 3:17), began to have a false sense of security because of their worldly riches. Physically, they were doing well and had money, leading them to believe that their material success was a sign of their advancement and greatness in God's kingdom. Many of them thought they had become kings and rulers in the kingdom, giving them the authority to judge the servants of God and compare one to another (see 1 Corinthians 4:3-6). But they were mistaken; they were still spiritual babes (see 1 Corinthians 3:1) and were heading for trouble without the apostolic intervention of Paul.

If criticizing ministers of God has become your "spiritual gift," it is a sign of spiritual immaturity and retrogression.

Go into today remembering that the real measure of spiritual might is faithfulness and humility.

Brotherly Love and Charity

Broadcast 4120
Listen to today's audio (with audio Bible): streamglobe.org/aud4120
Watch today's Vidoe: streamglobe.org/vid4120
Hebrews 13:1-2 (NET) Brotherly love must continue. Do not neglect hospitality, because through it some have entertained angels without knowing it.

Have you ever come in contact with someone you immediately liked because they reminded you of someone you know and love? The reason you favor such people has nothing to do with them personally; it’s simply because they bring to mind someone you truly care about.

I have experienced situations where I am naturally inclined to favor someone simply because they resemble someone I know and love. The favor and kindness these people received from me were simply because they reminded me of someone I deeply cared for.

But what is the difference between brotherly love and charity in Scripture?

Charity refers to the care, kindness, and consideration we show to others because they are human beings created in the image of our heavenly Father. Since people bear the image of God, we are called to love them, knowing that our Father loves them too. Loving others because they reflect God’s image is not just a good idea; it’s a requirement. Scripture even describes it as a debt we owe (see Romans 13:8).

Brotherly love, on the other hand, goes deeper. It is the love we show to fellow believers because they are our brothers and sisters in Christ. This love is akin to the natural affection that exists between siblings who share a common family heritage. When we give to our spiritual siblings, we are, in a sense, giving to ourselves because we see them as part of us. The bond that unites believers is stronger than flesh and blood; it’s a shared destiny that transcends time and space. Believers who do not recognize this truth and act contrary to it do so at their own peril. For instance, 1 Corinthians 11:30 reveals that many believers are weak and some even fall asleep (a euphemism for death) because they do not rightly discern the Lord’s body.

Go into today remembering that you have a responsibility to show love to all people because they bear the image of our Father. You also have an even greater obligation to love your Christian brethren, not just because they bear the image of our Father, but because we are all part of one body and members of the same family.

Galatians 5:17-18 (NET) For the flesh has desires that are opposed to the Spirit, and the Spirit has desires that are opposed to the flesh, for these are in opposition to each other, so that you cannot do what you want. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.
Because Dave now understood that he was walking in the flesh and not living in a manner that pleased the Lord, he tried to remedy this problem. He became more conscious of rules and regulations that he believed would help him stay within the will of God. But this was not working because he was assuming that his right standing with God was based on his performance. He found freedom when he realized that his right standing with God was because of Christ Jesus and his faith in Him. He was now accepted as a child of God in God's family through God's grace. Walking in the Holiness of God was now a consequence of this reality not a the other way round. This understanding was his breakthrough in walking in the Spirit. He no longer struggled to walk in His divine nature.

The laws of God stem from the nature of God. The laws of God given by Moses were an attempt to cause sinful man to walk in the nature of God. The problem, however, was that sinful man did not have the capacity to walk in the divine nature without a change of heart. The law ended up revealing our pitiful state of hopelessness in attaining the righteousness of God by our own strength.

Through the sacrifice of Christ Jesus, we are brought into the new covenant. In the new covenant, God gives us a new heart and a new spirit where He pre-encodes His law and His nature (see Ezekiel 36:26 and Hebrews 8:8-13). The regenerated spirit that God gives us in the new covenant has the capacity to walk in the divine nature and truly please God.

Go into today thanking God for counting you worthy to be a partaker of His grace. His grace is the reason why you can be a partaker of the new covenant and walk in the divine nature. Bringing sons into His nature and glory had always been God's goal for making man.

Called to Reign

Romans 5:17 (NET): For if, by the transgression of the one man, death reigned through the one, how much more will those who receive the abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one, Jesus Christ!

Sally understood that the life she was living was not that of an overcomer or of someone described in today's Bible verse who reigns in life with Christ. She was defeated everywhere. Her health was poor, her marriage relationship in shambles, and she was covered in financial debt. As a believer, she knew something was wrong somewhere but didn't know how to help herself.

She started asking the Lord many questions, and soon she realized that the reason she was so defeated in life was because of her little understanding of the abundance of Christ's grace and the gift of righteousness. She immediately knew that it was time for her to be given to learning. She hit the bookstore and bought many titles she knew would fill her with the word of faith and the word of righteousness.

The extent of the understanding of Christ's grace we have is the extent to which we would appropriate the dimensions of its realities.

Believers who are very ignorant are the believers who suffer unnecessarily the most (see Hosea 4:6, Proverbs 5:23). The biggest hindrances to being filled with the knowledge of God's will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding are lack of proper exposure and presence of pride. Some are not willing to bend down and learn because they believe they know and are wise enough. That's why they continue to suffer for things that Christ has already paid for.

There is the receiving and appropriating of the abundance of grace and the gift of righteousness. The two go together. One who does not understand the gift of righteousness cannot understand and/or appropriate the abundance of Christ's grace. We shall look more at this next time.

Go into today remembering that the extent of understanding of the grace and riches we have in Christ is the extent to which we would walk in them. "And in thy getting, get understanding" (Prov 4:7).

Prayer: Lord, please open the eyes of my understanding, in Jesus' name. Amen. Pray with Ephesians 1:17-19.

Life in the Spirit 7

Broadcast 4117

Romans 8:11 (KJV): "But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you."

After Dayo was delivered and could now resist the temptation to indulge in certain sinful habits, he realized that even though his soul was delivered, his flesh was still used to committing those sins and still craved them. Even though the spirits that made those habits very compulsive and impossible for him to resist were now expelled, Dayo found that his flesh was now his biggest problem, and he could not cast out his flesh.

Dayo had made some new friends who were in the habit of praying in the Spirit every night on campus. He discovered that each time he joined them to pray, his flesh was now put in check and the craving for sin disappeared. Dayo now learned from experience that the way to keep the flesh from pulling him into sin [and death] is by the quickening of the Holy Spirit.

Temptations have two main sources: the flesh and demons. When a temptation becomes so compulsive that a believer does not have the ability to resist it, it is usually because a demon is now involved. Demons are often invited when people continue in sinful acts long enough. After the demons responsible for compulsive sins have been expelled, it is important for the believer to realize that the flesh loves to sin and will seek to bring him back into bondage all over again. The power of the Holy Spirit is the only remedy for the weakness of the flesh. The Holy Spirit quickens our mortal bodies, and by doing this, the weakness and craving for sin are suspended.

One way we allow the Holy Spirit to quicken us is by praying in the Spirit and being filled with the Spirit. Being filled with the Spirit has a lot to do with our daily habits and disciplines. See the dynamics of being filled with the Spirit in Ephesians 5:19-21. That's why the Lord instructs us to pray always. When we pray in the Spirit long enough, the power of the Spirit is multiplied within us.

Walking above Condemnation

Broadcast 4116

Romans 8:1-2 (KJV): "There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death."

Until the 13th century, the Bible was not divided into chapters and verses because the scriptures were not written that way. It was Archbishop Stephen Langton and Cardinal Hugo de Sancto Caro who developed different schemas for a systematic division of the Bible in the early 13th century. The system of Archbishop Langton formed the framework on which the modern chapter divisions are based. The first Bible in English to use both chapters and verses was the Geneva Bible, published in 1560. Even today, the best way to study scripture is not by isolating verses but by reading entire sections to get the main message. To properly understand Romans 8:1, it is suggested that a believer read at least Romans 8:1-13 to grasp the context.

Have you seen certain believers walking in rebellion and saying, "there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus"? It is because they have not read that verse in context or have been exposed to false teachers who teach licentiousness. Today's Bible verses reveal that there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus because the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made us free from the law of sin and death. A person still walking under the dominion and law of sin would still walk under condemnation, which is an act of mercy. If a believer feels no condemnation concerning willful sin, he would soon become spiritually dead without knowing it (see Romans 8:13). Lepers lose their limbs because they first lose the ability to feel pain in their limbs. The ability to feel pain is a protective measure from more danger to the body. The conscience is a protective measure for the spirit of man.

The law of sin and death operates in the ambiance of perpetual condemnation, but the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus operates in an ambiance of justification. For a believer to walk in the law of the Spirit of life (which is the only law/power that can make him free from the dominion/law of sin and death), he must understand that in Christ, he has been justified before God and declared righteous. He has been washed white and clean and given a new slate. He is now expected to walk in the newness of mind in accordance with the new life he has received (see Ephesians 4:22-24).

Go into today remembering that in Christ, there is freedom from the law of sin and death because the law of the Spirit of life is at work within us. If by any chance you dirty your garment, don't waste time getting it cleaned by repenting and forsaking that defiling sin. Then move on in justification—just as if you have never sinned.

Prayer: Lord, help me walk above the condemnation of the flesh and live a life ruled by the Spirit. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Faith Enhancing Virtues

Broadcast 4115

2 Peter 1:5-8 (KJV): "And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity. For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ."

Sandi had been a believer for many years, but her knowledge of God didn’t seem to be fruitful in her life. She was still sickly like all her unbeliever relatives, still living a life of fear like them, and still miserable from demonic assaults like them. Even though Sandi knew the Lord, her knowledge of God was not fruitful in her life because after attempting to add virtue to her faith, she didn’t add knowledge but stopped at the point of virtue. Unfortunately, because she didn’t add knowledge to her faith, she was a very ignorant, shallow-minded believer who criticized other believers who sought to add knowledge. She didn’t have depth in spiritual understanding even though she thought she did.

We see in today's Bible verse that it is if we add virtue, knowledge, temperance, patience, godliness, brotherly kindness, and charity to our faith that our knowledge of God would be fruitful. Many believers have lived fruitless lives because they did not strive towards maturity in their walk with the Lord.

Adding the aforementioned virtues to your faith has to be intentional and deliberate. That’s why there is a need for us to be told in today's verses. A time would come that you will have to determine to be good and kind to even people who don’t deserve it because you want to add goodness (virtue) to your faith. A time would come that you would determine to download sermons, buy books and read them, etc., because you want to add knowledge to your faith. A time would come that because you want to train yourself in the virtue of temperance (self-control), you will set regular schedules of fasting and prayer. A time would come that because you want to excel in the virtue of patience, you would determine for a season to stop asking God for pressing needs but to only give thanks and patiently wait for Him. A time would come that you would determine to talk less and be more committed to keeping your word because you want to excel in the virtue of godliness. A time would come that you would plan the needs of your Christian brethren into your budget because you want to excel in the virtue of brotherly kindness. A time would come that you would budget for giving to the less privileged, the orphans, the widows, etc., because you want to excel in the virtue of charity. That’s how to be deliberate in adding these virtues to your faith.

The Lord is telling us today that if we add these virtues to our faith, they would make us neither barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ (see 2 Peter 1:8).

Go into today determined to consciously add these virtues to your faith. They are like fertilizer that ensures the fruitfulness of your faith.

Prayer: Lord, help me to consciously add these virtues to my faith and live a fruitful life. Amen.

Life in the Spirit 6

Broadcast 4114
Listen to today's audio(with audio Bible): streamglobe.org/aud4112

Romans 8:9-10 (NET): "You, however, are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God lives in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, this person does not belong to him. But if Christ is in you, your body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is your life because of righteousness."

Dayo found it impossible to resist the urge to indulge in certain sinful habits harmful to his body. However, after he was delivered from the spirits responsible for those habits, he now had the ability to resist. This didn’t mean the temptation didn’t come, but he was now able to resist and no longer be overpowered by them.

People will always behave according to the nature of the spirit that is in them. This is also true for those filled with the Holy Spirit.

To be in the flesh means to be dominated and controlled by the sinful Adamic nature, but to be in the Spirit means to be controlled by the divine nature of righteousness that only those who have accepted Christ as Lord can receive through the indwelling Holy Spirit.

If the Holy Spirit dwells in a person, it means the person truly belongs to Christ. The Holy Spirit can only dwell within a person by that person's permission. Those who belong to Christ are those who have willfully submitted to His lordship, and the Holy Spirit is given to them to administer Christ's lordship in their lives. That’s why He convicts us whenever we do things contrary to the will of Christ, and those who desire to continue to fellowship with Him will repent and forsake their sins. Anyone who is not willing to be governed by Christ cannot be filled with the Holy Spirit. Anyone who truly belongs to Christ will have the Spirit of God dwelling in him.

You may wonder about believers today who consistently live contrary to the will of Christ but still speak in tongues and demonstrate other notable spiritual gifts. Jesus says such believers are in for a shocker on judgment day (see Matthew 7:21-23). If the Spirit of Christ is in anyone, he will be dead to sin and alive to righteousness by the Spirit. The proof that a person is filled with the Holy Spirit is in their fruits, not their gifts (see Matthew 7:15-20).

Go into today remembering that a person cannot be truly filled with the Holy Spirit and continue to be unholy. A person takes on the nature of the spirit that possesses him. And by a person's habits and disciplines, he can inadvertently invite spirits into his life. Those who, by obedience to the Word of God, seek to live holy lives will be filled with the Holy Spirit who will come to assist them in being holy.
Prayer: Lord, help me live a Spirit-filled life. Amen.
