Gifts and Fruitfulness: Faith

Daniel 2:16 (NET)  So Daniel went in and requested the king to grant him time, that he might disclose the interpretation to the king.

Lanre found himself in a difficult situation. After the Wednesday midweek service, just as everyone was saying the grace, he clearly heard in his spirit, “Go and meet Bosun, I have a word for him.” But Lanre was torn. How could a 19-year-old like him approach the Choir leader? What would he even say? What if he went to Bosun and no further words came, leaving him looking foolish? How could he be sure this wasn't just his imagination playing tricks on him? What should Lanre do? More importantly, what would you do?

In today's text, the king had already ordered the execution of all the wise men and astrologers of Babylon because they couldn’t tell him his dream or its interpretation. The astrologers and wise men of Babylon had protested that such a task was only possible for the gods, whose dwelling was not with men—they simply didn’t know any better. But Daniel went to the king, asking for time so he could come up with the dream and its interpretation. Note that when Daniel approached the king, he had neither the dream nor its interpretation, but he had something far more powerful—faith. He had faith in the God of heaven and believed that he could receive the revelation from the Lord.

To be fruitful with your gifts, you must have faith that the gift of God can and will flow through you. Take a cue from Peter and John in Acts 3:6, 12, 16.

Go into today with the reminder that the power is not yours but Jesus’, and He has given you the authority to use His power. Have faith that this power will flow through you, and by doing so, give expression to your gifts.

Prayer: Lord, please help my unbelief and help me walk in my gifts.
