Exodus 8:1 (KJV) And the LORD spake unto Moses, Go unto Pharaoh, and say unto him, Thus saith the LORD, Let my people go, that they may serve me.

After spending about four hundred years in Egypt, the children of Israel began to cry out to God for freedom because their pain and suffering under the Egyptian taskmasters had become unbearable. God heard their cries and decided to deliver them (Exodus 3:7-8), but He needed a justifiable reason for their deliverance, which He found in this: *“that they may serve me.”

The most justifiable reason for your freedom is so that you can serve God. If you choose not to serve Him, you are, in essence, rejecting freedom. Many, after receiving Christ, continue to suffer oppression because they have not fully committed themselves to God's service. By refusing to give God access to certain areas of their lives, they unwittingly allow the devil to oppress them in those very areas.

The simplest and surest path to deliverance is to immerse yourself in service to God. Exodus 23:22 (KJV) says, *“But if thou shalt indeed obey his voice, and do all that I speak; then I will be an enemy unto thine enemies, and an adversary unto thine adversaries.” But how does this happen? By loving and serving God with all your heart and soul (Deuteronomy 11:13).

Exodus 19:5-6 (KJV) reads, “Now therefore if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people: for all the earth is mine: and ye shall be unto me a kingdom of priests, and an holy nation.”

Exodus 23:25-26 (KJV) adds, “And ye shall serve the LORD your God, and he shall bless thy bread, and thy water; and I will take sickness away from the midst of thee. There shall nothing cast their young, nor be barren, in thy land: the number of thy days I will fulfill.”

Go into today knowing that true freedom comes when you completely surrender the areas of your life that are under contention to God in service.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, I choose to serve You with my whole heart. As I serve You, I receive all-around freedom. Amen!
