John 15:16 (NET) You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit, fruit that remains, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name he will give you.

Everard observed that anytime he walked in the flesh, he felt drained of spiritual power, but whenever he walked in the Spirit, he was strengthened and filled with joy. There was a time when he had the opportunity to share the gospel with a colleague at work who was in a backslidden state. It took courage and self-denial to do this, but he observed that after the encounter, his heart was filled with joy and inner strength.

When he reflected on this joy and strength, he realized that they came from the joy of the Lord within him. His fruitfulness made the Lord happy, and that joy became his strength.

God saved us and translated us from death to life, and one of the evidences of life is fruitfulness. The Lord dwells within us, and our fruitfulness gives Him great joy. This joy, in turn, becomes our strength(see Nehemiah 8:10).

Fruitfulness in a believer's life means walking in the Spirit and not in the flesh. It means manifesting the fruit of the Spirit. Spiritual believers are fruitful believers, while carnal believers are unfruitful. Fruitful believers find their strength in the joy of the Lord, whereas carnal believers remain weak.

Go into today remembering that true strength comes from walking in the Spirit, thus being fruitful. This pleases God and fills your heart with His joy and strength.

Prayer: Lord, help me to walk in the Spirit and live a fruitful life that brings joy to You. Strengthen me through Your joy as I bear fruit that remains. Amen.
