Breaking Spiritual Barriers

Ephesians 4:31-32 (KJV) says, "Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you."

When Tyron was a child, his family moved to a neighborhood where they were a minority race, and as a result, he grew up hearing racial slurs and derogatory comments. Over time, without realizing it, Tyron developed deep-seated bitterness, hatred, and even racism in his heart. These feelings were so ingrained that even after becoming a believer in Christ, his faith couldn’t influence his political views or heal his wounds.

As a businessman, Tyron strove to run his business with righteousness and integrity, yet he noticed a persistent spiritual limitation in his life. No matter how hard he worked, there seemed to be an invisible barrier he could not break through.

During a period of reflection and waiting on the Lord, Tyron realized that he harbored bitterness and resentment toward the majority race in his country. The hatred he had developed was hindering him spiritually and preventing him from fully walking in the blessings of God. Once he repented of this hatred and chose to forgive, his life changed. The spiritual limitations lifted, and he began to walk in the fullness of God’s promises, experiencing the blessing of Abraham in his life.

Many believers today may also struggle with spiritual barriers because of hidden bitterness or hatred toward others. Like Tyron, they may not realize how these emotions are limiting their spiritual growth. The Apostle Paul was able to do great things for the kingdom because he lived above racial and tribal bias. The same can be true for us if we let go of such biases and embrace the love and forgiveness that Christ offers.

Go into today remembering that there is no room for racism or tribalism in the kingdom of God. Forgive, just as God has forgiven you for Christ's sake.
