Romans 1:11-12 (NET): "For I long to see you, so that I may impart to you some spiritual gift to strengthen you, that is, that we may be mutually comforted by one another’s faith, both yours and mine."

Zabir was feeling very discouraged because of some issues at work. He had been falsely accused because he refused to compromise, and as a result, he was unfairly demoted. Despite praying about the situation, it seemed like God wasn’t answering him. To make matters worse, his small group leader at church was beginning to get on his nerves.

As his frustration grew, Zabir’s faith started to weaken. One day, he was invited to dinner by his discipler and his wife. During the dinner, he opened up about his challenges, and his discipler encouraged him. After leaving, Zabir realized that beyond the wisdom he received from the conversation, he felt strengthened and more courageous, simply from the time he spent with his discipler. From then on, whenever his faith felt weak, Zabir made it a point to spend time with his discipler, knowing it always left him renewed.

On the other hand, Zabir also noticed that there were certain people he spent time with who seemed to drain his faith and resolve to live for Christ. Some of these were even believers, but they were worldly and did not inspire him to pursue holiness.

As you go about your day, remember to be mindful of the people you surround yourself with. Iron sharpens iron, and even the sharpest blades need to be honed. Be deliberate about spending time with those who will build your faith, not weaken it.
