2 Corinthians 6:17-18 (NET) "Therefore ‘come out from their midst, and be separate,’ says the Lord, ‘and touch no unclean thing, and I will welcome you, and I will be a father to you, and you will be my sons and daughters,’ says the All-Powerful Lord."

Darel wondered why he wasn't walking in the sonship he was promised when he gave his life to Christ. The person who preached to him had said that if he accepted Jesus as his Lord, he would be saved and God would become his Father. Something in him knew this was true, so he gave his life to Christ and received salvation.

But weeks later, Darel realized that he wasn’t yet practically walking in the fullness of sonship. So, he started asking the right people the right questions.

One of the things Darel learned was that by receiving Christ, God had given him the power to become a son of God (see John 1:12). This power enables him to separate himself from the world and walk in the holiness of God. Today's Bible verses show us that those who separate themselves from the defilements of this world are the ones who will truly experience the reality of their sonship.

Because of this, Darel stopped hanging out with his unbelieving friends; they were negatively influencing him. He also unsubscribed from many online channels that produced unwholesome content. He learned the way of sanctification and, in no time, began to practically walk in the communion of sonship.

As you go into today, remember that if you have given your life to Christ, you have the power of the Holy Spirit to separate yourself from everything that defiles and to embrace God's promise of sonship.
