Faith to walk in Spiritual Gifts

Daniel 2:16 (NET) "So Daniel went in and requested the king to grant him time, that he might disclose the interpretation to the king.."

Lanre was in a dilemma. After the Wednesday midweek service, just as everyone was saying the grace, he heard a clear prompting in his spirit: “Go and meet Bosun, I have a word for him.” But Lanre struggled with himself. How can I, a 19-year-old, approach the choir leader? What will I even say? What if no words come, and I end up looking foolish? What if it’s just my imagination playing tricks on me?

What should Lanre do? Better still, what would you do?

In today’s text, we see Daniel in a much greater predicament. The king of Babylon had ordered the execution of all the wise men and astrologers because they couldn’t tell him his dream or its interpretation. The wise men lamented that such a task could only be done by gods who don’t live among men. They didn’t know better.

Yet Daniel boldly approached the king, requesting time to reveal the dream and its interpretation. Remarkably, when Daniel made this request, he didn’t yet know the dream or its meaning. What he did have was faith—faith in the God of heaven who reveals secrets. Daniel believed that God would come through, and that confidence empowered him to take the bold step.

To make full use of your God-given gifts, you must trust that God’s power will flow through you. Consider Peter and John in Acts 3:6,12,16. They didn’t rely on their own strength but on the authority of Jesus.

The power is not yours; it belongs to Jesus. Yet He has given you the authority to use His power. Have faith that His power will flow through you as you step out in obedience. By doing so, you give expression to the gifts God has placed in you.
