The Mind of Christ

1 Corinthians 2:16 (NET) "For who has known the mind of the Lord, so as to advise him? But we have the mind of Christ."

Evan’s best friend was his dog. Though the loyalty and companionship were undeniable, Evan still felt lonely and depressed because he lacked genuine human friends. As wonderful as dogs are, they don’t have the mind of man. They cannot provide the deep counsel or connection that only another human can offer.

God created man in His image and likeness, enabling us to think, reason, and relate to Him on a deeper level. This unique design gives us the potential to have the mind of Christ and be friends of God. But this privilege doesn’t come automatically—it begins with regeneration, a spiritual rebirth through faith in Christ. Without being born again, we remain disconnected from God and incapable of having His mind (John 3:3-5).

The mind of Christ is not simply about thinking godly thoughts or striving to obey; it is about a transformation that starts with faith in Christ's redemptive work on the cross. Through faith, we are made new creatures, capable of understanding spiritual truths and yielding to God’s authority (2 Corinthians 5:17, Romans 12:2). Without this regeneration, the mind of Christ remains out of reach.

As you go into today, reflect on the incredible privilege of being a friend of God. Remember, this is only possible through regeneration—a new birth in Christ that gives us the mind of Christ. Once we receive this transformation, we can grow in humility, obedience, and unwavering trust in our heavenly father (Philippians 2:5-11).
