Philippians 1:21-24 (NET) "For to me, living is Christ and dying is gain. Now if I am to go on living in the body, this will mean productive work for me, yet I don’t know which I prefer: I feel torn between the two because I have a desire to depart and be with Christ, which is better by far, but it is more vital for your sake that I remain in the body."Another critical dimension of living for Christ is endurance through trials. While living for Christ brings purpose, productivity, and divine alignment, it does not exempt believers from challenges. In fact, such a life often involves enduring difficulties for the sake of the gospel. However, these challenges are not in vain; they refine us and bring glory to God.
The Apostle Paul himself faced severe hardships—imprisonments, beatings, shipwrecks, and opposition. Yet, he remained steadfast because his life was not his own; it was Christ’s. Living for Christ gave him the strength to endure and the perspective to see trials as opportunities for God’s power to manifest. In Philippians 1:29, Paul reminds us that it is a privilege not only to believe in Christ but also to suffer for His sake.
Dozie’s journey wasn’t without challenges either. After deciding to live fully for Christ, he faced ridicule from some friends who didn’t understand his new focus. There were moments of doubt and seasons of difficulty, but his commitment to live for Christ sustained him. He discovered that each trial strengthened his faith and deepened his dependence on God.
When you live for Christ, you draw strength from Him in times of weakness. Trials become stepping stones to greater maturity, and each victory strengthens your resolve to keep pressing forward. Endurance in trials also becomes a testimony to others, inspiring them to trust in God during their own difficulties.
Go into today remembering that living for Christ equips you to endure and overcome trials. Every challenge you face while walking with Him will ultimately work for your good and His glory (Romans 8:28).
Prayer: Lord, in moments of difficulty, help me to find strength in You. Teach me to endure trials with faith and to see them as opportunities to glorify Your name. Amen.
