Do not Forsake the Assembly

Broadcast 4254

Hebrews 10:25(ESV) We should not stop gathering together with other believers, as some of you are doing. Instead, we must continue to encourage each other even more as we see the day of the Lord coming.

Nonso vowed he would never step foot in a church again after his bitter experience with Bro Fred. He found that many in that church assembly were partial and untruthful. He made himself vulnerable because he believed he was dealing with believers, only to find that they were more crafty and deceptive than some outside the church. But because Nonso had cultivated a personal relationship with the Lord, he knew in his heart that he could not afford to forsake the gathering of his brethren and remain spiritually healthy for long. After being reconnected to the church again, he realized that his exposure to all categories of believers only made him stronger and helped him develop his love and patience. He used to believe he was kind and patient like the Lord Jesus, but being in the church and dealing with real people made him realize he was not as godly as he thought. It helped develop his patience and Christlikeness. He also realized he was God's force for good to propagate godliness even in the church.

The word "church" originates from the Greek word ekklesia, which means a gathering of citizens called out from their homes for an assembly. In the context of faith, it refers to an assembly of believers united in worship, fellowship, and service. The church is not limited to a physical building but encompasses all believers worldwide who constitute the body of Christ.

It is within the church community that we encourage one another to love and good works (Hebrews 10:24). It is where we find fellowship, receive spiritual nourishment, share with one another, and take collective steps to advance God's kingdom agenda and care for the needy.

Being part of a church strengthens us spiritually. It aligns us with Christ and like-minded believers. Neglecting this fellowship can lead to spiritual stagnation and isolation. God designed the church to be a source of encouragement, unity, and growth for every believer.

Go into today determined not to forsake the assembly of believers. Seek out a local church community, become active in its life and mission, and find your unique place in the body of Christ.

Prayer: Lord, thank You for making me part of Your body, the church. I repent of any negligence in engaging with the community of believers. Help me be an active member of the church You lead me to, in Jesus' name. Amen.

Understanding the Language of the Spirit

Broadcast 4253
Click here for the audio version (with audio Bible): https://streamglobe.org/aud4253
1 Corinthians 2:13 (NLT) When we tell you these things, we do not use words that come from human wisdom. Instead, we speak words given to us by the Spirit, using the Spirit's words to explain spiritual truths.
Linda often tried to talk to her local chickens during moments of loneliness. She would go to the back of the house and see them wandering around. Hoping for companionship, she tried to engage them in conversation. But no matter how hard she tried, the chickens would neither understand her words nor stay long enough to listen—they simply ran away. Despite her repeated attempts, it became clear that they were not equipped to understand human language.

In the same way, only those who are born of the Spirit of God can understand His spiritual language. No matter how much effort is put into explaining, the words of the kingdom remain foreign to those who are not part of it.

The deep things of God—the spiritual truths that unlock the power and wisdom He has prepared for His children—are revealed to those who are spiritually mature. These are believers who have trained themselves to walk in the Spirit, follow His lead, and resist being controlled by their natural senses.

Go into today with the assurance that God’s grace abounds toward you. Commit to walking in the Spirit by prioritizing your spiritual life over the desires of the flesh.

Prayer:
Thank you, Heavenly Father, for the privilege of understanding Your Word. I ask that Your Word prospers in my life and bears fruit. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Love That Transforms: Part 3

Broadcast 4252
Click here for the audio version (with audio Bible): https://streamglobe.org/aud4252

1 John 5:1 (NET) "Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ has been fathered by God, and everyone who loves the Father loves the child fathered by him."

Fiona was a widow with two young boys when she met Dare. Although Dare seemed like a wonderful man, Fiona was hesitant about remarrying. Her biggest concern was the welfare of her sons. Would Dare accept them, or would they face rejection at the hands of a stepfather?

As their relationship developed, Fiona witnessed Dare's genuine love for her sons. He cared for them as if they were his own, providing guidance, discipline, and affection. His consistent love for her children convinced Fiona of his sincere love for her.

One of the most important things we must develop in our sojourning on earth is love for God. But how can we love God whom we cannot see? We demonstrate our love for God by loving His children that we can see.

We cannot claim to love God if that love is never demonstrated. The most effective way to show our love for God is by loving His children—our brothers and sisters in Christ. Love is sacrificial. It will cost you, but it will not pain you because it flows naturally from a heart that loves.

Go into today remembering that the greatest treasure we gain from this earthly experience is loving God and becoming like Him. The way we know our love for God is growing is that our love for others will grow as well.

Prayer: Lord, help me to grow in love for You and for Your children. Teach me to demonstrate this love through my actions, words, and sacrifices. Amen.

Christ Our Healer

Broadcast 4251
Click here for the audio version (with audio Bible): https://streamglobe.org/aud4251
Matthew 8:17 (MSG) He fulfilled Isaiah’s well-known sermon: He took our illnesses, He carried our diseases.

John, bedridden and filled with despair, became a believer after a chaplain shared the gospel with him. Yet, despite his newfound faith, he remained on his sickbed, wishing and hoping for healing. He wondered if the miraculous healings of old were still possible today. Convinced that God might act in pity someday, he prayed, hoping that his healing would happen in the future.

Many believers, like John, misinterpret foundational scriptures on healing, such as Isaiah 53:4-5, Matthew 8:17, and 1 Peter 2:24. They see these verses as speaking of a distant past, a doubtful present, and a potential future. This misunderstanding weakens their faith and keeps them from experiencing the fullness of Christ’s redemptive work.

The truth is that God sees believers as already healed. In the spirit realm, healing was accomplished through Christ's finished work on the cross. When we become born again, God places His healing power within our recreated spirit, ready to be released into our physical bodies by faith.

Healing is not about waiting for God to act; it’s about acknowledging what has already been provided, receiving it by faith, and aligning our minds with God’s Word. The correct interpretation of healing scriptures is this: There was a fulfilled past, there is a real and active present, and there is an expected and accomplished future.

Go into today knowing that Christ has settled your healing for all times. Through faith, you can release this reality into your life and bring healing to others.

Prayer: Lord, help me understand and walk in the truth of the healing You have provided through Christ. Strengthen my faith to release this healing in my life and share it with others. Amen.

1 Corinthians 2:9 (NET) But just as it is written, “Things that no eye has seen, or ear heard, or mind imagined, are the things God has prepared for those who love him.”

Believers are uniquely blessed to have their eyes opened to the overwhelming love of God. This revelation transforms us, filling our hearts with a desire to love Him in return. Humanity is wired to reciprocate love, and only those with hardened hearts fail to respond to genuine love.

One way we show our love for God is by seeking to please Him. Pleasing God begins with obeying His commandments and understanding His ways so we can align our lives with His will. As we grow in love for God, our actions and decisions increasingly reflect our desire to honor Him.

God’s greatest expectation of us is that we love Him wholeheartedly. When we grasp the depths of His love, our natural response will be to love Him and live in a way that brings Him glory.

Go into today remembering that God’s love for you is beyond comprehension. Let that love inspire you to live a life that pleases Him.

Prayer: Lord, open my eyes to the depth of Your love, and help me to respond by loving You with all my heart, soul, and mind. Amen.

1 Corinthians 2:9 (NET) But just as it is written, “Things that no eye has seen, or ear heard, or mind imagined, are the things God has prepared for those who love him.”

When Fiona married Dare, she discovered that his love for her was genuine and unwavering. Over time, her love for him deepened, and she found herself going out of her way to please him. For instance, Dare adored a specific hairstyle on her, and she often wore it, even though it wasn’t her favorite. It wasn’t about the hairstyle—it was about expressing her love through actions that made him happy.

In the same way, when we love God, it inspires us to seek ways to please Him. God gave us free will so that we could genuinely choose to love Him. Without free will, love would be impossible, for love must always be a choice.

One could say that human life experience on earth is a screening process that determines who would love God and who wouldn't. The next phase of God's glorious creation is reserved for only God and those who love him. This life is an opportunity to demonstrate our love for God. Through our choices, we decide whether to love Him or not. For those who choose to love God, He has prepared unimaginable blessings that go beyond human understanding (see 1 Corinthians 2:9).

Go into today reflecting on the depth of your love for God. How are you expressing your love for Him in your daily life?

Prayer: Lord, help me to grow in my love for You and to express it through my actions. Teach me to seek Your will and live to please You. Amen.

Ephesians 1:17-18 (KJV)That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints.

As Sedric grew spiritually, he noticed something remarkable. Every time he obeyed the leading of the Holy Spirit in seemingly small matters—such as refraining from exaggerating facts or being diligent in prayer—his ability to discern the Spirit’s voice became sharper. Even more, he found that his capacity to walk in God’s power and manifest His glory increased.

Sedric realized a profound truth: faithfulness in small things leads to being entrusted with greater things. The Holy Spirit often begins His work in our lives with gentle nudges and quiet impressions. When we respond faithfully, He prepares us for more significant demonstrations of His power and glory.

The Holy Spirit’s role is to guide believers into truth (John 16:13). This guidance transforms the heart and mind through the Word of God. However, to experience this transformative power, we must remain sensitive to His leading and obedient to His voice.

For example, you may feel an inner restraint against exaggerating a story or acting contrary to God’s Word. That gentle nudge is the Holy Spirit prompting you to align with His truth. Each time you obey these seemingly minor instructions, you build a foundation for deeper spiritual growth and greater manifestations of God’s power.

Every time you read your Bible or listen to a Sermon and gain an understanding of God's truth, that understanding is only possible through the work of the Holy Spirit. Those who are not born of God cannot grasp such life-transforming understanding, they have only knowledge, and knowledge alone is not strong enough to transform the human heart.

Go into today remembering that as a believer, you have the privilege of the Holy Spirit dwelling within you. Allow Him to guide you into all truth and renew your mind through His Word.

Prayer: Lord, help me to trust You in the small things and remain faithful in obedience to Your Word. Teach me to yield to the Holy Spirit and grow in Your power and glory.

Sedric had always been sure of one thing: he was baptized in the Holy Spirit, evidenced by his ability to speak in tongues. Yet, for years, he yearned for something deeper—a tangible walk in the power of God. To him, it seemed that speaking in tongues was the only fruit of his baptism. Frustrated yet determined, he sought accountability and discipleship from Brendan, an older and spiritually mature believer.

Brendan took Sedric under his wing, not just mentoring him but interceding for him daily. He prayed fervently, asking God to open Sedric’s understanding so he could grasp what had already been freely given to him in Christ. Over time, Sedric’s spiritual eyes were enlightened, and he began to walk in the power of God—not just in miraculous deeds, but in living a holy life and doing exploits for God’s kingdom.

In God’s kingdom, many blessings and truths are accessed through revelation. Without revelational knowledge, a believer may have access to divine resources yet fail to appropriate them. This is why Apostle Paul continually prayed for the Ephesians, asking God to grant them wisdom and revelation to understand His expectations, their identity in Christ, and the boundless riches of His power available to them.

Reflection: Are there areas in your life where you feel spiritually stagnant? Ask the Holy Spirit to open your eyes to the riches of what God has freely given to you in Christ.

Prayer: Lord, grant me the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of You. Enlighten my understanding that I may fully walk in the riches of Your glory. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Do not walk in the flesh

Broadcast 4246
Click here for the audio version (with audio Bible): https://streamglobe.org/aud4246

Romans 13:14 (KJV) But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to gratify its desires.

Walking in the Spirit or walking in the flesh is a choice every believer must make daily. God’s will for His children is that they walk in the Spirit, growing in the divine nature and deepening their intimacy with Him. He has supplied the grace to do this through the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit. However, the devil's strategy is to lure believers into walking in the flesh, leading them into spiritual weakness, vulnerability to his schemes, and ultimately spiritual death.

How Do People Walk in the Flesh?
People walk in the flesh when they allow their sinful nature to control their actions, yielding to the desires of the flesh rather than the Spirit. Galatians 5:19-21 clearly outlines the works of the flesh:
“When you follow the desires of your sinful nature, the results are very clear: sexual immorality, impurity, lustful pleasures, idolatry, sorcery, hostility, quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, dissension, division, envy, drunkenness, wild parties, and other sins like these. Let me tell you again, as I have before, that anyone living that sort of life will not inherit the Kingdom of God.”

When believers yield to these works of the flesh, they stifle their spiritual growth and put themselves at risk of spiritual death (see Romans 8:13).

How to Walk in the Spirit
Walking in the Spirit requires intentionality. Here are practical steps:

  1. Daily Surrender: Start your day by committing to God and asking for the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
  2. Feed Your Spirit: Regularly study God’s Word and meditate on it. The Word renews your mind and strengthens your spirit (Romans 12:2).
  3. Guard Your Heart: Be mindful of what you expose yourself to—conversations, media, or environments that may provoke the desires of the flesh (Proverbs 4:23).
  4. Be Prayerful: Continually commune with God in prayer. Prayer empowers you to overcome temptations and walk victoriously.
  5. Stay Accountable: Surround yourself with fellow believers who encourage you to grow spiritually and hold you accountable.

Go into today remembering that to “put on the Lord Jesus Christ” is to live in constant awareness of His presence, allowing His character and Spirit to shape your thoughts and actions. Ask the Lord for grace to overcome temptations and walk in victory over the flesh.

Prayer: Lord, help me to walk in the Spirit and not gratify the desires of the flesh. Empower me daily to put on Christ and live in alignment with Your will. Amen.

The Word Sanctifies 2

Broadcast 4245

John 17:17 (KJV) “Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.”

As Phillip meditated on God’s Word that evening, he reflected on how easily we can become influenced by the environments we allow ourselves to engage in. He realized that while he could not entirely avoid situations where ungodly conversations might arise, he could always rely on the Word to cleanse and recalibrate his heart.

This experience reminded him of Psalm 119:11, “Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.” Phillip understood that the more he stored God’s Word in his heart, the more equipped he would be to guard against spiritual contamination and maintain his walk of righteousness.

Over time, Phillip developed a habit of intentional preparation before attending such gatherings. He would spend time in prayer, asking God for strength to shine as a light and for wisdom to redirect conversations towards wholesome topics. He also began sharing his testimony boldly, which surprised many of his old friends and led some to inquire about his faith.

Through this, Phillip learned a profound truth: the Word not only cleanses but also empowers. It equips believers to stand firm in challenging environments and to be agents of transformation.

Practical Steps to Stay Spiritually Clean:

  1. Daily Immersion in the Word: Make it a priority to study and meditate on Scripture each day. The Word of God is the believer’s primary tool for cleansing and renewal.
  2. Guard Your Heart: Be mindful of the conversations and environments you allow yourself to engage in. Proverbs 4:23 reminds us to guard our hearts with all diligence.
  3. Be a Light: Ask God for boldness to influence others positively, sharing His truth with love and wisdom.

Go into today reminding yourself that while you live in this world, you are not of it (John 17:16). By abiding in God’s Word and staying connected to Him through prayer, you can walk in continual sanctification and be a vessel of honor for His glory.

Prayer: Lord, help me to shine as a light in every environment. Cleanse me through Your Word, and empower me to live a life that draws others to You. Amen.

John 17:17 (KJV) “Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.”

Phillip was thrilled to attend a reunion party organized for alumni of his university. It was a chance to reconnect with old friends and reminisce about the past. As the night unfolded, he found himself surrounded by familiar faces, including a few of his old girlfriends and companions from his wild campus days.

Back in his university years, Phillip was far from godly. He lived recklessly, indulging in immorality, and took pride in leading a carefree, ungodly life. But all of that had changed after he encountered Christ three years after graduation. Now, Phillip was a transformed man, walking in the light of God's grace and truth.

At the party, his old friends were overjoyed to see him and quickly engaged him in conversations. Unfortunately, many of these conversations were filled with crude jokes, gossip, and unwholesome reminiscing about their wild escapades. Phillip tried to steer the discussions in a better direction, but his friends didn’t understand the depth of the change in his life.

When he left the party, Phillip felt defiled. His heart and mind were burdened with unclean thoughts he hadn’t wrestled with in years. It was as if being in that environment had stirred up old, buried struggles.

Back home, Phillip did the only thing he knew could cleanse his heart—he opened his Bible and began to read. As he immersed himself in the Word, he felt an undeniable renewal in his spirit. The thoughts that had weighed him down were washed away, replaced by peace and a renewed sense of God’s presence. He realized afresh the power of God’s Word to sanctify and restore his soul (see Ps 23:3).

The Bible teaches us in Ephesians 5:26 that Christ sanctifies His Church through the washing of water by the Word. This aligns with John 17:17, where Jesus prayed that we would be sanctified through the truth of God's Word. It is through abiding in the Word that we experience continuous cleansing and renewal.

Go into today remembering that the Word of God is the spiritual water that purifies and sanctifies your soul.

Prayer: Lord, help me abide in Your Word always, and let it cleanse and renew me daily. Amen.

Philippians 4:6-7 (NET)“Do not be anxious about anything. Instead, in every situation, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, tell your requests to God. And the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.”

Rhoda was now 30 years old and still unmarried. Her mother constantly reminded her that time was running out, saying things like, “You’re almost past the flower of your age!” Friends and family often added to the pressure, offering unsolicited advice or pitying glances.

But Rhoda had learned the secret of handling anxiety: taking everything to God in prayer. Each time worry tried to creep into her heart, she would spend time in prayer, pouring out her concerns to the Lord and thanking Him for His goodness. As she did this, a deep peace always replaced her fears.

Instead of being weighed down by anxiety, Rhoda radiated joy and confidence. She became known for her cheerful and calm demeanor, even in the face of life's challenges. This inner peace and positivity made her personality magnetic. It was this quality that caught the attention of Chuka, a successful and God-fearing businessman. Chuka had seen many accomplished women, but something about Rhoda stood out. Her joy and unshakable peace drew him in. He later admitted, “I wanted the joy I saw in her to be part of my home.” He eventually asked her to marry him, and their union became a testimony of God's faithfulness.

Anxiety and heaviness are spiritual weights that hinder the flow of God's grace and blessings. That’s why the Lord commands us to “be anxious for nothing.” The best way to overcome anxiety is through consistent prayer and thanksgiving. When we truly trust God with our concerns, His peace—one that defies human understanding—will fill our hearts and minds.

One way to know you’ve “prayed through” is when the anxiety in your heart is replaced by God's peace. It’s a sign that you’ve surrendered the matter into His capable hands.

Go into today determined to live a life that radiates the joy and peace of the Lord. Ask Him to help you cast all your cares on Him, knowing He cares for you (Psalm 55:22).

Ephesians 6:18 (NIV) And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord's people.
Because of her upbringing, Rhoda knew how to pray for long. So when it dawned on her that she was not praying nearly enough, she decided to start praying the way she was brought up to pray. At every opportunity she found, she would pray in the spirit. She also started taking out at least one hour each day to pray in the Spirit.

Rhoda observed that as she prayed more, she became more sensitive in the spirit and was filled with power and boldness. She saw that through prayer, she now physically received the things that had been prophesied over her life long ago; prophecies that appeared like they would not be fulfilled.

It is through prayers that we birth the things that have been given to us through prophecy. This was what Daniel understood when he began to pray concerning the liberation of Israel prophesied by Jeremiah (see Dan 9:2-3).

Rhoda’s prayers were now powerful because she was now walking in the outward manifestation of God’s righteousness.

It is the effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man that avails much, not the effectual fervent prayer of any man. Many believers pray long and pray hard, but their prayers are not very powerful because it comes from deceitful lips and impure hearts. They cannot ascend the heights [of power] through prayer because of the way they live their lives (see Psa 24:3-5).

Go into today remembering that deceitful lips do not have any power in the presence of God and his holy angels. Ask the Lord to help you pray in the Spirit on all occasions.

James 5:16 (AMP)"Therefore, confess your sins to one another [your false steps, your offenses], and pray for one another, that you may be healed and restored. The heartfelt and persistent prayer of a righteous man (believer) can accomplish much [when put into action and made effective by God—it is dynamic and can have tremendous power]."

Rhoda grew up in a church where prayer was a major emphasis. Members could pray for hours at a stretch, sometimes up to twelve hours. However, the church lacked strong teaching on the word of righteousness and godly living. Despite their fervent prayers, many of the members lived unrighteous lives, which resulted in broken marriages and numerous other struggles. Their prayers appeared ineffective because they did not walk in righteousness.

When Rhoda moved away from home, she started attending a Bible-based church that emphasized the word of God and faith. Her spiritual growth in righteousness flourished, but the church assembly lacked a robust prayer culture. While they studied the Word deeply, the lack of fervent prayer meant the manifestation of God’s power was limited.

A recurring issue in many churches is a lack of balance between prayer and righteous living. Churches that emphasize prayer often neglect to teach the practical application of righteousness in daily life. As a result, though their prayers are fervent, they are not as effective as they could be because righteousness is essential for powerful prayers. Conversely, Bible-based churches that focus on faith and righteousness sometimes fall short in the area of persistent, Spirit-filled prayer. This creates a gap in the release of God's dynamic power.

Go into today asking the Lord to help you grow in both righteousness and fervent, Spirit-led prayer. Remember, the combination of righteous living and persistent prayer makes tremendous power available.

Prayer:
Lord, help me walk in righteousness and develop a powerful prayer life. Teach me to balance devotion to Your Word with fervent prayer so that I can live a life that manifests Your power and glory. Amen.

Matthew 6:7-8 (NKJV) "And when you pray, do not use vain repetitions as the heathen do. For they think that they will be heard for their many words. Therefore do not be like them. For your Father knows the things you have need of before you ask Him."

Azubike faced a significant challenge in his business. He prayed earnestly for wisdom and help from the Lord. After his initial prayer, he felt the need to keep praying about the matter but hesitated. He misunderstood Jesus’ teaching in today’s text and thought it meant he should not pray about the same issue more than once.

Thankfully, Azubike had the habit of studying the Bible. One day, he read Luke 18, where Jesus taught the parable of the persistent widow, emphasizing the importance of persistent prayer. Realizing this, Azubike continued praying about his challenge until he received the breakthrough he sought.

Repetition in prayer is not forbidden; what Jesus warns against is vain repetition. For example, Jesus Himself repeated His prayer in the garden of Gethsemane (Matthew 26:42-44), and Elijah prayed seven times for rain to return (1 Kings 18:42-44). The key is that these prayers were purposeful and centered on God’s will.

Vain prayers, like those of the Gentiles, are self-centered and focused solely on material needs. In contrast, believers are called to pray prayers that prioritize God’s kingdom and His righteousness (Matthew 6:33). When our prayers align with God’s will, they become powerful and effective.

Go into today asking the Lord to grant you the wisdom to pray wisely and persistently, always seeking His will above all (James 4:3).

Prayer:
Lord, teach me to pray prayers that align with Your kingdom and righteousness. Help me to persevere in prayer, trusting in Your perfect timing and will. Amen.

James 1:4 (ERV) "If you let that patience work in you, the end result will be good. You will be mature and complete. You will be all that God wants you to be."

While learning carpentry, John often felt frustrated with his father, who was also his teacher. Unlike the other pupils who were allowed to work on projects, John was told to simply observe his father. At the time, John thought his father didn't want him to succeed.

Years later, as a celebrated craftsman, John realized the wisdom behind his father's approach. Watching his father work through challenges to create masterpieces had instilled in him a critical virtue: patience. It was this virtue that enabled John to persist and excel where others gave up, setting him apart as a master of his craft.

Patience is a virtue that not only prepares us for success but also endears us to God. It is a fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22), and if we are to see God's will fulfilled in our lives, patience is indispensable (Hebrews 10:36).

In the Parable of the Sower (Luke 8:15), Jesus highlights the importance of patience as a requirement for success. Many people may have talent and ambition, but without patience, they often fail when faced with challenges. Patience allows us to persevere, mature, and ultimately produce lasting fruit.

Waiting on God is not passive; it requires us to actively nurture our spiritual gifts over time. This process leads to maturity, enabling us to withstand trials and fulfill God's purpose for our lives.

Go into today determined to let patience have its perfect work in you. Actively persevere in developing your spiritual gifts and trusting God's timing. This will lead you to maturity, success, and the fulfillment of His will for your life.

Prayer:
Lord, help me to embrace patience and trust Your process for my life. Strengthen me to persevere and grow into all that You have called me to be. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Matthew 6:7-8 (NKJV) And when you pray, do not use vain repetitions as the heathen do. For they think that they will be heard for their many words. Therefore do not be like them. For your Father knows the things you have need of before you ask Him.

Debo noticed a troubling pattern in his life—he had told seven lies in just four days. Deeply convicted, he knew he couldn't continue down that path. Determined to seek help, he set his alarm for 2 a.m. to pray. That night, he prayed fervently in the Spirit for two hours, asking God to break the hold of lying over his life. By the end of his prayer, Debo was certain he had received the power to resist the urge to lie.

Debo's prayer wasn't focused on material needs but on addressing a fault in his life that hindered his walk of righteousness. His heart's cry was to seek God's righteousness, and through prayer, he experienced a breakthrough.

To understand the heart of what Jesus teaches in today’s verses, we must read further to Matthew 6:31-32. Here, Jesus explains that the focus of Gentile prayers is on material needs—summed up in “What shall we eat? What shall we drink? What shall we wear?” In the context of God’s kingdom, prayers that center only on such concerns are vain, and repeating them without seeking deeper spiritual priorities is what Jesus refers to as "vain repetitions."

Jesus provides the antidote in Matthew 6:33: “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” Prayer is a key way we seek God’s kingdom, and this seeking must be rooted in a desire to walk in His righteousness (see Romans 14:17).

Go into today committing to seek the Lord’s kingdom and righteousness in your prayers. Trust that as you align your heart with His will, all your needs will be met in due time.

Prayer:
Lord, help me to prioritize Your kingdom and righteousness above all else. Grant me the grace to walk in Your ways and trust You to supply all my needs. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

John 1:12 (KJV) "But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:"

Zachary was a very shy boy throughout elementary and middle school. His smaller stature made him an easy target for bullies. Life was not kind to Zachary; he never knew his father, and his mother struggled with addiction. Despite the odds, his grandmother, a determined woman of faith, insisted that he take his education seriously. Yet, Zachary’s self-esteem remained deeply wounded, and he felt unworthy of love or purpose.

After high school, while working at a store, Zachary met a group of Mormons who took an interest in him. They invited him to their church, and he started attending.

One snowy Sunday, unable to attend their church due to inclement weather, Zachary decided to visit a nearby Christian church instead. That service would change his life forever.

As he listened to the preacher, for the first time, he heard about Jesus in a way that was deeply personal. The pastor spoke on John 1:12, emphasizing that those who received Jesus were given the power to become children of God. For the first time, Zachary realized that God wasn’t a distant deity who could not be known but a loving Father offering a relationship through His Son. Tears streamed down his face as he surrendered his heart to Christ.

That day, Zachary’s life began to change. The power to become a child of God wasn’t just a theological concept; it became his lived reality. He joined that church, grew in the Word, and gradually saw his identity transform. No longer defined by his past or his circumstances, Zachary found a new sense of worth and purpose in his relationship with Christ.

Reflection:
The power to become sons of God isn’t just about a title—it’s about transformation. Like Zachary, we all carry scars and struggles, but when we receive Christ, we are adopted into God’s family and given the strength to walk in this new identity.

Go into today knowing that no matter your past or present struggles, if you have received Christ, you have His Spirit within you, empowering you to live a life of purpose and victory.

Prayer:
Lord, thank You for giving me the power to become Your child. Help me to fully embrace my new identity in You and walk in the victory You have provided. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Titus 3:8 (KJV)8 This is a faithful saying, and these things I will that thou affirm constantly, that they which have believed in God might be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable unto men.

The God-kind of life is not a hidden treasure but one that is meant to shine through us, impacting both our inner transformation and the world around us. When Titus 3:8 calls us to “be careful to maintain good works,” it is not a call to legalism but a call to live out the reality of the divine life within.

Paul’s message in Ephesians 2:10 reminds us that we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which He prepared in advance for us to do. These works are not the root of salvation but its fruit. They reveal the reality of the life we have received.

But how can we ensure that this life consistently produces godly works?

  1. Stay Connected to the Source
Jesus emphasized the importance of abiding in Him (John 15:4). Through prayer, the Word, worship, Christian fellowship, and consistent study of the Word, we remain connected to the Vine and allow His life to flow through us.

  2. Walk in the Spirit
Galatians 5:16 says, “Walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.” Yielding to the Holy Spirit enables us to manifest the fruits of godliness and overcome the pull of the old nature.

  3. Be Intentional in Service
Good works are not limited to morality but extend to serving others in love and advancing God’s kingdom (Matthew 25:35-40). Look for opportunities to reflect Christ’s love through acts of kindness, generosity, and compassion.

  4. Trust in God’s Grace
Even as we strive to live out this life, we must remember that it is God who works in us both to will and to act in order to fulfill His good purpose (Philippians 2:13). Our part is to cooperate with His grace.

Reflection:

  • Are you intentional about reflecting the God-kind of life in your daily interactions?
  • How can you align more with the works God has prepared for you?

Go into today knowing that the God-kind of life is active and transformative. As you yield to the Spirit and walk in obedience, your life becomes a powerful testimony of God’s grace and goodness.

Prayer:
Lord Jesus, thank You for creating me for good works in Christ. Help me to abide in You, walk in Your Spirit, and fulfill the purpose for which I was created. May my life be a beacon of Your love and a
reflection of Your glory. Amen.

Titus 3:8 (KJV)8 This is a faithful saying, and these things I will that thou affirm constantly, that they which have believed in God might be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable unto men.

The life we have received as believers—eternal life—is transformative by nature. It is not stagnant but dynamic, actively shaping us to reflect the character of God. The Apostle Paul’s words in Titus 3:8 remind us to affirm this truth constantly: those who believe in God must be careful to maintain good works. Why? Because these works are an evidence of the life within us and are profitable to everyone.

A powerful example of this truth can be seen in John 15:5, where Jesus says, “I am the vine; you are the branches. The one who remains in me—and I in him—bears much fruit, because apart from me you can accomplish nothing.” When we remain connected to Christ, His life flows through us, producing the fruit of good works and godly living.

This divine connection should result in:

  1. A Change in Character: The fruit of the Spirit—love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23)—becomes evident in our daily lives.
  2. Good Works That Glorify God: Our actions, motivated by love and empowered by the Spirit, become a testimony of God’s grace to those around us (Matthew 5:16).
  3. A Desire for Righteousness: The new life in Christ creates a hunger for godly living, prompting us to turn away from sin and pursue holiness.

Reflection:

  • Is the life of Christ within you producing the lifestyle of Christ around you?
  • Are there areas of your life where the fruit of good works is not yet evident?

Go into today understanding that the life you’ve received in Christ was designed to bear fruit. It is through these good works that God’s glory is revealed and His kingdom advanced.

Prayer:
Father, thank You for giving me the God-kind of life through Christ. Help me to remain connected to You so that my life produces good works and reflects Your glory. Empower me by Your Spirit to walk in righteousness and to impact those around me. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Titus 3:8(KJV)8 This is a faithful saying, and these things I will that thou affirm constantly, that they which have believed in God might be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable unto men.
What we have as believers is a kind of life; a God kind of life. Scriptures sometimes refer to it as eternal life (1st John 5:11&12, John 1:4-5, 12-13), meaning that in reality we received a new, kind of life in salvation. This is our reality.

However we must know, this life is not just like a trophy we keep for bragging rights, but rather, it manifests, it produces something. YOU SEE, THIS LIFE PRODUCES A LIFESTYLE. The scripture is replete with this emphasis. One scripture that encapsulates this truth in a profound way is Ephesians 2:8-10.

8 For by grace you are saved through faith, and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God; 9 it is not from works, so that no one can boast. 10 For we are his workmanship, having been created in Christ Jesus for good works that God prepared beforehand so we may do them.

You see, this salvation-life was received not by our works (of the law), HOWEVER, the life is designed to produce a work (of righteousness) in everyone who receives it.

It is therefore ignorance, foolishness, or dishonesty to think that there is a disconnect between this life and the lifestyle of the recipient. We have received the God-kind of life, and this life produces godliness.

Oh yeah, the hood does not make the monk, BUT THE MONK DOES WEAR A HOOD.
IF YOU HAVE THE LIFE, LET IT PRODUCE THE ATTENDANT LIFESTYLE IN YOU.

1 Corinthians 10:13 (NET) "No trial has overtaken you that is not faced by others. And God is faithful: He will not let you be tried beyond what you are able to bear, but with the trial will also provide a way out so that you may be able to endure it."

Each time Ikenna read this verse, it felt untrue to him because of his struggles. He faced temptations that seemed insurmountable and found himself falling repeatedly, despite his will to resist. It felt as though these temptations were beyond what he could bear.

In 1 Corinthians 10:13, Apostle Paul admonishes the Corinthians using the example of the Israelites in the wilderness, who faced judgment because of their unbelief, rebellion, and disobedience. He reassures them—and us—that no temptation is beyond our ability to overcome because God is faithful. With every temptation, He provides an escape route. This promise is directed toward believers who are no longer slaves to sin but are now free in Christ.

However, if a Christian experiences compulsive temptations that feel impossible to overcome, consistently falling despite their desire to resist, it may indicate the presence of spiritual bondage. In such cases, deliverance is necessary.

True and lasting deliverance comes through the knowledge of the truth (John 8:32-34). This knowledge is cultivated by devotion to the ministry of the Word and prayer. While deliverance ministries have their place—Jesus commanded us to cast out demons (Matthew 10:8)—freedom must be maintained by being filled with the Spirit of Truth. A believer filled with the Spirit leaves no room for the demon of bondage to return (see Matthew 12:43-45).

Reflection:

  • Are you facing a recurring temptation that feels impossible to overcome?
  • Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal any areas of bondage and guide you into freedom through the truth of God’s Word.

Go into today remembering that God has given you the authority to cast out demons. Any temptation that seems overpowering may be facilitated by a spirit that must be dealt with to achieve true freedom.

Prayer:
Lord, I thank You for Your faithfulness in providing a way out of every temptation. Help me to walk in freedom by the power of Your Spirit and to be devoted to Your Word and prayer. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Ephesians 6:18 (KJV) "Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints."

Bayo experienced a great revival during his time as a youth corps member. It was a season of deep spiritual growth as he learned the disciplines of prayer and the ministry of the Word. After his service year, he continued to thrive spiritually, enjoying God’s presence and growing in his faith.

Then he landed a demanding, high-paying job. The nature of his new role required him to leave home early and return late. Slowly but surely, this routine began to affect his prayer and Word life. He found it increasingly difficult to pray as before and had little time for Bible study during the week. Beyond the lack of time, his zeal and desire for fellowship with the Lord began to fade.

Weeks turned into months, and Bayo noticed alarming changes. The temptations he had long overcome started overpowering him again. It became clear to him that he was waning in spiritual strength. He knew he needed help.

No matter how far you’ve come spiritually, if prayer and the ministry of the Word are neglected, spiritual decline is inevitable. The devil knows this too well and works tirelessly to distract believers from these vital disciplines.

That’s why the Lord consistently instructs us in the New Testament to pray always (see 1 Thessalonians 5:17, Colossians 4:2, Philippians 4:6, Jude 1:20, Luke 18:1, Luke 21:36, Mark 14:38, 1 Peter 4:7, Romans 12:12, Ephesians 6:18).

Reflection:
Praying always isn’t an optional practice for the believer; it’s the only way to maintain spiritual strength and excel in the Christian life.

Prayer:
Lord, help me to remain consistent in prayer and the study of Your Word. Strengthen my desire for fellowship with You and protect me from distractions that threaten my spiritual growth. Amen.

Embracing Our Identity as Pilgrims

Hebrews‬ ‭11‬:‭13‬-‭16‬ ‭(NKJV‬‬) These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off were assured of them, embraced them and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth. For those who say such things declare plainly that they seek a homeland. And truly if they had called to mind that country from which they had come out, they would have had opportunity to return. But now they desire a better, that is, a heavenly country. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for He has prepared a city for them.”

In John Bunyan's classic Christian allegory, The Pilgrim’s Progress, the protagonist, Christian, embarks on a spiritual journey from the City of Destruction (representing this world) to the Celestial City (symbolizing the world to come). This story reflects the reality described in Hebrews 11:13, which identifies believers as “strangers and pilgrims on earth”—those who are merely passing through this world on their way to a heavenly homeland.

In our scripture reading, we see that patriarchs like Abraham fully understood and embraced this pilgrim identity. They lived in tents, demonstrating their detachment from earthly permanence, and waited in faith for “a city whose builder and maker is God.” Hebrews 11 reminds us that these patriarchs died without receiving the promises but saw them from afar and were assured of them. Their hope in God’s promises gave them the strength to forsake earthly pleasures and deny themselves certain liberties. They lived with the conscious awareness that this world was not their home. Not only did they identify as pilgrims, but they also refused to attach themselves to the fleeting things of this world.

Unfortunately, many believers today have neglected this vital reality. We have forgotten our identity as pilgrims and often invest our time, energy, and resources in temporal things that are passing away. Too often, we live primarily for the pleasures and successes of this world rather than the world to come. This is not to suggest that we should become so heavenly-minded that we are of no earthly good. After all, our Lord commanded us to "occupy until I come" (Luke 19:13).

Instead, I am advocating for a shift in identity—one that fundamentally transforms how we live as believers. By embracing our identity as pilgrims, we can focus on the eternal things that will lead us to the heavenly city that God has prepared for us.

Prayer: Lord, help me to rid myself of every distraction and embrace my identity as a pilgrim so that I may run with endurance the race to the heavenly city in Jesus' name. Amen.
