Matthew 8:17 (MSG) He fulfilled Isaiah’s well-known sermon: He took our illnesses, He carried our diseases.

John, bedridden and filled with despair, became a believer after a chaplain shared the gospel with him. Yet, despite his newfound faith, he remained on his sickbed, wishing and hoping for healing. He wondered if the miraculous healings of old were still possible today. Convinced that God might act in pity someday, he prayed, hoping that his healing would happen in the future.

Many believers, like John, misinterpret foundational scriptures on healing, such as Isaiah 53:4-5, Matthew 8:17, and 1 Peter 2:24. They see these verses as speaking of a distant past, a doubtful present, and a potential future. This misunderstanding weakens their faith and keeps them from experiencing the fullness of Christ’s redemptive work.

The truth is that God sees believers as already healed. In the spirit realm, healing was accomplished through Christ's finished work on the cross. When we become born again, God places His healing power within our recreated spirit, ready to be released into our physical bodies by faith.

Healing is not about waiting for God to act; it’s about acknowledging what has already been provided, receiving it by faith, and aligning our minds with God’s Word. The correct interpretation of healing scriptures is this: There was a fulfilled past, there is a real and active present, and there is an expected and accomplished future.

Go into today knowing that Christ has settled your healing for all times. Through faith, you can release this reality into your life and bring healing to others.

Prayer: Lord, help me understand and walk in the truth of the healing You have provided through Christ. Strengthen my faith to release this healing in my life and share it with others. Amen.
