Fiona was a widow with two young boys when she met Dare. Although Dare seemed like a wonderful man, Fiona was hesitant about remarrying. Her biggest concern was the welfare of her sons. Would Dare accept them, or would they face rejection at the hands of a stepfather?
As their relationship developed, Fiona witnessed Dare's genuine love for her sons. He cared for them as if they were his own, providing guidance, discipline, and affection. His consistent love for her children convinced Fiona of his sincere love for her.
One of the most important things we must develop in our sojourning on earth is love for God. But how can we love God whom we cannot see? We demonstrate our love for God by loving His children that we can see.
We cannot claim to love God if that love is never demonstrated. The most effective way to show our love for God is by loving His children—our brothers and sisters in Christ. Love is sacrificial. It will cost you, but it will not pain you because it flows naturally from a heart that loves.
Go into today remembering that the greatest treasure we gain from this earthly experience is loving God and becoming like Him. The way we know our love for God is growing is that our love for others will grow as well.
