1 Corinthians 10:13 (KJV)“There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.”
After a grueling day at work, Joy noticed a persistent ache in her joints. Exhausted, she barely managed to drive home, longing for rest. She took a warm shower and went straight to bed, hoping the pain would subside. The next morning, Joy felt slightly better and decided to go to work. However, as the day wore on, the pain worsened, making her tasks increasingly difficult. She realized she couldn’t ignore it any longer. Acting on wisdom, she visited a doctor, received the necessary treatment, and recovered fully before the condition worsened.
Joy’s experience mirrors the spiritual journey many believers face. Just as Joy recognized the need to seek help when her physical condition deteriorated, we too must recognize the importance of seeking help when we notice spiritual weaknesses or recurring struggles. Ignoring them or attempting to fight through them alone often leads to greater harm.
As children of God, we are not victims of circumstances or spiritual forces beyond our control. If we stumble into sin, it is because we have chosen to ignore God’s provision for escape. His faithfulness ensures that no temptation is beyond what we can endure. He always provides a way out—we only need to seek it. If we feel too weak to overcome on our own, the simplest act we can take is to cry out for help.
God assures us in Psalm 50:15 (NASB): “Call upon Me on the day of trouble; I will rescue you, and you will honor Me.”
Struggling with sin or spiritual weakness is not uncommon, but ignoring it or trying to handle it in isolation is not the solution. Just as Joy sought help from a doctor to address her physical ailment, believers must seek God’s help and, where necessary, counsel and support from fellow believers to overcome spiritual challenges.
Go into today with this assurance: God’s faithfulness never fails. No matter the temptation or struggle, He will provide a way of escape and the strength to overcome. Your part is to trust Him and take action—whether that means seeking His help in prayer[and fasting] or leaning on the support of those God has placed in your life.
