Romans 12:3 (NET) "For by the grace given to me I say to every one of you not to think more highly of yourself than you ought to think, but to think with sober discernment, as God has distributed to each of you a measure of faith."

Shuan was dissatisfied with the position he was given in church because he felt he was more qualified to be the youth leader than Fred. He had an exaggerated impression of himself and didn’t realize it. This mindset made him ineffective in his role as the secretary of the youth fellowship. He harbored bitterness against the system, and that bitterness spread within him. What was meant to be a source of reward for him ultimately became a source of rebuke.

Fred, on the other hand, was not as talented as Shuan, but he was much wiser because he understood his limitations and knew how to make up for them. As a result, he consistently achieved better results than Shuan.

The admonition in today’s Bible verse is one that many believers overlook in today’s culture of self-centeredness and pride. Many have been ineffective because they have not taken time to soberly reflect on their strengths and weaknesses, which would help them walk wisely and avoid pitfalls.

Understanding your limits is not a disadvantage; rather, it is a blessing. It allows you to navigate life wisely and accomplish your goals despite your limitations. Ignoring your limits does not make them disappear; it only makes you more vulnerable to failure.

Go into today remembering to heed the admonition of today’s scripture so you can walk in wisdom and be more fruitful than ever before.
Prayer:

Heavenly Father, help me to walk in humility and sober discernment. Keep me from pride and self-deception. Teach me to acknowledge my strengths and weaknesses so I may wisely fulfill my purpose. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
